Chapter 20

As Eliot drove Hardison directed him towards Nate's location at breakneck speed. At the same time Sophie kept trying his phone which just rang until it went to voicemail. The tension in the van was growing as their fear for Nate's safety escalated. Eventually they arrived at a block of apartments which Hardison said was where Nate's phone was. Eliot pulled up and they all piled out of the van and ran to the entrance. The doorman stepped in front of them.

"Can I help you?" He asked them.

Eliot wanted to just grab him and throw him out the way but controlled his emotions as Sophie stepped forward, the street was crowded and they did not want to make a huge scene out here.

"Yes we are here to see Nate Ford." Sophie told the man.

"Ah yes Mr Ford. Well I am afraid he is not here. Perhaps I can give him a message."

"He's not here. When did he leave?" Sophie asked now really anxious, Nate's phone was most definitely here.

"He left with a friend of his about oh ten minutes ago." The man said.

"What friend?" Eliot growled out.

"Look I don't think Mr Ford would like me to be telling you anything." The man said getting a bad feeling. Eliot moved a step forward ready to take the man out when Sophie stepped up seeing unpleasant things in the man's future and not wanting to draw attention to themselves.

"Look ah…"

"Tony."

"Tony, thank you." She smiled at him. "Nate is an old friend of mine and I am only in town for a short while. We, well we are very close and this is his family." She said in her sweetest voice. "You don't have to tell us where he went, but if you could please just tell us who he went with that would be a great help. I know all his friends."

"Well, I don't know." The man said looking at her and then smiled. "Well it's not as if I am betraying any secrets I guess. He left with a man called Trevor. They left in quite a hurry." He said noting the dark look that came onto the face of the dangerous looking man with them and the look of fear in the other three people's eyes at the mention of Trevor but said nothing.

Eliot heard what he said and then turned away to dial a number.

"Bonano, I think you have a leak man." Eliot said.

"Yes I figured. Nobody knew about Trevor, it was a Nate special. Then when we arrived back here his guys were waiting." Bonano said having come to the same conclusion. "What does Nate say?"

"He has Nate. He picked him up from his place about ten minutes ago. Who knew where Nate was staying?"

"Nobody." Bonano said then paused. "I went over to see him when he called about a week ago."

"Dammit." Eliot said softly. That is how Trevor had found Nate, through Bonano and he was going to be in the wind with inside information as to where the cops were looking for him.

"I think you guys should stay away from me until I figure out where this leak is." Bonano said not wanting to cause even more trouble for Nate or for the team.

"Thanks Pat and good luck." Eliot said before hanging up and turning to face the team.

"What do we do now?" Sophie asked. They had to do something. They had to get to Nate. They had to stop Trevor. He had come back to save them and he had, now it was their turn to make sure he came out alright as well.

"I don't know." Eliot said honestly. He did not know. How the hell did they find Nate? Worse what if they did not find Nate, or least not in time. He shook his head getting rid of that thought immediately.

"Our best bet is Hardison." Sophie said looking at the Hacker. "You are the only one that could find at least a clue to where he is Hardison, he needs you to be at your best now."

Hardison stared at her and then nodded. "But I need all my WebCrawler's, we need to get back to the offices."

They all piled back into the van and headed home. All of them consumed with their own thoughts. Nate was out there dealing with a mark they had pissed off, a mark at whose hands they would have died at if Nate had not stepped in. He was alone with a man who is intent on killing him and they had no idea where he was. Sophie almost wished the man had not come back. Rather her than him she thought. Hardison was already busy on his computer while Eliot and Parker stared straight ahead of them probably thinking the same thoughts as Sophie. This was their fault and they had to extricate Nate from this situation, preferably unharmed and definitely not dead.
