Sleep Aid

Sirius aimed his wand at the cuckoo clock and before it finished it's incessant noise, blew it to bits on the wall. He'd never wanted it, in fact he remembered protesting it quite ardently, but Molly had insisted it brightened up the place.

Like Grimmauld Place would ever be 'bright'.

"Was it really annoying you that much?"

Sirius turned to see Kingsley lingering in the doorway, a teasing smile on his lips. Sirius grinned at him, his mood lifting immediately at the sight of the other man.

"What are you still doing here? I thought Dumbledore sent you out on a mission?"

Kingsley rolled his eyes. "As if I was going to leave without saying goodbye."

He entered the room and sat down beside Sirius, tugging him closer until Sirius was splayed across Kingsley's chest.

"I don't want you to go," Sirius admitted quietly. "Everything's better when you're here. It sucks when you're not."

"But if I was always here, you'd never be able to miss me," Kingsley teased. "You'd get bored of me in a week."

"No," Sirius said, sitting up slightly so he could meet Kingsley's eyes. "I don't think I would."

Kingsley's eyes were bright with unchecked emotion, and Sirius knew it was because from him, those words had practically been a love confession.

"I have to go in a minute," Kingsley said, regretfully. "I'll come back as soon as I can, okay?"

Sirius nodded, sighing. "Be careful. Don't die."

Kingsley snorted. "The fact that those words even needs to be said makes me sad for the world. I'll be careful. You keep your chin up, okay? I want to come home to that pretty smile of yours."

Sirius nodded again, and leant forward for a kiss, lingering just a breath away until Kingsley closed the gap between their lips.

"I love you," Kingsley said, as he pulled back. "So much."

"I know," Sirius replied. "I know."

He never said it back. It was a… thing. But Kingsley never seemed to mind, because he heard the words even when Sirius didn't say them.

As Kingsley stood and stepped away from the couch, he cast a spell on a pillow and tossed it to Sirius.

"To help you sleep."

Sirius frowned, but picked the pillow up and held it tight. Kingsley was out of the room when Sirius realise that the pillow smelled like his boyfriend.

He smiled.

Kingsley really was perfect.
