Kitty Zane
A few days passed since then. Maya was still upset with Wu and the other weren't all happy with him. Wu wanted to gain their trust back but wanted to give them time first.
On this particular day Maya and Zane where at the park relaxing. They sat at the old bench May had remembered not long ago.
"So this is where you got your powers?" Zane looked about curios.
"Yes. Who knew that one strangers choice could affects someone's whole life." Maya sighs.
Zane held her hand tight and said "Maya no matter what happened I…."
"I know Zane." Maya snuggles into him and then says "Lets keep walking. I need to keep my mind clear."
Zane nodded and helped her up as they walked on, Maya had been feeling low lately. All the knew information had bean a lot for her and finding out that her teacher had lied to her about something so important had hit her hard.
Zane was also upset with his Sensei but he knew he could not stay angry or they would never be able to work as a team again. Pluss in a way, sensei Wu felt to him like a second father.
Maya looked at Zane and asked "Are you okay Zane?"
"I just…I am afraid of what you will think when I tell you my feelings." Maya looked worried.
"Zane you can tell me anything we'll work it out." Maya tries to smile as they sit at the swings.
Zane smiled as he pushed her lightly "I am still mad with Sensei yes, but I do not want to stay angry. We all need to work as a team."
Maya sighed "I guess that's true but I need time before I can trust him again."
"And I respect that the thing is, I want to be able to trust him again like before because all of this makes me sad. It saddens me because Sensei has in a way felt like a second father to me." Zane stopped swinging as a few tears stung his face.
Maya stopped as well and turned to Zane "Oh Zane….I didn't know." Maya frowned.
"I just….I have not had a family in so long. Not till I came to the monastery and met you all. But before I found my love for you, I found a kinship with Sensei as a sort of parental figure." Zane looked down worried.
Maya got up to hug him "Oh Zane I'm not mad at you for that. Of course you'd feel that way, sure I'm not sure if Wu is the best person to look up too right now. But with everything you've gone through I can't stay mad at you for that. Just, try to be careful, for me. I don't want him to use you, like he did to me." Maya looks down sadly.
Zane held her chin up "I sense Sensei is not a bad man, he just made a mistake, like we all do. But I will be careful, for you're sake." He kissed the top of her head and Maya smiled as she snuggled up.
"Now come on let's go on the carousel. It's like spinjitsue but lazier." Maya drags him off Zane smiling curiously at the idea.
Meanwhile….
Garmadon was in the citie's allies, trying to find some inspiration for a new plot.
"Useless snakes, why did I ever bring them into my fold. I should probably find my own place. But they probably wouldn't accept me. I could make it but that be a waist of a wish. There has to be something around here that could inspire me too…" Garmadon rambled till.
"Raw!" A cat had fallen on his helmet and made him blind.
"Get off you insufferable little…" Garmadon grabbed the cat and glared at it as it shook in fear and it's fur stood.
"Oh you think your so tough and then when you really bite off more then you can chew you whimper off. How pathetic, how weak, how…..Incredibly easy to defeat." Garmadon smirked.
He let go of the cat at that and it ran off, the territory no longer useful to it if that mad man was around.
Garmadon walked around with a smirk as he said "It's so simple if I can't defeat the green ninja in this state then I'll make him easy to defeat. I wish, I wish the green ninja was nothing more then a cat."
The bright flash started and once it was gone Garmadon was week. 'That should do it. Now to find the ninja.' He smirks as he calls the snakes, it was time to get rid of that pain.
With the ninja….
Maya and Zane where back with the other, they were all a few feet from the bounty as they fought out in a forest where there was a large field for them to fight on.
They had all decided to start using their true potential against each other and it was a good workout. Even Zane had learned to somewhat balance his green energy but he was not able to bring out its full potential yet.
But at least practicing against his brother in his ice true potential helped. He just kept having trouble with Kai because fire did melt ice.
"You're all doing allot better. Garmadon won't know what hit him when you all go at him at full force." Nya smiled as she walked down.
"I will not be able to beat him if I do not learn to defeat Kia with just my element of ice or find my green energy full potential." Zane looked at his hands worried.
"Hey you're still learning and it's all knew for you. We all learned at our own pace. You'll figure it out." Maya smiles.
"Yeah and even the green ninja would have trouble against me, the Kai!" Kai did air guitar.
They all groaned at that "Did you just seriously call yourself that." Cole frowned.
"Aw come on it was awesome." Kai smirked.
"No it was lame." Maya frowned.
"Sorry Kai but he's right." Jay smirks.
Kai glared when suddenly "Argh." They all turned to Zane who was holding his head.
"Zane what's wrong?" Maya tried to rush over but Zane held a hand up.
"No Maya don't something is wrong. I think it's the mega weo…." Before Zane could continue a burst of light came over him and they had to shut their eyes.
"Zane!" they all shouted but what they found in their friend place was not a ninja but "A cat?" Jay looked curious.
Maya screamed in shocked and the white cat jumped in shock showing off it's icy blue eyes "Hot tomato it really is Zane!" Kai looked on slacked jawed.
"Garmadon turned him into a cat!" Cole held his hair.
Zane looked around confused and his ears seemed to flicker in confusion. "Oooh, so cute!" Maya squealed.
She rushed up and scooped up Zane. Zane was still confused but just cuddled up to Maya.
"If I didn't believe before that was Zane I do no." Nya smirks.
"OH man we goatta tell Sensei." Kai looked worried.
"As much as I hate to admit it, yeah. He should know something to fix him." Maya looked down worried at Zane who just looked at him with wide yes. 'Oh, I just want to snuggle him.'
Wu was looking over some of the old scrolls that Maya had taken from the serpentine trying to see if they could find any clues on it, so far it was just history of their people and what they endured in the caves.
That was till he found something on 'Panther island?' Wu looked confused and was going to read it when "Sensei!" Wu rolled up the script and put it in his coat for later.
"Is something the matter?" Wu asked as he stood.
Lloyd came in as well hearing all the commotion.
"Zane was turned into a cat!" Jay called.
Zane growled at the noise but just twitched his tail.
"Sorry buddy." Jay laughed sheepishly.
"What that can't be, you guys are joking right." Lloyd looked at the cat that then batted at Lloyd hair and he laughed.
"Sigh, I wish that where true nephew but that cat is Zane. His eyes are still the same as ever." Wu smiled at the ninja who looked at him with a sort of smile and quirk.
"Sensei do you have anything to cure him." Nya looked on worried.
"No at the moment but I know a place that sells all types of tea cures for all ailments, including magical ones. Nya I'll need your help getting there. The rest of you should stay here and make sure Garmadon doesn't try anything." Wu looked at them all.
They all said "Yes sensie." Maya said nothing and Zane just bowed his head.
Wu sighed, he knew Maya was still upset with him but he hoped to make it up to her. So he left and Nya took him off on her scooter.
"So, what do we do now?" Lloyd looks at Zane who was grooming himself.
"We're going to need cat stuff to keep him entertained, like a scratching post, and some toys so he doesn't get bored. I also think some cat food might be a good idea. We don't know what human food might do to him." Maya looks on worried.
Zane's head popped at that and mewed "I don't think he liked that idea." Jay chuckled.
"Maybe he's hunger how about….." Cole starts.
"No duck chowder!" The others yelled. Making Cole huff and cross his arms.
They went into the kitchen and Maya gave Zane to Kai "Can't love warm spots so trust me he'll stick to you like glue."
It was true Zane was already purring in delight as he curled up close to Kai and yawned. It was cute first then he showed his teeth.
"Wo cool, oh get him to do it again I want a picture." Jay took his phone out.
"Okay lets bring up the heat a little." Kai smiles.
As they did that Lloyd and Maya tried to find something for Zane.
"What about some of the leftovers form dinner?" Lloyd asks.
"I guess we could do that, but only the duck and we have to take the skin and bone away. We don't want him choking or getting sick." Lloyd nodded as he went to get a plate Zane could use.
"Oh he almost might be thirsty could one of you get a bowl of water for him?" Maya asked as she got the duck and started working on it.
"I got it." Cole called as he got the bowl and poured it in.
Zane's ears went up and he woke up at the sound of water. He mewed and jumped out of Kai's arms. "Hey where you going?" Kai asked.
Zane walked to Cole and batted at his pant leg "Oh you thirsty Zane. Here you go." Zane lapped up the water happily, Jay taking more pictures as he thought 'Total blackmail.'
"Here Zane, duck." Maya smiled as she put it down, Zane mrowed in what appeared to be thanks and started eating happily.
"Of course he eat whatever you make." Kai chuckles and Maya smacks his arm.
Lloyd then came in and said "Hey Maya will this do for a cat two." Lloyd came in with a ball of yarn and she said "Only if someone willing to clean up the mess."
"Oh I will, please the pictures will be golden." Jay smirks.
"Pictures?" Maya looked over confused.
"Um I…" Jay stumbled Maya looked at them and squeed "So cute, but they don't leave the team." Maya glares.
"Yes mam." Jay sighs.
"Now send the to me." Maya smiled and Jay returns it, he got busy.
"I'm goanna get the ship flaying to ninjago city so we can go get the cat stuff Zane will need." With that Kai was off.
As Zane finished eating and quenching his thirst, he finally noticed the ball of yarn in Lloyds hands and hi mewed in delight as he ran at him and jumped to grab the ball.
"Wo!" Lloyd said shocked as he fell on his rump and the ball of yarn fell on the floor.
"Zane careful with Lloyd." Maya scolded.
"I don't think he can hear you." Cole chuckled as Zane jumped about and tossed the yarn about, making a mess of the kitchen.
Maya sighed 'It like he's a baby.' May looked at Lloyd and helped him up "You okay?"
"Yeah he just surprised me." Lloyd dusted himself off.
"Cat's can be surprising. That's why you have to be kind of careful around them." Maya had to laugh a she looked over at Zane who was now all tangled up but still playing.
The other chuckled and as Zane seemed to get stuck, he got annoyed and froze the yarn. At that all their jaws dropped "Did he just?" Jay looked at his pictures for confirmation and it was true. Zane froze it.
"Great, now we have a fuzzy little menace with ice powers, what next?" Cole puts his hands on his hips.
Zane turned to him and glared as sparks of green energy went around him.
"I think he understood you. Zane, Zane, calm down please." Maya tried to stay calm. That seemed to help and he went running into Mayas arms to cuddle.
"Okay if Zane gets mad use Maya to distract him, noted." Jay smiled.
Maya glared at him and Zane sensed this as he glared back the energy returning. Jay yelled and ran off as the other laughed. Feeling Maya calm Zane calmed as well and began to purr as his tail swayed about.
It didn't take long to get to Ninjago city but in the time it took them to get there, Zane had already scratched a table blank and chewed on a remote, thought surprisingly he beat the game.
"Okay we need those cat toys and fast." Cole said annoyed.
"Not to mention a litterbox. I don't want to be picking up a surprise mess around her." Maya frowned at the idea.
"Okay we better go. Who's going to watch him?" Jay askes.
"Lloyd and I wil,l since he seems calm around us the most. Here's a list I made of what you need. And no catnip it's like drugging him." Maya glared as he saw Jay scheming, but he gulped at her panther glare and Zane's cat glare.
'They're so scary like that. Why are cat eyes so intimidating?' Jay dropped the idea and ran after the others.
"So what do we do know?" Asked Lloyd.
Maya grabbed the remote and said "We chill and keep Zane calm. The guys shouldn't take long." Zane mewed and curled up on a pillow as if saying 'Mine.' The two laughed and let him have it as they decided to relax while watching some Starfare.
Meanwhile…
Skales was livid "He wasted a wish to turn that stupid ninja into a cate. They'll just find a way to turn him back to normal." He hissed.
"Well what do you want us to do. He has the power." Acidicus glared.
"The pirates almost worked." The constricti added.
"Yes but he didn't take advantage of it cause he was too week and he didn't really want them to win because of his brat. If the kid was out of the way then we could probably actually make a plan to get rid of those annoying ninja." Skales thought on it.
"What are you plotting." Fangtom asks.
"I say we kidnap the little brat and use him to have garmadon do our bidding." Skales smirks.
"Oh I like this plan." Acidicus smirks.
"But how to get near him?" The constricti wondered.
"The ninja are probably trying to find a way to cure their friend. Let's see if the bounty is empty with the kid and figure out our plan from there." With that they left. Knowing the bounty tended to be around ninjago city.
At the pet store…..
As they guys looked about Kai read "Okay we got cat food, a scratching post, litter box, what's next."
"Toys, Zane's got to keep busy till then." Cole points at the said merchandise.
"What about a bed." Jay points to them.
"He can use his own." Kai shrugged as they went for the toys, as they did Jay saw the catnip and was about to grab it but Cole stopped him.
"Don't even try it. I never want to deal with an angry Maya ever again and if you mess with Zane then your done for." Cole lets his arm go as Jay rubs.
"Oaky okay no catnip. Party poopers." Jay huffed as he fallowed.
"So what should we get." Kai asked as he picked up a mouse.
"Hey a feather on a stick, he might like that." Cole swung it around with a smile.
"Oh those will be perfect pictures." Jay smirks.
"Okay we got the toys now lets pay and leave." They came to the counter to find a cheerful man saying "Oh hello ready to head out."
"Yup we got everything." Cole nods.
"Okay doke, let's see. Oh you got a furry kitty friend I see. How cute, any pictures?" the man smiles.
"Right here?" Jay smiles.
"Jay!" the guys glared "Come on it's just the pet guy, no one else."
So Jay and the pet guy started talking and let's just say Cole and Kai sighed, this was going to take forever.
Back on the bounty….
Maya looked at the time and said "What's taking those guys so long." Maya tries to call but she has a bad signal.
"Argh. Lloyd can you watch Zane for a bit. I have to go get the guys." Maya sighs.
"Sure, we'll just be watching the movie, right Zane." Lloyd strokes him.
Zane purred and Maya had to chuckle as she headed out to get the boys. They had park on top of the store so it shouldn't take her long.
As she left though the snakes finally get up to the top. "Good she's gone, and the rest of the ninja are down in the store. This is perfect." Skales hisses.
"What about the green one." Fangtom asks.
"He's a cat, he's no danger at all. Come on move it before they get back." Skales glares as he rushes off.
As Lloyd kept watching on Zane suddenly sensed something making his ear twitch.
"Something wrong Zane?" Lloyd asked.
Zane got down on the floor and growled then he looked at Lloyd and meowed. Lloyd was confused but fallowed.
Back at the store…..
"And here he…Oh never mind that's it. We'll go now and…" Jay jumped as he saw the one where Zane accidently iced the yarn.
"Hey what's taking you guys so long." Maya came in.
"Jay was busy showing off pictures of Zane." Kai huffs.
"Jay I told you not to show those off!" Maya glared.
"It was just to the pet guy." Jaya hid behind his phone.
"Seriously it's like you have no sense of respect. I asks you don't show them and you go ahead and do it." Maya huffs.
"Come one Maya you're overreacting." Cole tries to calm her.
"No I'm not. Jay really doesn't know how to respect any privacy and this isn't the first time. I'm really tired of it." Maya growls.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry can we just leave." Jay looked around at the people staring.
"That's another thing, you left us waiting far longer then we should have. Seriously." Maya shook her head.
"That was my fault miss I wanted to see pictures of the kitten." The pet guy said.
Maya sighed and said "Fine, now let's get back Lloyd and Zane are waiting."
They all nodded and headed out. Glad to be out of that situation, even if people still stared. Cole then smacked Jay.
"Hey." Jay whispered.
"I told I didn't want to deal with an angry Maya." Cole glared.
"Who knew she could have a worse temper then me." Kai looked on shocked. The other had to nod at this, they really had to learn not to tick Maya off.
Back on the bounty….
Skales and the other had snuck in and where looking around.
"We can't find him, and we've looked everyone." Fangtom reported.
"He can't have just disappeared. Keep looking!" Skales yelled.
They snakes kept looking around while behind under a small trap door Lloyd looked on and then hid again.
"This isn't good. I think their after you." Lloyd looked worried.
Zane was sitting on a crate as he looked through the crakes in the floor, a small growl in his throat as his tail twitched.
"I hope the others get here soon." Lloyd sat on another crate and patted Zane how purred slightly.
"Hey I found something." A snake called and the hatch was starting to jiggle.
"Oh no they found us." Lloyd grabbed Zane and looked around, then he hid them behind some crates.
The snakes finally opened it and Skales pushed the other general away and said "Out of my way. This time I'm going to search."
As Skales slithered in he looked around, he didn't see anything at first, then he heard movements from some crates. He smirked and headed over to them.
As he moved them away thought "AHH!"
"RAW!" Zane had jumped onto Skales face and started scratching him up.
"Get it off get it off!" Called Skales.
Acidicus came down to help, Zane scratching and biting at him as well. Lloyd took the chance to run. Zane running after him.
"I thought you said he was harmless!" Acidicuse asked.
"Just get them!" Skales yelled.
Lloyd and Zane ran till they came across the constricti general "And where do you think you're going." He laughed.
Lloyd launched his wind powers at him but since they wern't strong enough yet and with how strong Constricti where it was merely a breeze to him as he laughed more. That was till Zane bit his tail. "Hey!"
Zane hissed at him and Lloyd rushed passed, Zane not far behind.
"How could you not stop them!" Skales yelled.
"He bit me." The constricti whined.
Skales fumed as he rushed off.
Lloyd and Zaen made it ot the control room and where going to call Sensei when he was grabbed "Not so fast, little, ninja." Lloyd kicked at the snake and they leaned over then gave a punch and they let go. Zane then decided he needed a break and well….
"Ah, it tinkled on me!" Yelled Fangtom.
Lloyd yelled saying "Good kitty."
Zane mewed and headed to Lloyd. He pressed a few buttons and Wu's voice came up "Hello is anyone there."
"Uncle!" Lloyd called but it was shot off by Skales who pulled out some wires.
"Not this time brat." Skales came up with the others.
Lloyd walked back nervous when Zane jumped in front of them and yowled.
"I've had enough of you." Skales held his staff up high and brought it down to strike him.
"Zane no!" Lloyd called but it wasn't needed as Zane suddenly used his green energy to blasé the staff out of Skales hands.
Zane then yowled, fur up and he went and attacked the Snakes with his elemental powers. Let's just say the snakes where not ready for this and Lloyd looked on with his jaw dropped.
At this Point the ninja came in and Maya rushed to Lloyd "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Zane took care of me while you guys where gone." Lloyd nodded.
Maya looked over to see the shocked ninja and Zane taking on the serpentine pretty well for his short size.
'Wow, that is cool.' Maya thought and said "Lloyd stay here, we have some garbage to take out." Maya glared as she rushed over to help.
Lloyd smiled as he watched the show. The rest of the Ninja saw this and helped as well, the snakes ended up being tied up and Cole said "Well looks like we have a present for the police."
"You think we'll get any medals." Jay smirked.
"I think we have to worry more about Sensei getting mad about the bounty being a bit trashed." Kai pointed at the monitor room filled with green ice and scorch marks.
They all sighed, back to cleaning. They took turns cleaning and guarding. As Lloyd took care of Zane, using the new toys and stuff to see how he like them. Zane seemed happy with them but mostly seemed to only want to nap. He was probably tired from the day's events.
After dropping the snake generals off the ninja parked the bounty in the forest from before and finally relaxed.
"That took forever." Kai sighed.
"At least we could use spinjitsue to clean it." Maya sighed.
"And now that we have everything done, what do we do?" Cole asks.
"You can explain what happened." Wu come in with a raised brow.
"Sensei your back early?" Kai looked surprised.
"I asked Nya to book it when I got a call form the bounty that was never answered." Wu looked on confused.
Lloyd then went up and explained what happened, the other sheepish about leaving them alone but not like that didn't happen much.
"I see, at least everyone is safe. Nya is making the tea so now we just must wait." Wu sighed.
As that Zane's ears perked and he went up to rub between Wu's legs. WU chuckled and picked Zane up and said "Hello Zane, I heard you had an eventful day."
Zane mewed and Wu said "Is that so? What else."
Zane went on as if really mewing. Maya looked on at this and thought 'Wu may of lied, but he genuinely care for the ninja, especially Zane and it's not because of him being the green ninja.'
Maya looked on as Wu sat and decided to use a feather on a stick to entertain Zane, who happily replied making Wu laugh.
A little more time passed. Zane seemed to stick to Wu during the wait for the tea and Wu didn't seem to mind. He felt relax with Zane nearby and Zane seemed relaxed as well.
The other looked on confused at this but Maya knew what it was, but kept it to herself. Nya then came in and said "It's ready sensei."
"Good, now let's get him to drink it." Wu grabbed the cup and hands puts it under Zane muzzle.
Zane sniffs it then takes a few lick and soon a bright light shown and Zane was fast asleep on the couch with his head on Sensei's lap. The poor ninja exhausted.
The all chuckled at this and Cole said "I'll take him to his room Sensei."
"That is fine Cole, let us not wake him." Wu looked on kindly.
They all nodded and headed out to do their own things. Only Maya stayed behind and looked on with an uncertain but happy smile.
Zane twitched in his sleep slightly and said "Father?"
Wu was shocked and was going to correct him but "You know, he told me he see you as a second father."
Wu looked up and Maya in shock. May frowned slightly as she said "Please don't break that trust with him. He's sad about what happened. But he doesn't want it to be like this. So please, when keeping secret, if you can't think of how I feel. Think of how he'll feel." Maya frowns and heads out.
At that Wu looked on with a sad frown. 'I didn't now.' He looked down at a frowning Zane. "Father?"
Zane asked again as he twitches slightly. Wu patted the boys head and stroked it as he said "I'm here song, I'm here."
Zane smiled, the comfort something he missed from so long ago, it felt different but still nice.
Wu began to think on this. 'The rest of the ninja have at least one family member in their life. Zane has no one left. Maybe he deserves someone like that in his life.' At that Wu started to think.
