*** Lexa's narrative (voice-over) ***
Love was a word I recently discovered. For me, love never existed in my world till she found me...
Alex. - "It's okay... I'm not gonna hurt you. I promise..."
Lexa hesitates to get out of the cell. Is this a trap? Can she really trust in this adult? She might be too little to understand this world, but she knows that the eyes don't lie. And, the eyes of this woman showed no evil, no harm. And, that's why, despite what her mind is telling her, Lexa decides to trust her, and, when she does it, Alex hugs her... Lexa's 1st hug, and, it's warm, it's cozy, it's home... it's love...
Lexa bursts in tears, she can finally put her guard down, she can finally feel something else than fear...
Alex. - "It's okay... it's gonna be okay..."
*** Lexa's narrative (voice-over) ***
She found me... she hugged me... she took me in, and, just like that, between all the darkness... a ray of love arrived to my world...
Lexa screams under her sleep, it's another nightmare, it's another memory of the days she lived in a cell without light. How people can be so cruel? She was just a kid. A kid who might have spent her days as a slave if it wasn't for...
Alex. - "Lexa!"
It's their first week together. The paperwork is still in process to be her legal guardian, but, in Alex's heart, this kid is already hers. And, that's why she doesn't hesitate to jump into the room of the kid as soon as she hears the screams...
The DEO agent gets into the room, in battle mode on! She's afraid that those alien traffickers are trying to get Lexa back. And, if that's the case, they should better pray for their soul because no one will touch that kid... not on her watch... but, thankfully, when Alex gets into the room, there's no one there besides a very scared kid...
Alex puts down her gun, and, mumbles. - "Oh, Lexa... another nightmare...?"
The little brunette is shaking, she's scared, she doesn't feel safe till someone wrapped her in a big, tender hug...
Alex softly rubs Lexa's back and, says. - "You're okay... you're safe... I'm here... I'll always be here..."
The soft voice of Alex, it's so sweet, it's so cozy that before knowing it, Lexa finds herself, already happily snoring in the arms of the dear Agent...
*** Lexa's narrative (voice-over) ***
Love... what is love for you? For me, love is a hug... it's her hugs...
Lexa smiles. - "Mum! Mum! Mum!"
The little alien rushes to welcome Alex home. And, the dear Agent opens her arms, to hug her. The little brunette is still shy when she's alone with Eliza, but, the moment Alex gets into the room, she becomes another person, full of light, full of tenderness... like any other kid...
Eliza pouts. - "Oh... I want too, one of those hugs..."
Alex chuckles. - "Just give her time, Mum. She's still getting used to us..."
Eliza. - "Maybe. At least, she sees you already as her mother. And, that's good..."
The DEO Agent sighs deeply, she doesn't want to impose an appellation she doesn't think she deserves, at least not yet...
Alex kneels in front of Lexa, and, says to her. - "You know, Lexa. You can call me Alex, if you want..."
She wants to make clear that the little brunette doesn't have any obligation to call her 'mother', or, 'mum', or anything else. But, in the eyes of Lexa, Alex is the meaning of the 1st word she learned to say in English...
Lexa shakes her head. - "No... Mum! U, Mum!"
Alex chuckles, and hugs her with a big smile, while she mumbles. - "Yes, I'm your mum..."
*** Alex's narrative (voice-over) ***
What is love? According to the dictionary, love is a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person... a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection... like you have never felt before...
Alex. - "Lexa...?"
The DEO Agent wonders why Lexa is acting so shy when she arrives home. It's very late, she should already be asleep. So, why the little brunette is not in bed already? Alex wonders, and, she looks at her mother, trying to find a reasonable reason for it, but, Eliza says nothing, she just gives Lexa a little push, encouraging the little girl to show what she's hiding behind her...
Alex. - "What is coming on here, mum?"
Eliza. - "Be patient..." (She pushes Lexa forwards, towards Alex, and, says to the kid) "Lexa. C'mon, show her..."
Alex frowns. - "Show me what?"
Lexa presses her lips, she curls her feet, and, gets very shy to show what she holds between her hands. Behind her back... It seems that the little one needs another push to go forwards, so...
Eliza. - "Well, Alex. What day is today...?"
Alex. - "Sunday..."
Eliza frowns, she should be upset with her own child for working during the weekend, and not knowing what holiday is today. But, since it's the first time for Alex as a mother, she will give her a free pass... at least this time...
Eliza. - "And, what do you celebrate this 'Sunday'...?"
Alex mumbles. - "Celebrate...?"
The Agent looks at her phone, not sure about what her mother is talking till she realizes what DAY is today, today is...
Alex. - "It's Mother's day..."
Eliza nods. Alex apologizes for forgetting the date, and, Eliza tells her that's okay. She really doesn't need a gift, she has plenty in her life thanks to the grandkids she gets to watch every day, and, talking about grandkids...
Lexa shyly mumbles. - "For you.."
The little girl shyly gives to Alex the handmade present she did for her, with all her love. It's a story book. Alex chuckles, looking at all the drawings. And, like any child's drawing, it's not so simple, to understand what is the story behind so many forms. But, in each page, in the middle of each scene, there's always a hero drawn...
Alex. - "Oh. So, it's a Supergirl story tale?"
Lexa angrily pouts. - "NO!"
Alex raises an eyebrow. - "No?"
Looking at the sketch, it seems to be a girl, in hero pose, saving the day, but, if it's not Supergirl, who's it? And, since Alex cannot figure it out...
Lexa exclaims. - "It's SUPER ALEX!"
Alex. - "Me?!"
Lexa nods, she gets excited to tell the tale of her storybook. Using her toys, and, pointing out at the drawings she did, she tries to give life to her story...
Alex mumbles with watery-eyes. - "She made a book about me...? As a hero...?
Eliza. - "You're her hero, Alex..."
Tears of happiness fall from Alex's eyes. She never thought that she could be a better hero than Supergirl, but, in the eyes of Lexa, there's no better hero... no better warrior... no better person than...
Lexa exclaims. - "Super Alex! Saved the day!"
Eliza and, Alex chuckle. And, from that day. This handmade story book became their favorite bedtime story...
*** Alex's narrative (voice-over) ***
Love... it comes in so many forms... in so many ways. But, as a parent, I can tell you that you don't know what is the real meaning of love till you hold your child for the first time. Till this tiny sweetheart becomes your everything... your world... a world you swear to protect with your life. And, you're so sure that you'll be able to keep that promise... but, you're wrong...
Alex cries. - "Please, please, please. Don't die! Don't die!"
The Agent is desperate, shaking the little kid who doesn't open her eyes. And, Alex is trained to keep it calm, to act according with the protocol under any situation. But, what protocol you're supposed to follow when your world is dying in your arms...? What training prepares you to see your kid dying in front of your eyes...?
Alex sobs. - "Please... please... don't..." (tears, and, a wrenching voice) "Don't leave me..."
What do we do?! What do we should do?! Lena wonders. There's chaos around them. And, even if Brainy arrives in the next minutes, there's a big chance that little Lexa wouldn't make it to the hospital. She has lost too much blood. And, in a moment like this, it seems that Death is the only end, and, it breaks Lena's heart to think that this kid will die... she's part of the family, she's Alex's world. And, if Lexa dies today, it will break Alex forever...
Lena has no idea of what to do besides staying beside Alex. She has never seen Alex crying so much in her life. But, who she's kidding? She would be a worse mess if she was in her shoes. And, thinking about it...
Lena. - "OMG! Kara and the kids..."
Alex sobs. - "They are okay..."
Lena nods, she believes in Alex's words, and, she fights this impulse, she has to walk away and look for them because she cannot leave Alex alone... not now...
The chaos around them becomes nothing when the only they can focus is on how Lexa's breathing is slowly turning down. And, Alex burst into tears when the little chest of Lexa is not moving anymore...
Alex cries. - "No, no, no, noooooo!"
Tears are blurring Alex eyes, and, Lena tries to find a tissue to wipe off those tears. But, when the CEO looks into her pockets for a Kleenex, her eyes get bigger of shock when she finds something else instead of the tissu...
Lena mumbles to herself. - "I've the Harun-El serum with me...?"
She doesn't remember putting the last version of the serum in her pocket. How did it get there? Lena wonders. And, while she's trying to make sense of why she's carrying it on so easily. Alex's eyes see this like the last hope she has to not lose her world...
Alex. - "Give me that!"
Lena. - "Alex... I'm not sure this can work, I..."
Alex yells. - "I'll not ask again, LENA! Give me that fucking serum! NOW!"
Lena gulps hard looking at the red eyes of Alex. Red for all the crying. There's despair in her eyes, and, the CEO doesn't want to give her false hopes. But, at this point. Do they have any other choice?
Lena. - "Here... take it. But, since Lexa is not a human neither a Kriptonian. I have no idea how her body will react to it..."
Alex nods, like a doctor, like a scientist, she knows the potential risks of any experimental drug. But, whatever happens after injecting this Harun-El in Lexa's body, Alex will deal with it later. Right now, the only that matters it's to save Lexa, she needs Lexa to live, she will figure out the rest later...
Alex mumbles. - "Super Alex will save the day again... I promise..."
The DEO Agent nails the needle into Lena's chest. The black serum gets into the little body of the brunette. It spreads fast, through the veins... the red blood becomes black, completely black and then...
Lexa opens her eyes and deeply exhales. - "HAHHHH!"
Alex smiles. - "LEXA!"
For a second, Lena worries because Lexa's eyes are completely black. But, then she feels like she can breathe again when they return to the normality... green...
Lena mumbles. - "It worked...?" (big smile) "It worked!"
Alex is still having problems to believe it. But, when the DEO Agent raises the T-shirt, they witness how the bullet wound is self-closing...
Lena. - "OMG, it really works!"
This might be the discovery of the century. But, nothing of that matters for them now. The only that matters, it's that Lexa is still breathing, she's still here... in their world...
Lexa mumbles. - "Mum...?"
Alex chuckles, with tears in her eyes, for a moment, she thought she would never hear that voice again... that word again...
Alex caresses Lexa's hair, and, says. - "I'm here... I'm here..."
Lexa smiles, she has no idea of what happened after she got shot, but, she's sure that Super Alex saved the day, like always...
*** Alex's narrative (voice over) ***
Throughout the lows and the highs, we live in an interminable roller coaster of emotions. We never know when the next low point will arrive. But, at the end of the day, all we can do is be grateful that we didn't need to say goodbye today... that you're still here, at my side... that you're still in my world...
(At Alex's place)
Clarke cries. - "LEXA!"
The little blonde rushes to hug the convalescent brunette...
Alex. - "Clarke, careful! Do not crawl into her bed! She's..."
Eliza. - "She's okay, Alex... she's okay..."
Her mother tries her best to stop the train of bad thoughts. But, Alex cannot stop worrying about the little brunette. She's still shaking by the previous events that they lived today...
Alex sadly mumbles in tears. - "I almost lost her today, mum..."
Eliza. - "I know... I know..."
The old Danvers hugs her daughter, trying to calm her down. She knows the fear that Alex is passing through right now. It's the same kind of fear she lives every day when her two daughter are out there, trying to save the world. Alex never put herself in Eliza's shoes before, till now. And, she has no idea of how the hell Eliza has made it this far without breaking down...
And, Alex is right. The job of being a mother, it never gets easier. But, you cannot live in constant fear. You cannot always protect your kids from the dangers of the world. All you can do, is be there for them, to love them as much as you can, as long as you can. And, just hope for the best... even if you're not sure if the best will ever arrive...
Lena. - "Kara... I need to..."
Kara. - "We need to talk..."
Lena nods, and, gulps hard. She didn't want Kara to find out about the Harun-El like this. She wants to explain why she has done so many things that might look wrong but...
Kara. - "Let's talk later at home. Right now, let's just focus on Alex and, Lexa. They need us. Okay...?"
Lena nods. - "Okay..."
With two doctors and a genius as Lena. Lexa is in really good hands. They check Lexa's vitals, they do blood analysis in Lena's lab. And, they do all in their power to make sure that the little girl is okay...
Kara. - "Is she gonna be okay...?"
Alex nods. The medical reports don't lie. Lexa is out of danger, they are still not sure of what will be the side effects of having the Harun-El running through her veins. But, beside the dark blood, nothing else seems different... at least for now...
Kara hugs her sister, and, says. - "I'm so happy for you, guys! It's good news, Alex!"
Alex nods, she should be jumping for joy, but, she's not...
Kara. - "Alex... talk to me... what is on your mind...?"
The DEO Agent takes a deep breath, and, decides to share her concerns with her little sister...
Alex. - "I'm thinking about quitting..."
Kara says in shock. - "Are you serious?! Alex, you're the DEO Director, you..."
Alex. - "I saw my kid take a bullet for me, Kara!"
Kara gulps hard
Alex. - "She almost died in my arms!"
Kara can't imagine how scary that must have been for Alex. And, she really hopes that she will never find it out...
Alex deeply exhales, and, says. - "The job is becoming too much, Kara... too dangerous. I'm all she has... she's everything for me..."
Kara nods, she knows the feeling. But, she also knows that right now, Alex is driven by the emotions she lived today. That's why she convinced her to take a moment to think about this, before making any final decision. Alex agrees to not rush any change of career. And, it's very late when Kara and, Lena decide that it's time to go home...
It took them more than an hour to detach Clarke from Lexa. The little blonde wasn't willing to leave Lexa' side. But, in the end, it was Lexa who convinced her to go home. Clarke left with a pout, but, also with the promise to come tomorrow morning, and spend the entire day with her. And, while Eliza fell asleep on Alex's bed, the dear DEO Agent stands under the frame door of Lexa's room... staring at the kid in silence till...
Lexa. - "Mum... are you leaving to save the world...?"
Alex shakes her head, she gets into Lexa's bed, and, gets cozy, wrapping her arms around Lexa when she says. - "I'm not going anywhere... I'm staying here. At your side..." (she softly kisses Lexa's head, and, says) "Thank you for saving my life..."
Lexa smiles, she snuggles into Alex's embrace. And, they fell asleep, smiling, hugging each other. Right now, Alex should be dealing with so many things in the DEO. But, it's Brainly who's finally handling everything because Alex chooses to stay by Lexa's side...
And, while this mother is choosing to stay with her kid, and, protect her. Another mother is choosing the opposite..
(At the Luthor mansion)
Lex smirks. - "Good to see you, mother..."
The old woman smirks without saying a word, she just slowly gets closer to him. And, once they're finally face to face. She points out a gun directly to his head...
Lex. - "Are you really gonna kill me mother? Me, your only son...?"
Lillian. - "You're not my only child, Lex..."
Lex. - "I'm the only one who has your blood..."
It's true that Lena doesn't share her blood, but, even if that's true, right now, she's choosing her over Lex. But, before pulling of the trigger, she needs to ask...
Lillian. - "You don't seem like a dying man..."
Lex smirks. - "Well, Lena & I, we find a cure for me..."
Lillian. - "You wouldn't have taken the serum if you weren't sure at 100% that it works..."
Lex makes no comment, he just deviously smiles...
Lillian. - "What a coincidence that an anti-alien attack occurred precisely in the same park where Lena's family was present. Don't you think, Lex...?"
Lex. - "Exactly. What are you accusing me of, mother?"
Lillian. - "The Agent Liberty and his followers are your pawns. I know that, just like I know that the attack of today was your fault too..."
Lex deviously smirks, and, Lillian always loved that smirk till today, till the day he dared to put in danger her little heirs...
Lillian. - "They are children, Lex! How do you dare to put in danger their lives!"
Lex. - "Oh! C'mon Mother! You know as well as me that those kids weren't in danger. They might be useless kids now, but, without Kriptonite in the battlefield. It was obvious that they would be okay..."
Lillian gulps hard. Lex is right. He didn't plan an attack with Kriptonite. So, the kids neither Kara... they weren't the target... then why he did it? What was the point of orchestrating such chaos...? Lillian doesn't understand why he did it, but, someone else has a clear hint of why he did it... of why she found the serum in her pocket even if she was sure that she didn't put it there...
Lena angrily snaps.- "You, bastard! You put kids in danger! Families! So, I would be forced to test the Harun-El serum!"
The CEO was supposed to be with her family. But, she didn't see Lillian after they took different pathways during the chaotic events. And, even if she had plenty in her plate already, not knowing where was her mother, it bugged her. That's why she traced her... she traced Lillian here... doing what she promised to do: killing Lex. And, the first impulse of Lena was to stop such atrocity, but, when she heard their conversation, when she finally figured out that once again she got played by her brother... saving Lex from Lillian became the last of her concerns...
Lex says with a mocking tone. - "Oh, Lena. I'm disappointed that it took you this long to finally figure it out. Well, mostly because you missed one thing..."
Lena. - "What?! The fact that you gave the order to one of your men to shoot Alex. So, I would be forced to save her life using the Harun-El?!"
Lex. - "Well that's true. In the end, she didn't get hurt, but, you finished testing the serum anyway, so, that part went well, even if the test subject changed at the last minute..."
Lena bares her teeth, Lexa almost died today because of him! And, if she's angry about it, you've no idea of how Alex will feel when she finds out. People bring out the worst of you when they go after someone you love, someone who's the world to you, and, that's why Alex will not be the only who will want to kill Lex Luthor because...
Lex. - "I'm also behind the Kriptonite's incident that almost killed your family, Lena... How do you think that Mercy knew how to use the device to disperse Kriptonite in the air...?" (evil smirk) "I told her how..."
And, that's all she needed to hear to make his death as her top priority...
Lena angrily says. - "I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" (She struggles with her mother who tries to stop her) "LET ME KILL HIM!"
Lillian. - "No! Do not give him the pleasure to become a monster like him..."
Lena doesn't care what she might become when she kills him, she just needs to kill him with her own hands. The two Luthor women struggle, and, Lex just laughed at the scene...
Lena. - "Don't laugh, bastard! I'll kill you! I swear I'll kill you with my own hands!"
Lex keeps laughing, he really doesn't think Lena has it in her, to kill him, but, he couldn't be more wrong. Lena pushes her mother away, she takes Lillian's gun as she does it, and, she's ready to shoot him because no one touches Lena's family, and, gets away with it... even if this time, he will walk away free, because...
Eve emerges from behind them, and, points out a gun directly to Lena's head, and, says. - "Miss. Luthor, you cannot kill him..."
Lex smirks. - "Miss. Teschmarcher, good timing..."
The first impulse of Lillian was to come between the gun and Lena. And, she has been an awful mother to Lena, an awful legal guardian. But, she will not let her die, she can't... her little heirs need Lena. Everyone seems surprised by it, Lex is a little annoyed, but, regardless of this change of heart coming from Lillian, what was more shocking above all, it was to find out that Eve, Lena's assistant was working with Lex... all along...
Lena says in shock. - "Eve...?! You work for HIM?!"
Eve. - "Sorry, not sorry..."
Lena gulps hard. - "How long?"
For how long had she been a fool? For how long has she been working with the enemy? For how long has she been betrayed? Lena wonders while she turns around and look iat the woman n the eyes... the wioman who was supposed to be her right hand...
Eve. - "Forever... it's nothing personal..."
Lena. - "It's personal for me..."
Of course it's personal for Lena, any treason from someone she gives her trust is personal! And, Lena doesn't know what hurts more, the fact that she has been betrayed again by someone she considered a friend, or, the fact that she was stupid enough to not see the game that Lex has been played all along...
Lex. - "Do not shoot, Miss. Teschmacher. My sister may be happy to kill me, but, I have no intention to kill her..." (big smirk) "At least, not now... not now that I'm this close to have it all..."
Lena angrily says. - "What are you really up to, Lex...?"
Lex smirks. - "Oh, Lena, you'll need to learn to be patient to find out what it's my endgame here. But, don't worry, I promise you'll get a first-row seat when the time comes..." (he looks at his mother and, says) "The same goes for you, mother..."
Lillian gulps hard, she has another gun hidden on her back, but, she doesn't dare to start a firefight, not when Lena can get hurt in the crossfire. So, for now both women will have to stay calm while they see Lex, walking away with Eve at his side...
Eve asks once they are in the helicopter. - "Where now, Lex?"
Lex. - "Kaznia..."
*** Lena's narrative (voice-over) ***
How many times I've been betrayed? Used? Played? Lied? How many times I'll feel the dagger of betrayal in my back...? Treason... I'm not stranger to the word... I know how much damage can cause... how much it can hurt me. Then why I betray too when I know how much it hurts...?
(At Kara & Lena's place)
It's very late when Lena arrives home with her mother Lillian. Kara is shocked to see Lillian, out of prison, there's no way the police just let her go, but, she decides not to make any buzz about it when she sees the exhaustion in their faces. Kara makes no comment, at least not till Lillian is out of the picture, sleeping in the guest room...
Kara. - "Everyone is asleep, Lee..."
Lena nods...
Kara. - "And, we need to talk..."
Lena sighs. - "No, now darling, I..."
Kara cuts her off with a serious voice. - "I'll leave you right now, if you don't tell me the truth from A to Z..."
Lena says in shock. - "What?! You've to be kidding me...?!"
The blonde stands in front of the CEO, they stand face to face, looking at each other in the eyes when...
Kara says with determination. - "Lena. Or you come clean now, or, you lose me for good..."
Lena gulps hard. Somehow, all her tiredness fades when Kara says those words. The blonde wants answers, and, Lena is not sure to give them, but at this point, the raven-haired woman has no choice but to tell everything to Kara. The question is, what will Kara do after hearing the entire truth...?

Nothing hurts more than be betrayed by someone you love. It's the worst feeling in the world. You know it, and even then, you dare to plant that hurtful feeling in those you love... you might find excuses to justify your secrets, but even if you think you had good reason to act like you did... it doesn't mean that the others will think the same. And, one lie... one treason can cost you everything.. all your world...
