Chapter 23 Plans

I woke up the next morning to find my battle clothes were cleaned and set on a chair. The sun was pouring through the window. I slip out of bed and check my wound as I change. With Aragorn's help and my healing, all there was left was a scar. I got into my clothes. A knock on the door came as I pulled on my boots. I got up and went to the door to find Eomer waiting at the door.

"Aragorn has called a meeting in the throne room. You up for it?" Eomer said. I come out and close the door.

"I am." I said. Eomer held out his arm. I took it with a grin and we walk towards the throne room. Gimli was sitting on the steward's chair as we all stood in the throne room. I stood next to Eower as Gandalf stood facing one of the statues.

"Frodo has passed beoynd my sight. The darkness is deepening." Gandalf said.

"If Sauron had the Ring, we would know it." Aragorn said. Gandalf turns to look at us.

"It's only a matter of time. He has suffered a defeat, yes, but behind the walls of Mordor our enemy is regrouping." Gandalf said. Gimli puffs out some smoke.

"Let him stay there! Let him rot. Why should we care?" Gimli said.

"Gimli!" I said. Gandalf glares at him.

"Because ten thousand Orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom. I've sent him to his death." Gandalf said.

"No. There is still hope for Frodo. He needs time and safe passage across the Plains of Gorgoroth. We can give him that." Aragorn said.

"How?" I ask.

"Draw out Sauron's armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and and march on the Black gate." Aragorn said. Gimli coughs out smoke in surprise.

"We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms." Eomer said.

"Not for ourselves. But we can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's Eye fixed upon us. Keep him blind to all else that moves." Aragorn said.

"A diversion." Legolas said.

"Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?" Gimli asked.

"Valar will see it done." I said. Gandalf and Aragorn talked. We started making plans to got to the Black Gate the next day. I was anxious to fight again. I walked out to the tree. I smile as I see some buds coming on it. I saw Eowyn standing talking to a man. She seemed like she was smitten with him. Eomer came up behind me and groaned.

"Please say that is not my sister flirting with a man." Eomer said. I smirk at him.

"Looks like your not the only one that found love, handsome." I said. Eomer grumbled. The man left and Eowyn turned to see us. Eomer had his arms crossed with a frown while I smiled at her.

"Its nothing." Eowyn said.

"Sure it is. Now whose not admitting feelings." I said, making Eowyn blush.

"What's going on?" Eowyn asked.

"We march for the Black Gates of Mordor tomorrow." Eomer said. Eowyn frowned.

"We need to end this." I said.

"I know, but so many men lost already." Eowyn said.

"We will take the ones that are strong and can fight." Eomer said.

"Your going?" Eowyn asked, looking at me.

"I want to see this task finished to the end." I said. Eowyn nodded. I looked up at Eomer as the Fellowship joined us and we head to train.

Night fell fast as we all sat to eat. It was quiet as we knew what was coming. I sat next to Eomer as we sat. Gandalf and Aragorn were whispering.

Later. I laid in my bed staring out the window. I coudn't sleep with the excitement for tomorrow. I got up and wrap the robe I had over my nightgown. I knew Eomer's room was across the hall. I knock lightly.

"Enter." Eomer said. I come in and saw him looking over some papers in bed.

"Can't sleep?" I ask. Eomer looked up and nodded as I came over.

"No. I see you can't either." Eomer said, pulling me onto the bed next to him.

"Nah. To eager to fight." I said. Eomer put the papers down and pulled me close to his side. "What's your plans after the war?"

"I am to take my uncles place as King of Rohan." Eomer said.

"You would make a fine King." I said.

"Would you stay?" Eomer asked. I looked up at him as he ran a hand through my long hair.

"For you. I will, but I need to go home to Erebor to get my stuff and for you to meet my family." I said.

"I'll come with you. Let's get through this battle." Eomer said, kissing me. I return it. Eomer pulled me close as we both fell asleep in each others arms.

The next day. We were all ready for battle. I got on Star and Eomer put Merry on behind me. I smile at him as he mounted his horse. We rode out of Gondor and headed for the Black Gates. The final battle was about to happen
