Back to normal time.

Pike was standing next to Pollard. They were still waiting for the transporter to bring the person from the damaged ship to the Discovery.

"What's taking so long?" Pike muttered.

"Don't be so impatient." Pollard said to him.

Pike looked over at Pollard. He then looked back at the transporter.

"Detmer if we're not careful, we'll lose the life sign." Pike said into his communicator.

"Sir I'm trying. All of the debris, it's getting hard to get the signal." Detmer answered him.

"I know you're trying you're hardest Detmer. If we have another option I would use that." Pike answered back.

"Yes sir."

Pike smiled to himself. He could trust this crew to carry out his orders. However, hard they might be.

"Sir I think I've got it." Detmer said over the communicator.

"Let's try it."

The transporter room rumbled into action. The ship rattled around a little bit as some of the debris was hitting the side of the ship. Pollard fell into Pike. She straightened herself up.

"Anything Detmer?" Pollard asked.

"Nearly there."

The ship rattled again. The transporter beam came into view. Something was coming through. Well struggling to come through.

"Got any more power Detmer?" Pike shouted down the communicator.

Before Detmer could respond, the ship shifted. Everything fell over including Pike and Pollard. The lights went out and everything went down.

The transporter beam stopped. Whatever had been transporting was now gone. They had lost the life sign and it's unlikely they could get it again.

"Sir are you alright?" Saru came through the communicator.

No response came back.

"Captain Pike?"

Still no response.

Back on the bridge, the crew were holding their breath. With no response from the transporter room, they had no idea what was going on.

"Detmer, can you get a live channel down to the transporter room?" Saru asked.

"I'm trying commander. There seems to be a communication difficulty."

"What about the life sign on the ship?"

"We've lost it Saru." Michael answered him.

"Completely?"

Michael nodded. Saru sighed. They had tried so hard and now it was gone.

"Is the life sign back on the other ship?" Saru asked.

"Haven't checked?"

"Well check commander Burham!"

"There won't be anything. It's gone." Detmer spoke up before there was another full-blown fight.

"Fine. Check the transporter room Lieutenant."

"Yes, commander Saru." Detmer answered.

Detmer scanned the room to check what was going on in the room. More importantly where was Pike and Pollard and did they need any help.

"Sir, I think I have found something!" Stamets answered.

"What is it?"

"The communicator is working."

"Well use it. Let's see if we get an answer."

Stamets pressed some buttons and the communicator was back online.

"Captain Pike, this is commander Saru. Are you alright down there?"
