Danny covers just ears at the sudden cacophony of noise. Crouching low to the ground in order to avoid the flying debris from the thing that had crashed into the ground nearby. His energy is still buzzing from what happened before, the new excitement bringing out his ghost half.
Once that's done he opens his eyes and looks around wildly at the scene. Carts are smashed or broken, fire spreading all around the buildings and forest, people running around, screaming or crying. His eyes focus on a group of people trying to help someone stuck under a fallen wagon, they didn't seem to be having much success.
He flies over using his intangibility to reach for the person, "Hang on, I got it!"
The people around him spook but once he pulls the guy out, they focus on him.
Danny steps back, "What is going on?"
One of the women turn to him, dirt and tears staining her face, "Arrachtaigh!"
The group scrambled up, quickly running away from him with fear clear on their faces. As they run, he notices their clothing.
"Wait."
Before he can think about it, something large crashes into his back, sending him into the wagon with a cry. Pain blossoms from his new bruises as whatever hit him lifts up.
"Daniel?!" Their voice brings forth some sour memories but the pain keeps him from moving too much, "Are you alright? I didn't see you there."
The teen groans as he's lifted onto his feet, some wood splinters falling from him when intangibility is used, "Plasmius? What are you doing here?"
Phantom looks up in time to see the man look away, "Same as usual. Now, I propose we attempt that new move you had wanted to test out, though I can't say it's a smart one."
Plasmius tenses, lurching them both to the side with no further warning. A loud roar and crashing sounds overtaking their ears.
"What is going on?!" Danny pulls away from the man to look behind him, freezing when his eyes meet sickly yellow.
His eyes move slowly over the⦠thing, in front of him. It's form looks wispy, constantly shifting from one shape to the next. There are no facial features or any special defining attributes, only a vague sense of what it should be. But the definitive claws and glowing green hands are hard to miss.
"What is that?"
The taller male takes a good look at his face before realization crosses it, "You haven't seen one yet."
A shriek leaves Danny as he dives out of the way of a plasma blast, "No! I have not!"
A pink shield forms around them, keeping the monsters blasts from hitting them. The town isn't so lucky, "Daniel, we don't have much time to discuss the matters at hand. We need to take that thing down and then we can talk about the details. So if you wouldn't mind using your ice blast on its feet while I duplicate myself that would be most helpful."
Whatever protest he might have had with the idea vanishes when the shadowy form lunges af the barrier and breaks it. It's screams now ringing in his ears due to proximity.
Adrenaline has him shooting an ice blast at the monsters feet and hoping for the best, "I don't know if this will work!"
Plasmius steps in front of him and forms a smaller barrier around them, it's color darker and harder to see through, "I would suggest covering your ears."
Taking the man's advice, he throws his gloved hands over his ears and looks around the larger man a what's happening. It looked like all of his clones were grabbing onto the monster and glowing, kind of like-
BOOM!
Phantom winces, closing his eyes and flinching on instinct. Why in the world would Plasmius blow up his clones?!
The shield falls away, the area around them now turned to dirt and ashes. Finally he moves his ears and blinks in their surroundings.
"That was a mess."
The black haired man laughs, "As they usually are. Now we should be going before the townspeople return."
The teen whirls around to fade the man only to see him flying away, "H-hey! Wait a minute! What just happened?" The man ignores him and continues into the forest, "Plasmius? Plasmius!" Phantom speeds in front of him, "VLAD!"
The man stops, landing on his feet and changing back into his human form, "Oh for heaven sakes, stop yelling. Like I told you, we can discuss what happened after it was all over. And since it's over I will talk to you."
Old memories of situations that were similar to this one make the teen sceptical, but Vlad had never tried the same trick twice, "Fine talk."
The man sighs like a frustrated parent and gestures to him, "Will you change back at least? It would make it less conspicuous if someone happens upon us."
Hesitant, he lowers to the ground and changes back. Danny's cold hands easily finding his pockets for warmth, "Ok, I changed back. Now talk."
The man rubs a spot between his eyes but seems to relent, "Danial, I want to first and foremost inform you that I am not your enemy here. I'm sure Clockwork informed you I would be joining you in your training sessions?"
A few alarm bells were going off in the teens head, "You know about Clockwork?"
"The wizard of time? Yes. A while back for me but for you I am not so sure it has happened yet."
"A while ago?! How long have you been doing this?"
He sighs, "About a month a believe. This would be your first training session yes?"
Danny takes a step back, he had grown but the older man was still taller than him by at least a full foot, "What's it to you?"
A small smile forms on Vlad'd lips but none of the cruelty he's used to seeing is there, "Your safety, honestly. Interesting how you learned that trick from me when I learned it from you."
Blue eyes narrow, "What do you mean?"
Hands fold behind a pristine suit back, "You called it a combo attack. You suggested it the last time we met."
Danny waves his hands, "I'm super confused, I thought we were doing this at the same time."
Vlad gives a long suffering sigh, "While we are doing this at the same time, we have figured out he is mixing up our timelines a little. So an older version of you would be talking to a day younger version of me."
The teen rubs his temples with a tried sigh, "So at some point you and I made up." It was less a question and more a statement.
The man nods, "It was quite an adventure." A thought seems to occur to him, "Ah, then I much have been the one to tell you that we shouldn't talk too much about the future to our past selves, but since we are never too sure we just do our best."
Danny nods, stuffing his hands in his pockets and shuffling his foot, "Yeah, that could be a problem."
They stand in silence for a moment before Danny looks around the forest they were in, "So where are we exactly?"
Vlad shrugs, "I would assume the past, based on the locals attire and speech."
Danny accepts this, since he didn't know and asked the next question, "And how do we get back?"
The man stands up straighter and points to the medallion on his own chest, "Removing the charm seems to work for us, but sometimes we are taken out of a situation before we can finish it. So really it depends."
Nodding, Danny reaches for his medallion from inside his shirt, hesitating before taking it off, "Um, I guess I'll see you later?"
Vlad nods respectfully, "In due time little badger."
With that the pair take off their necklaces and Danny passes out.
