While we spent the day rejoicing in what God has done for us, the enemy continued to lurk behind the scenes. After all, we must be sober-minded and watchful, as our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).
"So, this is our new base?" Sheshe and Mimi had arrived at the castle of their new benefactors. It was so unlike the one Gaito lived in before it was destroyed. It shined brightly like a beacon in the midst of the deep sea.
"Well Sister Mimi, they're waiting for us inside. Hopefully, these guys won't be a drag on us like those other guys were."
"Let's do it!" They both entered the castle and were immediately greeted by a bright light.
"Gaaah!" The sisters cringed at this bright light but were suddenly reassured by this otherworldly-looking creature.
"Sheshe. Mimi. Do not be afraid. I am Mikeru, and I am with you in this mission." The sisters were relieved that Mikeru seemed to be a much gentler and benevolent boss than Gaito ever was. "It is I who represents the way, the truth, and the life. When we conquer those humans, there is no way to live except through us, at our mercy! They will have no other choice!" Mikeru hated humanity because he felt that they 'corrupted' the Earth. Like the others, he saw the church as an obstacle to gaining true power over Earth's people. Next thing they new, a little bird with a human-like head pops out from behind Mikeru to introduce himself.
"Heheheh! I am Fuku, and we will make the church fall. Not even their God can stop us!" Sheshe then walks closer to Mikeru.
"We took this from our previous boss. Not like he would put it to good use anyway." Sheshe hands the folder to Mikeru, who reads through it.
"Ah yes, if we play things wisely, we can make this all work."
"I agree, but I think something fundamental is missing here." Sheshe elaborates further. "See, much of this planning is deeply focused on destroying the church buildings alone. What they forget is that these Christians don't depend on a church to engage in worship. We saw this when Pastor Max and his group went back to his house to continue their worship…"
"Who is this Pastor Max, if I may ask?" Amazingly, Mikeru didn't know about me.
"According to this dossier, this man has been labeled as 'America's Pastor,' and has his own show on Trinity Broadcasting Network. He has not only influenced many in the human world, but also now some who belong to the sea. If we are to rule over the Earth and the sea, we must destroy their faith in God. We must lead people astray."
"How true! We cannot rule over them if they continue to trust in God!" As Sheshe and Mimi clarified these plans, Mikeru smiled at the possibilities.
"Most excellent, you two! Say, we should introduce you to the others. You'll be a great fit here." However, the sisters didn't seem enamored by their fellow henchmen.
"Sheshe, these guys are weirdos." Mimi whispered this as they looked around. Was this an evil lair or a freak show?
"I know. I mean, look at that one over there. Is that even a man or a woman?" A vampirish-looking man who was wearing heavy face makeup, a dark navy skirt and a white blouse confused the sisters. Him, a Tinkerbell wannabe, and some Chinese-looking woman was the best Mikeru could do? Suddenly, Sheshe and Mimi wished they had the Dark Lovers back. At least they looked evil, even if they were incompetent at their work."
"Sheshe. Mimi. Do not underestimate them. They may look soft but are a force to be reckoned with." Just as Mikeru was trying to show his servants' power, the three approached Sheshe and Mimi.
"Hi! I am Alala, and I represent the wings of dreams and decadence!"
"I am Lady Bat, and I represent the wings of love and pleasure!"
"Hello, I am Lanhua, and I represent the wings of content and desire!"
Sheshe and Mimi awkwardly introduced themselves, still unsure of what to make of their new crew. "Uhh, hi! We are Sheshe and Mimi. We may not have wings, but we know that we can put those other things to good use!"
"Heheheh! Sheshe and Mimi, we have wrought great damage with their skills." Leave it to Fuku to always chime in. "Alala can attract others to her, Lady Bat can put people into a trance and then bite them, and Lanhua can transform into a dozen smaller versions of herself which can play songs that make people dance until they die!"
"Hmmm, how interesting." Sheshe could tell that if done right, these guys could do some serious damage to people's faith in God. Maybe they weren't so bad after all.
"Come along, Sheshe and Mimi. I'll take you to your private quarters." Mikeru led the sisters to their living quarters, which thankfully was much better equipped than what they had at Gaito's castle. After they settled in, Sheshe and Mimi get talking about how things will go.
"Sister Sheshe, it seems like these guys have something we can put to use here. Isn't this exciting?!"
"It sure is, Sister Mimi. Here's what I say about it: Perhaps we can give things a go here. If we succeed here, we can use these guys to our advantage!"
"But what if they fail, Sheshe? We don't want to be dragged…" Sheshe put her finger on Mimi's lips as she continued.
"That is why I developed an exit strategy if this fails. If things are going that wrong, we can easily escape and continue on our own instead of being trapped in their failed plans. It is why we're here, while Gaito and the Dark Lovers are no longer living."
"How true, Sheshe!"
"Now, here is what I'll be proposing to Mikeru and the others. There's only use at going after the Pastor directly. If we can cut him off from his followers, their faith will shrivel on the vine!"
The two sisters felt like they were on top of the world and that nothing could stop them. Little did they realize that God has other plans for His creation.
