Scene 19
It had been three weeks since Kakashi and the others went on their mission.
Kakashi overexerted himself using his Mangekyo Sharingan.
Kaiya sat at Kakashi's bedside while he was asleep resting.
Naruto was soon going on a mission with an ANBU shinobi she knew of. Tenzo. But he was going by Yamamoto for the mission.
This reminded her of the time Itachi had used Tsukuyomi on Kakashi.
The door opened and Tsunade came in.
"Just checking up on Kakashi, he's still asleep?"
Kaiya nodded.
Tsunade saw the worried look on Kaiya's face, "He's going to be okay, don't worry." with a smile.
Tsunade then left the room, leaving Kakashi and Kaiya.
Kaiya was reading a book when she heard a voice.
"You know you can go for a walk or something?" mumbled Kakashi.
She chuckled. "Then who's going to make sure you don't hurt yourself?"
Kakashi looked at Kaiya and sighed.
Looking away he added, "I don't deserve you Kaiya."
"Don't talk like that, it's the other way and you know it." filling a cup of water from the sink in the room.
Kakashi sat up slowly with the help of Kaiya.
"Naruto will be okay right?' she asked, 'Up against Orochimaru?"
Kakashi informed her about the last mission and the nine-tails chakra.
Kaiya stared at her hands.
"If only I could've gone with them..." she muttered.
She thought back to the last time she saw Orochimaru and her childhood.
"Kaiya, it's okay," Kakashi reassured her. "We can't do everything."
Kaiya stood up and looked out the window at the Hokage monument.
"Kakashi is it okay if I go for a walk?"
He nodded and Kaiya left the room silently.
Kaiya walked for a long time.
She didn't know how long, but Kaiya needed to clear her mind.
Before she knew it she was at the training grounds and continued past them.
She stopped in front of a lake.
Kaiya remembered this lake very well.
"Wow!" exclaimed Kaiya as a little girl.
Minato and Kushina chuckled at the little girl who's eyes lit up.
Kaiya began running in circles and then ran to Minato.
"Tag you're it!" laughing.
Minato chased after Kaiya.
Kushina sat down on a tree stump since she was pregnant.
She chuckled at the two.
It had been a while since the three of them enjoyed themselves.
"Gotcha!" yelled Minato as he grabbed Kaiya and spun her into the air.
The two then fell to the ground laughing.
Kushina looked at her husband and Kaiya laughing as the two goofed off.
She knew how important this was for Kaiya.
Kushina's due date was in a month, and they were certain how Kaiya would be once the baby arrived.
Kaiya and Minato laid in the grass after making 'grass angles' when Kaiya asked, "Minato, you won't forget me when baby Naruto comes right?"
"Hmm?' he was waiting for Kaiya to finally ask this question, he knew it was coming. 'Of Course not!" He got to his shoulder and threw a piece of grass in the little girl's face.
Kaiya huffed and got up, "Liar! You will forget me! Just like how Orochimaru forgot me in my room!" running away.
Minato got up and looked at Kushina.
It had been months since Kaiya had mentioned Orochimaru.
She didn't go far, and Minato went to her.
"Kaiya, I promise I'll never forget you. You're family." he brought her to a hug.
Kaiya cried into his shoulder.
"But what if you do? Orochimaru forgot about me. What if you forget and then Orochimaru finds me?" wiping her tears.
Minato smiled, "How about we make a deal then Kaiya?' this got the little girl's attention, 'If you ever feel that I'm forgetting you., I want you to yell your name as loud as possible okay?"
Kaiya wrinkled her nose at him and then nodded, "Fine, but you can't lose your hearing okay?"
It had been so many years since then, thought Kaiya.
Secretly, Kaiya still wondered why Orochimaru had left her in that room all alone until Kakashi had found her.
Did she make him mad?
Was she not good enough?
Why?
And again he left her at the chunin exams.
It wasn't that Kaiya ever wanted to be around Orochimaru, she just wondered.
Kaiya clenched her fists angrily.
Clenching her jaw at first she then started yelling.
"KAIYA!" she kept repeating.
Yelling more and more.
Louder and louder.
Until her throat began to hurt and she was running out of breath.
Once she stopped she heard her name, "Kaiya?"
She gasped and turned to find a face she wasn't ready for.
Naruto's.
"What are you doing?" he laughed.
Kaiya smiled, "Oh something someone told me to do when I was little." looking down embarrassed.
Naruto smiled and then sat on the ground.
"I was going to do some training before I left for my mission tomorrow, but then I heard your crazy screaming. Guess it's a sign for me to relax instead."
Kaiya sat next to him," And you're willing to hang out with me?"
"Well yeah! I never see you without Kakashi and was wondering something." he started.
Kaiya piqued her interest.
"You were adopted by the Fourth Hokage, right? What was he like?" Naruto was excited and curious.
It caught Kaiya off guard but then she sighed. "Well, he was the nicest person I've ever known. I didn't know him for more than almost a year actually. But he always treated me with kindness."
Naruto then remembered how the Forth died. "Wow. I'm sorry." he felt it was his fault suddenly.
Kaiya laughed, "Why are you apologizing silly!"
"Well because of the nine-tailed fox in me, that's why. Isn't it like my fault then." Naruto added concern.
Kaiya shook her head, "Never Naruto. Don't ever think that incident was your fault." she smiled softly. "If I really thought it was your fault, do you think I would be sitting here with you now?"
"Oh yeah! You got that right Kaiya." Naruto chuckled like he should've known.
Kaiya looked at the lake and then mentioned, "You know it was actually the Fourth who told me to yell my name actually." this caught Naruto's attention, and she filled him in are parts of the story.
"Sounds like you two were really close! What about Kakashi and you. You guys are like two peas in a pod." asked Naruto.
Kaiya looked down," It was Kakashi who saved me from Orochimaru." she answered.
Naruto then remembered Kakashi mentioning after the Third Hokage had died, that Orochimaru had once held Kaiya captive. He then thought of Sasuke.
Sasuke knew of Kaiya's past with Orochimaru, but yet he still chose to go to that snake.
Kaiya got up to stretch.
"Come on, let's head back, I'm hungry. Think we should bring Kakashi some ramen, I'll buy you one too." she smiled.
"Oh, man! Well, we gotta go fast!" jumped Naruto in glee.
