Natalie stepped off of the B.A.U. elevators to be greeted by an ecstatic Garcia with a cup of coffee in her hand.
"Hi Penelope." Natalie said, trying to play it cool but failing. "Morgan tell you?" Natalie eyed the older agent across the room who jokingly threw his hands up in protest.
Natalie shook her head and smiled.
"Hi Natalie. Are you going to spill?" Garcia asked, enthusiastically.
"It was great. That's all I'm going to tell you." Natalie replied.
Garcia groaned, "Really?!"
Natalie nodded her head and winked at Reid, the whole team now knowing what was going on.
Natalie saw Hotch out of the corner of her eye and gulped her coffee, he raised an eyebrow and then nodded in approval.
He then asked the couple into his office.
Hotch looked stern,
"I do have to report this to H.R. considering you're on the same team however you're both excellent profilers that I will talk to them about keeping you both in the B.A.U. It's not against policy but the higher ups aren't a fan. But I don't think it will be an issue." Hotch told them confidently.
Natalie and Reid smiled at the unit chief. "Thanks, Hotch," Reid said.
"Natalie, can I have a moment with Dr. Reid?"
Natalie nodded and mouthed thank you to him as she walked out of his office.
Morgan nodded to her as he approached her desk, "It'll be fine. really." He reassured her.
Natalie nodded, she was nervous about H.R. because she didn't want either of them to leave the B.A.U., she had grown to love the team and she was good at profiling.
"Reid." Hotch started but stopped and nodded to him.
Reid smirked and nodded back.
"This won't affect your work?" Hotch asked, sincerely.
Reid shook his head, "I really don't think so. We've had these…I don't think so."
"We all know. I don't think it will either. As long as it doesn't affect your work and you both still profile efficiently, H.R. won't have a problem." The unit chief told him.
The young agent nodded in understanding. Hotch motioned for him to leave, as Reid stood up, he asked him to pause for a moment.
"Normally, I would push for a transfer but in this case, I don't think it's necessary," Hotch told him. "Do you understand?"
Reid nodded, "I understand. Thank you." Hotch was nodding to Reid being so happy and how Natalie seemed to bring a new side out of him.
Morgan drove the van into the prison where Cat was being held. Reid and Morgan had come with her.
"Are you sure you don't want us in there?" Morgan asked.
"I'm sure. I think I need to do this by myself." Natalie answered.
She had spoken to the whole team before going. The team agreed Morgan and Reid were the best to go with her. Garcia had technology at the prison under wraps in case anything funny happened.
A long time ago, Natalie would have had to face Cat by herself but thanks to the B.A.U., she didn't.
"If you need us to come in, hit the 1 on your phone and Garcia will notify us. We're here." Morgan assured her.
Reid squeezed her hand and nodded.
Cat gave a creepy smile.
"Hi, Natalie. So glad you came to visit me. Feel less guilty yet?"
"Hi, Cat. Less guilty for what?" She asked, confused.
"You didn't bother - why would you come and see me. I can't stand you. I would have preferred Spencey come visit me." Cat smirked.
That threw Natalie off since she didn't expect Cat to know anything about Reid but it hit her, Cat liked Reid. She genuinely had a crush on him Natalie gulped. She shook it off for the moment.
"I didn't bother what, Cat?" Natalie asked, her tone a little harsh.
"You left me, Natalie. You just left." Cat said.
Natalie's eyes were wide, "I didn't leave you, Cat! And I should have. You murdered my fiancé because I didn't leave you!" She was yelling now.
Garcia had eyes in the prison and she alerted the team on Natalie's change in demeanor as her arms flailed.
She had brought Prentiss into the bat cave, "Do you think someone should go in?"
Prentiss nodded, "Morgan."
"Hello." Morgan approached Natalie, grabbing her shoulders which instantly made her a little calmer.
"Derek Morgan." Cat smirked, "So you have friends now?"
Natalie nodded.
"Cat, I don't know why I came. You're my sister, my twin sister and I hate that and I love you."
Cat almost looked empathetic but Natalie knew she wasn't capable.
Cat sighed, she started remembering when they were kids, Natalie did take care of her but it didn't matter, she was too far gone.
"I don't know why you came either, Nat."
Natalie noted calling her by her nickname, it meant something and any feeling from Cat was a win.
Morgan put his hand on Natalie's back, "Maybe we should go."
"You're right. I won't be visiting again, Cat." Natalie told her firmly.
Cat rolled her eyes as the two agents left.
Once they were outside, Natalie burst into tears.
Reid saw this and instinctively jumped out of the vehicle. Morgan had his arm wrapped around Natalie and he let Reid take his place, Natalie leaned into Reid.
While driving, she had calmed down but her face was still buried in Reid's chest, his arms wrapped around her as he rubbed his hand up and down her back.
"We're sorry, Natalie," Morgan told her.
"It's okay. I know better." Natalie sighed, Reid kissed her head and they were silent on their way back to the B.A.U.
Once back at the B.A.U., the three traveling agents were surprised to see everyone still there.
"We haven't had a case so were catching things up and we wanted to see how you were," Prentiss told them but looked at Natalie.
They all nodded,
"I'm okay. Thank you."
Reid and Morgan both took Natalie home. The whole team needed rest, the lull in cases meant they needed to be prepared for the next one to be wild.
A/N: I want to write more Cat but not sure if I should have Natalie visit or another person - let me know! I have lots of chapters centered on a case coming. After that, it will be a lull in cases and focus on the team stories and whether I wrap up this whole story there or continue into season 12 or a sequel will depend on reviews which I am requesting you leave just to tell me what you'd like to see. Thanks!
