Lils POV

My heart raced as I regarded the officer.

"Good afternoon, sir." I said, emotionless. He laughed and I tensed, aware of what was to come. I steeled myself to fight, knowing that I could not shift or reveal my vampiric abilities without having to kill him. It looked like I would have to fight my way out as a mortal.

"Hello, Lieutenant." He breathed, expression sending shivers down my spine. He placed a hand on my waist, which I smacked away, trying desperately to release my neck from his grip. He was the same height as me and his hand was squeezing painfully. I struggled, kicking out at him, but he pulled me closer, squashing me between himself and the wall so I had nowhere to run. I screamed at the top of my lungs; to silence me, he placed his lips over mine. I couldn't draw enough air, but I carried on screaming into the black space that was the pack link, before. I felt his hand pulling down my combat pants and struggled harder, letting some of my vampiric strength out. Killing him did not seem like such a bad option now, rather than having to face him after this. He thrust into me, grunting and I screamed as loudly as I could. He slapped me hard around the face, ring drawing blood.

A fire burned within me, telling me to get him arrested, and make him spend a long time in prison. Death would be too easy for him. He finished, spurting his release over me. I didn't shed a tear, instead staring at him, defiant until the last. He turned and walked out of the passageway, spitting as he disappeared from sight. I sank to the ground, huddled in a mess of my blood and his ejaculation. He had taken me, like Wyatt, but unlike Wyatt, he would not be afforded death. The sky was darker now, with little flecks of orange clouds; the jungle had come alive, with cicadas chirping and monkeys whooping. I would not let him win.

I stood, wincing at the soreness in my joints. I headed out of the alcove, shivering slightly. A hand grasped my shoulder and I almost screamed, but in the half-light, I could see it was Bailey.

"There you are; Major Brent told us all that you were missing, and that he had seen you running into the forest. We have been searching for hours. I have to take you to Camp Commander Chapman." His voice was terse as he turned away, marching towards the offices. I followed dumbly, unable to quite process what had happened. Bailey knocked on the door to Chapman's office.

"Come in." A deep voice called.

"Thank you Corporal. I will take it from here." I managed to make my shaking voice sound commanding as I stepped through the door into the smoky office. Chapman liked to smoke a variety of cigars, from the smell. As I saluted, the floodlights came on outside.

"At ease. Major Brent has informed me that you went missing from your post three hours ago. We have been searching, and you haven't appeared, abandoning your duties. Excuses won't cut it, and there is no explanation good enough, I can assure you. Now, you have a choice: either leave of your own volition or take this through an official hearing. Here is the appropriate paperwork, which I want one set of on my desk by 08:00 hours. Dismissed." Chapman didn't look up once as he slid the paper across the table. My tongue was glued to the roof of my mouth as I took it.

I didn't want to take this to a military court. The shame, and the judgement that would follow me from there on would be so severe that it wasn't worth it. I saluted again and left, walking out of the door and right into a gaggle of my soldiers. Unconsciously, I flinched, ducking as I tried to walk through them. Someone caught my arm and I stifled a scream, turning to look at them. It was Bailey.

"What the hell is going on?" He asked, voice icy. Feeling the weight of many pairs of eyes, I unhooked his hand from my arm, clearing my throat.

"I am going back to my mess to fill out some paperwork." I held back the tears that threatened to fall.

"Lils, don't bullshit me. I heard what went on in there, and I know that you wouldn't give up so easily. At least push it through the courts." He pleaded.

"No. I am resigning because I left my post. I am sorry; I let you all down." My voice wobbled, but Bailey narrowed his eyes.

"You wouldn't do that unless you had good reason to. Where did you go?" He tried to catch me out.

"Into the forest, because I felt like having some time to..." My voice caught; I couldn't keep this up for much longer. I stepped away, rubbing the back of my neck gently.

Bailey POV

What was Lils playing at? As she stepped away, I decided to have a proper look at her, for anything that would disprove her story. A large bruise was forming across her face, complete with a small cut leaking blood. Her always immaculate beret was lopsided, hair falling out oddly, and her lips were swollen and bruised. A purple and red mark was forming across her neck, looking angry and painful; her usually perfect uniform was rumpled and creased, stained with what looked to be blood... and come.

"Lils, what did he do to you?" I breathed, pity flaring. She glared at me.

"Nothing. No one did anything. I was in the jungle, and this is the result." She gestured to herself. "I am going to do my paperwork. I guess this is goodbye." Her voice broke and I could see that she was barely suppressing tears. I took a step towards her and she cowered, a scream working its way through her tightly sealed lips. Immediately, Eagleton and Forster were pulling me back.

"What did you do?" Lalley barked, judgement plastered all over his features. They had obviously drawn the same conclusion, but with Lils' reaction, I was the perpetrator. Major Brent came striding past, eyes fixing on Lils.

"Ah, Lieutenant. It is so good to see you back." His voice was too smooth as he pulled her towards him, kissing her roughly. I was about to jump on him when Lils swung an impressive punch at his head, knocking him to the floor, just like Chayse all those years ago.

"Do not touch me, or I swear I will cut off your fucking balls." She growled, more wolf than woman. He sneered up at her.

"Do your soldiers know that I took you? Do they know that you screamed and struggled but you weren't good enough? Do they know that inside you are just a weak, pathetic woman?" He was on his feet now, smirking as he spat the vile words. He grabbed her neck and forced her to kiss him again as she screamed. Lils aimed a kick at his crotch, which was on target, but he just pushed her against the wall. There was a blinding flash as all the floodlights went out. When they flickered back to life, Lils was on top of Brent, throttling him. I was not going to intervene, but she let go.

"Death is too good for you." Lils barked. Brent's face was a mask of fear as he scrambled to get away; Lils watched with something like revenge flashing across her features. I felt as if I was not good enough, that by letting it happen I had failed.

"Lils, was that what happened?" I made my voice soft, as if speaking to a baby. She shot me a dark look.

"Lieutenant, Clayton. Do not treat me like I'm made of glass; I've been through this before and I know I can cope. As I said, I am going back to do the paperwork. Goodbye." Her voice was icy as she turned on her heel.

"Ma'am, can you explain?" Lalley bit out.

"What do you want to hear?" She asked in return, not turning around.

"I want to know what the fuck that was, what happened to cause it, and whether you require medical assistance." Lalley responded.

"That was Brent trying to assert dominance and me refusing to let him. This is a result of him... of him raping me; I do not give a flying fuck about medical assistance. Satisfied, Lalley?" She spat, looking for all the world like a queen without a throne.

"Lil-... Lieutenant, you have to do something about it." I pleaded. Lils shook her head, striding back to her mess.

"Fuck." Forster breathed.
