Yay! Year One is finally done! Will have a two week hiatus so I can look over what I have written for year two and hopefully finish writing year 3! Look forward to see where this story can go! who knows, maybe one of our Hogwarts friends will become a Gargoyle Mutant! No promises, though!

Let's get this thing going!

Brooklyn woke a few hours later, his body sore all over from the stunning spell and the magic net. He felt bed covers on him. When his eyes opened, he saw that he was in the Hospital Wing.

He looked around, trying to find Harry, and he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw him lying on a bed a couple of lengths away. He still appeared to be unconscious.

"Harry? Harry?" Brooklyn said in a somewhat weak voice but it seemed to wake him. He opened his eyes, turned and saw Brooklyn.

"Hey," he greeted, smiling a bit. "Do you know who saved us?" Brooklyn shrugged. "I was unconscious." But then a new voice spoke up.

"I believe it was my doing." They turned to see Dumbledore smiling at them.

Brooklyn was surprised to see him. "I thought you were called to the Ministry of Magic!" He exclaimed.

"Well, when I was about to leave, I realized it was too much of a coincidence to be called away right before you four went to get the Stone, so I returned and was able to get the word from Miss Granger that you and Harry were in trouble and pulled you both out of there."

"But what about the Stone?" Brooklyn suddenly remembered. Dumbledore held up his hand. "Not to worry, my friend. The Stone has been destroyed. Nicholas and I have had a little chat, and we've agreed it was for the best."

Brooklyn and Harry both glanced at each other, a terrible thought filling their minds.

"Then, Flamel and his wife will die, won't they?" Brooklyn asked in concern. He'd never knew them since he only had heard about them, but he couldn't help but feel sad for the couple passing on after living all their years together.

Dumbledore noticed Brooklyn's sadness. "They've had enough elixir to set their affairs in order. And besides, death is but the next big adventure!"

Harry had another question, though.

"How did I get the Stone, sir? One moment I was looking in the mirror and-"

Dumbledore then winked at them. "Ah, now that was a little something I came up with. Somebody who wanted to find the Stone, find it, but not use it, would be able to get it. That was one of my more brilliant ideas."

The gargoyle felt respect for the headmaster rise. He seemed to know what he was doing.

But then Brooklyn had another thought. "Dumbledore, before I passed out, I saw that when Harry grabbed Quirrell's hand, it burned." The headmaster smiled again.

"Do you know why he wouldn't let Harry touch him?" They both shook their heads.

"It was because of Harry's mother. She sacrificed herself for him. And that kind of act leaves a mark. But this kind of mark cannot be seen."

"What is it?" Harry asked.

"Love, Harry. It is love." Dumbledore answered simply.

"Oh, and Brooklyn, I wrote a letter to the Minister of Magic about you protecting Harry, and helping him get the Stone. And he agreed that you weren't dangerous like a lot of people thought, and requested that you be the first gargoyle Guardian of Hogwarts, and that he won't try to send anyone to bring you in."

Brooklyn was stunned. He never thought he'd get a high honor like this in a new place. His own castle! If only Goliath could see this, he thought to himself. Harry looked proud of him, too.

"I, Sir, I-I don't-" he stuttered, not knowing what to say. Dumbledore simply smiled.

"There is no need to thank me, young one. Just rest and be ready for the end of year feast tonight. The House Cup points are ready to be given out."

But Brooklyn managed to get his cool back as he spoke again. "Professor, when I first arrived, I didn't think anybody would help me adjust here. But since I met Harry, I felt like that was the best thing that had ever happened. I now feel even more hopeful about finding my Clan than I first did. And I just want to say thank you for accepting me for what I am."

Dumbledore bowed his head, and then saw all the candy that their friends left. "Ah, Bertie Bots Every Flavor Beans. I was unfortunate in my youth to come across a vomit flavored one. And now I'm afraid I've lost my liking for them."

Brooklyn smiled a bit. "Never really wanted to try them, myself."

Dumbledore pulled one out. "But I guess I can be safe with a nice toffee?" He ate it, and coughed.

"Alas! Ear wax!"

Both Harry and Brooklyn laughed as Dumbledore gave them a wave and left the Hospital Wing.

After another few hours of being pestered by Madam Pomfrey, who was kind, but really strict, she finally agreed to let Brooklyn and Harry leave and head to the feast.

As they left, they spotted two of their close friends, who turned around and smiled at the sight of them.

"You guys alright?" Brooklyn asked. Ron shrugged "Alright, you?" Harry also shrugged. "And Hermione?"

Hermione smiled. "Never better!" She then without warning gave Brooklyn and Harry quick hugs, leaving them slightly stunned.

"We've really missed you two," she said. Brooklyn grinned.

"Well, life would be boring if we weren't around," he joked. They all laughed as they headed to the feast together.

At the Gryffindor table, Brooklyn was sitting in between Harry and Ron with Fred and George across from him.

"We've heard that you saw You-Know-Who on the back of Quirrell's head!"

" and that you tried to attack him on your own to save Harry in full force! Without magic!"

Brooklyn felt embarrassed. "He stunned me, though," he mumbled awkwardly.

The twins smirked. "Don't be bashful! I'm sure that people have asked you these type of questions before when you save them!"

Brooklyn bowed his head a bit. "Not really."

They both gasped dramatically. "No way! What are they thinking! You're awesome!"

He ended up smiling a little at their compliment. "Thanks, I guess."

At that moment, Dumbledore called attention, and announced the House Points, with Gryffindor in 4th place and (of course) Slytherin in 1st place.

Brooklyn narrowed his eyes accross to the Slytherin table, where Malfoy was peering at him while overcelebrating with his cronies, Crabbe and Goyle.

"Yes, well done Slytherin, however, given what has happened in the past few months, I have a few last minute points to award."

They looked at each other in surprise.

"First, to miss Hermione Granger, for pure use of intellect while others were in grave peril, 50 points."

Everybody clapped as Brooklyn smiled proudly at Hermione, who looked ready to cry.

"Next, to Mr. Ronald Weasley. For the best played game of chess that Hogwarts has seen these many years, 50 points."

Ron blushed all the way to his red hair as Percy stood up. "That's my little brother! He took on McGonagall's giant chess set!"

After everyone settled down, Dumbledore spoke again.

"And third, to Mr. Harry Potter."

Brooklyn turned to his brother, who was looking happier than ever.

"For pure nerve and outstanding courage, I award Gryffindor House 60 points."

The great hall's cheers filled the room. They were now tied with Slytherin. The gargoyle couldn't be more proud of his brother than ever.

But Dumbledore wasn't done yet. "And finally, it takes great bravery to stand up to your enemies, and a great deal more to stand up to your friends."

Brooklyn was a bit confused about who he was talking about, but then sudden memories hit him, of Neville, who tried to stop them from breaking more rules. No one is more brave than that, he thought.

"I hereby award ten points to Neville Longbottom!"

I knew it! Brooklyn thought with happiness as an even greater cheer rose in the hall than ever, as people went to pat Neville on the back, who looked stunned at the idea of winning any points.

Dumbledore smiled. "Assuming that my calculations are correct, I believe that a change of decoration is in order!" He clapped his hands and the Slytherin banners changed to Gryffindors.

"Gryffindor wins the House Cup!" Dumbledore announced in happiness.

If somebody outside heard the noise from the castle, they would have thought an explosion took place. Even Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff were celebrating the downfall of Slytherin.

"And," Dumbledore called above the noise. "The Ministry of Magic has approved Brooklyn the Gargoyle as the new Guardian of Hogwarts!"

Ron and Hermione stared in happy disbelief at Brooklyn as many of the students cheered for him as well. Brooklyn felt embarrassed, but pleased by the attention he felt he really didn't deserve as few of the students came up to congratulate him.

Harry gave his friend the biggest smile yet as they continued to celebrate throughout the evening.

Of all the nights, Brooklyn wouldn't ever forget this one. He had new human allies and a new brother. Nothing could get better than this.

Still miss you guys, but I will find you soon, I promise, he thought to himself.

Before they knew it, their trunks and owls were packed, with Brooklyn discovering Scabbers hiding under Ron's blanket. The rat looked scared of him and squeaked again. Something just didn't seem right about that rat's eyes. It still almost looked human to Brooklyn. He handed Scabbers to Ron as they made their way to the train station.

Brooklyn and Harry managed to get his trunk into the compartment before they saw Hagrid waving them over.

He smiled at them. "Though' yeh were leavin' without sayin' goodbye, did yeh?"

"We wouldn't forget you, Hagrid," Brooklyn said.

"Actually, Brooklyn, I have a couple things fer you." Hagrid said, reaching behind him. Brooklyn shook his head.

"No, Hagrid, you didn't have to-"

"Your the new guardian of Hogwarts, Brooklyn. Yeh deserve some type of thankyou gift fer protectin' 'Arry." Then he pulled out a cage that held a handsome barn owl, asleep in its cage. Brooklyn stared in disbelief. His very own owl!

"Though' you coul' use one since you'd be stayin' at the Leaky Cauldron while 'Arry's at the Dursleys, so you can stay in touch. And…"

He pulled out a smaller device which had a light on it and looked like a wristwatch.

Brooklyn raised his brow. "What's that?" He asked. Hagrid smiled.

"Trouble detector. It senses whenever anyone you're attached to is in trouble. Can help you know if 'Arry's having trouble with his relatives."

Brooklyn took it and put it around his wrist. "Thank you," he said. "You really didn't have to do this, but I appreciate it."

Hagrid nodded to him and turned to Harry.

"An' this is fer you," he gave Harry what looked like a book. Harry opened it and found photos inside. Photos of his parents. Brooklyn smiled at how happy they looked holding a two month old Harry Potter. Harry turned the page and found a picture of all four of them smiling.

He looked up. "Thank you, Hagrid." And hugged him.

Brooklyn stood there with his new owl as he watched the beautiful moment between them. He suddenly heard the train whistle.

"Harry, we have to go," he said. Harry and Hagrid broke away. "An' 'Arry, if that dolt of a cousin of yers, Dudley, gives yeh any grief, yeh can always fake threaten to use magic on him."

Harry frowned. "But Hagrid, we're not allowed to use magic outside of Hogwars, you know that."

Hagrid smirked. "I know, but yer cousin don' do he?" Brooklyn chuckled as they both waved to Hagrid as they climbed onto the train after he placed his owl with Hedwig.

Harry and Brooklyn both looked out the window along with Ron and Hermione.

"Feels strange to be going home, doesn't it?" Hermione questioned. Harry shook his head. "I'm not going home, not really."

Brooklyn knew what he meant. He only saw Hogwarts as his first real home. As the train began to move, he thought of his family again. He hoped he would find them again, one day. If not today, but another day.

This was only the beginning of Brooklyn's new life as the Guardian of Hogwarts.

I will see you all in two weeks for the Chamber of Secrets! :D
