POV 1 "Dark Lady"; Link VRAINS meeting hall
All Charisma Duelists were gathered, which meant everyone apart from SoldatDelEnfere, who is working with the Hanoi and Blue Angel, who as my daughter and her friends found out was Aoi Zaizen and of course the head of security would want her away from this, in(her)stead we had a woman by the name of Ghost Girl who did not actually use a deck centered around ghosts.
"Who would've thought, SOL's defensive line was going to consist of a bunch of celebrities and one bounty hunter ?", Forbidden Monster grumbled, "If this goes on for longer, will they send in number 11-20 once they finished their duels in this event?"
"You forgot that for some reason Blue Angel and SoldatDelEnfere are absent from this collection.", 00Spyral said.
I know about Blue Angel, but we never actually found out whether Machinarex and SoldatDelEnfere were one and the same or whether this Jean Michel Roget just played the same deck, altough we strongly believe they are the same person.
"Clearly fighting among this secret force isn't as good of a way to disprove the rumors that he is Machinarex as appearing in VRAINS and trying to break his most duels in a day record.", Shining Angel said, "though maybe he hired a replacement. No idea about Blue Angel, she is probably just young."
"It would be hilarious if Machinarex wasn't here to show his face.", Neo Weatherman said.
However I could easily see them using a stunt double if both were one and the same.
"Shouldn't you 'celebrities' be more suprised that GO is taking part in this?", Ghost Girl asked.
"Dunkelsieg has pointed everything negative one could see about my situation and I will prove you all wrong with nothing but my victory over Playmaker and my grandiose return.", GO said confidently, definetly not caring about all the people that think he is just some attention hog.
"Noone will see your win here though.", TheSimpleChemics said.
"Then maybe he isn't as much of an attention fanatic as some accuse him to be if a victory over Playmakeronly he knows about satisfies him, wouldn't you all agree? Either way, stirring up old controversies is pretty pointless here.", TheSimpleAlchemics said.
'as much', would mean he is still an attention fanatic in some capacity.
"Meanwhile Dark Lady is back in her standard silent ways after her last victory against you .", Neo Weatherman said.
"I either agree or have no disagreements worth sharing.", I said.
"With a style like ours it's no wonder we'd keep them up in a situation like this.", Forbidden Monster said, "At most she'd remind you to fight Hanoi first so they and the forces of Playmaker destroy each other first."
"I wouldn't be sure this would be the right way, he took this strange AI, clearly a property of SOL. He may not want to destroy Link VRAINS and be against Hanoi , but dependency on SOL's enemies fighting each other would be insane.", Neo Weatherman objected.
I wouldn't assume it to be impossible that Neo or anyone else drags me into a fight against Yusaku or the rest, or that even Forbidden Monster will duel non-Hanoi before all of Hanoi are gone, I won't set out to do so, however, if it happens, it happens, anything else might blow my cover.
"Attacking a dangerous enemy over a less dangerous one, is only smart. Playmaker's Crew will have more than one victory over us at the very least if we target them that's for certain and we need all we can get to fight, nobody is talking about a permanent truce with the vigilante.", TheSimpleChemics said.
"This debate in a serious situation most here will choose the closest enemy anyway.", Shining Angel said, "Ghost Girl will likely do this by default and she is the professional here."
And so we became the not-so-omniscient council of bickering, I could say I wasn't at fault, if Forbidden Monster hadn't predicted my strategy correctly.
"This sounds more casual than you would expect from a bounty hunter, but we only have to ensure that there won't be enough forces to greatly outnumber Dunkelsieg and Numen, Hanoi won't be expecting a deck as strong as theirs.", Ghost Girl.
"Coming from a Bounty hunter, and having seen their decks for myself; this is a fact and not overconfidence.", 00Spyral agreed.
She was indeed right, neither Hanoi nor Yusaku and the others will be expecting something like them.
POV 2 Roget Hanoi HQ
"Before we start the attack on Link VRAINS, a final order for everyone.", Revolver spoke, " We have refined the earlier strategy so that the only ones allowed to split off from their partner are the three footsoldiers to delay the pursuers, everyone else will amplify their existing strength with that of a partner.
Also, we have a new program to ensure no victory will be for nothing."
Like that will really work or counts for anyone apart from me and Chihiro.
"What could it be that Kouhei Hagakure wouldn't be able to give you?
The program that allowed your destructive Virus to spare the 7th AI and nothing else did as it said.", I asked.
"We all know that we shouldn't unconditionally trust you, only one thing is for certain, that you're not on Playmaker's side, though we believe Kouhei Hagakure is on his own side, rather than SOL's.", Dr. Kogami answered.
"Are you that sure because you know him well or have you actually found out and just used the world 'believe' because it sounds prettier?", Chihiro asked. Almost something I could've said. Only I would've ended the sentence with "and thought I'd never suspected anything?"
"We do, in fact know because we have implanted a spy on his side." , Revover calmly answered.
"So, which one is it, Yukari Chiebukuro or Naoki Shima? I have seen the two for myself.", Chihiro asked.
"We won't tell you that or who they are in Hanoi's ranks. Let's just say that with Ignis' Data we have found a way to create a CCE doppelganger, that other than most dueling AI's does function in the emptied area. Sadly, while it is visually deceiving, the program is too instable at the moment to be used more than once, it will dissapear after logging out once.", Dr. Genome explained, "however that isn't the program we actually wanted to introduce."
"Then what did you intend to show us?", I asked.
"We call it the loss-stun-virus or stop-virus whenever anyone loses a duel as long as there is still one Hanoi member in Link VRAINS, cannot move from their current Position, while we couldn't fully exempt ourselves, if we deckout, we can keep dueling, while opponent's cannot rely on that."
"How lucky that I already added Cards of Desparation to increase chances of a One- or First-Turn-Kill to my deck, now it will also be a last chance save if I enemy cannot perform one.", I said.
"The footsoldiers will be added to my team, yours and your partners, Chihiro's footsoldier has an effect damage deck, while Machinarex' possesses a deck destruction deck and mine has an Exodia Deck.", Faust said.
"There is one thing else to tell you, we will all enter Link VRAINS at a different section of the destroyed area. "Since nobody is cursing themselves about an obvious mistake, believe that These actions make sense in some way.", Dr. Kogami said.
"Oh, I never would've made such a glaring mistake.", I said, "Then it's about time to enter the VRAINS."
POV 3 Yuto; Destroyed Area of Link VRAINS
"No baddies here yet.", Naoki said.
"But this Data Storm is everywhere.", Yukari noted.
"Then it seems we are going to be Speed Dueling for most of the time now.", Yusaku said.
"So we'll hop on to one of these wind-waves and scatter as planned, me and Yukari and the rest solo with the ability to call forth Kusanagi or the others when needed.", Mayoi said.
"Alright, time to fight Hanoi.", I said.
The conversation was over with that. But if you're interested, the Speed Dueling board of Yukari was shaped like a cut Diamond, while Naoki had a coin with a die's snake eyes. Before I met the first enemies, I for some reason saw part of the area being slightly rebuild, while the 1 vs 2 vs 3 we had with Aoi Zaizen, this happened as a side effect of creating cards with CCE it wasn't to the point of buildings being partially recreated, granted it was merely the first 2 or 3 Floors of what might have been a much larger tower, but still.
Eventually however, I could see Roget, a Hanoi Soldier with a mask and a young man in a white suit without a mask, grey hair and blue eyes.
"Why can't we make me or Yugo duel him, that would me a lot more fun.", Yuri suggested.
We have to keep each other at even kevel, they had this Tenebrae's skill, therefore, Ai's skill might be on their disks as well, which means we can give ourselves 'access' to the Data Storm.
"One of Playmaker's allies found us!", the masked one informed.
"Duel him on your own, before he turns being outnumbered into an advantage, by demanding more battle phases or something.", the unkown one said.
"No, get back here Roget!", Yugo yelled. I grimaced.
"Did someone intend to fight me sooner?", Roget taunted us, "I'm afraid the enemies of Hanoi have to prove themselves before the basic footsoldier's first before they may proceed any further."
"No, I-", I said, but, the Knight turned and activated his duel disk, ramming us, while the other two sped up.

"It's only one of them, if they don't have an insane numerical advantage they can't do anything.", Yuri said.
You shouldn't treat them as if they were the Obelisk Force, while they definetly can't be as strong as those that reveal their real faces, we shouldn't ignore Roget's arning that it would be more difficult from here on out. We don't even know if all of them share one deck, like the Obelisk Force or if they are all different.
"My turn, draw! I set two cards and activate Gryphon's Feather Duster, both are destroyed and I gain a total of 1000 Life Points. ( The Dark Knight LP: 4000-5000) After it's destruction Phantom Knights of Dark Souls revives itself and Shadow Veil as Level 4 monsters, I overlay them to summon Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, I attack your face-down Monster."
"I know you couldn't get rid of the spell/trap cards right now, but could this really have been a save move?", Yuya asked.
"The monster was Needle Worm, his flip effect sends the top 5 cards of your deck to the GY! (The Dark Knight's Deck: 21-16) Then I activate Book of the Eclipse, changing both of our monsters to face-down defense position,"
"Gr, that bastard!", Dark Rebellion screamed, "I'd rather be destroyed 10 times over by Larvae Moth than this humilliation!"
Does being change to face-down defense Position feel this much worse than being destroyed by a bad card?
"I don't particularly like being chained or anything resembling that by unworthy goons. Remember the creation of Odd-Eyes Rebellion? My rage is the fiercest when combating weak fools who don't deserve to cause this much trouble."
But can you live in rage forever? Even Odd-Eyes is beginning to see the errors of his ways, isn't he?

"My turn, draw, Dig up brings Needle Worm back to my hand as he is an Earth Monster with less than 2000 ATK, I set it and-", he tried to ram me off my board, but I swiftly dodged it, which to nobody's suprise was a trick to get an Action Card for himself.
"I got Delg the Dark Monarch, I Special summon him (ATK: 2400) , he may not be able to attack and destroy your Rebellion Dragon this turn, however, when Special summoned, I get to banish two cards from your GY and mill two new ones, I choose two Shadow Veil's that got milled by Needle Worm. Now-"
Of course this time I didn't fell for it and simply grabbed the Action Card first.
"I activate Crush Action, this turn all Action Cards anyone receives will be instantly destroyed."
"Well then it's good I have Attack on GHQ face-down already, I destroy Delg before you deal 3700 Points of damage next turn and mill two more cards. (The Dark Knight's Deck: 15-13) If only you had a deck full of 30 cards like me! HAHAHA I end my turn."
"Well, I have one.", Yugo
"Me as well, not that I would laugh evilly at you for it.", Yuya
"(The Dark Knight's Deck: 13-12) Believe me, I have all the cards I need, in fact, I have some that are exacly the right thing to stop your strategy with! First-", this time, I ambushed the KOH, for an Action Card, "not perfect, but this will do, I Special summon the Action Monster Malice Ascendant (ATK: 700) Then I normal Summon, Phantom Knights of Ancient Cloak, I change him into Defense Mode (DEF: 1000) to increase the attack power of Dark Rebellion by 800 until next turn (ATK: 2500-3300) And I set a card. I attack Needle Worm with Malice Ascendant, (The Dark Knight's Deck: 12-7) Then I attack you directly. (KOH LP: 4000-700)"
"Idiot, did your never think that even I would have all the destroyed AI's skills and now we even have Storm Acces!", the KOH boasted
I verified my skillset, I saw Darkdraw, Exile Switch and Storm Access Pathways, indeed he should've been able to activate the original.
"Technically, this would grant us info on their abilities, in a fight against someone who can't wield them to their full extent, in fact, I'll bet on this fool making a misplay with it.", Yuri noted.
"He seems unaware that now even the weakest creature, like the Malice Ascendant can defeat him.", Dark Rebellion said.
"Roget overhyped them.", Yugo said.
"He-hey, don't get lost in thought now! We have a duel!" , the KOH complained.
"I end my turn.", Yuto said.
"I have Aurora Draw, with the two cards drawn, I first summon Dark Scorpion Cliff the trap Remover (ATK: 1200) and strengthen him with Moon Mirror Shield, when he battles he is now always 100 ATK stronger than you! I attack Dark Rebellion. (The Dark Knight LP: 5000-4900) also I can mill two more cards. (The Dark Knight's Deck: 7-5) Now the Dragon's gone!"
Cliff was surrounded by the light of a golden full moon, created by his shield, blinded Dark Rebellion with it and stabbed him from behind with his knife.
"You should pay some attention, with Phantom Wing, I save my Dragon from destruction", the blinding light dissapeared, with Dark Rebellion being cloaked by a black aura, chasing Cliff away with an angry growl,"and I also activate Jar of Avarice, shuffling 5 cards from my GY back into my deck and drawing one card. (The Dark Knight's Deck: 5-9) and then I activate Trap of Darkness, by paying 1000 Life Points (The Dark Knight LP: 4900-3900) I can repeat that effect (The Dark Knight's Deck: 9-13) "
"Kind of annoying, I'll say, but how practical that you have a Life Points lowering card.", the KOH mumbled sarcastically, "I'll bring your deck back to zero if I have to."
"What do you mean, practical?", I asked.
"Oh, please, you do know the reason, I saw you verifying your skillset, so like the last 3 duels, you have a better version of Storm Access now. Do you want a better version of Dark Rebellion or not?"
"Well, with him attacking your deck instead of your Life, it would eventually come to that decision.", Dark Rebellion said.
"You said you were going first because last time against the 2 and Blue Angel, it wasn't a Speed Duel, so you kind of have to take the risk now.", Yugo said.
"No, that would be a bad idea, Yuto your deck isn't that much worse or any amount worse because it lacks a Pendulum Version of Dark Rebellion. Odd-Eyes has even lost his and isn't really weaker, he's simply not a Pendulum Monster and that doesn't harm my deck as much as you would think.", Yuya said.
"I will take that risk. I draw (The Dark Knight's Deck: 13-12) I destroy your Moon Mirror Shield with Mystical Space Typhoon."
"I'll place it on top of my deck for 500 Life Points (KOH LP: 700-200), that way you might have to play stupid a little longer, since I won't draw a monster besides Cliff for you to crash your monsters into."
"Is he that Insecure, that he needs to explain his moves to his opponent?", Yugo wondered.
"I summon Phantom Knights of Silent Boots (ATK: 200) and change Ancient Cloak into ATK mode (ATK: 800) I attack Cliff the Trap Remover with all of my monsters.(The Dark Knight LP: 3900-2900-2400-2000)"
"And each time two cards of your deck go to the GY. (The Dark Knight's Deck: 12-6)", the KOH said.
"I couuld simply change in and activate Super Storm Access and have you tag in right away, the result can't be that different.", Yuri said.
No, I will have to do this myself. We have to balance each other out and we can't let anyone fall behind in strength Level.
"You'd risk losing to someone like this, for the sake of me getting a new power?", Dark Rebellion asked.
Yes, and I'm sorry it involves you getting destroyed next turn.
"Your turn.", I said to the KOH.
"Obviously Cliff gets back the Moon Mirror Shield and I attack Dark Rebellion, I choose to mill again. (The Dark Knight LP: 2000-1900 Deck: 6-4)"
Dark Rebellion showed Cliff a challenging gesture and Cliff repeated the same motions as last time.
"Back to you. Seriously to think this would actually work. You really don't seem like someone who'd fall for it."
"I once lost a very important battle because I was too weak, not receiving a card from the Data Storm is the bigger risk.", I said.
"...", Dark Rebellion muttered.
"Oh, so it's kinda my fault, I guess?", Ygo asked sheepishly.
"My turn, DRAW! (The Dark Knight's Deck: 4-3) I set two cards.", and immediately went for an Action Card.
"not on my watch!", the KOH yelled and ordered Cliff to ram into me, while taking the Action Card from ist floating sphere.
"Exactly as planned.", I said, "Self-Insert will banish the card at the end of the next turn and deal a 1000 damage if its still in the Hand. Now it's you who has to make an intentional misplay to not lose the duel. Though there is still one Shadow Veil in my GY, so the finishing blow won't come easy for you anyway."
"W-what if I draw a good monster, you still have to take an Action Card on your own in case the traps you set aren't good enough or if there's no other way to get them below 1000 or whatever this skills activation limit is.", the KOH panicked.
"Will you let me take one?", I asked and indeed he didn't protest.
"Hoping my attacks don't fail, however, I activate Takeover Action to steal the card from you.", he said, trying to make a mischivous grin.
"Then I end my turn.", I said.
"They may have the better Action Field, however it is very risky and they never had any real practice in it.", Yuya said, "Unless they have Revolver's ability to manipulate the Data Storm or make it as obscenly unfair as Roget's misplays like These are bound to happen."
"Uh, actually, you are the only one here with real Action Duel experience.", Yugo said.
"Uh, yeah I guess, sorry."
"My turn, draw. I activate my skill, Hurricane Open, adding any card I own from my deck to my Hand. I choose Voltic Kong and summon him (ATK: 1800) I attack with Cliff directly and mill your deck again. (The Dark Knight LP: 1900-700 Deck: 3-1) "
"Now, I could use Shadow Veil to keep that final card in my deck, instead however, I activate Xyz Reborn, reviving Dark Rebellion and attaching it as Overlay Unit."
Dark Rebellion rose from the graveyard Portal, and with a loud and proud roar, he scared the Lightning out of Voltic Kong causing it to run behind its owner.
"I attack anyway and negate it with Avoid, I end my turn.", Voltic Kong pretended to charge at Dark Rebellion only to miss on purpose by a wide margin.
"And I activate my own skill Storm Access Pathways, here I can choose between three options and add one to my deck.", I said.
"Ch, and you had it in the bag already, I mean, time to gather an Action Card-", the KOH said.
Of course he wouldn't take the risk of ramming me of my board while in the storm itself. A huge storm tunnel appeared and I dove right into it. I dodged several Bolts of Lightning and eventually arrived at a crossroads with three cards. Then I found myself in an empty black void with Dark Rebellion.
"I know we could've talked more in the duel, however, I thought it'd be better to save it for here, and not distract you against that fool.", Dark Rebellion started.
"Yes, so, what do you have to say?", I asked.
"Hm, well, we and Odd-Eyes have talked about what we happened in the duel against Severin, and that our revenge against humanity might have been wrong. Clear Wing seems to have doubts in that regard for a while as we heard shortly before the duel against the Sagess.", Dark Rebellion said, "And if Yuya after his loss against the Sagess, was willing to get over his SMILES!-dueling astonishingly quickly, then maybe, we can move on faster as well."
"Is that an apology for being on Zarc's side?", I asked, "And Yuya his dueling isn't on the old level without the entertainment. The fact that his ability to make people have fun, can't be used for great and gigantic things is harming him more than the restriction of Extra Deck Summoning.", I said, "He should adjust to that someday either way, but..."
"I won't say that our quick and radical enlightenment will work without without a hitch. However a factor that in this whole discussion, none of us seemed to consider, was the attack of Leo Akaba on the Xyz Dimension. Humanity did the same thing to each other, because of what we did essentially.
Being caught in a circle of destruction will eventually be worse than being slaves and/clowns/Gladiators or whatever.", he continued.
"It feels as if you were trying to convince yourself. You're not fully on their side, are you?", I asked.
"I don't want to lose my brothers over some different views. If I have to sacrifice my own, I would do it, for them at least.", he said.
"I doubt I understand or comprehend this situation well enough to help. Delaying it would be harmful in many cases, but I think when we have our old life back, only then we can really decide how we deal with this- everyone in one body, your sentience. being in this world is not gonna last forever."
"Then-, no that is also something for another time, I hope we are correct about delaying all of this. However, we will all remember this, do you understand?", he said.
"I do.", I smiled, "So which card should we choose?", I asked.
Three cards stood before us, Dark Anthelion Dragon, a Rank 7 Pendulum/Xyz hybrid, like the other ones, it's versions of Treason Discharge was a quick effect, restored Life Points and made him indestructible for a turn and could get a Treason Discharge while in the Pendulum Zone, then Dark Rebellion Dragon, which only discharged 1000 ATK from an enemies Level 5 or higher Monster and Doom Rebellion CXyz Dragon, a rank 5 like Dark Requiem, which instead of taking away all ATK from one enemy discharged half of all enemy monsters.
"Easy choice here, we already have Dark Requiem, it's power is strong enough to win duels on its own if his attacks aren't blocked and Dark Rebellion Dragon is a weakened form, only better in a very small number of cases. ", I said.
"Yes, no reason to stray from my brother's way.", Dark Rebellion said.
"Alright."
I was back in Link VRAINS, Holding Dark Anthelion Dragon in my Hand and the red pendulum that always symbolically appears, shone a lot brighter than the previous times.
"I summon Phantom Knights Fighting Spirit. I activate his effect, making his own Level 7 and changing Dark Rebellion into a Level 7 Monster."
"You already would have won, now I can Play my Action Card, Exta Fall, I declare Xyz and now every Monster like that, will be destroyed when attacking."
"Doesn't matter, I overly them! Holy Circle on a dark spot of the sun, turn light into Darkness and the enemy's strength into your own! XYZ SUMMON! Come forth, Rank 7, Dark Anthelion Dragon. I activate his effect, draining half the ATK of Voltic Kong and adding them to his own (Voltic Kong ATK: 1800-900 Dark Anthelion Dragon ATK: 3000-3900) and he not only also turns the stolen power into his own, he heals me by that amount (The Dark Knight LP: 700-1600) and creates a protective shield made of this power around himself and cannot be destroyed.
All you did was create a situation where this ability mattered. Dark Anthelion, attack and destroy Voltic Kong!"
"Ts, If only I worried less about the damn thing he got from this skill...", the KOH muttered. (KOH LP: 200-3000)

"Stop Virus activate, no movement until every Knight of Hanoi logged out.", an AI spoke.
"You're lucky it goes both ways, Batman.", the KOH muttered angrily while he kept hovering in the air, Held by a Cage of lightning
I see, that would ensure, that None of their victories is meaningless.
"At least the thing was nice enough to explain itself and hey now we can activate Storm Access Hurricane Open and Whirlwind Gate. And turn the thing against those guys.", Yugo noted.
"You'd expect them to be better equipped against people stealing things back from them. What losers.", Yuri said.
"And hey, can't we log out and back in, so I'll be there with my account. It needs to look like we're separate people if possible, so that we seem a bit more,
'copious' to the bad guys?", Yugo suggested.
"That makes sense, then it's your turn now.", Yuya said.
"Like I'd forget which order we planned!", Yugo said.
POV 4 Go Onizuka
I saw a green and a grey-haired Knight of Hanoi next to a faceless one. I need to rise above Playmaker, snd while some people will despise me for this regardless, I shouldn't act as desperate as everyone of those would accuse me of being. I cannot allow myself to fail.
In other words, while I trust myself to take on more than one enemy, I can't strive for a goal too high up.
"Let the small one duel me.", I said, alerting them of my presence, "You probably needed them to shake of annoying opponents anyways."
Yes, slowly, but surely defeating those that Playmaker has defeated. I will likely duel him this very day, so there is no point adding impatience to my other Problem, At least, that's what I thought that moment.
"Only the minor Knight? Did you know of Playmaker's loss and got cold feet? Because I think not even SOL has seen that duel. Has to be genetic memory or something.", the green-haired one said.
"Playmaker... lost? IMPOSSIBLE!", I shouted.
"Our decks don't benefit that much from any suprise improvement, so we won't activate Storm Access to prove it, however you will see it in Master Revolver's hand, unless you lose before that point of course.", the face-less KOH said.
"No, when this 'Revolver' appeared, Playmaker's female ally had his AI, that is how they must have lost it.", I insisted.

The Knight of Hanoi tried to catch and Action Card floating around in the stream and I did not bother to prevent him from doing so, It would only be a useless drawing card, which with Self-Insert's side effect will be gone just as Droll and Lock Bird's effect expires an Exodia Piece, Sangan, Witch of the Black Forest, another Library or another kind of searcher none of which would make for serious threats in battle against the Goukis.
"I Special Summon the Action Monster, Exodia the Forbidden One, And with both of my monsters, I Link Summon Apprentice Witchling, who boosts himself by 500 right away. (ATK: 1400-1900) You should have checked my Extra Deck size, it's at 5 and not made up of useless cards I showcased just now. And when you defeat him, I get to recover a dark attribute monster from my GY, but I won't stop yet!"
I once more, let him do as he pleased. If I could overcome him with out going all-out, it would bring me a step closer to overcoming my embarassing loss.

This third time was not a charm, but a jinx, as I saw him frowning right away.

I hose the safest way of Picking up Action Cards here, as I can't afford to put my life at risk any more than I am already. I waited for one to appear close to me, steered the board in the right direction and simply picked it up.
"I activate Upstart Goblin, (KOH LP: 4000-5000) I discard Gouki Face Defender to Special Summon Headbatt, its ATK boost effect is irrelevant as I immediately use all of them to summon the Great Ogre. And due to their effects I get three new Gouki Cards. Now I activate my skill Brutal Swing! As a Gouki left the field, I gain the ability to use Pendulum zones in a Speed Duel and I can generate two monsters in them. I choose Gouki Adversary Dark Scyther and Gouki Adversary Technostar, who have the scales of 1 and 8."
Technostar appeared as Gouki Suprex, dressed in an armor of Firewall Dragon's Color with wings similar to his, while Dark Scyther appeared as Riscorpio, carried around a Scythe and was dressed in Robes depicting disturbing imagery.
"They are loosely referencing Cyberse -or my least favorite kind of Music- and HorReapers, one is Playmakers Deck -or my least favorite kind of music- and the other one the HorReaper deck the Girl plays. Geez, I said it as a joke, but the complex is real.", the KOH said, "Also, did you forget that Playmaker was beaten by KingStarveVenom? Clearly he's not that invincible."
"He clearly wasn't exhibiting his full strength at the time. And I'm not just the average rich Attention hog, I'm doing this for the people that took me in when I had nothing. And turning your weaknesses, what harmed you, into a strength is something that everyone should do, but many people fail tragicaly at.
But you don't really care about that, do you?", I responded.
"I mean, I don't care whether you're a rich prick or a decent guy, that's true, but it's kind of crazy to think one popular vigilante would cripple your status as an entertainer. Clearly you're not a 100% selfless about this. And you're kind of not the only one with this problem, uh wait, I said I didn't care! ", he said.

Swingstriker was Great Ogre, dressed in a way more like a circus performer, who did dangerous stunts, like jumping through hoops of fire.
Twist Cobra may not be able to search for a Gouki since he was tributed while in the hand, however, Swingstriker can apply the standard Gouki search effect for every tribute from the hand. He furthermoe prevents you from negating the attack and ending the Battle Phase, though I don't think any of your Action Cards are that, unless they have some protective side effect like One Day of Peace.
Swingstriker also doubles all battle damage dealt by Gouki monsters and as long as I control another, your monsters cannot be unnaffected by card effects."
"Whoever designed that thing wanted to make this as broken as possible without actually making it immune to everything... Oh, wait, you have a card which does that! And it's even selective, so you can play Dark Hole and protect it, but Megamorph or something like that goes through! Being a Link 8 is the only restriction here.", he complained.
"Oh, I won't need Ultimate Ogre here.", I said.
"Also, what happened about holding back against someone who could win any second? Not summoning that Link 8 doesn't count! And why is Swingstar based on the weakest deck of Playmaker's allies?!", he kept complaining.
"Also, since Twist Cobra was sent to the GY, Dark Scyther searches for the second one, and Technostar summons it. (ATK: 1600) I attack your Linkuriboh."
The Knight did go after an Action Card, and tried to soar higher with his board, perhaps hoping the cards there were better to get One Day of Peace or a similar card.
"SH*t only, Royal Magical Library... I take the risk and summon it."
"I keep attacking Linkuriboh with Twist Cobra."
"No choice, but to release it now.", the Knight said.
"I release Twistcobra to boost Swingstriker this turn (ATK: 3000-4600) and add another Gouki card to my hand. I attack Royal Magical Library with Swingstriker."
I wanted to block his path to prevent him from getting an Action Card that would save him, however in a rather cartoonish manner, he utilized apprentice Witchling's Broom, witch also functioned as a cannon to shoot himself past me and hopped back onto his word after it followed him.
"It looked so embarassing and dumb, but it worked, with the Action Card Despair Struggle, my Life Points become a hundred (KOH LP: 5000-100) and I draw one card for every 1000 point of damage it would've inflicted, meaning I draw 9 cards. Ughhhhhhh, you can't be serious?!"
"3 cards left out of 20 cards and still no Exodia, really?", that really was a case of the devil's own luck for me.
"Anyway, you have nothing to attack with left, so end your turn!", he said.
"Have your final one.", I said.

"Oh, and I activate Mind Crush, assuming you have the Head of Exodia in the hand."
"Don't tell me you always have those two cards.", he complained, "But, I will not falter, I activate Trade-In discarding the Toon Dragon from earlier. I set a card and and summon the Left Leg of Exodia and release it to summon The Legendary Exodia Incarnate, he gains 1000 Attack for every piece in the GY
(ATK: ?-2000) I end my turn and with too many cards in my hand I have to discard til I have 5 left of them every part of Exodia, went to the GY, however as Incarnate Exodia wants me to add one to the Hand if I can, Exodia only gains 2000 ATK (ATK: 2000-4000) And since he's immune to everything, he unfortunately does not get a boost from Witchling."

I don't understand what Numen's problem with that card was, at least with its power, it clearly is not awful.

"Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you are too well protected against a Transfer programm.", I said, looking at my duel disk, unless of Course the Virus part has another meaning.
"I also wanna warn ya, that the stronger ones of us have the same dark aura power that created Ultimate Ogreeeee!", the Knight yelled as I rode past him.
If he thinks that is more intimidating than helpful he is wrong. Maybe the right progression would to face a lesser ally of Playmaker next time before I fight him and at least one other.

Having been told what Chihiro looked like online we encountered him very soon. And yadda yadda, a minor KOH prevented us from following him, you saw the other two duels.
I will tell you my VR Looks and our online names, however, since you're probably curious, for Izuku his VR names is Deku and if you google him you'll find him in his hero outfit, and that's even how he was taken by Severin. My name is MaLady (get it because Lady and malady, which means ilness, and I play a Virus deck) and I looked like a ice blue plague doctor (only with adorable little Birdie, instead of the boring regular mask) with a faint pink mask. Names and looks for my counterparts is up to them to describe.
"We'll do it this way. Each of you has only half the usual starting life. A card that counts my enemies cards, counts both of your cards, however it affects only one enemy. Drag-Down split mode, in short.", Mr. KOH said.
"Looks like this platform does have every ruling system for 1 or more vs 2 or more duels one can imagine.", Izuku noted. And yeah, we dueled in quite a few of those while trying to get Izuku's skill Level up to speed.

(MaLady LP: 1200-400) Now a Tremendous Fire on Deku, chaining Poison of the old man on MaLady, and now a Chain Strike on Deku again. "
"Sorry here, I have Action Reward, 1000 lp for each Action Card we got if only all of them had been gathered... (MaLady LP: 400-3400)", I sarcastically sighed.
"And I have Des Reverse, with this card, I gain a fighting spirit to last through this turn, no matter what! I.E any and all damage that would end my duel, heals me until the End Phase"
"You both still take some of the damage, even if I get 500 from my fire!" (MaLady LP: 3400-2600 Deku LP: 2000-1000-2200 KOH LP: 4000-3500)
"Really? We have more than at the beginning, it's more like you only stunted some of our healing.", I said.

The Knight wanted to catch the final Action Card, but Izuku, kept using his superpowers for a move named "Delaware Smash", where he snapped his fingers to blast every card the KOH would've gotten away, by creating shockwaves. As far as I recall he could put either from 5-8 or 100% of his power into his moves with the lower level's not Injuring him or at least not that heavily. And while injuries in VRAINS affect the real body, maybe the fact that this type of superpower doesn't exist in this world prevents the injuries from reall carrying over. I don't have in idea, I'm simply guessing, it's not like any of you could experience anything remotely similar and prove me wrong.
Ahem, so yeah, he could do that apparently. If this world's Yuya likes Action Cards as much as mine (he got over relying on them, though that's not the same as using them less.) he's gonna be in trouble.
"Now, I have it! I activate Sparks, inflicting 200 damage to you. (KOH LP: 3500-3300) Isn't this a field where you can choose all of the cards? Why a card as weak as that?", Izuku asked.
"To be fair, nobody told me that Playmaker's cronies had an alternate Action Field.", he said, "I also activate the card Summon Tax, now whenever any of you summon a monster, you take damage equal to half it's ATK."
"We're not his allies. Yet.", Izuku said.
"Pft, sure, like a mere fanboy of his could bypass the security around this area SOL recently deployed here. Maybe you are from SOL though...", he muttered.
Did Izuku know the KOH would not believe him or did he like me think it would not make a great deal of a difference what Hanoi assumes about our allegiance, and unlike me decided to blurt it out?
"Anyway, I activate Reinforcement for the Army to add Vision Hero Vyon to my hand. I summon him (Deku LP: 2200-1700) and send Faris from my deck to the GY. Then I banish Faris for Vyon's 2nd effect and add Polymerization to my hand. I activate it, to combine Vyon on my field and Increase in my hand!

Heart appeared as a dark pink warrior, wielding to great swords with a vortex, similar to the ones on the back of every card on his chest.
"Eh, that chant's a lot better, not perfect yet though.", I commented.
"Your Summon Tax would damage me again now, however, Heart allows me to negate damage by placing Vision Heroes, with the same or a higher amount of total ATK as Continous Traps in my spell and trap zone, then one hero on my field gains the negated damage as ATK boost. (Vision Hero Heart ATK: 2600-3900) I activate Magical Planter, sending Vyon from by backrow to the GY to draw 2 cards. I set one card and attack directly! Damage Core Strike!"
He unleashed, the laser he absorbed from Summon Tax right back at him, with the beam shaping itself like a small silhouette of Heart as it struck the KOH.
"I activate Battle Break, this destroys your monster and ends the Battle Phase.", the Knight countered, however said beam reversed its course, flew back into Heart, shattering him from the inside.
"Thankfully, I'm still around. I begin by activating Polyaddition, this is a card that allows me to use Spell and Trap cards while Fusion Summoning."
"You have a card with an unusual mechanic like that, which is not among the database and still deny being allies of Playmaker?", the KOH said.
"We never denied wanting to be his allies, merely being that already and we aren't fanboys. I combine Eradicator Epidemic Virus and Deck Devastation Virus into Cold Virus Dragon. (ATK: 2500 MaLady LP: 2600-1350) next, I target him with Big Return, letting him activate his effect twice this turn.
His ability is to destroy anything his material can destroy, as long as I have the tribute on the field, and since EEV Needs his ATK and Attribute as well as destroys both kinds of backrow, I get rid of Summon Tax and your final face-down.", I also don't chant for my summons, when I'm not as nervous and this guy does not seem that tough, only really annoying.
"The other card happens to be Secret Blast, which I activate, you take 300 Points of damage for each card on your field, and with our rulings, your partner's cards will be counted too, so you take 900 Points of damage! (MaLady LP: 1350-450) Oh, and since you destroyed Secret Blast, you also take 1000 Points of damage."
"I chain Call of the Haunted to the first effect, reviving Heart and when its effect in the GY goes of, I defend Blythe by putting Vyon into my backrow. And Heart gets boosted again (ATK: 2600-3600)", Izuku countered.
"Good move.", I said.
"At least Severin made me understand the rules instead of just giving me a rulebook, I probably would have activated Call of the Haunted in response to the GY effect, which wouldn't have allowed me to save you.", Izuku said, trying to be humble.
"I activate Radical Relapse Virus, recovering a Virus card from my GY. I choose Eradicator Epidemic of course. I set it and one other card.
Then I attack directly with Cold Virus Dragon! (KOH LP: 3300-800)"
"I'm not worried, however maybe Revolver and Dr. Kogami will know what 'made to understand as opposed of just giving a rulebook' means exactly.", the KOH said, "though I believe it is connected to CCE."
"So even the members of lower rank know...", Izuku muttered and Severin told us most of the People here would call it CCE instead of D.E.
"They can't beat us or SOL easier because they know your unusual circumstances.", I said a very smug smirk beginning to form on my face, "in fact, what Izuku did via snapping his fingers, had nothing to do with CCE, nor was it some kind of Special modification, it was done with genuine superpowers."
"HAHAHA! I'm gonna tell them that to be safe, but really, don't think you can give us a heap of random and insane lies. There are better ways to distract us. My turn, draw! I activate Aurora Draw-"

The Eradicator Epidemic Skulls spread around the Data Storm racetracks, with the storm intensifying to drive them away, however half still remained.
"Funny, because I have one with a defensive ability. I activate One For All! My monsters lose ATK equal to the damage Darkfire Soldier would inflict. (Vision Hero Heart ATK: 3600-2600) This stays for the rest of the game, however, from now on, while I control monsters, I don't take damage under 1000. SMASH!'", which was Illustrated by him smashing away Darkfire Soldier himself.
"I shouldn't have blindly activated his effect... however, I still have my Thunder of the Ruler to set, and as soon as Deku's Draw Phase Ends, I activate it, so he cannot attack this turn!"
"I normal summon Vision Hero Gravito, I add the banished Faris back to my hand and I release him to Special summon Vyon and Increase from my spell and trap zone. Vyon sends Minimum Ray from my deck to the GY, and Increase brings Multiply Guy from my deck to the field, with Vyon's effect I banish Gravito to add Polymerization to my Hand. I set two cards face-down."
"If only I sill had summon Tax...", the Knight whinced.
"Geez, I didn't think of him as a big threat, but I thought he at least would've had the guts to throw an angry tantrum rather than curl up and cry.", one frame of reference for this metaphor was Shingo Sawatari, but he got better than that in my world.

"My turn, draw.", I said, trying to ignore my embarassment, " I set Full Force Virus and use it as a Link Material for Freezick Alobe, who now summons a Monster that could have been used as a sacrifice for FFV, I choose to summon Freezick Selsaem, since a Virus is infecting you, she gains the ATK or DEF equual to the maximum or minimum ATK or DEF of monsters that are potential sacrifices . With a Minimum requirement of 2500 of Eradicator Epidemic Virus, even if dropped by One for All's drawback she can do a lot of damage, so I waste no time for direct attack! I end my turn after that." (KOH LP: 3800-2300)
I might have done more had I played Iloce, but it's my opponent's choice of which to set and my monster needs defense points for Current Corruption and he's obviously not gonna choose Deck Devastation, however it's gonna be over soon anyways.
"My turn, I drew Needle Ceiling and set it. I end my turn.", since we had over 4 monsters in total, which Needle Ceiling needed to Dark Hole the field, he suddenly stopped moping and was under the delusion of being able to win again.

"Well excuse me, hero, but apparently there's a slight delay.", I said, "Freya, a.n.k.a. (the n stands for now.) McBurn is here for the show! Hm... there's probably better lines for my entrance. How about, I teach you a few things about summoning chants and you teach me some about cool hero lines!"

"Hanoi may give them new decks each time, to compensate for their lack of strength, however these are still not the most fun to watch of duel against.", I said repairing a garden, "Makes it all the more suprising that Blue Angel and SoldatDelEnfere could become rather well-regarded Charisma Duelists."
"Also, ya think Soldat is Machinarex or simply someone with a similar deck?", Kirito said, reconstructing a road.
"SOL would know him calling in replacement and it's likely Hanoi is not aware of what we really can do with CCE, so he might reveal his nature, thinking we cannot spy on him.", I dodged the question , reviving a building far away, wondering if it would knock someone of their D-Board.
"Indeed, I look forwards on giving them a really horrible awakening.", Kirito smiled.

I hope, I could make these fodder fights somewhat entertaining, I thought I should get all of them out of the system in the opening act of this arc. And in case you forgot, my speed duels work with the duel links deck size of 20-30 and they will for the remainder of Arc-VRAINS.
Also, Phantom Knight of Ancient Cloak, works with the IRL effect IRL and Summon Tax was played by Yusei in the duel against Team Unicorn.
And I keep noticing that I used the word Battle a lot in chapter titles...
You were probably wondering why this chapter in past tense, when Curran's Tale is in present and I announced in the new chapter 1 that I would be adjusting the Story, the reason is simple; this chapter was written before this decision and I didn't want to delay it this far.

UnKnownGuy2006: I've accepted the help your offered in your PM and an currently in the process of correcting my older chapters again. Five Headed Link Dragon might appear, but I won't confirm it, depend on how I feel while writing the duels.
PS: As of now Swingstriker only requires a single Gouki for his effect, that will be edited into at least one other when I get to the respective chapter.

If you have 1000 or less Life Points choose one of three cards from the Data Storm and you gain acces to that one.
Brutal Swing
If a "Gouki" Monster leaves the field or destroys another Monster by battle, you gain acces to 2 Pendulum Zones for the rest of the duel, also generate 2 "Gouki"-Pendulum Monsters in them.

When you activate a "Virus" trap, it will take twice as many End Phases to wear off.
One for All
When a "Vision Hero" or "Extra Hero" would deal battle damage, you can increase its ATK by any amount lower than its own ATK, but for the rest of the duel whenever a monster with the same name deals battle damage, your Life Points decrease by half the ATK it gained.
When your would take damage while you control a "Vision Hero" or "Extra Hero", you can reduce the damage to 0, and as Long as you control monsters, all of them lose ATK equal to the damage negated, but you don't take damage lower than the initially negated amount.
