Lessons In Love: Chapter Twenty-Seven: Follow The Cops Back Home (Part 4)

Tony couldn't really stay in the room any longer. He had too much on his mind, and he couldn't talk to Steve about it. The brunette took the blanket, and one of the pillows and he rushed out into the hotel hallway.

Tony only had his shorts on, and the blanket. That painful ring of the fire alarms finally stopped, and Tony thought that his ears were bleeding. He walked barefoot, and headed to the third room that he paid for. The brunette hesitated for a moment, but then he gently knocked on the hotel door.

He heard a few footsteps, then Stephen roughly opened up. He immediately stared down at that giant blanket. He saw Tony's sorry looking face, and Stephen tried not to glare at him.

"What.."

"Can I sleep in your car? Or.. Can I sleep in there, with the two of you? I brought a pillow."

Tony was ok with crashing on the floor. His insecurity level had officially maxed out at that point. He settled his thoughts on a few things. Tony concluded that Steve and Bucky's connection was much bigger than they even knew.

Tony couldn't really compete with that. He stared down at the door frame as he thought it over, and Stephen stepped to his left.

"You can come in."

He let that noisy person, and bulky blanket walk into the room. Tony saw Victor asleep on the second bed. The kid was depressed, and suffering from losing his sister. It took him a really long time to get back to sleep.

Stephen was pretty pissed off about the fire alarm, but he saved that anger for someone else. Tony looked around the room, and Stephen quietly headed over toward the bed.

Tony set the blanket down on the floor, and he started setting up a spot to crash.

"You can sleep on this bed, if you want."

He didn't want Tony sleeping in his car, or on the floor. Stephen moved closer to the wall, and he made room for Tony. He didn't mind if they slept beside one another. The brunette stared at the would-be-doctor, and he held the corner of the pillow in his hand.

"Uhmahh, Ok. Thank you."

Tony stepped closer to the bed, and he slowly sat down beside Stephen. He watched as the older one rest his head against the pillow. Stephen had his back turned to Tony, and he said nothing else.

The brunette kept staring at him for a moment more, and then he placed his own pillow on the mattress. Tony relaxed his head, and he felt Stephen's back against his.

Tony couldn't help it. He tried to quietly start a conversation with Stephen. The brunette thought about what to say to him, and he moved a little on the bed.

"Did you two hear the fire alarm?"

"Yes."

"Did it wake Victor up?"

Tony glanced over his shoulder, and he saw Stephen move a little bit. Tony sorta thought that he was asking a stupid question, but he was trying to get his mind off of Steve.

Tony tugged on the side of his lip, and he tried really hard not to think the absolute worst. He failed, and wondered what the car ride would be like if the two of them actually realized that they were more than friends.

Tony's young heart really ached about all of that, and he forced both of his eyes to close.

"Yes. It woke him up."

Stephen kept staring at the wall. He continued to feel Tony moving around on the bed, and he tried to ignore it. He also tried to ignore that warmth against his back.

"I couldn't stay in there. I felt -"

"I get it. Goodnight Tony."

Stephen shut down Tony's conversation attempt, and the brunette quickly closed his mouth. He actually chewed on a part of his lip. Stephen Strange was so icy.

Tony kept quiet for as long as he could, but it was hard for him. He wasn't tired at all, and his mind was going haywire.

Tony moved his legs around beneath the blanket, and he gasped a little when he accidentally touched Stephen's leg. CRAP. He didn't want to piss him off, and then get ditched in Nebraska.

He had a feeling that Stephen would leave them all in a heartbeat. . . .

You know what, Tony decided to ask him if he would. Tony flipped over and he heard that would-be-doctor give out an exhausted sigh. Stephen turned over as well, and he faced that noise in front of him.

Tony looked directly at Stephen, and Stephen eventually looked directly at Tony.

"Would you ditch us? If I made you mad, would you leave us here?"

That comment almost made Stephen laugh. He kept looking at Tony, and he took his time before he gave him a response.

"Well, I'd leave Steve and Bucky behind before I'd leave you. But, I would still leave you Tony."

Stephen smiled at the thought. Tony crinkled his little nose upward, and he playfully kicked that long leg.

"Whaa, you're such a jerk."

Tony whispered what he thought to Stephen, and the would-be-doctor became quiet. He stared at Tony for a moment, and then he fixed the side of Tony's messy hair. He didn't respond to the comment at all, and Stephen eventually turned back around.

Tony didn't expect any of that. He silently stared at Stephen's back again, and then he tried to go to sleep.

His energy was all over the place. Tony didn't think he'd be able to sleep at all.

He was right. The brunette barely slept. It took Tony an eternity to get some rest, and only Victor and Stephen actually slept. The two of them headed out early to get some food to eat, and Tony was left alone in Stephen's bed.

Tony was half-asleep. He stretched out over the mattress, and he hugged the pillow in front of him toward his chest. He could tell that it wasn't his pillow. It was clearly Stephen's and Tony forced his eyes to open.

His pillow fell onto the floor at some point. Tony wondered how they slept comfortably with one pillow, and he scratched the side of his head. The brunette got up from the bed, and Tony covered himself with the blanket again.

Away away from the room, he walked.

Tony headed back to his own room, and he sulked the entire time. He felt heartbroken. Possibly lovesick? Tony opened the door to the room he almost shared with Steve, and noticed that the bed was perfectly made. The only thing missing was the blanket, the Steve, and his pillow.

Steve was to his right. Tony held the door open for a moment, and then he slowly walked in. He made sure that damn blanket cleared the door, and he dropped it to the floor.

The blonde was packing up his things, and he set all of Tony's belongings on a chair.

"Hello Tony."

Steve couldn't sleep. He also couldn't talk to Bucky, and he waited for Tony to possibly come back to the room. He understood why he left, and Steve felt horrible.

Tony just gave him a small smile, and he closed the door behind him. Steve actually approached him. He felt bad about what happened, but he couldn't apologize for Bucky's behavior. Bucky needed to do that on his own, so Steve just walked up to the smaller brunette.

Tony looked at those shoulders, and he felt a gentle hand touch the side of his face. Steve gave him a soft kiss, and Tony leaned into it right away.

He liked Steve, a lot. It was probably just some kind of puppy love or whatever, but Tony was pretty into it. He gripped those big shoulders, and Tony was led back a bit toward the door.

Steve's body seemed to cover him like a blanket. He felt so powerful, and Tony couldn't get over it. The blonde was all over him at that point, and they both did not care if Bucky could hear them.

Tony felt Steve's hand touch his skin, and that brunette lit up like a match. His body started heating up, and their kiss mirrored that notion.

Steve had Tony all pressed up against that door, and the two of them started doing something that was called "necking" where Steve came from.
