It was time to take a long weekend out on the water to enjoy the summer.
Julie finally got Kelly into a speedo swimsuit to live up to his pictures on the wall.
"Wow, you are really white! The glare is burning my eyes." she is teasing him.
*grumble* "Why do I have to wear this thing again?" Kelly scowled
Julie snickered "The same reason I have to wear this stupid pink and lime green bikini! We just need to get you some sun."
"But you actually look good in a bikini!" Kelly smiled. He was admiring the view but was thinking about how a white bikini would look really good against her brown skin and black hair. He decided he was going to buy her one next time he got the chance.
She finally took a close look at him out in the sun. She smiles and starts touching him. "Mmm. We need to get you some sun! Wow, you have a lot of scars. Like a LOT. And a lot of bite marks. Most of those look a lot bigger than dogs. Wait, are those bullet holes?"
"Yep" he smirked "That's why I don't wear stuff like this."
"Do you know what they all are?" she is curious
"Mostly." he smiles.
"What's this one?" she touches one on his back
"A pflichttreue bit me when I was seventeen. It was a Wesen Council bounty and he decided to fight."
"What happened" she was curious.
"I killed him." he says flatly.
"And what about this one on your leg?" She touches another big bite mark.
"A Naiad. Also when I was seventeen. She was a Wesen Council bounty too."
"Seriously, you got bit by a mermaid? What happened there?" she is still curious
"I killed her." he says nonchalantly.
"Time to act normal" he snickered. Kelly and Julie had finally calibrated the alcohol thing. They had figured out that she was a ton of fun once she got just enough drinks to start smiling and relax. Everybody but Kelly thought she got really weird when she had way too many and shifted into ancient Sumerian. He was half witch, so witches being witches was fine with him.
Eddie Jorgenson and his new girlfriend Shirley and Martin Alvarez and his fiancee Maria met up with them and everybody headed out on the boat.
Shirley couldn't help asking about the scars either "Hey, what's that from?"
"A Lowen." he answered
Eddie snickered "That's where my sister bit him!"
"That's not from when she..." Julie was asking
Kelly cut her off. He wasn't in the mood to have the whole Grimm discussion with their girlfriends today "No, that's from the other time we broke up."
Eddie snickered again "They broke up four different times. James here was a glutton for punishment. Shelly's kinda crazy. Has Melissa bit you yet?"
Julie snorts white claw out of her nose
Kelly smirks "Not like that."
Maria and Shirley start naming off stuff to see what sorts of Wesen have bit him and left scars on him. Every single thing they name off has left bite marks or claw marks on him.
Shirley smirks at him "So James, how does a glue salesman get bit by so many Wesen."
He smirks "I was sort of wild in my younger days. I've calmed down a lot since Melissa and I got married. She's definitely my better half." and pats her on the back. She smiles.
Shirley smiles at him "James, you're an industrial sales rep for Xander adhesives, right? So what's the difference between the 118 and the 118A Polyurea formulations? My purchasing guys want us to switch but of course it's my responsibility to make sure it won't end up causing a bunch of returns or jam up our box making machines!"
Eddie's eyes go wide and he stares straight at Kelly. Julie slides up next to him with some sunscreen and puts her hand on his back while taking a sip of her White Claw.
He smiles "It depends on your application. The 118A is a bit more expensive because it's got a different additive package in it for thermal stability on the new polymer coated cardboards. The 118 is still the classic workhorse on uncoated cardboard and unprinted paper stock."
She is still asking questions "So which one meters better in the new automated box machines?"
He smiles "Well, it's hard to beat the 118 unless you are having condensing humidity problems, then the additive package in the 118A makes it flow better. Typically most people only run into that 3 or 4 days a year in the spring unless you are doing stuff like meat packing. I can get you some samples if you are interested."
Julie rubs some sun screen on Kelly and smiles "Honey, No shop talk on the boat." She hands Eddie's girlfriend a white claw. "Shirley, Eddie tells us you are a Pats fan. How do you think they are going to do with the new quarterback this year?"
Eddie looks at Kelly completely dumbfounded as Shirley starts talking football with Julie. Kelly winks at him.
A few hours later they are grilling burgers out on the sandbar. Eddie and Martin corral Kelly. Martin is teasing him about wearing a "banana hammock." Kelly smiles a goofy smile "You know Doc can be pretty persuasive. Turns out she likes the speedo."
Eddie has to ask him. "Ok, how did you do that Glue Salesman thing? You hardly know glue from chewing gum and Doc hates sports."
Kelly smirks "It's sort of a little trick we figured out last month. I'm not really sure how it works, just that it does. I was helping her work out of restraints and she kept freaking out. They made her remember Paris and she would panic. I was focusing on how to get free and I put my hand on her, and she just suddenly shook them off. It's like we can sort of download stuff to eachother."
Martin smirks "Wow! All I can say is that you guys are really weird. I want to see that again. Eddie, can you get Shirley to ask him another strange glue question?"
Eddie rolls his eyes. He really doesn't want to listen to glue talk today. Finally his friend pesters him into it, so he does. Julie was smiling while rubbing sunscreen on Kelly's chest and face while sipping her White Claw and he gives a long, detailed technical answer that answers her specific question. Finally Julie rolls her eyes at Kelly, makes another snide comment about boring shop talk, compliments Shirley on her bikini and asks where she got it while he sips his beer. Soon the girls are talking about shoes instead.
"That's amazing!" Martin smiles "It's like you and Doc can make eachother seem so normal!"
Eddie snorts beer straight out of his nose and starts laughing at his friend who summed it up perfectly. "I swear, you guys are so incredibly weird. You two are perfect for eachother."
