T-Trauma
"Somebody help me," Brandon shouts, as he carries his now unconscious wife into the emergency room. "My wife needs a doctor…She's pregnant."
Nurses rush over with a gurney and she is immediately assessed for the severity of the trauma. He wants to hold her hand for reassurance but the hospital is still looking at him as if he's the guilty party. Gina and Owen then rush in and immediately start berating them.
"This man loves her," Gina insists. He would never hurt her."
"He probably saved her life," Owen adds. Brandon just wants her and their baby to live through the trauma.
"baby, I love you…Don't you dare check out on me," Brandon whispers as he kisses her head and the doctors lead her away.
"Brandon, "Gina cried, "What happened? "
"Who did this to her," Owen adds?
"The only person who would ever want to hurt her is…"
"Dan," Gina and Owen guessed.
"I went out to get her more pickles and Ice-cream," he said, as Gina and Owen crunched their noses in disgust. "And when I returned, I found her in a puddle of her own blood. She was in and out of consciousness the whole way over and the only
thing she was concerned about is our baby…If…God, if she loses our daughter…"
"She's not going to lose her," Gina soothed, as she pulled Brandon in for a hug. "You just got married. She's finally happy."
It was then when Van walked in and Brandon told him he was glad to see him. "Your mother loves you Van. No matter what you did or didn't do, she'd be so happy to see you."
He was about to ask them how she was when the doctor walked back in.
"Your wife has a severe placenta abruption caused by the repeated blows to her abdomen. We're going to have to do a C-section immediately."
"But, It's too early," Brandon questioned. "She's only six months along doctor. How can our baby survive being born this early?"
"It's her only chance of survival. If we do not deliver now, the placenta can tear even more and the baby will not survive long if she is not getting any oxygen. The baby also has a higher risk of being stillborn."
Brandon could not even think straight right now, so Gina explained what the doctors needed to him and he signed the papers. He was worried about his wife and daughter...so unbelievably worried.
"If I ever get my hands on that son of a bitch, I'm going to kill him," Brandon threatened as his anger rose to the surface. "Who gives him the right to put his hands on her like that…to treat her like a fucking animal…?"
"Come on Brandon," Owen urged, "Let's go to the chapel. My aunt needs you to calm down. She needs your love and your strength. Don't do anything that will take you away from her"
He knew this was true but he did not know how to keep his anger in check. He would nevertolerate anyone hurting the woman he loves…not as long as there was still a breath in him.
As Owen and Brandon walked away, Gina turned to Van. He was her cousin and she loved him but right now, she wanted to strangle him.
"How could you miss her wedding Van? I know you have your issues with Brandon but she's your mother…she didn't deserve that kind of treatment."
"I know," Van admitted. "I know I acted like an idiot and I'm sorry. It might not count for much but I'm here now."
"Don't you ever let her down again; if you do, I'll kick your ass."
"You would wouldn't you?"
"Damn straight I would."
Not another word was said as they too prayed for a miracle.
