Hi! Just a little taste of the Chamber of Secrets until I come back in October!
It was a warm evening in London at the Leaky Cauldron, where the young Gargoyle, Brooklyn, was currently living.
He was once second in command of his Clan back in Manhattan to Goliath, leader of the Gargoyles. But after a sticky situation with a trickster named Puck, Brooklyn was hit with a spell that sent him back in time to when Harry Potter first went to Hogwarts and was removed of his Stone Sleep. He met Harry on the outskirts of Privet Drive and formed a close bond with him.
He ended up getting his very own wand, a redwood with a Phoenix tail feather, which he had been practicing with. Brooklyn had learned quite a few popular spells from it:
Lumos
Expelliarmus
Wingardium Leviosa
Stupefy
Alohamora
His favorite by far had been the Expelliarmus spell.
Brooklyn was sitting on his bed in the Leaky Cauldron, browsing through his Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them book by Newt Scamander, which was by far his favorite book from the Wizarding World, and thinking about his family back at Manhattan and wondering about how Harry was doing.
His new Barn Owl, which he named Wyvern, was sleeping in his cage and hooting in his sleep.
Ever since he became the Guardian of Hogwarts, the people in the Leaky Cauldron haven't been as scared of him as they used to whenever he came down for a drink or food from Tom the bartender, who respected him the most.
And he even had the chance to visit Diagon Alley on occasion, fascinated by the many shops especially the Quidditch store, that now housed the Nimbus 2001 racing broom next to the one Harry had, the Nimbus 2000.
One particular day Brooklyn had been noticing that his trouble sending device on his wrist had been beeping on occasion, but he hadn't been able to get in touch with Harry to ask him about it, for no replies were coming.
Somebody must be stopping our letters for a reason, Brooklyn thought, looking out the window. A sudden idea came to him. If he can message his other human friend, Ron Weasley, they can figure out how to reach Harry.
He pulled out a piece of parchment and quill and wrote:
Dear Ron,
My trouble sensor device had been going crazy and I've been receiving no letters from Harry, even when I tried writing to him myself. I think somebody is stopping our letters.
If we can meet up sometime maybe we can figure out a way to get Harry and bring him either to the Leaky Cauldron or to your house, if it isn't too much trouble.
I hope you're doing well.
Brooklyn
He placed the letter in an envelope and opened Wyvern's cage.
"Take this to Ron Weasley, it's important," he told his owl, who booted importantly, took the letter, and flew out the window he opened.
Brooklyn paced for a while, praying his letter would get through.
Eventually, he spotted two owls flying back, Wyvern and a big gray owl, who was flying rather sloppily carrying a letter in its beak. It flopped down on the windowsill. Wyvern hooted indignantly at how 'graceful' this owl was and went to sit in his cage.
Brooklyn went over to pick up the owl and take the letter from it's beak. He placed the owl on his bed and gave him some water.
He opened the letter and read inside:
Hi, Brook!
Me, Fred and George will be more than willing to get Harry away from his Aunt and Uncle. Meet us outside the Leaky Cauldron tomorrow at 6:00 pm. We have special transportation waiting. And I had been asking Harry to come to our house, and we would love it if you can stay with us, too!
Looking forward to doing our Rescue Operation! And keep an eye on Errol for us until then. He isn't that great a flier for long distances.
Ron
Brooklyn laughed a little as he gave a small sigh of relief that his friends were willing to help. He at first wondered who Errol was but then he realized it was the unconscious owl on the bed. Must have problems, he thought.
He sat down on his bed and anxiously waited for the next day.
Until October, everybody! :)
