Season Fifteen, Episode Twenty-One: Post Mortem Blues

When Olivia finally has the hospital room to herself, she immediately pulls out her phone she got back from Nick and dials the first but also last number she should be calling. The person on the other end picks up after two rings, and she swallows back the lump of tears that were forming in her throat.

"B-Brian?"

"Liv? What's wrong, you okay?"

"I uh-it's Lewis. Just-can you come over? Please, I don't want to be alone. I'll be there in ten minutes."

"I'm leaving now." Brian says quickly before hanging up the phone.

"You should drink something. You want us to, uh, call Cassidy?"

"No I, uh, I spoke with him already." Please just go home. Stop asking me questions.

"He coming over?"

"I'm fine, Fin." Yes, he is, but you guys don't need to know that. Please, just leave.

"Well one of us can stay. I don't think you should be alone right now."

"I appreciate it, I think I just-I just need some quiet. I just need to sleep." And Brian. I really need Brian.

Nick and Fin had finally left, despite their protests, and Olivia was just laying on the couch, staring at the ceiling and replaying the events of the last twenty-four hours.

This is the last thing I want you to see before you die.

Say goodbye, Detective Benson.

The tears began flowing now, and she didn't even try to stop them. When she hears the key in the door, that only makes her cry harder.

"Liv?" Brian calls out when he comes through the door and practically runs to her. "Oh my God, Liv, are you okay?"

"Bri…" Olivia says weakly and he leans down to envelop her in his arms. "I'm glad you're here."

The two of them just stay there holding each other for a long time before Brian pulls away and grabs her hand, looking into her sad brown eyes.

"Are you okay? Can I get you anything?"

Olivia sighs and shakes her head, wiping the tears away. "No, I just-can you hold me? Not leave me?"

Brian nods and slides up onto the couch, crawling behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist, kissing the back of her hair.

She never ends up sleeping, she just lays there with him in the quiet, trying to calm herself down as much as she could. As much as she wanted to.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Brian asks softly sometime later, and Olivia just shakes her head sadly. "Olivia…"

She swallows hard and turns in Brian's arms to look at him. "William Lewis is dead. He killed himself right in front of me."

Brian's mouth falls open and he searches Olivia's face for any emotions. "Oh my God, Liv. Are you okay?"

Olivia nods slowly before shaking her head and falling into Brian's arms again. "He got away with murders, rapes, and tortures. He killed himself and now none of his victims get justice. That little girl won't get justice." She cries into his chest again, and Brian's hand comes up to stroke her hair and he kisses the top of her head.

"Shh…it's okay, Liv. It's over now. He's gone and he's not going to hurt anyone else. It's okay, Liv, it's okay."

"He's gone, Bri. He's really gone."

Olivia was right. William Lewis was really gone, and this was all over. Little did she know, though, how much she had yet to face in the aftermath of the death of The Beast.
