Discussing their dreams later over breakfast Star and Heavy found that they had the same one. Heavy couldn't understand it, and Starlight agreed that it was very rare. They put their trays away and went back to the medical bay to tell Standing Bear and get his opinion. Before they could he looked at Star, "We are to return home." She signed back one word When? The answer was in a soft voice, "A ship will be here to pick us up the day after tomorrow." Standing Bear noticed that Starlights hand unconsciously slipped into Heavy's. He attempted a smile, "You two had something to tell me?"
Starlight nodded and told him all about the dream that she and Heavy had both experienced the night before. Standing Bear looked to Heavy for confirmation. "It's as she says sir. I can't understand it but Star says it happens sometimes among your people."
Taking a deep breath the older man explained that the fact they had seen each other in the dream was significant, and having the same one hadn't happened among the Vanglorians for several hundred years. No one thought it could happen to a clone. Addressing Heavy "We thought that the ability had been lost, but I guess you woke it in Star."
The Republic Clone was close to panic, "What ability?"
Raising a hand, "The ability to share another's experiences." A deep breath, "It was said in ancient times that the one you shared experience with this way was the universes chosen mate for you." Shaking his head, "But I don't know how much anyone would count it in this situation." Looking at the young couple, "Why don't you two take a break to process it and discuss it later?"
Heavy and Star nodded but Heavy spoke, "Agreed." Turning to Starlight, "I'll see you at lunch." She nodded and he left. Before Standing Bear could speak she had hurried across the room to straighten the pile of new bandages as a show that she did not want to talk.
