Chap 21 Kyo Gets Bad News
Date: 1 Dec 2299 Friday
"What?!" Kyo cried. "Which one?"
He had been having bad feelings all morning. The cold was one thing but this feeling was deep, soul deep, like something was tearing at him.
The messenger on the other end of the phone repeated the message. Earlier this morning one of the company planes had been hit by a meteor, a complete fluke, and had gone down over the Mediterranean. The company was letting all the employees know. They were not releasing names until next of kin were notified.
Kyo breathed a little easier. Yuki and he had put each other on the list for notification so he should be a first contact. Still his chest ached.
Maybe he should let Dad know he wasn't feeling so well. Dad could help. He was at the villa while Father was doing a guest speaking gig at the med school.
Dismissing the messenger he pulled out his cell phone to call his dad and walked over to the window of the hotel room.
Brrrng
Brrrng
Brrrng
"Hello," came the disembodied voice.
"Dad, It's Kyo. I don't feel so well. I thought it was just a cold but my chest is killing me."
A knock was at the hotel door.
"Hey Dad, I'm going to answer the door. Hang on, okay?"
Kyo walked across the hotel room and opened the door. Three very serious faces greeted him.
"Kyo Takahashi?" One said as he removed his hat. The other men removed their hats in turn
Kyo stuttered, "Hai."
Inuyasha stood by listening.
"Kyo Takahashi, it is our heartbreaking duty to report the loss of Yuki Takahashi in this morning's plane accident." All three men bowed.
Blood pounding in his head was all Inuyasha heard after that point until he heard one of the men call Kyo's name multiple times. Then he heard scrambling about, someone say "Call 112!"
Another voice yelled, "Is he breathing?"
Inuyasha rubbed his mating mark sending the urgent request to his mate for help and at the same time started yelling into the phone.
"PICK UP THE PHONE! I'M A DOCTOR! WHAT'S GOING ON?!" Inuyasha tried to control the panic in his voice. An eternity passed while he waited.
Sesshomaru flashed in through the veranda open door just then.
"Kyo—Yuki-They are in trouble!" Terror overtook Inuyasha's face. He breathed deeply and explained what had happened to that point. Then he heard a voice on the cell phone.
"Hello? I may have to hang up. We have an emergency here," came the voice.
"WAIT!" yelled Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. "WE'RE KYO'S PARENTS!"
In the hotel room the company official hung up the cell phone just as he heard "PARENTS"
He quickly dialed back.
Sesshomaru grabbed the phone and put it on speaker.
"Before you go further, where are you?" Sesshomaru pointedly looked at Inuyasha who gave one head nod in understanding.
"Nicosia, Cyprus. We're headed for the University medical center."
"Right. Inuyasha, Meet me there."
Sesshomaru zoomed out the villa, a bright sphere of light, headed toward Cyprus.
"Alright, talk to me. What is happening to my kids?"
