"All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous contest! " Midnight explained. "The track is four kilometers around the around the outside of the stadium! I don't want to restrain anyone, at least in this game." Midnight's cold gaze as she licked her lips sent chills down Bulla's spine. I'm definitely going to revise my costume after this! She though as it occurred to her that her costume happen to be somewhat revealing. "As long as you don't leave the course, you're free to do whatever your heart desires!" She said as she held out her hand in a welcoming gesture. "Now then, take your places contestants!"
As everyone began to crowd around the red-framed exit, a green light shined from the three bulbs at the top. Bulla looked over to her best friend and smiled, raising a closed fist. "Don't fall behind too much!" The first of the three green lights dimmed, and the Saiyans' hearts began to race.
"Oh, it is on!" Pan responded with a chuckle as she tapped Bulla's fist, hearing the tone that indicated that the second of the three lights dimmed.
With the final light dimming, Midnight's voice echoed throughout the arena. "BEGIN!" As everyone began to make an attempt at squeezing through the exit, cold air began to surge through the arena, and as Bulla began to shiver, an eruption of ice filled the hall. As Bulla and Pan watched several students between the walls become immobilized, the two blasted off, soaring over the crowd. As they made it to the other side, Bulla blasted forward at max speed, however she was matched by Pan's true flight.
Taking note of her surrounding, she saw Bakugo and Todoroki ahead of her, with Pan at her side and Yaoyorozu, Kirishima, and Aoyama directly behind them. Bulla began to zero in on pursuit of first place, first closing the distance between her and Bakugo before an elegant kick slammed into her gut. Now in freefall, she stabilized herself before blasting off along the ground, ripping several chunks of ice from the sheet that Todoroki left behind. "Hey, what the hell!?" She yelled to her friend.
"And right off the bat, Son and Brief from Classes 1B and 1A are battling for second place - no, the place is Son's!" Present Mic announced. "It looks like one hit knocked Brief all the way to fourth place!"
"Don't fall behind too much!" Pan retorted as the aura around her expanded, and she blasted off.
Damn! Should I use Galaxy Chaser? "No, if I stop to build power, I'll fall too far behind!" Bulla said to herself as she blasted off, struggling to maintain her fourth place position. As she finally began to close the distance, Pan skid to a halt, floating midair as the first obstacle arose.
"Oh! Enemies have shown up out of nowhere!" Present Mic said excitedly, riling up the crowd. "I bet we're in for a treat here! A test of strength and cunning! It's a Robo Inferno!"
"What the hell are these?!" Pan said loudly. "There's a crap-ton of these things!" Pan began to fly overhead.
"Are those the zero-point villains from the practical test?!" Kaminari yelled as several students began to panic.
"What?! They fought these big robots during the entrance exams?!" Pan said to herself, looking down at the mob of enemies before a massive hand fell from above. Unfocused, and moving too quickly, Pan spun around and threw her arms up before the metal slammed into her, sending her hurling to the ground. In an eruption of dust and cobble, Pan fell to the ground before dropping her arms. "Man, that hurts!"
With Pan knocked down, Bulla took third place. "So this is what the other students faced in their entrance exams." Todoroki said to himself as he took a step forward. Blasting over the smaller enemies, Bulla prepared to blast right through, however, the air around her rapidly cooled, and she shivered uncontrollably. "They obviously went through a lot of trouble, but I wish they would have prepared something a little more difficult. Especally since my dear-old dad is watching."
As she prepared to blast through, the sound of ice crackling filled her ears. As she turned around, she blasted to the side, dodging the incoming wave of ice as it completely froze the colossus. "Hey! I was going to do that!" She yelled as she chased after him, leaving the tumbling Inferno behind.
"That's Todoroki from Class 1A pulling ahead to an early lead with a devastating display, with Brief right behind him! Both were let in on recommendation, making this race seem almost unfair!" Present Mic timed as Bulla rolled her eyes.
Doing her best to tune out the spirited, albeit annoying, commentary of Present Mic, she ran along the ground, consistently firing her blasts behind her in order to gain speed. I need to make sure I don't use too much Ki all at once, otherwise I could be out of this thing from the start! "What do you think you're doing, Copycat!?" Bakugo yelled at her from behind.
"Copycat?!" She yelled back as he closed in. She lifted her feet from the ground, and the two began an airborne race as Bakugo caught up.
"Damn, you're annoying!" He told her with a scowl as he blasted forward, determined to reach first.
"Hey! We're not done here!" Bulla yelled as she rose into the sky. In a swift motion, she cupped her hands together and blasted downward towards her opponent. "Reverse Chaser: Shooting Star!" With her battle cry, Bulla shot forward, dropping in front of Bakugo.
"Incredible! With a stunning display of combining propulsion and gravity, Brief catches up to Bakugo!" Upside-down, and facing away from him, she spun around and threw a fist downward, missing his face as he deflected the blow with his hand. As he throw a large blast forward, Bulla fired off one to the side to move out of the way before firing two more in opposite directions to straighten herself out. "And now the two are battling from third with their similar but powerful Quirks!"
With Bakugo's focus on attacking and defending against Bulla, they were unable to notice as Pan flew right past them, until Present Mic's commentary actually came in handy. "And with her frontrunners distracted, Son from Class 1-B takes her second place spot back!"
"Sorry, everyone! I don't really think the middle suits me!" Pan said to herself as Bakugo and Bulla blasted forward, attempting to take their former spot back.
"How is she so fast! Did she always have this speed?!" Bulla yelled as Bakugo looked her way in shock.
"If you thought the first obstacle was easy, let's see how you feel about this one!" Present Mic chimed in.
From second place, Pan smiled as she looked back, flying over the pits of the second obstacle. "Dammit! It makes sense, Pan's always been ahead, in one way or another!"
"Shut up!" Bakugo suddenly yelled. "You're so annoying! If you settle like that then you'll never surpass her!" Taking his own words to heart, Bakugo managed to descend to the ground, using the stronger blasts that he uses for airborne travel in order to pass Pan and catch Todoroki in first.
"Ugh! I don't get that guy! Why does he have to be so rude while saying something that's not supposed to sound rude!" Bulla said to herself as she grit her teeth. But he's right! Even if I'll never be as strong as Pan, I need to try! Getting fired up, Bulla's blasts began to power up, allowing her to close the gap between the two friends.
"Welcome back!" Pan told her as she waved with a smile.
"Did miss me?" Bulla asked as Pan looked down. Before long, they were at the third obstacle.
"And now we're finally approaching the last obstacle! Everyone had better tread carefully!" Present Mic announced. Several darkened spots were resting in the ground just below. "Youre stepping onto a minefield! If you look carefully, you can see where those little bombs are buried. so keep you eyes on the ground, folks. By the way, those mines were designed for the game, so they might be loud and flashy, but they're not all that powerful. Just enough to make you wet your pants!" As Todoroki and Bakugo did their best to avoid the mines buried beneath, Bulla and Pan took the tied first place together. "And Brief and Son take the lead together! Bakugo and Todoroki now cease their fighting to chase after those ahead of them!"
With the two of the now taking the lead, and Bakugo and Todoroki making their best attempts to reclaim the prize, a massive explosion erupted from behind. "What's with that massive explosion in the back?! That was way more powerful than it should be!" From the pink plume that rose into the sky, a figure flew out and downward. With Bulla and Pan, and Bakugo and Todoroki all focused on clearing the minefield, the boys just below, and just behind the girls, all jaws dropped when Izuku Midoriya's feet planted themselves firmly on the girls' backs.
"What the hell?!" Pan yelled.
"Midoriya?!" Bulla followed as he slammed a large metal plate onto the ground below.
"I'm sorry!" With his apology, he jumped off of their shoulders, knocking them downward into Bakugo and Todoroki, and allowing the four of them to become overwhelmed in the series of pink explosions.
"I can't believe what I'm seeing!" Present Mic announced in shock. "Izuku Midoriya from Class 1A blasts past his classmates in the Hero Course and jumps from the back into first place, and knocks the closing contenders into second through fifth in the process!" As Midoriya ran with all his might, Todoroki and Pan rushed outward from the plume, followed by Bulla and Bakugo. As the five students began to close in on the finish, the roaring of the crowd grew louder. "Who would have imagined at the beginning of this race that the climax would be a non-stop mega-mix of surprises?! The first to make it back to the stadium is the first-place winner...!" The home stretch. Regardless of their consistent lead, it was Midoriya who emerged in first place, with Todoroki and Pan in second and third, and Bulla and Bakugo in fourth and fifth. "Izuku Midoriya is our champion!"
"Dammit! AAAHH" Bakugo began to yell to himself as Bulla approached her victorious classmate.
"Midoriya! That was a dirty trick!" She scolded.
"Yeah, who do you think you are, doing that to us!?" Pan followed, pointing her finger outward.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it as anything personal." He told them as the sixth place and beyond began to file in.
"Deku! That was amazing!" Uraraka said as she approached the group. "I can't believe you got first place, I'm jealous!"
"Uh... It was nothing!" Midoriya said as he covered his face.
"Pft, 'it was nothing' my ass." Pan said coldly as Bulla laughed.
"Don't be like that, we'll just make sure we win in the next round." Bulla told her friend with a pat on the shoulder. The next round...Bulla thought to herself. What is it going to be? What kind of challenge are they going to throw at us? Despite not knowing what it was going to be, she knew that she had to win, no matter the cost.
"And how will you do that? Have you really started to lie to yourself, believing that you'd be worth anything?" Bulla's eyes widened as a voice spoke from the depths of her mind. She shook her head, allowing herself to focus on reality once again. What...was that...?
