Recap: Suddenly the thought of being hit by her parents wasn't so scary anymore. These things around them gave her a whole new meaning of fear.
For a moment nobody said anything before Riddick finally stood up again. "I only see one way," he said and motioned with his hand in front of him "That way. It's the only way off this rock. Just keep the girl between you," he ordered.
Luna bit her lip as she tightened her hand around Jack's shoulders. Jack swallowed thickly. The thought of dozens of those things being in the canyon around them, frightened her.
Riddick walked through the group towards the back. "What about the cells?" asked Imam.
"I'll take those," he said which made everyone glance back at him. Luna gave him a worried look as he turned to them and pulled his goggles down.
"Are you going to be alright?" she couldn't help but ask. In the back of her mind she remembered Fry asking about the same thing.
"Move!" he roared and started pulling the cells.
Everyone started running while Luna started limp-jogging as fast as she could. At the same time she tried to ignore the stabs of pain that went through her ankle with each step.
Blade was at the front and guided the others through.
The trek through the canyon went smoothly for the moment. Luna knew what was coming when they arrived by the bend. Not thinking, she pointed "Look out!" just when a large swarm of baby creatures flew straight at them.
Blade held up his torch high just like the others did. They all did it instinctively.
The swarm screeched and shrieked as it split apart in V-formation as they flew around and past them. Luna gasped and ducked when some creatures flew straight at her face. Some of them were on fire, others not.
Unfortunately the swarm was so large and thick that it slowed the group down. Jack whimpered at being surrounded by them and shifted closer to Luna.
Sensing her distress, she squeezed her shoulder reassuringly.
Luna glanced back and saw Riddick dodging flying creatures left and right that flew straight at his face. She looked back in front of her and let out a yelp when a burning little creature flew almost in her face. At the last moment she dodged it.
'Wow! Just in time. Better keep focused or I'll end up with one of those creatures in my face.' she thought and gasped when another one flew right at her head. She ducked her head on instinct and felt it gently graze her hair.
All of a sudden she felt something fall on her head. She brought her free arm up to the spot and came back with blue fingers. "Blood," she mumbled and knew what was happening above them.
"Don't look up!" roared Blade loudly. On impulse of the words, Luna still looked up and gasped. There were dozens upon dozens of bioraptors up in the air attacking one another.
"Do not look up!" roared Riddick this time, which brought her back to focus and she looked down again.
The group tried to continue on but it was difficult with the blood falling around them. Luna glanced back and was just in time to see Riddick slip as he tried to pull the cells.
She wanted to help him so badly but knew she was useless with her bad ankle and arm. The thought that she was of no use stung and she remembered her fathers words, telling her that she was useless and all.
Something thick suddenly fell on top of her head and brought her back out of her short memory trip.
She felt it shift a bit and grabbed it. Her face scrunched up when she saw that it was a piece of intestines.
"Eww!" she yelped and dropped the thing. She looked in front of her just when another piece fell down, inches from her face.
Her eye twitched at the sight and she quickly pulled Jack to try and move faster.
She slipped over a small puddle of blood and almost fell, pulling Jack almost with her. The girl had luckily managed to catch most of her weight just in time and managed to keep her upright.
"Thanks," muttered Luna and got a nod in return. She glanced down and saw Jack's eyes flash from one place to another.
"Keep moving!" she heard Riddick roar, before she felt him give her and Jack a rough push, making them stumble to their knees.
In the place where they had stood lay a large bioraptor, twitching as it died.
Her eyes widened at the sight of it before she felt Jack pull on her arm, forgetting for a moment it was her wounded arm. Hissing in pain, she heard Jack mutter an apology before she helped her upright again.
They started walking as fast as her leg permitted and they quickly joined the rest of the group again. She heard a faint grunt behind her and saw Riddick fall before he quickly scrambled back to his feet again.
'He really doesn't know the word quit, does he?' she thought absently as she watched his muscles strain and bulge with his efforts. She shook her head and looked forward again.
She saw Blade moving and her eyes glanced down to his ass for a moment. Unfortunately his cloak blocked her vision and she pouted for a second. "Come on!" she heard said Jack suddenly and felt her pull on her waist, having wrapped an arm around her to keep her more steady.
The group went around another bend and came face to face with a large obstruction. The bones that Shazza hit earlier today with her Sandcat. Blade stared at it for a moment before he quickly started moving the bones out of the way.
"Come on! Help me move these things!" he ordered loudly. Imam and Suleiman had been staring at the bones for a moment before Blade's words brought them out of their musings.
Jack quickly let go of Luna and went to help. Feeling once again useless, she watched as Riddick passed her by and quickly helped them move the bones.
Her mind went to the movie and she knew two things would happen any moment now; Suleiman would be wounded on his ankle like her and Jack would be attacked. Her eyes narrowed at the last part and she mentally prepared herself to help her when the moment came.
Riddick successfully moved through and Blade quickly followed along with Jack. Luna hopped over and shuffled under the bones after them. Just when Suleiman went to pass under it, a bioraptor that lay next to them on a bone, grabbed his ankle.
He started shouting in Arabic and Imam quickly tried to pull him free. Luna gritted her teeth and glanced back at the duo. She wished to help them but knew the boy would be okay for now and that Jack was more important right now. Steeling herself, she limped towards Jack.
"Riddick! Blade! Wait!" yelled Jack but the two kept going. Luna watched Riddick as he gave some rope to Blade and together they started pulling.
"Blade! Riddick!" cried Luna, her heart skipped a beat in fear that they would be gone too fast.
"Riddick! Blade!" called Jack again but the duo kept ignoring them.
All of a sudden they heard a creature wailing and Luna knew what was going to happen. Thinking quickly, she ignored the pain that stabbed through her leg and jog-hopped over to Jack and pushed her roughly to the ground.
Jack cried out in surprise just as the wailing grew louder. Luna looked up and saw a bioraptor coming her way. She jumped towards the nearest bone and ducked under it.
The creature violently landed on top of it and broke it. Luna let out a cry of surprise as the bone fell down and forcibly pushed her to the ground.
"Riddick!" she heard Jack cry. Looking up, she flinched when the bioraptor hit the bone and made it bob continuously with each hit.
She gritted her teeth for a moment. "Riddick! Blade! Help me! Please!" she cried loudly and hoped to God that they would come. She let out another cry and shut her eyes when a piece of bone fell down next to her face.
She knew the duo was hesitating and only needed a push. "Please! Blade! Riddick! Help me!" she cried again as she felt fear course through her. The thought that maybe the duo would leave her to her fate frightened her. "Please!" she cried again and let out a whimper when another piece of the bone fell and landed next to her head.
She risked looking up and saw that a hole was in the middle of the bone above her head. A few more hits and it would be through. "Help me!" she cried, her voice became higher pitched when another piece broke off.
All of a sudden she heard Riddick let out a war-cry and he charged towards the bone where the creature was. The creature quickly turned to him and attacked him.
Luna immediately crawled from under the bone where Riddick was and watched in awe as he had grabbed the bioraptor by its two claws and held it at arms length.
"Luna!" she heard Jack cry as she ran around the bone and came up next to her. She ignored her and her own heart that was hammering in her chest. Her gaze was fixated on Riddick and the raptor as it tried to bite his head off before rearing its head back as far as possible for a final attack.
Riddick took that moment and pulled out his shiv and at the same time transferred the creatures claws to his other hand. Releasing it, he whirled around and sliced at the thing's belly. It squealed in pain, but he wasn't done yet. He stabbed the creature and then whirled around again and sliced it as he came back around. The creature squealed with each hit before it fell backwards on its back.
Luna faintly heard Jack asking her questions, but her mind was completely focused on Riddick. The man calmly walked up to the creature, grabbed its head and twisted it violently, breaking its neck.
He then stood back up straight and stared down at it. "Did not know who it was fuckin' with" he grumbled darkly.
Luna felt her heart skip a beat at those words. "So cool," she whispered softly which he heard and snapped his head up and stared straight in her eyes.
For a second she was caught by his mesmerizing eyes again but a wail from a nearby creature broke the spell almost as soon as it started.
Blade walked up to her and without any warning, he suddenly lifted her up in his arms and over his shoulder.
She gasped at the sudden action and winced when his shoulder dug painfully in the wounds on her side. He gave her no time to get accustomed to the feeling as he started walking quickly, followed by the others.
"You okay Luna?" asked Jack when she saw her face.
'I feel like a sack of potatoes.' she thought and grimaced when she felt his shoulder dig painfully in her stomach also. "Yeah… fine." she mumbled softly.
At least this way, she could think a bit without worrying that she would slow the others down.
'Okay, let's see, Jack was… well, I was just attacked by a raptor and Suleiman got his leg hurt. That means it should start raining any second now. Which also means that the cave is nearby.' she frowned at the last part. She didn't want to be left behind. Especially not with those things around. 'I hope I can persuade them to take us along to the skiff.' she thought worriedly before she frowned even deeper. 'There's something I'm forgetting here but what?' she thought and wondered about it but couldn't grasp it.
All of a sudden she heard Suleiman cry out and Jack and Imam stopped to get him up. Something wet hit her arm then. Blinking, she looked up as far as she could and gasped. "Rain," she whispered softly as Blade came to a halt along with the others.
Without warning they all heard sudden laughter. It was loud and mocking and Luna knew instantly that it was Riddick.
The laughter stopped as quickly as it had begun. "So where the hell's your God now?" asked Riddick tauntingly, but she could hear the hidden bite in his words.
The rain started quickly pouring out of the sky and Blade set Luna down. She stumbled slightly before she managed to catch herself. She had to admit, even though the rain came at a bad timing, it was also a blessing. God knew how much she needed some cooling right now.
Even when the planet was covered in darkness, it was still hot outside. 'It will probably take a while before the planet cools off,' she thought and saw everyone going to the side and tried to take cover under a protruding ledge of rock.
She ignored them huddling under it and lifted her head up and opened her mouth. Who knew how long it would be before she got some water in her body. This was as fresh as it got. She didn't know for sure if there were bottles on board of the skiff but it couldn't hurt to drink a bit now.
Once she got some water down her throat she went over to the others and huddled under the ledge. Her gaze quickly drifted around in search for Blade or Riddick. She saw Blade's cloak just disappear upwards as he jumped on the ledge above their heads.
She knew what was going to happen now. They would leave them. A deep frown came on her face. 'Not if I can help it!' she thought, determined, but wasn't sure how to stop them. She was wounded and smaller than them, not to mention weaker. If she wanted to stop them it would probably be with words instead of deeds.
Her mind wandered to the skiff. She knew they were close but didn't know how close. "Riddick! Blade!" she called as she stepped back from under the ledge a bit to see them. They didn't glance down at her to show that they heard her. "Are we close?" she asked, remembering from the movie that Fry asked that question.
'Since Fry's not here to ask, then I will.' she thought as a pang of sadness at the memory of the woman shot through her. Though she wasn't sure if they could make it with all of them or not. "Can we make it?" she questioned further.
"We can't," she heard Blade say just loud enough for her to hear. She cursed and tried to ignore her mind as something screamed at her in the back of her head that there was something she was forgetting.
All of a sudden she saw Suleiman being pulled upwards. Her eyes shot towards him just in time to see him disappear upwards into the darkness. 'That was it! I totally forgot that he was going to die here! No!' she thought and mentally kicked herself.
"Stupid." she hissed to herself and slapped her forehead. Although she had not spoken to him or really noticed him, she was still sad he was gone. Imam started yelling in Arabic as Jack whirled around, suddenly paranoid that another creature would sneak up on them.
She felt her eyes burn and knew she was crying. Tears of sadness, despair and exhaustion rolled down her cheeks. 'I'm so tired of all this dying! I just wanna go home!' she thought and whimpered softly as she sniffled. All the deaths and bloodshed around her had finally claimed its toll on her.
She didn't care if a beating was waiting for her if she ever went home again, she just wanted to be away from this wretched place. "I just wanna go home," she whispered softly to herself as homesickness struck her hard.
"Hide here! Now!" ordered Riddick suddenly, bringing her out of her thoughts.
Blinking the tears and rain out of her eyes, she saw Riddick rolling a rock away and revealed a small cleft in the rock wall. Jack wasted no time and went towards the cave and entered it. Imam followed languidly as he hung his shoulders in sadness of losing his last child.
Luna knew what was going to happen next and pushed her sadness and homesickness as far away as she could. She limped over to them and Blade lifted her up the ledge and waited for her to go inside. She frowned and stopped right in front of the entrance and turned to Riddick.
