Lexie was discharged the following morning, less than twenty-four hours after Michael was born. Her entire body ached, and she was exhausted, but she couldn't stop smiling.

Meredith and Derek had stopped by a couple of hours after Michael was born, wanting to see their newborn nephew. Meredith had been holding Michael when Lexie told them that they were his godparents, and she had passed Michael to Derek to hold before crushing her little sister into the biggest hug she had ever given her.

Even though Meredith and Derek were Michael's official godparents, Lexie had also named April an honorary godmother, since Meredith and Derek weren't super religious. April was the closest thing that Lexie had to a best friend, despite the fact that they hadn't gotten along when they first met, and April had been super supportive throughout her entire pregnancy.

When they had finally been alone again, Mark had resumed his place at Lexie's side, snuggling her and Michael as they both drifted off.

Once Lexie was asleep, he had gently lifted Michael from her arms and placed him in the bassinet next to her, before crawling back in the bed beside her and wrapping her in his arms. He had known that this may be his last opportunity to sleep with her in his arms for a while, and he wasn't going to waste it.

When she had arrived home from the hospital, the first thing Lexie did after settling Michael in her room was take a long, hot shower. Her entire body ached, having gone through childbirth less than a day earlier, but the warm water was somewhat soothing.

Lexie cringed when she saw herself in the mirror while stepping out of the shower. The weight gain hadn't bothered her very much while she was pregnant, but now she just felt fat and gross. Her skin was covered in stretch marks as well, making her want to cry.

She was glad that Mark wasn't going to be seeing her naked, because she was terrified that he would be disgusted if he did. She was no longer the slim, sexy, 20 something girlfriend that Mark was accustomed to her being.

Her body had been forever changed by pregnancy, and she wasn't quite sure yet how she felt about that. As a doctor, she knew that issues with body image postpartum were common, but knowing and experiencing were two different things.

Lexie realized fairly quickly that she despised the nursing bras she had purchased. They were uncomfortable, almost painful, and she decided that it was simply easier not to wear one at all while she was at home.

With Michael asleep upstairs in Lexie's room, Mark had crashed on the couch while waiting for Lexie to finish showering. He nearly had a heart attack when she came downstairs. How she could look that beautiful in just a T-shirt and sweatpants mere hours after having a baby was beyond him, but he sure as hell wasn't going to complain.

Lexie stopped at the bottom of the staircase and faced him. "Hey."

"Hey. Did you want something to eat before Michael wakes up?" He asked, knowing that she hadn't eaten in over twenty four hours.

"Honestly? I'm starving."

Mark grinned. "Let me guess, you want bacon and cinnamon toast with a glass of orange juice."

Lexie couldn't help but to smile. Mark knew her so well. "Yup. And if you bring it upstairs, I just might be willing to upgrade your sleeping arrangements from the floor."
