Chapter 29: Who you really are

After winning the duel, they found themselves outside of a chamber that said TREATMENT ROOM above it.
Cait then replied, "Let's do this."
Nate nodded as he slid the card into the slot and inside of a room was a computer with a large chair and the computer still had power on to it and Cait sighed and replied, "I really hope this works for my case, gang."
Nate then replied, "I know some computer basics, so I can help you both out a little bit if you need me to."
They both nodded as Cait sat down and Piper then replied, "Let us know what happened to you in your words, Cait."
She nodded as Nate pushed a few buttons and small needles came out of the arms of the chair and and Cait groaned in pain before they began to glow and she began to moan louder and louder and Piper replied, "Nate, what's happening?"
Nate looked at the screen and he replied, "The treatment is working and she's about a minute away from being healed."
She moaned even more as the chemicals and the needles went back into the chair and Piper replied, "Cait, how are you now?"
She sighed and she got up and then she smiled and replied, "Everything is clear now for myself. I haven't been this way in years now. Thank you all for helping me. You are all my true friends."
Nate nodded and then replied, "Let's head back to New Mallville now, gang."
They nodded as they left the room.

Back at the HQ, Justin Ayo was talking with X6-88 about the duel.
The courser then replied, "Lucky, that girl was a better duelist then he was."
Justin sighed and replied, "She is a lucky duelist for sure. But, we need to make sure all coursers not to pull a stunt like that again. We can't afford to make a name for ourselves like this again. For now on, you have to make sure that all coursers do a stunt like he did again."
X6-88 nodded and replied, "As you wish, sir."
"Good. I'm heading to bed now. Make sure no other coursers leave for the remainder of the night, unless it's for a recapture mission."
He nodded as Justin left his office and then the courser sighed and replied, "Stupid courser. What the hell was he thinking about do something so stupid...and a little bet clever at the same time."
He vanished in a burst of light.

Back at New Mallville, the gang was talking to Dr. Sun about what they just saw.
Sun nodded and replied, "You get really lucky, young lady. Glad you're okay now."
Cait nodded and replied, "I haven't had a clear mind for at least a couple of years now. Psycho really got to me during my times as a Combat Zone fighter."
"Psycho?", a confused Mike asked.
Piper nodded and replied, "Gives you a temporary boost of power inside your body and if during that time, you'll have trouble sleeping. It's one of the dangerous drugs through the United Commonwealth, honey."
Mike nodded and Sun then replied, "Just be more careful for now on, Cait. We don't want anything serious to ever happen to a great duelist and fighter like you."
Cait then replied, "Thanks, doc. I'm heading to get some rest now."
She waived to her new friends and then left and then Piper looked at Mike and replied, "We all need rest after a long day like today."
They both nodded as they all left.

That night on the main area of the Prywden (The big Brotherhood of Steel Airship that flew in), a a tall bearded man wearing a large coat was looking out a nearby window towards the rundown Minneapolis. He was Elder Arthur Maxson, the leader of the Brotherhood of Steel (In this section of the World because they were other groups of Brotherhood Soldiers in various parts of the world) was looking out a window of the huge airship. In the same room, was a a high officer of the Brotherhood of Steel and he was Lancer Captain Kells and was well known by Paladin Danse and his troop that was stationed at the abandoned Minneapolis-St. Paul airport.
Maxson sighed and replied, "Who knew a simply nuclear strike from the enemies of the United States would of resulted of the total destruction of the world. If we would of existed back then, we would of protected the United States from those nukes."
Kells looked at his computer and he replied, "Elder Maxson, you really need to see this right away."
The elder went to his computer and he replied, "What is it, Kells?"
"This program Madison Li gave us to work on helped us look through the Databanks of the Institute and we found something that must surprise you."
He pointed at a certain name and Maxson then replied, "Is this thing accurate?"
"This program wouldn't lie to us, sir. It's top notch and 100 percent."
"Call down to the Vertibird bay and tell them down there to get my personal Vertibird ready for flight. We need to find him quickly and I know where to search first."
Kells nodded as he got a cellphone out of his pocket and Maxson then replied, "Time to go hunting for a stray."

That next day, the gang was hanging out in the food court area with Dogmeat.
Piper then replied, "I heard Cait is doing a lot more around Mallville now."
Nate nodded as he handed a treat to Dogmeat and he ate it quickly and Nate smiled at and then they noticed Danny walking with another guard in and Piper replied, "Hey."
Danny saw the group and replied, "Heard the latest?"
Piper looked confused and Danny then replied, "A group from the Brotherhood of Steel are here. The leader of the Prywden and one of his loyal captains are here to talk to you all."
Mike then replied, "Now what? Haven't heard from them in for a few days now."
They got up and followed the 2 guards outside.

On the roof, the gang made it up there were Maxson, Kells and Rhys was waiting for them.
Piper then replied, "Let's be careful with these guys."
They walked to them and Maxson then replied, "Greetings, citizens. I'm Elder Arthur Maxson, leader of this area's Brotherhood of Steel division and this Lancer Captain Jerome Kells, my highest ranked solider below me and you all meet the new Paladin Rhys."
Mike then replied, "Nice to meet you all. What's up?"
Maxson then replied, "Do you know Paladin Danse?"
Nate then replied, "Yes, we do. Big ally of ours and he and his two soldiers helped us find more stuff we needed, sir."
Maxson then replied, "He was a good soldier when he actually was."
"What do you mean was?", a worried Piper asked.
Maxson then replied, "We found something when a undercover soldier of ours found a database locating Synths around the Commonwealth and we found that Paladin Danse is a damn synth!"
Piper then replied, "No..way. He didn't tell us about at all."
Maxson then replied, "I believe you all. If you see him, report to us. We are hunting him down and wiping him out ourselves!"
Mike then replied, "You can't do that! Danse is a really good guy and he'd do anything to help us out!"
"He's a synth and they are all evil! If you find him, report to him or you'll all feel our wrath!"
Danny and Trevor rushed in and Trevor then replied, "You have no fucking right to threaten us or these wonderful people! THey've been good help!"
Maxson sighed and replied, "Whatever. We find him without your damn help then! Soldiers, back to the airship!"
They all went back to the Vertibird and it flew off and he was out of sight and Piper then replied, "I hate those assholes! There is no damn way we'll turn Danse in! He's a great person, synth or not! We need to find him before those heartless fools do!"
Danny then replied, "We may know a way to find him. Follow me downstairs!"
They all quickly did so.

About 10 miles north of New Mallvile was the rundown city of Maple Grove, a very popular city. It had a lot of restaurants and much more. Nearby was the rundown Grand Star Hotel, that was going to be the best hotel away from the Mall of America and ir was supposed to open the day after the bombs dropped everywhere and had a restaurant and it would have a beautiful indoor waterpark as well. Paladin Danse was heading in a underground area that was supposed to be a fallout shelter and had a large bed, a fridge, small library and a small entertainment area as well and it could hold about 10 people at a time. After arriving at the resort, Paladin Danse was in the main area of the building looking for dropped weapons from the Raider group that was there at one time and he found a ammo case of a shotgun and two boxes of shells. Scribe Haylen learned that he was a Synth and before it got reported to Kells, she and Danse got away from the airport and relocated to the resort shelter. Danse and the gang were chatting at the table and for the first time, Danse was not wearing his power armor suit.
Haylen sighed and replied, "I didn't want Maxson to kill the closest friend I've had since I joined the Brotherhood. I risk my position with them, but I really don't give a shit right now."
Piper then replied, "That Maxson is real asshole. I Can't believe he's been a leader for this long so far."
Danse then replied, "You all risk being attacked by those losers in order to save my synthetic life? You are very loyal."
They all nodded as they heard Vertibird outside and Piper groaned and replied, "Not those fuckers again!"
Danse sighed and replied, "We need to do this. Let's go and stay with me."
Haylen then replied, "I would never leave your side ever, Danse."
He smiled slightly as they all went outside.

What they were dreading was actually true now, Maxson, his captain and Rhys followed them to the resort and landed at the top of the nearby parking garage and they were all there as well. Danse was in another suit of power armor, but this one was made of destroyed pieces of his old suit and the various pieces of broken items found around the area. It took Haylen a couple of hours to finish it for him and was better then the old Brotherhood of Steel version and he can move faster and it had a part to use a duel disk as as well.
Mike sighed and replied, "Here we go."
The three walked towards them and Maxson pointed at Danse and replied, "How fucking dare you enter our troops and become a real soldier, Danse! Synths are the real enemy!"
Rhys saw Haylen and replied, "You know he's right about this, Haylen."
Haylen then replied, "I once thought of you as a friend, but not anymore."
"That doesn't bother me at all, Haylen!"
Danse sighed and replied, "I didn't even know I was actually one until Haylen found out for me."
Maxson looked at her and replied, "Your career as a Brotherhood of Steel member will be done for good if you don't return to the Prywden now, Scribe!"
Haylen then replied, "Go to hell, Maxson. He may he a Synth, but he taught me everything I needed to know about be a real soldier! I don't care if he is a synth! He's my best friend and I stand by his side!"
Piper then replied, "She's made her decision and we made ours as well! Go away and leave us the hell alone!"
Maxson then replied, "Whatever, little girl! As of now, Haylen is no longer a member of the Brotherhood and we'll make sure you never get back to the airport or the Prywden again! You're making a really big mistake!"
Haylen then replied, "I already made my decision and I'm sticking with it!"
Maxson took a laser rifle and aimed it at Danse's head and he replied, "Any last words, you foolish synth?"
He sighed and replied, "This is really how it ends for me. I tried my best to hide, but your troops are smarter and know how to search out the enemy."
"You may have a way of words, but you must be terminated here and now!"
Piper then replied, "What just a fucking minute, Maxson! Give him a chance to defend himself!"
"You stay out of this, little girl! This is between me and this robotic traitor! Say your prayers, Danse!"
Danse only sighed as he was but to pull the trigger and Haylen sighed and replied, "Some old cowardly leader."
He looked at her and replied, "What did you just say?"
Haylen then replied, "You a true coward, Maxson! You finally see your foe in person and you want to destroy him right away. You are nothing but a coward and a bully!"
"Is that so?"
"Yes, moron!"
The leadee took his rifle and placed it in his holster and he replied, "If I Want to eliminate you, I have no choice!"
He looked at Danse and replied, "You and Kells have a duel right now, Danse! If you win, the Brotherhood of Steel will no longer bother you or her again and if Kells wins, you're dead!"
Danse sighed and then he replied, "I accept your challenge, Maxson."
Suddenly, the arm of his suit of armor turned into a duel disk with a deck in it and then Rhys ran back to the Vertibird and he walked up to him and he replied, "Your duel disk, sir. the same style of disk used by the professors at Duel Academy. Ad Victoriam, sir!"
Kells nodded as he opened his jacket pocket and took a deck a cards and them slid them and then Maxson replied, "Crush this fucking pathetic waste of time and we'll make sure you'll be the 2nd in charge, Kells!"
He nodded as they both saluted each other and then both disks activated and both drew 5 cards apiece.
"Game on!", Kells yelled out.
(Captain Kells LP: 8000 / Paladin Danse LP: 8000)
Kells then replied, "Start if you to, you traitorous Synth."
Danse only sighed as he sat a monster facedown and tne he sat a card facedown down and then pointed to him and Kells nodded as he drew a card and replied, "Can't say a word, eh? I summon my Machina Soldier!"
As he sat the card down, a green android with a sharp blade for a hand appeared (ATK: 1,600) and Piper groaned and replied, "If this is a Machina deck, Danse is in for a tough fight."
"I use it's effect To Special Summon a Machina Sniper from my hand!"
As he sat another card down, a machine holding into a sniper rifle appeared (ATK: 1,800) and he nodded and replied, "Time to fight! Attack his facedown monster, Sniper!"
The machine fired its gun arm and bullets shot out and a odd machine appeared. It looked like a tank with two eyes (DEF: 1,900) and the bullet bounced off the body, not even making a dent in it and Haylen smiled and replied, "Your Sniper didn't do a damn thing to his Tankroid, Kells."
Rhys then replied, "Your kidding us, right? He's using a Vehicroid deck?"
Haylen looked at him and replied, "Is there a problem with that, Rhys? We made this deck with the cards we found since we abandoned the had added the last few cards in it before you assholes arrived."
Maxson then replied, "Your toyish machines won't beat him! Kells, do what you have to do and crush this synth!"
Kells nodded and replied, "I'll set a card and that'll end my turn now."
Paladin Danse drew a card and replied, "I summon my Battleshiproid."
As he sat the card down, a large battleship with two large eyeballs appeared (ATK: 1,800) and Kells quickly replied, "I activate Bottomless Trap Hole!"
The trap flipped up and Danse quickly discarded a card a small unicycle with a single eye appeared and it rushed and slammed into the trap, smashing both to bits and Paladin Danse replied, "When one of my Vehicroids is targeted by a card effect, I can discard my Uniroid to negate and destroy the card. I now equip it with Gravity Blaster."
Suddenly, a small turret appeared of the main cannon.
"I use its effect to give it 400 attack."
The turret (ATK: 1,800 - 2,200).
"Now, blast his Sniper."
The cannons and fired a burst of shells and cannon shots and they exploded, blowing Sniper into a pile of broken metal (Captain Kells LP: 8000 - 7600).
"Your move now."
Kells drew a card and replied, "I'll switch my monster's position and then I'll set a new monster facedown and a card facedown and that'll end my turn now."
Danse drew a card and the battleship began to glow (ATK: 2,200 - 2,600) and he nodded and replied, "I now summon my Drillroid."
As he sat the card down, a machine with a large drill-like nose appeared (ATK: 1,600) and he pointed to the Battleshiproid (ATK: 2,200 - 2,600) and then he replied, "Time to fight. Battleshiproid, fire on his Soldier."
THe machine fired a burst of machines and Machina Soldier was blown to little pieces that flew everywhere and then he pointed and Drillroid and it rushed in and a Machina Defender appeared on the card (DEF: 1,800) and it drilled a hole clean through the center of it and then a small explosion reduced it to hot pieces of metal and then Danse nodded and replied, "Any defense monster Drillroid attacks is destroyed. Your turn now."
Captain Kells drew a card and replied, "I activate the Spell Card Machina Redeployment."
The Spell appeared.
"I'lll use the effect and discard 1 card to add any 2 Machina monsters from the deck"
He discarded a Commander Covinton and added two cards and then his deck reshuffled and then he replied, "I'll now discard a Machina monster to Special Summon my Machina Air Raider."
As he discarded a Machina Cannon, a large air machine that had two fan-like wings keeping it flying appeared (ATK: 1,500) and then he replied, "I activate Inverse Universe!"
The trap flipped up and all machines began to glow (DEF: 1,900 - 1,500) - (ATK: 1,500 - 2,600) - (ATK: 2,600 - 1,500).
"Now, I summon my Machina Tank!"
As he sat the card down, a large tank with a large head that looked the one from Machina Sniper appeared as it aimed its cannon at Paladin Danse's side of the field (ATK: 1,900).
"Time to fight. Air Raider, bomb his Battleshiproid and my Machina Tank will blast your Drillroid!"
Two missiles fired from the wings and they struck and explosions happened all over the battleship before a fiery explosion ripped through the machine, sending hot pieces of metal flying over over and then Tank fired its cannon and Drillroid was reduced to hot, broken metal (Paladin Danse LP: 8000 - 6500).
"You'll never win, Synth! I'll end my turn now."
Danse drew a card and replied, "I summon my Submarineroid."
As he sat the card down, a large sub with eyes and hands appeared (ATK: 800) and Paladin Danse nodded and replied, "Direct attack."
The machine fired a torpedo and it shot out and ignored Kells two machines and exploded around the Captain (Captain Kells LP: 7600 - 6800) and then it knelt (DEF: 1,800) and he replied, "It's other ability. I'll set a card now and that'll do it for me."
Captain Kells drew a card and replied, " Air Raider will attack your Submarineroid and then Tank will blast your pathetic excuse for a tank!"
Air Raider fired two small missiles and they shot out and Danse quickly replied, "I activate Support Mission and This will get another Vehicroid from my deck since you attacked one of mine."
He did so as the missiles struck and blew the submarine to little pieces and the Machina Tank fired a burst of energy and Tankroid was reduced to pieces of broken metal and Danse replied, "When you destroy Tankroid, I get to draw a card."
He did so.
"Make your move."
Danse drew a card and replied, "I reveal my facedown monster."
AS he did so, Gyroid appeared (ATK: 1,000).
"Now, I activate Polymerization to fuse my Gyroid with the Steamroid in my hand."
The train appeared and merged together and it formed a Steamroid with blades (ATK: 2,200).
"This is the mighty Steam Gyroid."
Rhys then replied, "MIghty, my foot. It's weaker then Kell's Air Raider."
"I now activate Vehicroid Booster. It gives 1000 attack to any Vehicroid monster I have."
The machine glowed (ATK: 2,200 - 3,200) and he replied, "I'm striking down your Air Raider."
The propeller arms began to start up and a then huge windy tornado shot out and smashed through Air Raider. Pieces of broken metal rained down onto the Brotherhood group (Captain Kells LP: 6800 - 6200).
"Your turn now."
Captain Kells drew a card and replied, "I'll switch my Tank to defense and then I'll set a new monster facedown and that'll end my turn now."
Paladin Danse drew a card and replied, "I'll set a monster as well and I'll summon my Quadcoptroid."
As he sat the card down, a large quad copter with two large eyes appeared (ATK: 1,700).
"Time to fight. I attack your Tank with my Quadcoptroid."
Suddenly, two beams of light shot from the eyes and struck the tank in the center and it exploded into fiery metal (Captain Kells LP: 6200 - 5900).
"When my Quadcoptroid trashes a monster, you take 300 damage. Steam Gyroid will attack your other facedown monster."
The machine produced another wind storm and it shot out and a Scrap Recycler appeared on the card (DEF: 1,500) and was lifted in the air and blown to pieces.
"Your turn now."
Captain Kells drew a card and replied, "I activate Junk Dealer!"
The spell appeared and a badly damaged Machina Tank (ATK: 1,900 - 950) and a Machina Sniper (ATK: 1,800 - 900) and he played another card and a better working Machina Sniper appeared and then replied, "I overlay my Machina Tank, and both Snipers!"
All 3 machines glowed as they each turned into white orbs and a portal opened up, which they flew into.
"I use these 3 monsters to build the Overlay Network and Xyz Summon! Appear before me now..Machina Moving Fortress!"
As he sat the card down, a large machine with 6 large red metal legs appeared and the body looked like a combo of Machina Fortress and Machina Megaform and there were 4 cannons (two on each side) (ATK: 2,500).
"Now, I remove a Xyz Material monster to give my fortress more power equal to half of the discarded monster and I choose to discard Machina Tank!"
As he discarded the card, the machine began to glow (ATK: 2,500 - 3,450).
"Destroy his Steam Gyroid!"
The cannons and the fired a barrage of attacks and the Vehicroid was reduced to hot metal & globs of hot slag (Paladin Danse LP: 6500 - 5250) and Maxson laughed and replied, "A little bit more and this pathetic synth will be no more!"
Rhys only stared at his back with a annoyed look. He knew synths were the enemies, but he was getting tired of the imsults thrown at him. Danse taught him and Haylen everything he knew about being a amazing soldier and team player. If it wasn't for Danse, he would not be the talented soldier he is now.
"Take that, freak! I end my turn now."
Danse drew a card and replied, "I'll switch my Quadcoptroid to defense and then I'll set a new monster facedown and that'll end my turn now."
Captain Kells drew a card and replied, "Mechanicalchaser, come forth!"
As he sat the card down, the many armed machine appeared (ATK: 1,850).
"Mechanicalchaser will attack your copter and my Moving Fortress will blast your facedown monster!"
The machine rushed and slashed and stabbed with its arm, blowing the copter to pieces and then the Moving Fortress fired its cannons and a odd machine with two eyes appeared (DEF: 1,800) before the attack blasted it to little pieces and Paladin Danse nodded and replied, "When Einroid is destroyed, two Vehicroid monsters are discarded from the deck."
He quickly got two cards and discarded them both.
"Make your move, synth."
Paladin Danse drew a card and replied, "I activate Foolish Burial."
He played the spell and discarded another and then reshuffled and replied, "Now, I banish my Stealthroid, Strikerroid and Turboroid to Special Summon my Solidroid Beta."
As he banished the cards, a stealth jet, a jet fighter and a rocket flew into the air and they vanished from sight, a huge jet fighter-like mech appeared (ATK: 2,500) and Danse smiled and replied, "When this one is summoned, one of your cards is destroyed."
Two missiles appeared on both wings and they launched and they exploded around the hull of the huge Xyz and then a huge fiery explosion ripped through it, sending burnt metal and globs of slag everywhere.
"Destory his Mechanicalchaser."
The missiles fired out again and the Mechanicalchaser was blown to pieces (Captain Kells LP: 6200 - 5550) and Maxson replied, "Kells, you need to win this duel! Show this damn synth how a real soldier works!"
"shut it, Maxson!", Rhys yelled out.
Everyone looked at Kells and Maxson replied, "Want to repeat that, Rhys?"
"He may be a synth, but he is one amazing duelist. A much better duelist then you or Kells will ever be! I was wrong to help you both terminate Danse! Haylen and Danse are my closest friends right now and I refuse to do anything to lose them! Working with you or the Brotherhood is not worth it anymore, you huge prick! I fucking quit!"
He slammed his rifle onto the ground and he replied, "I never brought my deck with me and you idiots can keep it!"
He walked over to Haylen and he replied, "Sorry I was hard on you for wanting to leave the Brotherhood, Haylen."
She smiled and hugged him and then he looked at Danse and replied, "Lets watch your deck crush his shitty one, Paladin."
Danse nodded and then Maxson then replied, "You just made the biggest mistake over. I would of promoted you to Paladin!"
"Didn't you hear a damn word I said to you? I don't care about you or the Brotherhood anymore!"
Paladin Danse nodded and replied, "Thanks for that, Rhys. My turn is over now."
Captain Kells drew a card and replied, "I activate Spellbook in the Pot!"
Both drew 3 cards and he replied, "I now discard my 2nd Air Raider to raise my Machina Fortress from my hand!"
As he discarded the card, one of the famous members of the Machina army appeared and its cannon was aiming at Danse's side of the field (ATK: 2,500).
"Now, I activate Elemental Curse!"
The spell appeared.
"I banish 1 monster from my graveyard and one of my monsters loses 1500 attack and defense with the same attribute as on the field.
He took his Air Raider and banished it and the Solidroid began to rust (ATK: 2,500 - 1,000).
"Attack!"
The machine fired its turret cannon and a burst of bullets shot out and tore through the chest of the huge Machine. Sparks flew from the chest of the before the huge explosion ripped through the machine and then fiery metal rained down on the field (Paladin Danse LP: 5250 - 3750).
"Your turn now, Synth."
Paladin Danse drew a card and replied, "I activate Treasured Cards from Heaven."
Both drew until each had 6 cards and he replied, "I activate Vehicroid Fusion Device."
THe Spell appeared.
"I select 1 Vehicroid Fusion monster in my Extra Deck and I banish monsters from my side of the field, hand or graveyard that are required to summon it and I'm banishing Battleshiproid, Submarineroid, Einroid and my Gyroid."
The 4 machines appeared and flew into the spell and that card vanished, a huge battleship with cannons everywhere and and had two large eyes on the front as well (ATK: 4,000).
"Meet the mighty Super Vehicroid Sea Fortress."
Haylen smiled and replied, "One of the rarest Vehicroid cards in the game."
"Time to finish you fools off. I activate Limitor Removal."
The machine began to glow (ATK: 4,000 - 8,000).
"Attack his Machina Fortress!"
The cannons fired and the Fortress was blasted to pieces as the attack struck it down (Captain Kells LP: 5550 - 50) and then Paladin Danse smiled and replied, "Due to my Sea Fortress's effect, your fortress's effect can't destroy it and also when it destroys a monster in battle, you take damage equal to half of the attack of your monsters original attack power. You lose."
The cannons fired again and the blast of the attack sending Kells flying onto his back (Captain Kells LP: 50 - 0) and Haylen smiled and replied, "What a deck this is."
Piper smiled and replied, "You lose, Brotherhood!"
