Chapter 27: Satori Town Training (Part 2)

Power began to surge across Midoriya's body. His muscles tensed, and his joints creaked, as if he'd be torn apart at any moment. "Here it is, Gohan… One For All: Full Cowling: 30%!" A powerful gale kicked up in all directions, shaking the nearby trees behind them.

"That's incredible, Izuku! You've come so far on your own!" He praised with a smile as Midoriya returned the gesture.

"You're wrong. I've gotten this far because of your help in the beginning. You gave me a push in the right direction." Midoriya's smile radiated confidence.

Gohan returned a smile and taunted. "Alright then, show me what you've made of that push!" With that, Gohan dashed forward and slammed his leg downward. Gohan raised his arm to stop it, but Midoriya threw his foot into his friend's gut, pushing himself off of him and into the trees. Gohan followed closely, entering the treeline as Midoriya began to bounce around the trees. "You're amazing, Izuku, but I can still see you!" Gohan said, throwing his hand behind him and firing a Ki Blast off center so as to not hit his friend. It just missed Midoriya, decimating a series of trees behind him. He stopped to look, and his eyes widened at the large crater where several trees once stood. Turning back to his opponent, Gohan's face was now inches from his own. "Don't ever lose sight of the battle!" He called out as he planted a held-back kick into Midoriya's gut, sending him flying against the ground before slamming into a tree.

"Ow! Kke!" Midoriya found himself in pain as he powered down.

"Izuku!" Gohan shouted as he joined his friend's side. "I'm sorry, I got a little carried away!" He apologized, holding his hands together and hanging his head.

"It's alright, Gohan. Gh!" Despite his groans of pains, he still smiled. "You're amazing. One of these days, I want to be as strong as you are. That way, I can stand proud as the new Symbol of Peace." As he spoke, blood began to trickle from his mouth.

"Deku!" Uraraka called out as she entered the plethora of trees. "What happened!?"

"I…went a little too hard on him…" Gohan admitted before a hand squeezed his shoulder. His sunken gaze looked up slightly and saw Midoriya struggling to get up.

"I'm not done. I want to keep going." He said.

"B-But what about-!?"

"Gohan, I'm going to face Villains far stronger than I am in the future. You've seen it for yourself already, how I've had to break my arms and legs just to win. This may hurt, but I'm going to experience far greater pain in the future before the Villain goes down." Finally, Midoriya stood proudly, his eyes full of determination. "Let's keep going!"

Gohan could see the worry on Uraraka's face, so he took a deep breath and stood. "Izuku, I have an idea. Earlier, you seemed so focused on my blast, so why don't we work on your long-range attacks?"

"But, I don't have any long distance attacks." He told him.

"Izuku, you shook all these trees just by bouncing back and forth!" He said before getting closer. "You said you're at 30% now, right?" He whispered, earning a nod from Midoriya.

"That's right. I can comfortably move around at 15% now. With 30%, I feel as if my body's on the verge of breaking."

"So, I want you to watch me closely, and think about how you can use that to your advantage." Gohan told him as he slightly powered up. Dashing forward, Gohan threw a fist forward, pulling back at the last second. Turning around with a smile, Midoriya closely inspected the newly created crater behind his friend.

"You did all of that damage without actually hitting anything…" He mumbled to himself as an idea struck. "Wait a minute…!" When I was able to jump to 18%, I could leave shockwaves where I was jumping… He's saying if I used that idea to increase my power substantially for a brief moment… Midoriya raised a hand and held his middle finger in place with his thumb, powering up to 12%. In a brief moment, increase to 30%! With his mind enveloped in this concept, he flicked his finger, sending forward a massive shockwave that blasted through a couple trees.

"That was amazing, Deku!" Uraraka shouted as her eyes lit up.

"You've got it!" Gohan shouted excitedly as he approached his friend. Midoriya held his hand, feeling the strain of his attack. "Just make sure you keep on working to perfect that."

"R-Right!" Midoriya told him before looking up. "Let's keep going!"

"Alright, it was somewhere around here, Akumu." Watari told his comrade, searching amongst the trees. "Last time we were out here, the trees and ground shook."

His silent partner gave him nothing more than a nod.

"Man, this blows." He said. "We're always stuck on recon! I don't understand why we can't ever do anything fun!" He complained.

Akumu simply shrugged his shoulders underneath his cloak.

"Yeah, you're right. The mission comes first. Once we're the only ones left that have Quirks, we'll be able to have all the fun we want."

His partner put a gloved hand on his shoulder, prompting him to turn around.

"Of course I'm sure of it. Why would Rift want to take away our abilities? I may not be around much, but I'm sure they want world domination or some bullshit like that. Can't really do that without Quirks, now, can we?"

Akumu just shook his head in defeat as they continued walking.

"Haven't you ever watched TV before? Big Bads like Rift are after something stupid like world domination or kill all humans. I'm sure that's all she wants." It was several minutes before a massive dust cloud shot into the air. Watari and Akumu looked at each other, and Watari smiled. "I'd say that's certainly 'something major,' wouldn't you?" Watari asked, earning another nod from Akumu as their shadows combined and expanded, dragging them both beneath before taking off towards the direction of the explosion. It didn't take them very long to reach their destination, however they weren't very happy by what they found.

Watari and Akumu emerged from the shadows, taking cover behind a thick tree and watching a couple of kids tear up large parts of the forest. Just past the tree line, in the clearing nearby, Watari could hear explosions taking place. Meanwhile the two kids before them stopped sparring and looked over to the tree they were hidden behind. "Shit, did they spot us?"

"I know you're back there. Come out, now!" The kid with spiky black hair demanded.

The two looked at each other, and Akumu nodded. "Alright, here we are." Watari said. "No need to throw a fit, we're not looking for any kind of trouble."

"Who are you guys?" The kid with messy green hair asked as he began to let off a massive amount of energy. The surrounding trees shook as his eyes focused on them.

"Woah-ho-ho! Impressive, kid! My name is top secret, but my friends call me Watari. This is my partner Akumu. We're just out here looking for somebody." He explained, leaving his hands in his pocket. "Tall man, has a neck brace or some shit, goes by Kurogiri. Real shadowy guy, have you two seen someone like that around here?"

"Kurogiri?!" The green-haired kid said as his eyes widened. "What's your connection to the League of Villains?" He asked as he took on a fighting stance.

"Look, kid, I'm not trying to have a fight. Not with you, at least." He explained, raising his arms in surrender. "He's hiding something out here and it's pretty major. I'm just supposed to find out what it is and head back to-" Before he had a chance to finish, Akumu put a hand on his shoulder, prompting him to turn around. His partner shook his head, and Watari nodded. "If you haven't seen anything, we'll just be on our way." He said to them as they began to turn away.

"Stop." The kid with spiky black hair demanded.

"Geez, kid, I already told you that I wasn't trying to fight." Watari explained again.

"This major thing that Kurogiri's hiding… What do you want with it?" He asked them.

"Well, that depends on what it is that he's hiding. Frankly, if it's not about the Shie Hissaikai's plans, then I'm not interested. Will you leave me alone now?" He demanded as he and Akumu began to melt into his shadow. Before they could fully sink into the shadow, a tree flew across the sky and crashed into the forest. "Now that is definitely 'something major'!" He shouted as they sank into the shadow and dashed towards the source of the flying tree.

"Stay here!" They heard before they took off.

Is he following us? I won't be able to see or hear until I resurface. Should I take a peek? No, he wouldn't be able to keep up with us at top speed. Approximately seventy-five more meters northeast! Within seconds, Watari and Akumu emerged from the darkness and ducked behind a tree. While Akumu climbed into and hid in the tree's leaves, Watari remained on the ground. "I don't understand how you do all that climbing and parkour shit. It's pretty annoying if you ask me!" He whispered as he looked around. In front of them wasn't just a clearing in the forest, but a flat crater where dozens of trees once stood. All he could see were some massive jagged legs and feet, slightly obscured by the plethora of surrounding trees.

"Is that related to the Shie Hissaikaii?" A familiar voice asked, causing Watari to press his back against a tree.

"Holy shit, kid, you scared the life out of me!" How the hell is he here?! His Quirk! It must make him as fast as my shadow!

"I wanted to see what was going on over here. And I still don't trust you yet." He told him, putting his fists on his hips.

"You don't trust me, a complete stranger? Tell your mother she did a good job raising you, then." He joked as he took a look around the tree again. "What the hell is that woman doing?!" Watari said to himself as he noticed a woman with long brown hair standing before the monster.

"Oh, Ms. Kyoka is here." The kid said as he began to approach the two.

"What. The Fuck. Are you doing? Do you want to get squashed, kid!?" He whisper-yelled.

"That's my teacher out there, and I'm stronger than her anyway. Anything I can handle, she can." He responded as he continued to walk.

Watari bashed his fist against his head several times. "Fine, go fucking die, stupid kid! Not my problem!"

From the top of the trees, Akumu could see and hear everything. "Woah there, big fellow. Just calm down, and let's not throw anymore trees. If someone got hit by one of those, I'd probably flatten you under an oak or two, myself." The woman, which he overheard was named Kyoka, warned.

The beast didn't say much, and slammed his foot downward. "Hey, Ms. Kyoka!" The kid from before called out.

"Gohan?!" Kyoka turned to her student, now known to be Gohan, and was instantly squashed under the monster's massive foot.

"Haha, sorry, ma'am." The kid laughed. Akumu couldn't believe what he was seeing from beyond his mask.

"He's laughing!?" Watari asked himself. "Maybe we could use this little psycho on the team. He'd probably be great at playing bait." All of a sudden, the monster tipped over, and looking over, Akumu and Watari could see that Kyoka was lifting it by its foot. The entire thing started to fall backwards, when suddenly the woman vanished, and the monster went flying into the air. The two watched as the woman disappeared from where the monster once was, and reappeared above him, several hundred feet in the air, before kicking him back to the ground. The ground shook, and Watari saw Kurogiri's mist wash over the monster before vanishing. That's what he was hiding?! Damn, I can't believe that they've got me looking for info on a little girl instead of recruiting beasts like that.

Akumu descended next to his partner and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Yeah, you're right. Come on!" Watari said as he and Akumu sunk into their shadow. With their fading vision, they watched as the enormous monster was engulfed in Kurogiri's shroud, and his shadow dashed away.
