Hey, guys! I hope you're all safe! I hope you're all sane! I hope you're all blessed with brilliant house companions and high speed internet! I am staying positive because the world is fucking scary, and on with the chapter!
Also this is the second to last chapter, guys! Omg!
Jace woke up and felt completely disorientated.
The sun was shining brightly through the windows on the far wall, and his curtains were wide open, as though he hadn't closed them before going to bed. He always remembered to close his curtains, and even if he hadn't, for some weird reason, he was usually awake by six in the morning—seven at the latest—and the sun was never this bright.
Then there was movement at his side that he instinctively knew wasn't one of the werewolves in his pack, and he turned his head on the pillow to see a tangle of red hair.
Clary.
Everything from last night came back in a instant hit that almost knocked the breath out of him.
Max.
Jace felt his heart beat quicken in his chest and he jerked his body away from Clary's to look toward the side table. He hadn't taken his phone last night when they had taken off towards the woods, and that was a good thing, given there was no doubt it would no longer be in existence if he had. Jace tried to remember where he last had it, and after opening the bedside table drawer and not seeing it there, he rolled out of bed and headed toward the kitchen. He was surprised by the twinges that he felt as he moved. It didn't feel sore exactly, more just like an ache, like after a really intense work out when his muscles had been stretched and pulled in ways that they hadn't moved in a long time—or ever.
He had turned into a wolf.
His body had completely transformed.
Despite everything that was weighing on his mind right now, he couldn't stop the smile that pulled at the edges of his lips.
With all the craziness going on, everything that had happened last night, if he just let himself think about the fact that his wolf had broken free and had completely taken over his body, then he would be happy. Some werewolves might be worried, feel as though they were loosing control if something like this happened. Jace wasn't like that. He still had a lot to get his head around, but he had known that he was still in control, his human side still had control of his head.
Jace got to the kitchen and he saw his phone on the kitchen counter. He picked it up, and was glad that although the battery was low, it was still on. He had a couple of texts, from Isabelle, Alec and Maia. Isabelle's was just a few words, saying they were okay and they loved him. The next one from her was saying that they were giving him and Clary space, that they were all staying and Helen and Aline's.
Maia's were a bit more in depth about what had happened. Max had been beaten up, but not to the point where his life was in danger. That didn't matter, though—Jace's whole body clenched up, furious that someone had laid a hand on his pack.
If Valentine wasn't already dead, Jace would be storming out of the loft and hunting him down right, fully prepared to rip him to shreds with his teeth.
Alec's were right to the point.
Max is good. We're good. Clary will be okay. We're at Helens. Tell us if you need us.
Jace let out a heavy breath and put the phone down on the counter, bracing his hands against the edge of the bench and tipping his head back. The anger was swirling around him, making his muscles clench, but it was over.
They were safe.
Maybe he had some questions, but the people who were responsible for hurting his pack were dead.
And in large part, that was thanks to Clary.
"Hey," came a soft voice from behind him, and Jace's body jerked as he turned around to look at the redhead. She was completely naked, just like he was, and she still looked tired. Her face was a little pale and her scent was weak—but it was there, she wasn't trying to cover it up. Jace wondered if he should be worried, but she didn't look it, and he trusted her judgement. "Is your pack okay? Max?" Jace nodded his head once, feeling kind of proud that they had been her first questions.
"Yeah," he nodded again. "They're all okay—Max is going to be fine," he paused and then turned around so that he was facing Clary. "We''re all going to be fine because of you." Clary lifted a shoulder and then let it fall. She wasn't denying what he was saying, but she wasn't gloating about it either. Jace took a few steps closer to her and he put his hands on her bare shoulders.
He felt the shiver run through her.
He didn't say anything as his fingers trailed over her shoulders. She shivered again and her eyes darkened, and that was the only invitation he needed to lean forward and kiss her.
It was completely different from the other times they had kissed.
It was slow and it was all consuming in a different way.
She didn't try to fight him for control of the kiss, she voluntarily let him take the lead. He licked into her mouth and invited her tongue to play with his and she responded in kind and she relaxed against him, their naked bodies pressing together. Jace's hands came up to cup her face, and he held her tenderly, as though she was breakable. He brushed his thumbs over the apples of her cheeks, his fingers hooking around the hinge of her jaw as she pressed into his body.
They kissed for so long that Jace's lips felt swollen and when they pulled apart to take in a few deep breaths, he could see that Clary's were as well. He was hard, his cock trapped between their bodies, and he could smell Clary's arousal in the air. The heady scent surrounded them and Jace swallowed hard before leaning forward and picking her up, arms easily going around her and lifting her from the ground. Clary twined her arms around his neck and dropped soft kisses over his cheek and nose and mouth as he carried her to the bedroom.
Jace laid her down on the bed, which smelt safe and like them, and he went right back to kissing her. He didn't know how long they continued kissing for—definitely longer than he had ever kissed anyone. He was aching, his whole body wanted to stretch itself around Clary to ensure that she was safe and she never went through what she had gone through the day before. Her fingers were delicately running up and down his back, sending sparks shooting through his body.
He shuffled them up on the bed, until Clary's head was on the pillows, and she maneuvered herself underneath him gently so that her legs were on the outside of his. Jace reached down, rubbing one of her thighs gently, bending her knee so that her foot was pressed against the outside of his thigh. He felt her shivering, and he did the same with her other leg, pushing himself upward a little to allow for him to move her. It opened her up to him, especially when he then pushed her knees down, so that they were spread wide for him.
When Jace filled her, there was a gasp ripped from Clary's throat that sounded almost pained, but it was an emotional sort of pain. Jace couldn't stop his eyes from burning red as he stared down at her, filling her over and over again. Clary's eyes flickered, shifting between purple and green, and he could feel her magic there, thrumming under her skin, just below the surface, and she wrapped her arms around him tightly. She was making little whimpering noises that made Jace's whole body tight with need, and it didn't take long before she was tightening around him, and then just a few moments later, he was spilling inside her.
Clary's arms were tight around his neck and she had her face pressed against his throat. He could feel the dampness between her thighs and he knew that it was just going to gross, the longer they waited to clean up, but he didn't want to move. He twisted them slightly, so that he was lying on his side next to her, and Clary had just moved with him, their bodies still joined together, so she was part lying on him, part on her side.
Eventually, Clary let go, and they took turns going to the bathroom to clean up. When they came back together in the bedroom, they both climbed back into bed, pulling the duvet over them, Jace pulling Clary's body to him.
"I don't want you to leave," Jace said, speaking for the first time in what was probably a few hours.
"I'm not going to leave," Clary response, her voice rough as she stared up at him. "You've always been my home, Jace. The only reason I couldn't come...The only reason I couldn't be here before was because I was scared that I would trigger something in your memories and I didn't know if that was something that I could deal with...I knew that you were safe, because Charlotte was keeping an eye on you, but I thought that if me and you were together we would draw Valentine out."
"He found me anyway," Jace reasoned softly.
"It's not like I didn't try to stop that," Clary's voice sounded fierce, and he felt a spark of her magic race over his skin, coming from where her fingers were wrapped around his bicep. "I've pretty much spent my whole life looking for Valentine and my brother—half brother. I never wanted you to have to face them, after what you lost because of them." Clary sounded protective and there was a slight touch of guilt in her words as well, as though it was her fault that Jace had to face Valentine and his people. Jace wanted to pull her up on it, tell her that there was no way in hell that it was her fault.
He had made noises about blaming her before and he had made the mistake of agreeing with Maia earlier, but now he knew better.
Clary shook her head and took in a deep breath.
"You were one of the biggest parts of my life when I was younger," she murmured, and she released his bicep to reach her hand up and touch his face with two of her fingers. "And when everything fell apart, I never understood why you were taken from me when I had lost the rest of my family as well. I did when I got older...I can understand why your mum wanted your memory wiped, given everything that had happened with your dad."
The fact that he had witnessed his father being killed.
"I don't..." Jace took in a deep breath. "I don't remember much. Only bits and pieces. Mainly what I remember...Is you." Clary gave him a small smile. "And I know that you're family. I know that you're pack." Clary's smile grew and her eyes shone at him. "And I mean...We're pretty unstoppable when we're together, huh?"
"Damn right," Clary grinned at him and leaned forward to kiss him gently on the mouth.
I have a few TV recommendations few guys, since we've been inside doing almost nothing else for the past few weeks. Breeders is actually really funny in a total black comedy kind of way, although there's definitely a few things that hit a little close to home. And then there's Car Masters: Rust to Riches which is this car show where they take cars and do them up into something crazy. Me just writing that sounds bland as shit, and I never watch this shows! Haha. We never watch car shows or anything, but this one is just different, the whole group is just really entertaining. There's two seasons, so yeah, just check it out to see if it's your thing if you're doing the social distancing thing and remaining indoors unless you're one of our incredible essential workers—then you've got nothing but time!
My top ten songs that I would recommend this time around are;
1) Smiling When I Die - Sasha Sloan. 2) Forever - Fletcher. 3) On - BTS. 4) Kissing Other People - Lennon Stella. 5) Pretend You're Missing Me - Betty Who. 6) Not In The Same Way - 5 Seconds of Summer. 7) Paper Hearts - Tori Kelly. 8) Preacher Man - The Driver Era. 9) Ophelia - The Lumineers. 10) When We Were Kids - Walking On Cars.
I hope you guys enjoyed the update! And the recommendations! I hope they provided a little bit of distraction in these...Weird times we're living in. Leave a comment, let me know what you thought of the update and please recommend songs and movies and TV series and whatever! I've heard from a few people that they've looked at other peoples recommendations and really enjoyed them, so it's not just me you're being a hero for right now! Haha.
