Chapter Twenty: ThatchxMarco's Sixth Year Anniversary

LuffyGirl here.

This chapter is LONG. VERY LONG. (If you've read and/or written something longer then good for you but this is still very long to me) It's twenty-one pages without the AN's so unless you have the proper time, I suggest you wait until you do to read this. Seriously.

Also, I completely forgot about Luffy's birthday while writing this. I remembered when I was halfway through and was going to change a few things but it would have messed up the chapter so I left it as it is. So for the sake of this chapter, let's pretend this is on a different day or… something :P

I am not a pro about massages. I only got one massage in my life so far so if ain't accurate whoops at least I tried by doing some research.

I am definitely NOT A PRO when it comes to five star dining and I did a shit ton of research for it so hopefully it's at least somewhat accurate. I looked up SO MUCH. Also, I'm not rich so clearly I've never been to a five star restaurant.

I also want to say HUGE THANK YOU TO TRAY D. SHEILA who allowed me permission to use the names 'Didi' and 'Sheila' in my story. 'Didi' simply being a nickname and 'Sheila' being one of her many OC's. If you like MarcoxThatch a.k.a MaTch then go read and review her 'MaTch' stories ^-^ Her story 'Forever Together' is also a great read :D

Also, the name Veve used here is my nickname :P

A~nd… Whatever else I forgot to mention will be at the bottom. Later!

Summary: There is no summary. But there's always a beginning, a middle and an ending.

Thatch woke up with a stretch and looked at the time which was almost eight o'clock. He then turned towards Marco who was still asleep. Thatch loved how his lover looked when he slept. So peaceful, stress free and cute. O.k, Marco always looked cute but the other two were a bonus.

Thatch leaned closer and softly kissed Marco on the lips making said person move a bit but not waking up. Thatch pulled away and then began teasing Marco by poking him.

"Marco~. Time to wake u~p."

Said person mumbled something but remained asleep.

"Wake up sleepy head." Thatch teased playfully. "We have to be ready by eleven."

When Marco didn't react, Thatch began to tickle his neck softly.

Marco flinched a little and mumbled something again making Thatch smile.

"Come on, Marco~. It's a special day toda~y."

"Taco Tuesday?" Marco asked still half asleep but moved Thatch's hand away.

Thatch chuckled. "Well, today is Tuesday but ironically has nothing to do with tacos. It's our six year anniversary!" He then continued to tickle Marco who now flinched more. "Now get up!"

Marco had no choice but to move and was now partially awake. "Must you awake me so abruptly?" He asked but was smiling.

"Yes. We need to be ready by eleven and we still need to eat breakfast."

"What time is it?"

"Just after eight by now."

"Hm… Seems like plenty of time to get ready with you."

Before Thatch could say something, Marco was suddenly on top of him pinning him down.

"But since you teased me for a bit I'll tease you for a bit." Marco winked making a surprised Thatch blush. Marco leaned in for a kiss which Thatch accepted. Marco ran a hand on his lover's chest and then his stomach. "Perhaps I should tickle you now." He whispered.

Marco was caught off guard when Thatch suddenly rolled over causing Marco to lay on the bed and pinned him.

"Nah. I like hearing you laugh more." Thatch teased as he began to tickle Marco again making him laugh.

Seconds later, Marco managed to roll over and was now back on top of Thatch but Thatch quickly moved Marco back on the bed and tickled him again.

"Damnit, Thatch!" Marco laughed.

"You need to laugh more than I do!" Thatch teased playfully.

"O.k! HAHA! I'm…! I'm laugh- HAHAHA!"

Thatch smiled happily at his boyfriend. He really wished he heard Marco laugh like this more often. Thatch then stopped giving Marco a chance to breathe.

"You- haha… You really love… tickling me to death… don't you?" Marco laughed a little catching his breath.

"Yes. But if it wasn't possible to die from laughter, I'd tickle you more often."

"Then I'd run from you more often."

"Then I'd chase you more often."

"For how long and how far?"

"Till the end of time and to the ends of the earth."

Marco rolled over and was now back on top of Thatch once more.

'You have no idea how many times I would do the same for you.' Marco smiled and then kissed Thatch again and ran a hand through his hair.

Thatch accepted the gesture and deepened the kiss and put a hand on his lover's chest. He then hugged Marco closer and rolled over which said person allowed this time and then-

THUD!

"Shit! Marco, are you o.k?! I'm so sorry!" Thatch said as he quickly got off Marco who now laid on the floor in pain.

"Yeah. I'm… O.k. Kind of." He answered as he slowly sat up. "That hurt like hell." Marco rubbed his back a little. "That was revenge from when you fell off last time wasn't it?"

"Now that you mention it… Maybe." Thatch teased.

"At least we're getting massages today." 'I could definitely use one now.'

"Not if we keep sitting here." Thatch then grabbed Marco and lifted him up which surprised said person. Usually Marco was the one who lifted Thatch. "Let's go enjoy a shower together shall we?" Thatch winked as he carried a blushing Marco out the room.

XXX

About an hour later, Marco and Thatch went downstairs to the kitchen to see that breakfast was already made.

"Surprise!" Ace said with Whitebeard and Haruta by his side. "We made you guys breakfast!"

"Happy six year anniversary you two love birds!" Haruta cheered.

"When I said you two didn't have to do anything today, I meant it." Whitebeard said going up to them and hugged them both. "Happy six year anniversary my sons."

Marco and Thatch returned the hug and then insisted that Oyaji, Ace and Haruta stay but the three of them went outside declaring they had 'something to do'.

"Wow, they made quite a lot." Marco said looking over the food. "Guess we won't be having lunch."

"That seems like the plan. I wonder where we're going to eat dinner at later." Thatch wondered. "Hey, Marco look chocolate chip-"

"Yeah, skipping lunch is fine." Marco interrupted as he took five pancakes and left one for Thatch. "Finally, something chocolate for breakfast." He said to himself but Thatch heard him who looked at Marco with a smile. "… What?"

Thatch chuckled. "Nothing."

XXX

After breakfast, Marco and Thatch went outside to find Haruta and Ace waiting for them.

"Your chariot awaits you." They both said with a bow as if the couple were royalty.

Marco and Thatch went up to Oyaji and the car that awaited them.

"And where are we headed today?" Whitebeard asked playfully despite knowing where he was taking them.

"Um… Surprise us?" Marco answered just to answer while Thatch just laughed.

"As you wish." Whitebeard said as Marco and Thatch entered the back seat of the car and then closed the door.

Without being noticed by the lovebirds, Ace and Haruta left to help out with something for later.

XXX

"We have arrived at your surprise destination." Whitebeard said as if he were an actual chauffeur.

"Whoa, wait what?" Thatch said surprised when he saw the name of the spa. "Marco, look!"

"New World Spa?! Oyaji, isn't this-"

They didn't realize that he left the car to open the door for them and jumped a bit when it was opened.

"Oyaji, isn't this-"

"You guys may take as long as you like but I highly recommend you finish up at three or four the latest. Your dinner reservations are for six o'clock and you must be there on time." Their father informed. "Call me when you guys are ready to leave. Have fun and enjoy."

Before Marco and Thatch could say or ask anything, Whitebeard left in the car.

It was quiet for a few seconds before the couple turned to the spa.

"Marco?"

"Yeah?"

"We're gonna have to get Oyaji some very good sake."

"I know."

After taking another minute to admire the outside of the spa, they finally went in and were greeted by two people.

"Hello, you two must be Thatch and Marco Newgate."

"Yes, we are." Marco answered for them both while Thatch was looking around in awe.

"I'm Didi and this is Veve. We'll both be taking care of you today. You also don't have to worry about paying for anything as everything was paid in advance."

"It was?"

"Yes. Your father insisted that you two have everything you need and want."

"You also have the whole spa for yourselves." Veve added.

"We do?"

"Marco, don't question it." Thatch half whispered.

"He also told us that it's your anniversary?" Veve asked to make sure.

Marco blushed a little. "Uh, yeah. Thatch and I have been together for six years today."

"We know. Your father spoke very highly of you two. From what he told us, you two make a very good couple." Didi said with a knowing smile.

Thatch decided to butt in at that moment and he was lucky today was there anniversary because what he said made Marco want to throttle him.

"You could say we're a perfect MaTch." He said with a wink making the two girls laugh a little.

However, Marco's embarrassment won and he blushed even more instead of wanting to throttle his lover.

"So what would you two like to start with?" Didi asked.

"I… have no idea." Thatch answered unsure.

"Everything." Marco said mostly to himself but everyone heard him anyway.

How were they supposed to choose? This place was huge! And beautiful. Are those plants real?

"We highly recommend that you both start with a relaxing massage and facial." Veve spoke.

"That would be great."

XXX

Marco couldn't remember the last time he had a massage and facial (actually, now he was pretty sure that he never had one before today) but made a mental note to get one more often.

It was fantastic.

His back no longer hurt, he no longer felt stressed and more importantly, he felt relaxed.

Very relaxed.

Even his mind and thoughts felt relaxed.

Next thing Marco knew, he fell asleep.

XXX

Thatch was positive that neither one of them ever had a massage and facial but made a mental note for them to get one more often. Even if it was every two or three months or just once a year. It was definitely something they both needed and it felt fantastic.

Thatch no longer felt stressed, his mind and thoughts were finally cleared and more importantly, he felt relaxed.

Very relaxed.

Next thing Thatch knew, he fell asleep.

XXX

Marco and Thatch had no idea how much time passed when they were woken up by Veve and Didi but they could've stayed there all day. Well, they can but they did have dinner later so they couldn't.

Marco and Thatch tiredly got up from their spots and they both felt really light and relaxed.

"That was fantastic." Marco said as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"It sure was. I could stay here forever." Thatch said as he stretched a little.

Marco then got up from the spa chair but underestimated how high it was and tripped. Didi and Veve gave him a hand while Thatch laughed.

"Looks like your too relaxed!" He laughed.

"I didn't know the chair was this high!" Marco laughed as well. He was too relaxed to scold and thanked Didi and Veve for the helping hand.

"We do have a steam room for you two to relax in." Didi informed.

"It's perfect for couples." Veve added.

"What?" Marco asked not sure if he heard right.

"It's perfect if you still want to relax after the massage." Veve said. "It's right this way."

XXX

"I still can't believe Oyaji managed to do this." Marco said as he sat next to Thatch.

"We owe him big time."

"By the way, something tells me that those girls like us as a couple."

"What makes you say that?"

"Just a feeling."

"Is it because they kept asking us questions? They were just making small talk."

"I know."

"Plus, we are indeed a couple and it's not like they're writing any of this down and making stories or something."

Marco chuckled and then leaned on Thatch. "This is wonderful. I wish we could do this all the time."

Thatch smiled and put an arm around Marco. "Me to."

XXX

Marco and Thatch spent a well-deserved three hours at the spa before calling Whitebeard to pick them up.

"We hope you two had a great time here." Veve said.

"We had a wonderful time." Thatch told her.

"We also hope you two have a great anniversary." Didi added.

"Thank you. We're going out for dinner later so our day isn't over yet."

"Oh? Where at if you don't mind me asking."

"Uh, we actually don't know because our father planned the day." Thatch admitted feeling a little embarrassed.

"I think I have a pretty good idea." Veve said with a knowing smile although it was more directed towards Marco who was a little confused.

"Um… So thank you both for the wonderful massage and… everything else." He said feeling a little awkward. "Here's-"

"You don't have to give us a tip. Your father took care of everything."

"I think you two both deserve at least a little bonus. Besides, that was our first and best massage we've ever had."

"Plus by two pretty girls no less." Thatch added with a wink.

"Careful, you wouldn't want to make your boyfriend jealous." Didi said as she and Veve accepted the extra tip.

"Yeah, Thatch." Marco teased but he was secretly a little jealous. Just a little!

The couple then saw Oyaji outside in the car and said there thanks and goodbyes to Didi and Veve.

"They were both hot." Didi said.

"Yes but Marco is compensating about something." Veve said as she walked away making Didi look at her in question.

XXX

"So how was it?" Whitebeard asked as he drove.

"We both fell asleep during the massage and Marco nearly fell off the chair cuz he was so relaxed." Thatch laughed.

"Thatch, he doesn't need to know that part!" Marco laughed as well and hit him playfully on the shoulder.

"Other than that, it was fantastic! Thank you, Oyaji!"

"Yeah, it was wonderful. Thank you, Oyaji."

Said father smiled feeling happy for both of his sons. He was very glad they had a great time and one much well deserved. "You're welcome my sons."

XXX

"Um… Where exactly are we going to eat at?" Thatch asked when he saw the fancy tuxedo and the tie that already mocked him. Last time he tried to tie a tie Marco had to help him.

"A place." Izo answered. "Now put it on so I can see if it fits you."

"Is Marco wearing a tuxedo to?"

"Yes."

"Fine, I'll put it on. But you're tying this tie."

"Someone else can do that for you." Izo said as he left.

"Hey, get back here!"

"I'll be waiti~ng!"

XXX

"Where are we eating at that I need to wear this?" Marco asked curiously when he saw the tuxedo. He didn't mind wearing one but why did he have to dress so fancy?

"A place." Ace answered. "If it makes you feel better, Thatch has to wear one to."

"Really? I'm surprised you guys didn't force it on him."

"Well, I currently don't hear any yelling so that means Thatch complied."

"That's a first." Marco knew Thatch wasn't one to wear fancy clothes unless it was absolutely necessary. "Although, he did wear one a few years ago cuz I made him wear it."

"You made him wear a tuxedo?"

"I wanted to see how he looked." Marco blushed. "He wasn't able to tie the tie though so I…" Marco stopped himself and then cleared his throat. "Never mind. Anyway, then we both wore one for our first anniversary. Although, this one looks more fancier than what we wore."

"That's because you guys are actually going to a restaurant."

"Thatch, did you have a damn war with the tie like what the hell?!" They heard Izo scold.

Marco and Ace looked at each other and then laughed.

XXX

"And that's how you tie a tie." Whitebeard instructed as he watched his son do what he was told. However, Whitebeard couldn't help but fix it a little.

"Thanks, Oyaji." Thatch said feeling embarrassed but happy he finally tied a tie.

XXX

After about an hour, (mostly because of Thatch's tie incident) Marco and Thatch were finally ready and able to see each other.

Thatch froze when he saw Marco in a beautiful royal blue tuxedo and dress pants with black dress shoes and a silver tie. The color of the tuxedo made Marco's eyes stand out making Thatch stare at them longer than he intended. He then noticed Marco's hair and couldn't help but chuckle at the now neat top patch of hair. Thatch was positive that Izo did his hair.

Marco froze as well when he saw Thatch in a beautiful silver tuxedo and dress pants with black dress shoes and a royal blue tie. Marco decided that Thatch looked even better in silver than in gray. He then noticed Thatch's hair was neater than it was earlier (said person left it down all day) and for some reason, it looked a little longer.

Meanwhile, Ace and Whitebeard were taking pictures of the shocked couple.

After about a minute, Izo spoke. "You guys still alive there?"

Marco and Thatch snapped out of their trance and spoke at the same time while still staring at each other.

"You look wonderful."

"You look beautiful."

"Now kiss." Whitebeard said making Izo and Ace laugh while Marco and Thatch blushed.

"Oyaji!" They both said blushing but surprised their father said that.

After a few pictures (o.k, it was more than a few and most of them were taken by Whitebeard), Marco and Thatch were led back to the car and were soon headed to their mystery destination.

XXX

"We have arrived at your surprise dinner destination." Whitebeard said as he drove up to the restaurant.

Marco and Thatch were so speechless that they didn't even notice Whitebeard get out the car and open there door.

"You may exit the car now."

Marco and Thatch did so but hardly took their eyes off the restaurant and the name of it.

New World Restaurant.

Now they both felt kind of dumb for not figuring it out before. New World Spa. New World Restaurant. No wonder those two ladies seemed to know where they were going to eat at. Both places were obviously owned by the same person and both places have five stars!

"I've been wanting to go here forever~~." Thatch half-whispered in surprise and already trying to decide what he wanted.

"They have over twenty chocolate desserts." Marco said trying to imagine what they were and how there was so many.

"You kids have fun now." Whitebeard teased a bit with a smile. "Call me when you're finished." He then went back to the car and took off before they could even blink.

"Marco?"

"I know."

They're really gonna have to return the favor to Oyaji and Ace and whoever else helped out.

XXX

After admiring the outside of the restaurant, Marco and Thatch finally went inside and couldn't believe their eyes.

The restaurant was absolutely beautiful. And definitely bigger once you were inside.

The walls were a lovely light brown giving the place a homey feeling and had fancy artwork on each wall but not enough to make it look over decorated. There were mini chandeliers at every two tables which were covered in white tablecloths. Each table also had a mini candle in the center and some had four chairs while other tables had two or even eight or more chairs at the bigger tables.

To the left there was a huge bar with what looked like a thousand different kinds of drinks and behind said bar was the kitchen with an open window.

Thatch greatly resisted the urge to run over there and watch.

Next to the bar was a huge dessert display with what looked like over hundreds of different kinds of desserts.

Marco immediately saw the huge chocolate cake that was calling his name and greatly resisted the urge to run over there and stare at it through the glass like a kid in a candy store.

"Names please." Someone said making the couple jump a little. How long were they standing there just staring at everything?

"Uh, Marco and Thatch Newgate." Marco answered for them both.

"Ah, the anniversary date. Right this way please."

Marco and Thatch blushed a little when the host said that and then followed them to where there seat was.

Wait, were they going upstairs? There's two floors?!

However, they went up another flight of stairs and soon they were on the rooftop.

O.k, Marco and Thatch were definitely not expecting for this place to be so big.

At least there were other people here and they weren't the only ones. They didn't mind and at least it wouldn't be too quiet with just the two of them.

"Here is your table and your menus and your sever will be right with you. I hope the experience here is to your liking."

Marco and Thatch thanked the host and then looked around taking everything in.

Their table was in the corner which they were both happy about as they did want their privacy.

Of course there weren't any walls as they were on the roof but there was a lovely white fence that had an array of flowers along the top and lights spread out on said fence. There were a few flower bushes and fancy looking lamps at each roof floor corner and the tables had the same white tablecloths each with a candle in the center. The chairs were also very comfortable.

Good thing it was nice out tonight.

"Hello and welcome to-"

Marco and Thatch both jumped causing the server to jump which then made the couple laugh and soon the waitress laughed as well.

"Sorry about that." She apologized.

"It's o.k." Marco laughed. "We were just admiring the décor."

"Ah, so it's both of your first time here. Welcome to New World Restaurant, my name is Sheila. Can I start you guys off with something to drink?"

"Can we just get one of everything?" Thatch half joked but was a little serious. He had no idea what he wanted because he did want to try everything!

"Actually, your father already paid for your ten course meal in advance."

"… What?"

"Wait, you said… Ten?" Marco asked completely shocked. "Like… Six or seven or whatever it is courses more?"

Marco was shocked by the number of courses while Thatch was trying to figure out what to be surprised more of. The fact that there really is ten courses (which he knew but forgot to tell Marco whoops) or the fact that Oyaji already paid for everything.

Seeing their shocked and confused faces, Sheila took initiative and went over the menu and drinks and everything that would be served to them.

"I have a very important question." Marco said somewhat seriously.

"Yes?"

"Do we get to pick our own dessert?"

Thatch couldn't help but chuckle while Sheila smiled.

"Yes, you do."

"O.k, great so I would like a piece of that huge chocolate cake I saw downstairs in that display please." Marco said almost childlike which Thatch enjoyed.

"We do have more chocolate cake options if you would like to-"

"Yes please." Marco said as if he were in heaven.

"O.k, I'll be back in a few minutes with your drinks and your first course. During the fifth course I'll bring you the dessert menu."

"Is it alright if I look at it now?"

Sheila let out a small laugh. "I'll bring it along with your first course then."

"Thank you."

As soon the waitress walked away, Thatch couldn't help but laugh.

"What?"

"I knew you wouldn't be able to resist the desserts." Thatch laughed. "And your expression was priceless when she mentioned the ten course meal."

"That chocolate cake was literally calling my name. And I know the meal portions are small but ten courses is still a lot."

"It's worth the experience even though it's freakishly expensive. At least we finally get to taste five star food. I just wish I could see how it's all done."

"I'm surprised you never thought about working here."

"I'd be lying if I said I haven't. But then I decided it was too fancy for my liking. Don't get me wrong, it would be great working in a place like this but I prefer something more family friendly." Thatch leaned in and whispered: "And a place where there's not so many stuck up people with super high expectations."

Marco chuckled. "Good point."

After a couple minutes of small talk, Sheila came back with their drinks and there first course.

"For your first course, which is an hors d'oeuvre, you have shallot and pancetta tortilla chips. Please enjoy and I'll be back with your soup in a couple minutes."

Marco and Thatch thanked her before Marco looked at the plate. "Wow, this is a lot smaller than I thought."

"Told you everything was small." Thatch smiled and then held up his glass of wine. "Cheers to our six year anniversary!"

Marco smiled as he held up his own glass of wine. "Cheers!"

XXX

"For your second course, you have a cold melon and basil soup. Please enjoy and I'll be back with your appetizer shortly."

Marco and Thatch thanked her again.

"This bowl is so small." Marco laughed and then tried the soup. "Damn, this is good as hell. I wasn't expecting for cold soup to be this good."

"Look at the little spoo~ns." Thatch said as he picked one up. "As if spoons in general weren't small enough." He laughed.

XXX

"How was the soup?" Sheila asked as she removed the small soup plates from the table.

"Better than I expected." Marco answered.

"It was great." Thatch told her.

"Glad to hear that. I'll be back shortly with the third course." Sheila said as she walked away.

"I feel like this is never going to end." Marco told Thatch.

"We're only on the third course. Actually, we're about to be on the third course."

"Exactly."

XXX

"For your third course, which is the appetizer, you have candied carrots with honey, cumin and paprika." Sheila described. "Depending on your palates, it might be a little spicy but I do hope you both enjoy it."

Marco and Thatch thanked her and she left soon after.

Marco looked at the plate curiously. What the fuck is a candied carrot? And what did she mean by 'depending on your palates'?

"You o.k, Marco?" Thatch asked noticing his lover just staring at the plate.

"Uh, yeah. I was just wondering what this is. And what she meant when she said depending on your palates."

Sometimes Thatch liked it when Marco didn't know certain things. Especially when it came to food in general. Sometimes he would tease Marco about it but today was special therefore there was no teasing besides playful teasing.

"Remember when I made candied bacon?" Thatch asked.

"Yeah, it was great."

"It's just like that but with carrots. And more spicy. Depending on your preference, you may or may not like it."

"Is that what she meant?"

"Basically."

"Why didn't she say that instead."

"It's all just fancy talk to sound smarter and to make everything sound more complicated and sophisticated than it is."

"Ah, like Food Network."

Thatch couldn't help but laugh. "Pretty much."

XXX

For their fourth course, Marco and Thatch had a simple garden salad and waited a couple minutes for fifth course which was grilled salmon with soy sauce marinade. They also had an alcoholic drink to go with it and they both decided that it was the best dish so far.

XXX

"And for the first main course you have one of our most popular dishes which is deep fried turkey with a honey bourbon glaze. I do hope you enjoy it and please let me know if you would like anything else." Sheila said and then left soon after she was thanked again.

"We're halfway there." Thatch said as he took a bite and immediately fell in love with the flavors. "This is so goo~d."

"Yeah, it is." Marco agreed and then realized something. "Wait…" Marco searched the table for something. "Where's the dessert menu? Did Sheila forget to bring it?"

"No, she remembered." Thatch smiled. "But I wanted to see if you would remember so I told her to hold onto it until you do."

"Thatch!" Marco pouted a bit and then mumbled: "You're lucky we're in a five star restaurant or I'd throw food at you."

Thatch enjoyed seeing some of Marco's 'childish' side tonight. "I'm sure we'd be banned from here in a heartbeat."

"I want my dessert menu~." Marco whispered.

"You'll get your dessert menu~." Thatch whispered back.

XXX

For their seventh course, Marco and Thatch had a lovely palate cleanser which was a simple lemon Sorbet.

"Wow, this is really good." Marco said wishing he had more. It then grew a little quiet until he spoke again. "So, um… You look wonderful in that suit. Silver really suits you. Uh, no pun intended."

"I accept the compliment with or without the pun." Thatch smiled. "You look wonderful in your suit to. It… It makes your eyes stand out. You're really lucky to have blue eyes."

"You're really lucky to have brown eyes."

Before more could be said, Sheila came back with their second main course which was grilled flatiron steak with rosemary potatoes. The couple thanked her and she left shortly after.

"Wait, excuse me! Miss- o.k, she left." Marco said and then got slightly annoyed.

"Here, child." Thatch said practically just tossing something to Marco who barely caught it.

"What the hell?!" It was the dessert menu! "You had it all this time?!"

All Thatch could do was laugh.

"You're so lucky your wearing that suit." Marco said as he finally looked through the dessert menu.

"See anything you like?"

"Everything chocolate."

XXX

For their ninth course, Marco and Thatch shared a rich triple chocolate lava cake with chocolate shavings on top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup and some ice cream on the side with another glass of wine.

"This is literally the best cake I've ever had in my life." Marco said happily as he slowly moved the plate towards himself.

"Hey, save some for me!" Thatch laughed.

"Is this finally the last course?"

"Nope, there's one more. And if you don't share that dessert, I'm not sharing the last one."

"Fine."

Marco placed the plate back in the middle.

XXX

"And for the final course, you simply have chocolate bite sized macaroons. I hope you both enjoyed your experience here and I wish you both a happy anniversary. I'll be back in a couple minutes for your plates." Sheila told them and then left shortly after she was thanked yet again.

"We finally made it to the final course." Thatch said as he looked at the tiny macaroons. "I can literally eat all of these by myself."

"You can have most of them since I ate most of the cake." Marco offered even though he already ate three macaroons.

"Well, at least we don't have leftovers. I think I'm gonna be full for a week." Thatch chuckled.

"Me to. Good thing we have tomorrow off as well."

"Yeah. Today was such a great day. I really wish we could do this more often. Although, on a much cheaper scale."

"Me to. Being able to relax. Eat out. Enjoy each other's company. Whether it's cheap or not, it's just really great to be with you."

If Marco wasn't across the table, Thatch would've kissed him.

"Hey, Marco?"

"Yeah?"

"What did you mean when you told me I'm really lucky to have brown eyes?"

Marco wasn't expecting that but smiled. "Is that really all you see is regular brown eyes?"

"Well… Yeah. They're so common. And boring. I don't think us brown eyed people see anything special about them and it's not like there's anything to compare them to." Thatch looked away. "Plus mine are dark brown so that's no fun."

That made Marco frown a bit. "That's not what I see when I look at your eyes."

Thatch looked at Marco now curious. "Wha…"

"Thatch. I'm about to get real cheesy. I love chocolate. Every time I look into your eyes, I see dark chocolate. And you might not know it, but your eyes change color to. When they're light brown, they remind me of milk chocolate."

'My eyes change color?' Thatch thought trying to think if he's seen his own eyes change. However, what Marco said got into his thoughts more. Since when was he so poetic? Thatch was so busy with his thoughts that he hardly noticed Marco go up to him.

"Thatch. I love you so much. Earlier you said you'd chase me until the end of time and to the ends of the earth. I didn't say it out loud before but just know that I would always do the same for you. Happy Six Year Anniversary, Thatch."

Said person was getting teary eyed but before he could speak, Marco leaned in for a kiss and next thing Thatch knew, their lips were locked. At that moment, Thatch decided that he didn't care who saw them or was watching them. All he cared about was being with Marco.

Although, the couple did smile when the crowd started cheering.

After a couple seconds, they pulled away and Thatch spoke. "Marco-"

Suddenly, the cheers grew louder.

"Thatch… Will you marry me?"

Whitebeard had a feeling that something was wrong when he heard Marco's tone when he called. He decided to wait until he was there to ask but as soon as his sons got in the car he knew for sure that something was wrong.

They were very quiet and Thatch looked like he was about to cry while Marco seemed to be thinking about his life choices.

Whitebeard decided to pry a little but was careful.

"How was the restaurant?" He asked carefully.

"It was great." They both answered.

Whitebeard took the hint that neither one of them wanted to speak and now knew that something was definitely wrong.

As soon as he stopped at the light, Whitebeard took out his phone and quickly messaged Haruta.

'Cancel EVERYTHING. Do not ask questions until you leave there house. I'll call you after I drop them off.'

Sent.

Whitebeard took a quick glance at his sons again in the mirror before he continued driving.

After what felt like the most tense drive home ever, they arrived at the house and Thatch didn't waste any time opening the car door and leaving. He didn't even both waiting for Marco.

Whitebeard hoped to Davy Jones that Haruta managed to cancel everything on time. Said father then turned around to look at his son who hasn't even moved.

"Mind telling me what's going on?"

Thatch entered the house and was glad no one was there. All he wanted to do was to get out of this damn suit, lay on the bed and cry.

"Thatch… Will you marry me?"

Thatch felt his whole world stop and suddenly cared about who saw them and who was there watching. Did… Did Marco just…?

"What?" Thatch asked hoping he didn't hear right.

"Will… Will you marry me?" Marco repeated.

Said person was currently on one knee and had a small jewelry box in his hands with a ring inside. A fucking ring. An actual fucking wedding ring! When the hell did he get it and how?!

Thatch snapped out of his thoughts when the small crowd cheered them on once more and he officially declared this as the most embarrassing moment of his life.

He didn't even know what to say.

"No! I don't want to! Marco, what the hell?!"

Said person blinked surprised by the outburst.

"I… I don't want to." Thatch repeated now feeling a wave of emotions. "I thought…"

Next thing Marco knew Thatch was gone.

Marco looked around for Thatch and called his name until he found him by a bus stop.

"Thatch-"

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Thatch said as he pushed Marco's hand away. "I thought we were going to wait until tomorrow to talk about that?! What you just did was seriously the most embarrassing thing you've ever done! What the hell were you thinking?!"

"I… I thought… I-"

"If you really think proposing to me in front a crowd was going to get me to say yes then you thought way wrong. I am NOT afraid to say no anymore."

Marco didn't know what Thatch meant by that last sentence.

"Now call Oyaji before I take the next bus instead." Thatch demanded as he walked away.

"…and that's when I called you." Marco explained to Whitebeard. "I… I shouldn't have done that." He became teary-eyed. "I'm such an idiot! I… I messed up so bad!"

Before Whitebeard could say anything, Marco left the car and ran inside the house.

I don't even know what to say here. … … … … … …

Sooo~~~… … … … … That happened.

I debated over putting Marco proposing to Thatch on their anniversary so many times. I almost didn't make it happen because I didn't want to ruin their happiness. But as I was thinking about this months ago I thought 'My one-shots are too perfect' as in 'Marco and Thatch's relationship is too perfect'.

And I hope we all know and SHOULD KNOW that there is no such thing as a 'perfect relationship'. You're going to argue, you're going to have disagreements, there are always going to be secrets whether they're big or small. Unfortunately, there's also always going to be fighting whether it's verbal or physical. (Of course, no one wants to fight physically but sadly, it does happen)

The point is, you can't always talk it out and have passionate and understanding. Sometimes there is going to be arguing and disagreement before that happens.

With that being said, I kind of have an idea of what I want the next chapter to be (I already have a name for it) but it'll possibly write itself as I go. Depending on where it goes, hopefully this feud doesn't last too long.

The next chapter will be out whenever I'm ready to put it up but it's not finished yet so :P

Thank You guys for reading and please stay safe out there.
