Author's Note: Hey, guys! I did Snape, while sillykitty201 did Lily. So, I just wanted to tell you guys that I will be taking a break from fanfiction next week, so I won't be posting until September 14th. And now, since school is starting, I'll only be able to post Marauders every other week. Thank you for understanding, and please R&R!
Severus Snape
Lily Potter
I'll admit, I was a bit stupid.
NOT.
I had my reasons for going to the Whomping Willow. First of all, if I revealed to everyone that Remus was a werewolf, then students' parents would be scared and stop sending kids to Hogwarts. And then, everyone will hate Remus's family, and then either Dumbledore will kick him out, or the filthy half - breed will drop out himself.
Genius, right?!
That, and because I wanted to prove to Lily I was right. Oh, and because I was curious.
But now, Lily is so mad at me. Well, beats me! Lily is just overreacting to this whole situation way too much. She'll come around, like she always does.
As I headed to Potions, I headed to my original spot, the one where me and Lily usually sit. When I sat at the table, I expected Lily to come sit with me, but when she went to go sit with Lupin, I realized with a pang that she was still ignoring me. I also realized she was trying to prove to me that she didn't care about Lupin's condition.
Hurt was evident on my face, but it soon dissolved into anger. I glared at Lupin, and proceeded to work on the potion. Soon enough, fatty Slughorn came over.
I rolled my eyes, but Slughron ignored this and said "My boy, don't you have a partner?"
I didn't respond. He continued.
"Well, you must have one. Otherwise, you get a zero on today's class."
I growled, and I made eye contact with Rodolphus to come over. He came over and sat beside me.
Slughorn smiled a little, and left.
I ignored Rodolphus, but he didn't do the same.
"Snape! Boy, that Slughorn is a real pain, isn't he? Say, Snape, would you help me with this potion? I'm getting a little confused with all these instructions. After all, you are the potions master."
I looked at him threateningly, and he didn't say another word throughout the rest of class.
That Slughron was such a..
A.. a..
A slug. A slimy, insufferable, slug.
In fact, that's my new nickname for him.
The Slug. It definitely suits him.
I told all my friends at the Slytherin table my new nickname for Slughorn, and they doubled over in laughter. At least they have a sense of humor.
Unlike Lily.
I tried to keep my mind off her during lunch, but the more I tried to think about something else, the more I kept glancing back at Gryffindor table to steal glances at her.
She was talking to those girls, Halince and Sline. Man, I hate them. They're so…
Girly.
So unlike Lily. She deserves better.
And that Halince girl is Black's boyfriend. So, obviously I'm going to hate her. I bet she's just like that meddlesome Black.
I stare at the girls for a little more, and it's almost as if everything is in slow motion, and as though everything is focusing on Lily.
I can see Lily flipping her hair to the side, talking to her friends happily, as though she doesn't have a care in the world. Apparently, Lily says something funny, and the rest of the girls laugh.
It's almost like she's already happy where she is.
Sweet, beautiful Lily.
I am snapped out of my daydream when Lily turns her head to look at me. I quickly shift my gaze, and start looking down at my food. Although, I am positive Lily had definitely seen that.
"Oi! Snape! Did you hear us?" It's Malfoy. I quickly glance up and smile, even though I have no idea what they're talking about.
"What?" I ask curiously.
They boys all look at each mysteriously, and I can tell they're all in on some secret I don't know of.
"What?!" I ask, impatiently.
"You tell him," Rodolphus says.
Malfoy is about to protest, but he is interrupted.
By me.
"TELL ME!" I holler, but not loud enough for the whole room to hear.
Malfoy finally speaks.
"I overheard the girls speaking, and they said that that Evans girl had a crush on you."
My mouth drops open.
"She - she - Lily - has - has a crush - crush on me?" I stammer, instantly turning red.
The whole table looks like they are holding in on laughter. I stare at them, but they don't say anything, only collapse into laughter.
Malfoy is laughing, but he turns a little bit more serious.
"You didn't let me finish, Snape. I was going to say: NOT!" He collapses into laughter.
I turn even more redder, and start stomping out of the Great Hall.
My friends have completely made a fool out of me.
Days pass, and I don't speak to my so - called friends for a while. I am mad at everyone.
Well, everyone except Lily. I need to be friends with her again. I can't give up on her, not yet.
I boldly take a step towards her in Potions, but she doesn't even look up. I clear my throat and begin.
"Lily, I-" I start.
Lily holds her hand up.
"No, no, no, no. Not this time. I don't want to hear it."
"Lily, please! I'm sorry! I'll do anything, if it means that you'll be my friend again!"
"Really, Sev? Anything?"
I nod.
"Okay, fine, Sev. You know what? If you really care, then I want you to hang out with the Marauders for a whole week. No buts, no exceptions."
"But-"
"Sev, I'm telling you. And guess what? No fighting. You have to get along with them. Then, that means you care. And, guess what? I will be asking them if you start fighting with them. So, you better start getting along. But after that, you can go back to hating each other. Those Marauders can be a pain."
I silently think about this, and I am ready to protest. But then, if this wins back our friendship, I'll do it.
I walk away happily before I pass the Marauders talking to each other. Then, it hits me.
Oh Merlin, what have I gotten myself into?!
Let's just say hanging out with the Marauders has not been a walk in the park.
Day One: "I wonder what McGonagall hides in that closet of hers!" And, of course, those stupid Marauders start investigating McGonagall's room after doing all their homework. Turns out she was hiding an advanced spellbook. The Marauders stole the spellbook, and we explored the different spells.
Day Two: "What does Pomfrey keep on eating at lunch?" The Marauders went into her room and discovered different kinds of chocolates. Turns out, Pomfrey was experimenting with different kinds of chocolates flavors to create her own. Those Marauders stole most of the chocolates, and they left about ten pieces behind. We each got an equal share, and I have to admit, the chocolates were delicious!
Day Three and Four: Sirius found a book of advanced potions in the Restricted Section, and we created Felix Felicis (with my help, of course). Since it was a complex potion, it took a little while, but we created a tiny bottle of it. Once again, we gave each person an equal share of liquid luck, so that each person can use the potion for one day only.
Day Five: I got so tired of the Marauders silly pranks, I drank the bottle of liquid luck. Besides, I could create that potion anytime. So, today, the Marauders did what I wanted to do. I convinced them to do my homework without making any errors. While they were doing my homework and their homework, I went to talk to Lily and hang out with my friends. They were stuck doing homework for the whole day, so I was practically free.
Day Six: They claimed that I was free to do whatever I wanted to today. I was a little surprised, but they didn't have to ask me twice. I used my freedom, but at the end of the day, when the Marauders played a nasty prank on me, I realized why they gave me my freedom for one day.
Day Seven: They made me create a love potion, and then claimed that James was going to give it to Lily. I frowned at this, but I couldn't argue. But to my surprise (and glee), the love potion somehow went into the hands of Lupin, and let's just say that the whole day went unexpectedly great.
"Sev, you're the best!" Lily told me as I hugged her. I told her that I had hung out with the Marauders for a whole week, and I even explained their disastrous pranks to her one by one. She frowned at them, which improved my mood even more.
"So, how did you do it?" she asked suddenly.
"Do what?"
"Hang out with them."
"All in a day's - I mean week's - work," I told her proudly.
I repeated this in my head until I had finally dozed off that night. I think it really was worth it, hanging out with the Marauders. Because, in the end?
In the end, I got my Lily back.
Boys are idiots. The whole lot of them.
Especially the ones I have the burden of interacting with. Would you like me to lay out a list?
Gladly.
Lily Evans's List of Idiotic Boys
(aka, all of them)
1. Severus Snape
a) Went down to the Whomping Willow and nearly got himself KILLED.
2. Sirius Black
a) Told Messr Snape how to get to the Whomping Willow and didn't even go down there to save him himself.
3. James Potter
a) Started a duel with Messr Snape when we were all ABOUT TO GET KILLED!.
4. Peter Pettigrew
a) Hangs out with the Marauders...
5. Remus Lupin
a) Okay, so maybe he's the one guy who isn't an idiot… but he still helps the Marauders with their pranks and other shenanigans so that has to count for something.
I look up from my list with a smile on my face. Much better. Listing out other people's faults is helpful when you're mad at them.
And NO, I am still not arrogant.
"Hey Evans, can I sit here?" I hear a voice from behind me. I jerk my head up to see Potter standing there, looking at me with an expressionless face.
"Um.. sure. But, wouldn't you rather sit with your friends?" I reply, gesturing towards Remus, who is near the fireplace, Sirius, who is sitting on the steps, and Peter, who is on the cozy armchair near the portrait hole.
Potter's face darkens for a second, before returning to his neutral mask.
"No thanks. Can I sit here?"
I pause, looking at his darkened eyes, before nodding and returning to my paper.
He takes a seat next to me on the couch, and begins scribbling something on a piece of parchment.
For the first time in two weeks, I begin to notice how the Marauders are all avoiding each other. How the rest of the school hasn't laughed in two weeks. How much everyone needs the Marauders.
How much the Marauders need the Marauders.
Severus asked for forgiveness.
Well, I don't fucking care.
I told him I would forgive him, on one condition.
He has to hang out with the Marauders for one week, with no complaints, arguments, or fights.
If he really, really loves me (as a friend), he'll do it. Because Sev hates the Marauders. However, if he really cares, he'll do it. I know he will.
Luckily, the Marauders are back to normal as of Sunday, and so Sev won't have to deal with them fighting amongst themselves.
"How did you do it?" I asked Sev after I had forgiven him. He had simply smiled and said, "All in a day's work."
I had grinned back, and hugged him.
See, Sev really is a true friend. I don't care what everyone else says. He is not a bad person.
The school is normal again. Sev and I are best friends. I am also best friends with Alice and Mallory. The Marauders are pranksters again…
Yes..
Everything at Hogwarts is alright again.
"Alice?" I call, clutching my book to my chest. "Alice!"
No answer.
"Mallory? Alice? Hello!"
Wonderful. I got up from my studying just to enter a room with nobody in it. I huff loudly.
Great. Now I have to go back down and study.
"Hey Lils!" Mallory says, and I jump. I turn around to see Alice and Mallory standing there.
"Mallory! Alice!" I squeal, and leap out to hug them. But then...
Then, I notice their appearance.
Mallory is wearing shiny lip gloss, and her neat, blonde hair is tied back into a neat ponytail that sways every time she moves. There is a simple heart-shaped clip in her hair, and her hair tie is bright blue. Her black shirt has ruffles on the bottom and the sleeves end at her elbow. Her skinny jeans are the same color as her hair tie, and her shoes are black flats. Lastly, she has on a white bracelet that shines everytime it hits the light. She also has on a black and white sweater that hangs off her shoulders.
Alice has on cherry red lipstick, and she has on a pink flower clip in her straight, jet black hair. As always, her hair is in a neat pixie cut. She has on soft, baby pink eyeshadow, and is sporting a seafoam green cold shoulder shirt, with pink leggings. She has pink Converse that cover her white socks, and has on a shiny seafoam green watch with roses. She pairs her clothes with a denim jacket that will keep out the cold long enough.
I gape at them.
"W-where are you going!?" I sputter.
"Do you not like it?" asks Alice, simply avoiding my question.
"I- I love it! You look wonderful!" I exclaim, and the two beam. "But where the hell are you going?!"
"On a date," they both answer at the same time, and I let out a strangled scream.
"WHAT!? Where? When? How did I not know about this?"
"With Sirius. To Hogsmeade, Lilykins. Now. And, no offense, but you've been kind of wrapped up in Snape to care about us," Mallory answers calmly.
"Frank," is all Alice says when I look at her disbelievingly.
"But- I'm sorry! I- wait, since when are we all going to Hogsmeade?"
"Lily, we're going to be late. Sorry to disappoint. We'll see you later!" replies Alice, and she pushes past me, and out of the dormitory.
I should probably be wondering why they're so mad at me, and why I didn't know it was a Hogsmeade weekend. But the only thought that is running through my mind is:
Great. More studying.
They're finally back! Oh my god, it's been two hours!
"Mallory! Alice!" I say excitedly back up in our dorm room. They've finally come back, and their faces are glowing with happiness.
"How did it go?" I ask, a goofy grin on my face.
"AMAZING!" gushes Mallory.
"Splendid," replies Alice softly with a dreamy look on her face.
"Okay. Well, Mallory first. Sorry Alice, but Mallory looks like she's about to burst," I say, laughing.
Mallory gives me a small glare, and Alice laughs as well. But, Mallory's fury doesn't last long because soon she is describing everything that happened on her date.
EVERY. SINGLE. THING.
"Okay so, first I went down there and Sirius was waiting there, talking with his friends. I came down, and he looked up at me with a smile. 'Hey Mallory,' he said with a smile, and I replied with 'Hey, Sirius.' Sirius gave a glare to his friends before looking at me and saying, 'You look amazing.' Apparently, his friends didn't get the memo because they began snickering loudly. Sirius glared at them, and shoved James backward. He then proceeded to grab my hand, and we ran off, laughing loudly," Mallory giggled, and I grinned. She continued on to tell EXACTLY what happened in the carriages, but I may or may not have zoned out for that… Then, she began talking about when they arrived at Hogsmeade, and I tuned back in.
"Sirius took me around the village, but this time we didn't go to Madame Puddifoot's. We just wandered around the village, talking and laughing.
I learned a lot about Sirius tonight. I learned about how much he appreciates and respects his friends. He absolutely loves them, Lily! LOVES THEM! We went to Zonko's, and Sirius bought a few things and then we went to the Three Broomsticks. We just sat there, talking and sipping our butterbeers.
Oh, Lily! He made me laugh so much! He has so many funny jokes, but he is such a kind and sweet person inside! We talked about a lot of things. Hogwarts mainly, such as the teachers, our friends, the homework, the tests, and oh my! I had simply the best time!
After, we came back to Hogwarts, and Sirius took me down to the kitchens. We ate a small dinner, and then our date was over. However, before we entered the Gryffindor common room…" she trailed off, staring into space dreamily. But she caught herself and quickly continued again, as if she had never stopped.
"Srius grabbed my hand, and pulled me back. He stared into my eyes for a minute… did I forget to mention that he has the deepest grey eyes ever!? They are so pretty…" Mallory trails off again, and I snap my fingers in front of her face to inform her that she needs to continue. She jumps back into reality and finishes with,"...and then he kissed me, and walked into the common room with a smile."
Mallory looked at me with a whimsical look in her eyes.
"It was amazing, Lily. Amazing."
Alice and I stare at her, and then simultaneously tilt our heads to the side and echo in the same whimsical tone of voice, "Amazing."
Mallory beams at us.
"Now, Alice's turn!" she squeals, and we both turn to Alice expectantly.
Alice rolls her eyes.
"Oh, alright. So, I went down to the common room, and Frank was waiting for me with a rose. He held it out to me, and I accepted with a grin. Frank took me around town and we just wandered, laughing at other people and everything. He held my hand and squeezed it tight and I was having simply the best time! He kissed me quite a few times, and it was splendid, Lily. Splendid."
Mallory and I smirk at each other, and at the same time we breathe out, "Splendid."
With that, all three of us are on our beds, rolling with laughter.
I think that's apology enough… and I think they do forgive me.
Perfect.
