Riley stood back and admired her best friend. Always beautiful, Maya looked even more so today. "She's….glowing." Riley thought to herself. "I've always heard that bride's glow. Aunt Katy sure did. Like mother, like daughter, I guess." Riley watches as the final touches are applied to Maya so she'll look perfect. That was Katy's job, and Topanga's. The two older ladies were attending to Maya as they had been all week getting her ready for her wedding. Maya had asked her mom if it was okay if Topanga attended to her preparations in addition to her. "She's done so much for me mom. It just seems right that she should be here too," Maya had said. Katy had given Maya a big smile when she asked her about Topanga. "I was just about to ask you if you'd like her to help with your preparations." Katy said to her. "She was so good for you when I was confused about how to be your mom."

Katy and Topanga were being helped through the whole process by Maya's three bride's maids, Isadora Smackle, Sara Carpenter, and Molly Reid. Maya, Isadora, and Sara had become friends in high school and had remained so. And Maya and Molly remained as close as ever. They were all thrilled when Maya asked them to be in her wedding.

Of course Riley had helped too. But her main job, as Maid of Honor, was to make sure things went smoothly and on time to take some stress off Maya. She was proud of the job she had done and so was everyone involved, especially Maya. And as she looked to everyone admiring Maya, she thought it was time to get things moving along. "Okay ladies, it's time to move on. You've all done a great job in getting Maya ready, she looks perfect, but we have a whole room full of people waiting to see her, including her future husband."

"She's right Katy." Topanga says. "You're done a great job. We should go on to the sanctuary.

"Yes, I guess you're right." Katy replies. With a tear in her eye, she says to Maya: "You look beautiful Baby Girl. I'm so happy for you. Maya replies: "Thanks mom."

As Katy and Topanga start to leave, Riley says to them. "Tell the guys to weight until I come out. I want to talk to Dad and Uncle Josh." They tell her they will.

Isadora, Sara, and Molly all hug Maya and tell her they'll see her at the altar. Then Sara says to Riley: "We'll leave you and Maya, so you can have a moment alone," knowing that's what they each want. "We'll be right outside with the guys." Riley and Maya both thank them at the same time and they leave the room. Riley goes to Maya and takes her hands in hers. "You look so beautiful Maya. And it's not just the dress and the makeup. You actually make the dress look beautiful. You're lighting up this room and you'll light up the sanctuary."

"Thank you Riley. I'm just so happy right now. And it's all because of you."

"Oh Maya, it wasn't just me, your mom, my mom, Isadora, Molly, and Sara did most of the work."

"That's not what I mean Riley," Maya begins. "This life I have now, this family I have now, this man I'm about to marry; none of this would have happened if it weren't for you. If you had pushed me out of your room all those years ago, well….I don't know where I'd be, but I know I wouldn't be as happy as I am now."

"Thank you, Maya. But you've had a huge impact on my life as well. You taught me to be strong; to stand up for myself. So let's call it even, okay?"

"Okay," Maya says with a smile, then: "I love you Riles." Riley responds with: "I love you too Peaches." The two forever friends embrace for the next few moments. Each thinking how lucky they are to have the other in their life. As they release their hug, Maya has teared up and her makeup is about to run. Riley notices this, pulls out a tissue and dabs under Maya's eyes to prevent that from happening and says: "Maya Penelope, don't start crying now. I want Uncle Josh to see you like this before your makeup streaks."

Maya laughs and says: "Yes miss Riley. I cut the waterworks off for now."

Riley smiles at her, then sighs and says: "Okay, I need to talk to dad and Uncle Josh for a minute and then I'll bring you out so Uncle Shawn can see you. He's gonna be blown away like everyone else will be." She gives Maya one last smile and says: "See you down there." And goes out the door.

Outside the room. Shawn, Josh, Cory, Eric, and Andrew are waiting on her. "What's up Riley," Josh says. "Topanga said you needed to talk to us. Shouldn't we be getting down to the altar?"

"Yes you should," she answers, "but I need to talk to dad first." She turns to her dad and tells him: "Dad, I need for you to keep an eye on Uncle Josh when Maya is coming down the aisle."

"Okay, but why?" Cory asks.

"Well," Riley begins, "she's never looked more beautiful dad; she's going to light up the whole room. She's glowing right now because she knows she's marring the right guy and she's never been happier. So if Uncle Josh gets lightheaded, I want you to make sure he stays upright.

"Hey," Josh says in protest, "I'm not going to faint or even feel light headed Riley. I'm good."

"I know you'll be fine Uncle Josh. I'm just taking precautions. It's my job to make sure everything rums smoothly. Bye the way," Riley says, changing the subject, "thank you for marring my best friend Uncle Josh. You've made her the happiest woman in the world." She gives him a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Wow," Cory says, "she really looks THAT beautiful?" Cory's face gets a little flush now and he swallows hard. Eric does the same.

Riley sees this and groans. "Oh God,…Andrew?..." She says as she turns to him.

Knowing what she's about to ask him, Andrew smiles and says: "Don't worry Riley, I'll keep an eye on all three of 'em. Wouldn't want one of them to faint and bust their head and bleed on Maya's wedding."

"Hey," Cory, Eric, and Josh say at the same time.

"Just taking precautions," Andrew says with a smile. The three men laugh at the exchange and relax."

"Okay, you three need to head down to the alter," Riley says to the guys. "Isadora, Sara, Molly, and I will be down there shortly." The four men leave.

Now Riley turns to Shawn who has been patiently waiting. "Are you ready to see your daughter Uncle Shawn?" She asks.

"Ready as I'll ever be," he replies. "Does she really look that beautiful," Shawn asks nervously.

"She really does," Riley answers, "but you can judge for yourself." Riley opens the door to the room Maya's been waiting in and says. "Time to go Maya. Your dad's waiting for you."

As she exits the room, the girls step in behind her to straighten the tail of her dress. "What do you think dad?" She asks.

Shawn is almost speechless. Riley was right. She's glowing and lighting up the room. He's never seen her look more beautiful or happier. Wow! Look at you." He finally says. "You look incredible Maya." She goes to Shawn and hugs him tight, enjoying the special daddy/daughter moment.

Riley says: "We'll leave now and give you two a moment alone. Uncle Shawn, when you're ready, just nod at me and I'll signal the organist to play the Wedding March. And try not to cry Maya; makeup, remember?" She flashes her best friend a smile, then says: "Come on ladies, let's head down front."

As the four women leave, Maya looks at her dad and asks: "Do I really look that beautiful dad?" Even though Maya is a mature, strong, independent woman now, she still seeks the approval of her dad. A man she will always love and respect.

Shawn thinks for a moment before her answers her. "Maya," he begins, "my job has given me the opportunity to travel all over this country and to a few other countries as well. I've seen many beautiful places and things, but I've never seen anything as beautiful as you, right at this moment. I'll never forget it."

Maya throws herself into his arms again and begins to cry. "Oh daddy," she sobs. She calls Shawn daddy instead of dad at times when she's feeling particularly close to him, like now. "I love you," she continues, "I love you so much. I never thought this would happen to me. I never knew if I'd ever get married and even if I did, I never thought I'd have a dad to walk me down the aisle."

Shawn in crying now as well. Then he remembers what Riley said about makeup, looks at Maya and says: Oh no, Maya! Your makeup. He pulls out a handkerchief and gently dabs under Maya's eyes. "There," he says. "If your makeup streaks now, Riley will kill us both." They both share a good laugh at that.

As Shawn looks at his beautiful daughter, he thinks about how proud he is of her and how much he loves her. "I know you're not my little girl anymore," he begins, "and it's time for you to venture out on your own, but it's still gonna be really hard to give you away."

Maya looks up at him and smiles. "Dad," she begins, "if you don't remember anything else about today, remember this: I'll always be your little girl."

Tears stream down Shawn's cheeks. "That's the sweetest thing you could have ever said to me," he says.

Maya reaches up and brushes the tears from his cheeks. "Come on dad," she says. "If you start crying, then I'll start crying, then we'll both be in trouble with Riley." One again they share a laugh.

After they both compose themselves, Shawn asks: "Are you ready? There's a lot of people waiting on us out there. And some aren't very patient."

Maya smiles broadly at him and says: "I've been waiting for this since I was seven. Yeah, I'm ready."

With that, Shawn smiles at her, kisses her on the cheek, and nods at Riley. Riley smiles and motions to the organist, who starts the Wedding March. Everyone stands as the music begins and looks to the rear of the sanctuary. Then Mays enters on her father's arm. And just as Riley said it would, the whole room lights up with Maya's radiance. An audible low rumble of voices begins along with several gasps. Everyone is blown away with Maya. As she walks with Shawn down the aisle, cell phones come out and start taking pictures and videos of her. She scans the crowd to see who's there. She sees many of her old classmates and teachers from high school and a few from college, including Jazmine and Charlotte, who she has remained friends with. Some of her art school colleagues are there too, as is Charlie and he and Molly's first born. She greets them all with a big smile. Then she sees Farkle, Lucas, and Zay, all sitting together. Farkle has three cameras going at once (some things never change) recording everything. As she passes them, they all have something to say.

Farkle says: "Wow! Maya…" and then nothing else as he's speechless. She blows him a kiss.

Zay says: "The blond beauty is REALLY a beauty today." Maya blushes and blows him a kiss as well.

Lucas, taps his chest at his heart and says: "I'm so happy for you Maya." Her eyes well up again and she says: "Thank you Lucas. I'm happy you're here." Many thought their friendship would suffer after the 'triangle' was resolved. But the opposite happened. They became better friends. And of all her friends, only Riley was happier for Maya than Lucas.

"As they approached the altar where Josh was waiting, Riley checks out Maya's face to see if her makeup had run. It hadn't. Riley gives Shawn a 'thumbs-up, which causes both him and Maya to chuckle. When they get to the alter, Josh is mesmerized by how his bride looks. "Riley wasn't exaggerating," he thinks to himself. "I've never seen her more beautiful."

Josh and Maya can't take their eyes off each other. Both hope this isn't a dream they'll wake up from. Mr. Feeny, beginning the formal part of the traditional wedding asks: "Who gives this woman in marriage?"

"Her mother and I," Shawn answers. Then he takes Maya's hand and places it in Josh's hand. He looks at Josh and says: "You're the only person I could give my little girl away to. Take care of her."

"I will Shawn. I promise." Josh answers.

Then her turns to Maya, but before her can say anything to her, she says: "Don't worry dad. I know you love Josh as much as I do. I'll take care of him too."

"Thank you Maya." Then he kisses her in the cheek and goes to join Katy for the remainder of the ceremony.

As Josh and Maya stand, holding hands and facing one another, Josh says: "Maya you look absolutely….." He hesitates a second, thinking.

"Gorgeous?" She finishes for him, using her favorite description he uses when referring to her.

"Yes," he answers, "gorgeous."

As the two continue to look at each other, seemingly oblivious to everything, Mr. Feeny finally asks, with a knowing smile: "Are you two ready to start?"

"Yes sir," they both answer in unison.

Mr. Feeny looks out over the audience and says: "We are gathered together today to witness the joining of two souls: Joshua Gabriel Matthews and Maya Penelope Hunter. I believe they have something they would like to say to each other, to begin."

Maya turns to Riley, who hands her an index card. She refers to is as she says: "Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted what Riley had, a mother and father who were there for her and would never leave her. I wanted it so bad that I almost became her. I wanted a family. Well now I have one. And I don't need to be Riley anymore. But now, ironically, I'm about to become part of the Matthews family, and I couldn't be happier. I love my family name of Hunter, and Matthews is the only name I'd trade for it." Some sniffles were heard throughout the crowd at Maya's words.

"Well said Maya," Mr. Feeny tells her. "Joshua?"

Josh pulls a piece of folded paper from his coat and begins: "I once told you Maya, that I had learned to observe people; to find out what's going on with them. And one of the first things I noticed was how happy my father and my brother Cory were being married. I realized that the reason they were that happy was because of the two extraordinary women they were married to, my mother Amy, and my sister-in-law Topanga. They were strong and independent, yet loving and kind."

"So I searched for someone like them, starting in high school and continuing through college. And I met some very good women along the way, but none had that 'spark' I was hoping for. And I was about to give up; to just settle. But then the most amazing thing happened. Thanks to two good college friends (he looks at Jazmine and Charlotte) and a wise long-time family friend (he looks at Mr. Feeny), I finally opened my eyes. And I realized that that special girl, that girl as wonderful as Topanga that Cory hoped I would meet, that girl had been standing in front of me and sitting beside me all along. That girl Maya, was you."

By this time there's not a dry eye in the room. And some, like Katy and Riley, are openly weeping. But Josh continued: "So I pledge to you in front of all these people who are our family and friends, that I'll spend each day of the rest of my life, trying to make you happy. Because you've already given me a lifetime of happiness." With that, Josh folds the paper and returns it to his pocket.

"Oh My God, Mr. Feeny!" Maya exclaims, "Hurry and marry us. I just have to kiss this man!" That little outburst causes most of the crowd to laugh.

"Very well done Joshua," Mr. Feeny says. "But you have put me in a quite a predicament."

Josh looks at Mr. Fenny with confusion as to what he means. Mr. Feeny continues: "You see Joshua, when I decided to become a Justice-of-the-Peace so I could perform marriage ceremonies, I was given a 'marriage book,' so to speak. And in that book, amongst other things, were many wonderful quotes about the sanctity of marriage, commitment, encouragement, and love, to pass on to new couples. And I was rather proud of myself. I had picked out several excellent quotes that I thought fit this ceremony very well. But they are pale and uninspiring compared to your little speech."

A spattering of laughter is heard from the audience. Mr. Feeny pauses for a few short moments to collect his thoughts, then he speaks to the audience: "It has been my privilege to watch these two wonderful young people grow up, and see their relationship grow from its beginning. I noticed immediately there was something different when they were together. When he was young, Joshua would have very little to do with Riley's friends, except for Maya. He would always have time to talk with her. And Maya, who was rather rambunctious when she was younger, (laughter from the crowd is heard again), would always sit quietly when she was with Joshua and talk to him."

"When I asked Joshua about this, he would just shrug his shoulders and say he wasn't really sure; it just seemed like the right thing to do. When I asked Maya, she said something quite remarkable. She said he didn't feel sorry for her like so many older people did, and that made her feel normal. I began to realize how much Joshua had come to like her. At the age of twelve, he said that Maya had the most beautiful, yet saddest, blue eyes he'd ever seen. I suspect they had already fallen in love; even though they didn't know what love was then. But I hoped they would learn."

"I got to see their relationship continue to grow through their adolescent years, into their teen years, and beyond. And even though at times they wouldn't see each other for years, when they did reconnect, is was if they had never been apart."

"When he was in college, I again had a chance to talk to Joshua about Maya. To my delight, he told me that he indeed liked her, but their age difference was a problem. Three-years age difference was too much."

"Many may have thought he didn't want to be seen with a girl younger than him. That it was beneath him. But I found out that wasn't true. At the time, Maya had just started high school. To him it seemed unsavory for a college student to be with a high school freshman. He thought it would be bad for her image as well as his. I saw he cared deeply for Maya, and was just looking out for her, like he always had. When I pointed out to him, that in just a few short years, Maya would no longer be a little girl, or a young teenager, buy rather a grown woman, and he would see her differently then. He said he hadn't considered that; but would."

"Now many here may we wondering why I took such an interest in these two. Well, I saw a great potential in them. I knew another couple who met when they were children and are two of the finest and happiest people I know. I wished the same for Joshua and Maya. And as they got older, I saw what so many of us saw: two people who belonged together. Many hopes and prayers were answered when they announced their engagement. And today, well today is a good day; a very good day."

"Thank you Mr. Feeny," Maya said as a tear trickled down her cheek. "That was beautiful." All of a sudden, Riley stepped in with a tissue, dried Maya's face, and wiped away her streaked makeup. Everyone laughed as she stepped back when she was finished.

After the crowd had settled down, Mr. Feeny spoke softly to Maya and Josh: "Are you ready to continue?" He asked.

"Yes sir." They both answered.

Mr. Feeny looks at Maya and says: "Maya Penelope, do you take Joshua Gabriel to be your lawfully weeded husband; to honor, cherish, and love; in sickness and in health; for richer or poorer, in good times and bad; until death do you part?"

"I do." She answered softly.

"And do you, Joshua Gabriel, take Maya Penelope to be your lawfully weeded wife; to honor, cherish, and love; in sickness and in health; for richer or poorer, in good times and bad; until death do you part?"

"I do." Answered Josh.

"The rings please." Mr. Feeny requested. Standing beside Riley, waiting patiently, was Mandy, Maya's little sister. She held a velvet pillow in her hands, on which laid two golden rings. Mandy was as high-spirited as Maya was at her age, so being still for that long was a major accomplishment for her. But she did it because she knew it was important to Maya and she loved her big sister.

She walked up and stood between Maya and Josh and announced: "Here ya go Mr. Feeny." That brought laughter from the crowd. Maya looked at Mandy as saw that she was wondering if she'd done something wrong. She erased her worry by saying: "you did great Mandy. We couldn't have had a wedding without you in it."

Relieved, Mandy says: "Thank you sissy."

Mr. Feeny then continues with the ceremony. "Maya, take Joshua's ring, place in on the ring finger of his left hand, and repeat after me: With this ring, I thee wed." Maya does as Mr. Feeny instructed and says: "With this ring, I thee wed."

He then continues with Josh. "Joshua, take Maya's ring, place in on the ring finger of her left hand, and repeat after me: With this ring, I thee wed." Josh does as Mr. Feeny instructed and says: "With this ring, I thee wed."

Now Mr. Feeny looks at them both and proclaims: "By the power vested in me from the state of New York, I now pronounce you husband and wife." He looks at Maya and says: "Now Maya, you may kiss your husband." Which she does to the applause and laughter of everyone in the room. After they end their kiss, Mr. Feeny asks them to turn and face the crowd. When they do, he announces: "Ladies and gentleman, I present to you: Joshua and Maya Matthews."

"YAAAAAA!" comes a cry form beside Maya. And everyone knows who it is: Riley. Unable, once again, to contain her happiness for her best friend, she shouted at the top of her lungs. The room goes silent as everyone turns to look at her. She has both arms raised above her head and a mortified look on her face. The first person she thinks of is her mother. When she had done this before, at Maya's adoption hearing, Riley had incurred her mother's wrath. So she looked at Topanga, expecting to see the same. But this time she just saw her mother smile, shake her head, and then facepalm. But then she remembers Maya, looks at her and says: "Maya, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to mess up your wedding."

But Maya looks at her and says: It's okay Riles." The she gets a mischievous look on her face and says: "In fact, it's perfect." Then she throws her hands in the air like Riley did and screams: "YAAAAAA!" She grabs Josh's hand then and says: "Come on Boing, let's get this party started!" With that, she and Josh head back up the aisle to the laughter and applause of the crowd.

Mr. Feeny then announces: "There are refreshments and a band for our entertainment in the recreation hall, and everyone is invited to come as we celebrated this marriage." Everyone begins to file out of the sanctuary and head to the recreation hall.

After all the wedding pictures were taken, mostly by Shawn of course, Maya and Josh are in the reception area feeding each other wedding cake as is tradition. After that, all of Maya and Josh's friends came by to congratulate them on their wedding. As part of the old tradition, all of Maya and Josh's friends take their turn kissing the new bride. Zae and Andrew both take their turns giving Maya a little peck on the lips. Then Cory and Eric give Maya a little peck on the cheek. Finally Lucas walks up to Maya, looks at and gets a nod of approval from Riley, and kisses Maya on her lips. Both enjoy it but not as much as kissing their significant others.

Josh looks at Maya during all this and observes: "I think you're enjoying this tradition a little too much, Maya." She sees the little smile on his face as he says this, knowing that he's teasing her a little, but very little, and says: "I've never had this many boys wanting to kiss at the same time Josh. So yeah, I am enjoying it." She smiles her biggest smile at him now and he can't help but return it and says: "Stop it." Maya then says: "I've got one more kiss to give away and then I'll have a thousand waiting for you my love." Josh can't help but think how lucky he is to have this amazing woman in his life. She went for a teasing little minx to a hopeless romantic is less that a second. She never ceases to amaze him.

Farkle walks up to Maya then. She's been waiting for him. She tells him: "Well Farkle, you've always wanted to kiss me. So now's your chance. With your permission that is Isadora." She's standing next to Farkle. "You have my permission to kiss Maya this one time my love." Isadora says in a tone that let's them both know she really is okay with it. Maya waits for Farkle to kiss her, expecting a little peck on her lips like the others, but Farkle has other ideas. Instead, he takes Maya in his arms, dips her deeply, and kisses her long and passionately. Everyone in the room sees this and the room goes silent. When he finally releases her and stands her back up, Maya seem a little dizzy and wobbly. "Wow!" That was some kiss Farkle." She finally says. "Been wanting to do that since middle school Maya." He returns. "I figured I'd never get another chance."

After getting her breath back, Maya looks at Isadora and says: "I had no idea he was going to do that. And you okay with it Isadora?"

"Oh yes, I'm fine with it." She answers. "He kisses me like that all the time." Farkle turns a little red now. "Well no wonder you're so good at kissing." Maya says with a grin, finally getting her composure back. Then she looks and Josh and says: "You need to take kissing lessons from him Boing." Josh looks at Farkle with a look of exasperation, and says: "Thanks a lot Farkle. Showing me up with my wife on our wedding day." Farkle freezes with fear now. "Did I go too far?" He asks himself. Finally Josh busts out with laughter and Maya joins him in laughing. "That was awesome Farkle." Josh finally says. High five." The two men slap hands and laugh together. Farkle breaths easier now.

Now Cory steps to the microphone as the band ends their song. "Could I have everyone's attention." He begins. "As you all know, Maya wanted an old-fashioned, traditional wedding. She wanted her father to walk her down the aisle. And for her mother and father to give her away. Both of those have happened and I have seen how happy that made her. Well, now it's time for another tradition of an old-fashioned wedding. It's time for the newly married couple to share their first dance together." Cory turns to Josh and says: "Josh."

Josh turns Maya and asks: "Maya, may I have this dance?"

Maya looks at Josh smiling and answers: "Yes, husband of mine, I would love to dance with you."

Josh takes Maya's hand in his and leads her out onto the dance floor as the band begins to play a slow song. He puts his arm around her waist as she put her hand on his shoulder and they begin their dance. As they dance together for the first time as husband and wife, they look into each other's eyes and hold them there through the entire dance. "I've never seen you look more beautiful Maya." He says to her as they dance together. "Thank you Josh," She returns. "And I've never seen you more handsome. I think marriage suites you." They both grin at her last statement. "I think it does too." He replies. "And I could say the same about you." Maya smiles as she agrees with him, but then gets a thoughtful look on her face. Josh notices, and asks: "What are you thinking about right now?" She smiles now and answers: "I have a question for you if that's okay." "Of course it is" he tells her.

"Well," she begins. "Mom and I were talking yesterday as she was helping me get ready. And we began talking about marriage. We talked about it a lot actually. And she told me at one point that as her wedding hour with dad approached, she began to have doubts. Not doubts about if she was marring the right man. She knew dad was a good man and that she loved him. But rather, because of her previous marriage, she had doubts that she could be a good wife to him."

"What did she do?" Josh asked.

Maya: "She took the direct approach. She asked him right before their wedding if he thought she could be a good wife. He told her that he'd bet his life on it."

Josh: "That's a wonderful story Maya. But what was the question you wanted to ask?"

Maya: "After she told me that story, it got me to thinking. And I know this is like shutting the gate after the cows have gotten out but, do you think I'll be a good wife? I do have a reputation of being a little wild."

Josh couldn't help but smile at his new bride. But he wanted to alleviate her fears. "Cory and Shawn talked with me about marriage as well. Shawn had his own doubts about being a good husband. He asked Cory and Topanga if they thought he'd make a good husband. Topanga told him that 'only someone who cares enough to ask knows for sure.' So, because you asked sweetheart, you'll be a good wife. I have no doubt of that. And I never have. And as far as your reputation of being a little wild, that's one of the things I love about you. Life's a big adventure with you in it. And I wouldn't miss it for anything."

Maya's eyes welled up with tears as she thought: "Whenever I've had doubts about myself, Josh has always picked me up and made me feel better." She tells her new husband: "Thank you Josh. I love you very much."

Josh stares at her intently now, actually making Maya a little uneasy, not knowing what he's thinking. "What?" She finally asks. Josh continues to look at her intently for a few seconds, then asks: "Do you remember when we were at the ski lodge?" Maya nods her head. "I told you then that you have the greatest capacity for love that I've ever seen. And when that love is directed toward me, like it is right now, well, it's almost overwhelming."

Maya doesn't know what to think of this, but finally asks: "Is that a good thing?"

"Yes Maya, it's a very good thing. And while my face may not show it as intently as yours, I love you just as much, and I always will." Maya continues to look at her husband and says to herself: "I love this man more than he realizes. He makes me want to be a better person, even more so than Riley or dad."

As the two continued to dance, Cory announces to the rest of the crowd: "Anyone who would like to join the newlyweds on the dance floor, my do so now." Several couples join Maya and Josh, including Alan and Amy, Shawn and Katy, Lucas and Riley, Charlie and Molly, and Farkle and Isadora.

Cory walks up to Topanga and asks her if she would like to dance with him. She's surprised and says: "Really, you never want to dance." He answers her by saying: "This is a real special day and I'm in a dancing mood. And I promise I'll do my best NOT to step on your toes." Topanga is impressed, smiles, and says: "You love me." He smiles back and tells her: "I do love you. And I love your toes too and don't want to hurt them." Topanga bursts out laughing as she lets Cory lead her onto the dance floor.

As Shawn and Katy are dancing, Katy can't take her eyes off her daughter and the young man she has just married. Shawn notices this and asks: "A penny for your thoughts?" She turns back to him and says: "I'm just so happy for our daughter. I was so afraid Maya would end up in a bad marriage like I had and get left again. But Josh has taken away my biggest fear and I will love him forever for that." Now she holds Shawn's attention by looking into his eyes. "And because of what you have done for Maya, by always being there for her and then adopting her, I will love you forever too." Then she kisses Shawn and hugs him tight.

Several minutes later, after Josh and Maya's dance, Cory again steps to the microphone and announces: It's time for one last old-fashioned, wedding tradition: the bride and father of the bride dance. Shawn."

Shawn walks up to Maya, who is smiling broadly and asks: "Maya, may I have this dance?" She answers: "I've been waiting for this all day; yes dad, I'd love to dance with you."

As the two reach the dance floor begin to dance, Shawn says: "You know, I don't think we've danced together since your high school prom." As Maya remembers that evening, she smiles and can't take her eyes off Shawn. Finally she says: "I think you're right. We should do this more often."

Shawn returns her smile and says: "Yes we should. That is, if your husband will let me dance with you sometimes." Maya looks over at Josh then, who is enjoying watching the two, then turns back to her dad and says: "Well, he may not like me dancing with other men, but I think he'll make an exception for you." Shawn smiles down at this daughter. And after a few short moments says: "You have turned out to be such a wonderful young woman Maya. You're a great daughter that any parent would be happy to call their own, a loving and thoughtful big sister, the best friend anyone could ever have, and you'll be a great wife to a young man that I've loved all his life. He deserves to have someone in his life like you."

"Ohhh..thank you dad. I love you." Maya says as tears begin streaming down her face, streaking her cheeks with makeup. "Oh shoot," Shawn exclaims, "your makeup is streaking." Maya just laughs and say: "Aw screw it! I made it to Josh like Riley wanted to. And a girl is supposed to cry at her wedding isn't she?"

"Yeah she is." Shawn answers softly. "And I've never seen you look more beautiful, even with streaky makeup." This gets Maya to laugh out loud as she continues her dance with her father.

Cory announces again: "Anyone who would like to join Shawn and Maya on the dance floor, my do so now." With that, he once again asks Topanga to dance with him again. She is surprised again, but happily follows him out on the dance floor.

Katy is watching her husband and daughter dancing together and is trying he best not to cry…and failing. Then she feels the presence of someone next to her and looks to see who it is. She smiles as she sees a tall handsome young man standing there with a smile on his face. "May I have this dance?" Josh asks. Once again Katy is surprised by her new son-in-law's thoughtfulness. She thinks to herself: "Even if he wasn't my son-in-law, I'd still love him just because of the young man he is; just like Shawn always has."

"I'd love to dance with you Josh, or should I say 'son.'" They both look at each other with sour looks on their faces. "That just doesn't work for us does it?" Katy asks. Josh laughs a little and says: "No, I guess it doesn't. Being that you're married to Shawn and all." He hesitates a second, smiles at her, and then says: "But if we can get over the weirdness of it, I wouldn't mind if you called me 'son.'" Katy smiles at him and thinks: "I just started loving him a little more. I'm so glad he's married to Maya."

After a few minutes Josh and Katy are noticed by Shawn. "Looks like your husband has a thing for attractive blonds." Shawn says to Maya as he motions toward his wife and new son-in-law. She notices them now and smiles at them. Then she gets a stern look on her face and says: "Don't dance too close to him mom. He's mine and I won't let go of him."

"Well, you're dancing with my husband too you know." Katy retorts. "Oh yeah, you're right. Guess we're even then." Maya says as they all share a laugh. "Be careful Josh, I think she has a jealous streak in her." Katy tells him. "I know, and I'll be careful. Wouldn't want that fierce Amazon warrior mad at me." One again they all laugh.

As the evening goes by, all of Maya's friends dance with her, Zay, Lucas, and Farkle of course. And the girls: Isadora, Sara, Molly, and even Riley take turns dancing with Josh. Riley especially wanted to so she could thank him again for marring Maya and making her so happy. After a while, as another slow song starts, Maya looks across the room, smiles and whispers something in Josh's ear that makes him smile and nod his head to her. Maya walks across the room to where her mom and dad, Cory, and Topanga are talking to a special guest. As she approaches the little group, Katy sees her first and says: "There's my beautiful Baby Girl."

"She is isn't she." Topanga agrees.

When she reaches the little group, she greets them with a smile. Then she turns to the fifth one in the group and asks: "Mr. Feeny, will you dance with me?" Shawn, Katy, Cory, and Topanga all recognize the respect Maya is showing their beloved teacher and friend. Mr. Feeny gives the young bride a bright smile and responds: "I would be honored to my dear. It's kind of you to ask." Then he holds out his arm for Maya; who takes is and let's Mr. Feeny lead her onto the dance floor.

As the two glide around the floor, all in attendance, including Maya, are amazed at how easily Mr. Feeny guides her around as they dance together. "Wow! Mr. Feeny," Maya exclaims, "you're really good at this."

He gives the young bride a smile and says: "at one point in my life, I danced a lot. But I am a bit rusty now. "You couldn't prove it by me." Maya exclaims. This brings a big smile to Mr. Feeny's face. After a few more moments of dancing, Maya looks at Mr. Feeny and says: "Thank for everything you've done for our family."

He's touched by her kindness. "You're welcome Maya, but I considered it an honor to marry you and Josh."

"I'm grateful for that Mr. Feeny, but I was thanking you for everything you've done for my family, both of them, the Mathews as well as the Hunters. Dad, Cory, and Topanga have told me so much about you. Dad said that you never gave up on him. And because of that, Cory and Topanga never gave up on me. For that, I'm forever grateful. You've given well thought-out advise to three generations of our families; Amy and Alan, Cory and Topanga, Eric, dad, and now Riley and me. We can never repay you for that."

Mr. Feeny is moved to tears by Maya's words and thinks: "Indeed she's not a little girl anymore, or a confused, restless teenager. But rather a grown woman who can conquer anything put in front of her."

"Thank you, Maya. Those are most kind words." He composes himself a little and tells her: "I never had the pleasure of having children or grandchildren," he tells her, "but if I had, I would want them to be just like you."

Maya is overcome by his words and before she realizes it, she throws her arms around Mr. Feeny's neck, hugs him tight, and quietly says: "That's the kindness thing anyone has ever said to me. I love you Mr. Feeny."

"I love you too, my dear." He tells her.

Elsewhere in the room, almost everyone is shocked by Maya's actions; some staring with mouths open. "I can't believe Mr. Feeny let her do that!" Cory exclaimed. "He loves her Cory," Topanga explains, just like he loves us. Don't you remember? When we said goodbye to him before we left for New York, he let us all hug him."

"Oh yeah," Shawn says, "I remember that. I guess he does love her."

Maya is on the verge of crying again, when she realizes what she's doing. She suddenly releases Mr. Feeny and begins to apologize. "I so sorry Mr. Feeny. I got carried away with what you said to me and I overstepped my bounds. Please forgive me!"

"It's okay Maya," he tells her. "I rather enjoy a good hug from those I love." Maya's eyes widen and a big smile forms on her face as she realizes that he's just told her again that her loves her. "Best day ever." She calmly says to Mr. Feeny and she resumes her dance with him.

Maya does one last wedding tradition; she tosses her bouquet. And as luck, of fate, or planning, would have it, it ended up in Riley's hands. "Guess you're the next one to get married Riley." Farkle says with a grin. "You planned this didn't you Farkle?" Riley accuses. "I don't know how, but you planned this I know."

"Why, what ever do you mean Riley?" Farkle says with a smile as he walks away. She looks after him with disgust as the rest of the ladies who were standing with her begin to leave. She turns to see Lucas looking at her, grinning. "Ugh, he was probably in on this too." She turns and walks away in disgust. But she's smiling.

A little while later, Riley came up to Josh and Maya and tells them: "It's about time for you two to change into your travel clothes. There's a car and driver waiting to take you to the airport to start your honeymoon. And you can't miss your flight." They had decided they would honeymoon in the United States, out West: Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. It was Josh's idea. He knew Maya had always wanted to go there and paint. He would carry her art supplies for her while she painted. Maya told him that was a great idea as long as they made plans for "other activities."

"Aww Riley, do we have too?" Maya asked with a big pout on her face. "I'm having so much fun!"

"I know you are Peaches, but if you want to have fun on your honeymoon, you can't miss your plane!"

Maya sighs deeply and says: "Sometimes Riles, your gift of practicality is a pain in the butt." This causes Riley to pout a little. Then Maya hugs her and says: But I love you anyway." This makes Riley happy again. Maya kisses her on the cheek, then says: "Come on Josh, let's go get changed so we won't miss our flight." The two head out of the room to do just that.

Riley goes to the microphone and gets everybody's attention. "Okay everyone," she begins. "While Josh and Maya are changing, everyone should go outside and form two lines for them to walk through. When they do, we'll all toss our rice on them. The bags of rice are on the table beside the doors leading out." Riley is efficient as usual.

A little while later, the young couple come through the doors and see what's waiting for them. They hold hands and begin to walk the gauntlet. Everyone peppers them with rice that gets in their hair and into their shirts. But they don't mind and they laugh all the way.

As everyone begins to go back inside, Maya and Josh stop to say goodbye to their patents and Cory and Topanga. After that, the older adults head back inside and the newlyweds head for their awaiting car. When they do, they see Riley standing there with Lucas standing close by. When they near Riley, Josh says to Maya: "Why don't you take a couple of minutes to say goodbye to Riley. Maya smiles at him nods her head.

As she approaches Riley, tears fill her eyes and her lower lip begins to quiver. Maya notices her and ask: "What's wrong Riley, why are you about to cry?"

"Don't you see Peaches; this is the end of this chapter of our lives and another is beginning."

"I know that honey, and I'm really happy about that."

"I know that Maya and I'm happy for you, I really am. But you're married now and your first responsibility is to Uncle Josh, as it should be."

"So?" Maya asks confused.

"So?!...Don't you see Maya. Things will never be the same between us. You're with Uncle Josh now and who knows where you two will end up and we'll probably only see each other on holidays. It just won't be the same." Tears start running down her face and she begins to cry.

"Oh honey, don't cry. Yes, this is a new chapter in out lives, but who says that chapter won't include you, a LOT of you?"

"Do you think?" Riley asks hopefully.

"I know." Maya sates flatly.

Now Josh, who's been standing next to Maya this whole time, speaks to her in a soothing voice. "Riley, we're not going anywhere. We're planning on staying right here in the city."

"You're sure?" She askes again. Feeling a little better now.

"Yes, I'm sure." He answers his niece. "Riley, do you remember what I told Maya at the beginning of our ceremony?" She nods her head yes. I told her that I'm going to spend every day for the rest of my life making her happy." Riley looks at him hopefully now. Then he asks her: "And do you think Maya would be happy if I took her away from you?"

"No, she wouldn't." Riley looks at Maya, who gives her a reassuring nod. "Time and distance, nor a husband have no power over us." Maya says paraphrasing what Riley had told her after they found out she wasn't moving to London. "You and I are together forever."

Riley finally realizes what they're telling her: 'she's not going anywhere.' "Oh Peaches!" Riley exclaims and hugs Maya tightly. "Come here Uncle Josh, I want to hug you too." She brings them both in for a hug that almost strangle them both. When she finally releases them, she says: "I love you both. Now go! So you won't miss your flight. And I'll talk to you when you get back Maya. And I'll want details…ALL the details," she tells Maya. "Every single moment." She promises Riley.

"Oh boy." Josh says with a knowing look on his face. "Oh come on Josh!" Maya says. "You know Riley and I have no secrets from each other."

"Yeah, I know." Josh says. "Why would I believe things would be any different just because we're married now?"

"Exactly!" Both girls exclaim in unison. Which causes Josh to shake his head in disbelief of the two.

"Now go!" Riley says as she heards them to the waiting car.

When they get to the car, Josh opens a back door for Maya to get in and follows in after her. As soon as Josh closes the door, Maya jumps on his lap and starts kissing him. Josh doesn't stop her and kisses her back. Suddenly they hear from the front seat: "Alright you two, you can get a room AFTER you get to your hotel." Then they hear laughter from the front seat.

"Andrew?! Josh and Maya say together, clearly surprised. "Yeah," he begins, "Riley appointed me as your chauffeur to get you to the airport and safely onto the plane. I,m one of the few she trusts with your safety, I guess. So, I should be proud of myself I guess."

"Yeah, I guess so." Maya tells him. "Now," Andrew begins, "Maya; back in your seat and both of you put your seat belts on or I'm not leaving." Maya resigns herself to behaving and does as Andrews asks. As the car begins to move, Maya takes Josh's hand in her and says: "I love you. Best day ever."

"Couldn't have said it better myself." Josh tells her. Then he leans in a gives her a soft, sweet kiss. Maya leans on his shoulder for the rest of the trip.

Riley watches the car until it fades out of sight. Then she lets out a big sigh. Lucas walks up behind her, puts his arms around her, and hugs her gently. "You know Riley," he begins, "Maya and Josh meant it. They're not going anywhere. If anyone tried to separate you two, even Josh, I think the world would split apart."

Riley smiles at that, feeling better now. She turns to face him while remaining in his arms. "Thank you Lucas. I needed to hear that I guess." She smiles brightly now and almost laughs. "What?" Lucas asks her. "I was just thinking. I always thought I would get married before Maya."

"I think most of us did honey." He tells her. "But that was before we really understood their relationship. Those two were destined to be together since they were kids."

Riley smiles again and says: "Yeah, you're right. And I am really happy for them." She sighs again as Lucas releases her from his hug. Riley says: "Well, I guess I need to get back to the rec hall to make sure it get cleaned up properly."

"Yeah, they'll need good leadership to make sure it's done right." He tells her. She miles, nods at him, and says: "I love you, Lucas." Then heads to the rec hall. "Love you too, Riley," he returns. As she walks away, Lucas says to himself: "Steady Lucas, you know this is the right time." He puts his hand in his coat pocket and gets reassurance as he rubs the small, velvet covered box there. He smiles broadly then and thinks. "Maya will be helping with planning a wedding herself just as soon as she gets back from her honeymoon." He pats the little box one more time, then heads to the rec hall to help.

-End-

A/N: Well, that's my story; Maya's story; Maya's Journey. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing and publishing it. It was a labor of love on my part and in my mind, in my GMW universe, answered a lot of unanswered questions from the TV series. And I'm sure some of you may be thinking that I may have ended this story on somewhat of a cliffhanger. And I guess I did, but this is as far as I wanted to go. Maybe one of you creative writers would like to continue it. I do see into the future Maya being happy and her and Josh staying together forever even with life's ups and downs. I see her and Riley's children all becoming close friends and caring for and protecting each other. And maybe, just maybe, two of those children fall in love as children and stay together all their lives, thus carrying on a Matthews/Hunter family tradition; Cory & Topanga and Maya and Josh.
