Chapter 20
Lucius walking Ginny to work became the new routine. Each morning, he would meet her with a coffee and fill her in on any news events. There was always a kiss on the cheek to start the day, and anything more than a kiss was saved for when they were at her door at the end of a date. As expected, the news story of the twins blew up and there were reports on everything from the twins having been an attempt to force Lucius to leave his wife, to the claim that Draco was actually the father! One report even claimed that Ginny was a paid surrogate so that if the Ministry ever attempted to take control of the Malfoy fortune, the money would already legally belong to the twins and therefore couldn't be touched!
With each new story, when reporters asked for a comment, Ginny always replied, "Well, if you're printing it, it must be true. Thank you for telling me." This turned each report that was different from the last into the newspaper calling itself a liar. Her family followed suit with the same line Ginny had taken and it only took about a month for the story to die out.
One evening, Ginny and Lucius were at her door once again. "I have to go out of town for about a week," he informed her.
"I'll miss you. When are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow. I'll still walk you to the office in the morning."
"Thank you."
"When I return, I thought we could do some Christmas shopping for the twins together."
She smiled at him. "That sounds fun."
Lucius then took her into his arms, kissing her as if his life depended on it. He had tangled his hand in her hair, and when he felt her hand pushing his body harder against her, he knew she wanted more than kissing. He allowed himself to think how good it felt inside her body. He needed her more than anything in his whole life! He had waited longer for her than anyone before, but Lucius was a man of control. He broke away from her and braced his arms on her door frame. "Use every ward you can think of to keep me out because even after I walk away, I can't say I won't return tonight."
"What if I don't want you to leave?" she whimpered.
He almost took her right there! He wanted to; he needed to! "There's the twins to consider," he replied through clenched teeth.
She nodded, knowing he was right. "You're right, but I want you to know I want you as much as you want me."
"Go in now," he pleaded.
She did as she was told. As she shut the door without him there, she knew; she did love him.
"I love you," she admitted, not knowing if he was still there.
Even if Lucius heard Ginny, he needed her to not be able to live without him. He thought about going back to her place a thousand times that sleepless night.
"Good morning, my love," he greeted warmly the next morning.
"Good morning, dear," Ginny replied.
He leaned in to kiss her cheek like always and hand her her coffee. "I didn't sleep last night," he whispered.
"Trust me, you weren't the only one."
Today, unlike most days, he reached for her hand and placed it at the apex of his arm. "I will send an owl so you know how to reach me if something comes up."
"Okay."
"But if it's something extreme that can't wait even an hour, reach out to Draco."
"What could be that important?" she asked.
"Nothing I can think of, but I, - I just want you to know that anything you or the twins might ever need, it's easy to access."
"Are you a bit of a worrywart?" she teased.
"As far as my family is concerned, which includes you even if we aren't together, then yes I am."
"I'm going to miss this. Not having to make coffee has been a treat," she confessed before taking a sip.
"I'll be back next Wednesday. Could you take Thursday off?"
The next day, Ron sent word that Pansy was in labour. On Saturday morning, Ginny headed over to Ron and Pansy's. She brought a couple of complete meals ready to be popped in the oven. She was going to help Ron get the older children together so they could head over to the Burrow where her newest niece would meet all of the aunts and uncles. She knew Pansy would need a bit of support.
Little Arthur opened the door to Ginny. "Hi Auntie Ginny!"
"Hey buddy! Help me put this in the kitchen for your Mum and Dad." she greeted, handing him a basket of food.
"Of course," Arthur replied happily.
"Where's you dad?"
"He needed to run to the shop for Mum."
"Oh. Where's your mum?" Ginny asked.
"In her room."
"Do you think it would be okay if I popped in to see her and your little sister?"
"Sure, everyone else does."
"Is that what you're wearing to the Burrow?" Ginny asked, surveying her nephew's casual attire.
"No. Mum says I have to look nice." he said in a bothered tone.
"Then do me a favor and go get changed please."
"You really are a mum. Why can't a wizard just be comfortable?" he muttered to himself and slowly headed to his room.
Ginny knocked on Pansy's bedroom door. "Come on in," came a tired voice from inside.
Ginny opened the door to find Pansy resting and Draco standing next to the bed. Ginny hadn't seen or spoken to him since she and Lucius saw the twins at the school.
"Ginny!" Pansy said, slightly excited.
Draco handed the baby back to Pansy. "I have to be going," he said to Pansy. As he passed, he avoided eye contact with Ginny and barely muttered a greeting of "Ginny" before nearly flying out of the place.
With there being nearly six weeks of time passing without a word between them, she expected a little more out of Draco. The fact that he refused to even be social now kind of hurt.
"Let me see that little dear," Ginny said, reaching for the new baby.
"You two still haven't spoken?" Pansy asked, sounding shocked.
"Nope," Ginny replied, looking down in awe at the baby. "Hi there, luv! I'm your Auntie Ginny! And you are very special to me because you're the first niece I get to know from birth!"
"Ginny?"
"Pans, what's up with Malfoy? He seemed fouler than normal," Ron asked, coming down the hall with his jacket still on.
"Ron, do you mind giving me and Ginny a few minutes?"
"Oh! Hi Ginny!" He grinned at his sister.
"I told Arthur to get changed," Ginny informed Ron.
"Close the door! I don't need Ron in a mood, if possible," Pansy ordered. "Now, you and Draco?"
"Nothing to tell. Clearly it was just him wanting a release."
"Bollocks!" Pansy countered.
"If even my friendship meant anything to him, he would have said something by now," Ginny stressed.
"Oh yeah, you're right because you've reached out to him so many times," the brunette pointed out sarcastically.
"Pansy, I'm not going to beg for any man's attention," she explained.
"What if he has seen the photos of you and Lucius and he's thinking you've made your choice?"
"I thought he was my best friend! He hasn't even checked on me once! I clearly read everything wrong," Ginny said.
Pasny wasn't as sure as Ginny. She knew she needed a chat with Draco, but it would have to be at a time when Ron and her children who could talk were out of the house and when Draco wasn't teaching a class.
"I almost slept with Lucius," Ginny admitted in hopes of getting Pansy to drop the topic of Draco.
"Oh? What happened?" Pansy wasn't sure who Ginny belonged with, but she was sure it was one of the Malfoy men. She just wanted Ginny to be happy, and she also felt that Ginny needed a sexual partner. Pansy couldn't imagine going 12 years without one!
"It's been building for a while. After our last date, I needed him so bad."
"Why didn't you?"
"He wouldn't. He told me to use every ward and charm to ensure he didn't enter my place or return later!" Ginny stated.
A large smile grew on Pansy's face. "Ginny, he's respecting you… to the point of being an idiot! He clearly needs something from you."
"Like what?" Ginny asked.
"I'm not sure. We are going to my mum's tomorrow. I'll see if she knows anything and will share," Pansy said.
The next morning, Ginny received a huge arrangement of red and white roses. The note, not a card, that was with them read:
I just woke up from a dream where you and I were waking up together. We were spooning and I was hard against you. As easy as it would have been to take you that way, I needed to see your face when I made love to you.
I wanted to let you know that even in my dreams, you are all I think about. When the time is perfect, we shall enjoy every second of making love… there will be time enough for me to ravish you later.
Lucius.
Ginny smiled. "You always leave me wanting more!" He could have at least gone into further detail so she could get a release from his dream as she was sure he had.
A/N I have been working on Wife as I promised and I made huge progress but a plot bunny ran in and is chewing my leg off for a new story. its has some heavy themes and I'm looking to chat with someone about it, just things like what to say in the summary, let me know if you would be willing to offer an opinion.
