CHAPTER 18: The Light Behind Your Eyes (Fandom: Team Crafted/Minecraft Youtubers)
How did it end up like this? Everything was gone. Even the gods had abandoned this world. After the Maker left, things continued as normal, everything was okay under the Coder. But then the Coder left, little to no explanation, just gone.
Things continued, but Hope was slim. Many of the people became careless and a bit too curious. They broke the Heavens. Well, first they created heavens, disrupting a part of the Darkness. Then they broke the heavens, destroying the Darkness completely. The Darkness was many people's last piece of Hope.
Letters were left for the living to find, graves were dug, and the rest of us were unprepared to grieve. All that was left was the World, and the Red, just like when the Maker was still here. But even the Red started to fail. Gaps were found by explorers, they did not return.
Monsters stopped dying, was it Him? He had not truly been seen since the Maker banished Him. The sky moved backward, People died from nothing, our pets turned on us. The end was coming.
I looked around the land, or what was left of it. The World merged with the Red, but then the Darkness returned and merged with this already forsaken land. There were holes everywhere, leading to Nothing, the cliffs were on fire, the remaining trees and animals were lost.
There was no working food system anymore. You were alone. I am alone in this world. Never meeting anyone on my journey to nowhere in particular. No one wasted their time with rumors of a portal to heaven, the heavens were a lie. The old monsters were no more, now there were creatures, formed from remains, fire, and Nothing.
I was getting tired, I looked for an alcove of any kind to rest in. After finding one, I sat and pondered how things could have gotten this bad. Could it get worse? My thoughts drifted too long ago, to a peaceful time, a time where things were green. My friends… I couldn't recall their names.
There was one, he - she? - wore something on their head, didn't they? Never removed it; always talking of things that were higher than the Heavens. This one was the first to go. They were one of the ones to mess with the Heavens.
There were others, two, that acted like brothers, one was… not normal? The other claimed to be the ruler of something? A game? They were next. Dying at each other's side.
There was another, I seemed to recall, that was also not normal. Were there explosions? And… some kind of seafood? This one didn't make it to see the worlds merging.
The next was - was there something about cake? I couldn't remember. They died from nothing. There were others, there were always others.
One succumbed to the creatures protecting me. Another fell through a gap in the Red, they had been an explorer and scientist. There were two, I had angered them long ago when the Coder was still here, they were probably right to be angry, I always seemed to push people away. I wonder what happened to them?
There was one, no one had seen him since the Maker left, he was a sorcerer if my memory served. Maybe if he returned, he could be our Hope.
There were stories of so many others, heroes, some called them. But they were just like the rest of us, they only got remembered because they weren't here anymore.
A short diddy came to me, 'I'm a carrot dododo! I'm a carrot dododo!'(Author-san cackles sadly at the reference of CarrotBrine.) Another traveler I had met told of this person, who, before everything, had pretended to be the family of Him, but also a carrot. What was the name? I could not remember. Everyone was gone.
A sound came from above me, I looked, a creature. It was one I could not fight, I had to run. So I ran, fleeing for my life as it chased me. I avoided holes, fire, and the difficult terrain as best I could while looking to hide somewhere. There was nowhere to hide.
A yellow glow attracted my attention, was the dark coming up? The cycles of sleep and wake had been skewed greatly. No, it was a building. Something I hadn't seen in many years. I ran for it, the creature hissing and warping behind me. I made it to the doors and burst through, closing them behind me.
"Who are you? There wasn't supposed to be anyone here anymore?" I looked at the voice, "Here, let me secure that, so that thing doesn't get in."
"Who, who are you? What is this place?"
"Me? Name's Hope, and this place is Dollar General."
I sank to my knees, I had found Hope.
(Author-sama will take this moment to apologize for the angst in your crack-fic. Author-san had been going through old stories and found one with a reference to an author on Wattpad, CarrotBrine. When the author's page was found again after an hour of looking, Author-san found out she had abandoned her works and was sad. This was the result. The title is a My Chemical Romance song, it fits, somehow.)
