What is PK Academy if it didn't receive interesting transfer students?

'Less troublesome and better.' Kusuo would say.

The psychic had to endure the ever changing enthusiasm and mood swings of his class. One moment, all the boys were excited because they thought it would be a girl, when they learned that it wasn't, the enthusiasm shifted to their female counterparts.

Saiki noticed that Emiko didn't seem to be interested seeing that she was cramming a homework she forgot to do.

When the new student finally entered the girls were filled with anticipation. 'Please be handsome and not a weirdo.' Was their collective prayer.

Emiko just finished her homework in the nick of time and raised her head to see the new boy. For some reason, her heart stopped as she saw his dark purple hair.

'Could it be-?' She wondered when she saw his face, she realised that he wasn't... wasn't... She wasn't really sure. 'Oh. Not him.'

The mood of the girls deflated seeing that he seemed rather ordinary and gloomy.

He wrote his name on the board in a peculiar way that read 'Kuboyasu Aren was here.'

"My name is Kuboyasu Aren and I moved here from Ibaraki."

"Was here?" People murmured aloud and the new student immediately erased the last two words and stuttered that it was an old habit and blurted out that they should forget about it.

He was pleasantly surprised when the class welcomed him anyway so he responded with a funny tone expression that seemed normal for him.

"What's up, Homies?"

After that, people thought that he was rather quirky. Kusuo knew better however, he knew that this Kuboyasu Aren used to be a former delinquent. During their free time, Kusuo observed this peculiar guy and noticed how much he struggled by nearly beating up two people who walked past him and quickly realising that that's not how normal people do it. He even ran into Nendou who claimed that he was punk with pretty lame examples like he ate a whole watermelon by himself once and claimed that he was pre-tty wild. Kuboyasu left quickly knowing that if he stayed longer, Nendou would no longer have a recognisable face. The purple headed ex-delinquent didn't last long with his resolve not to beat up anyone as he saw a guy bully a small student. He beat up the bully and ended up scaring the victim as well. Saiki realised that this new student, though somehow had a mislead childhood, had a good head on his shoulders. He had nothing to worry about, so he left.

Since it was a Tuesday, Emiko left the school late and decided to study a bit in Kohi to Kashi before going home. She was about to make a turn when she saw a familiar boy beating up a group of thugs... Or... He was the thug beating up people who looked like thugs.

She watched the scene unfold not knowing which side was in the right. Eventually, the fight ended and Kuboyasu returned the wallet to the little boy he was defending. He felt someone looking at him and his eyes widened when he saw Emiko there with a look of surprise.

'She's the girl from my class!' He thought. 'She's the beautiful, popular girl who everyone likes. This is it for me. She's going to tell everyone about me and no one will be my friend.' He thought sadly. He was surprised though to see her approaching slowly not appearing to be scared at all.

"Kuboyasu, right?" She asked.

He nodded and kept his head down.

"You okay?" She asked casually with concern.

He looked up surprised that she would even ask.

"Why do you ask? You saw me beat up all those people, shouldn't you be afraid?"

"Well, you did the right thing, didn't you?"

"I-I guess."

"Don't worry. I mean, usually, I wouldn't resort to violent means but that doesn't mean that I didn't beat anyone up in the past." She said with a nervous smile.

"Well, old habits die hard, I guess." He looked curiously at Emiko as she didn't seem like the type to beat people up at all. His eyes widened at a realisation.

'Beautiful, small, pink hair, green eyes and a voice that was lower than the average female?' He started stuttering "Y-you!"

"Huh?" She asked extremely confused.

"You did beat someone up!"

"I know. I just told you."

"N-No! Y-you beat up someone from my gang!"

"You used to be in a gang? You were a delinquent?"

"Yes! But that's not the point! You beat up Soru!"

"Who's Soru?" She narrowed her eyes remembering the very few people she might have roughed up. "Was he a black haired dude with a scar on his left cheek and kept chewing gum?"

"That's him!"

"Huh. Small world. So you were friends with Soru. So maybe you aren't much of a good guy after all."

"No! Soru was defending himself from the old woman who had a gun!"

"The old woman didn't have a gun!"

"She did! He said she brought it out and threatened him!"

"Nonsense! The only thing she was carrying was a cake that she baked for her grandson! I'd know! I saw the whole thing happen! Soru completely squashed the cake."

"Soru said that the grandma used to be in a gang and was tall and muscular. He said that the woman even had a tattoo on her right arm that had a skull."

"Well, I don't know how to tell you this but that Soru is a liar. The old woman was a bit shorter than I and I'm small. She was didn't have much muscle and she certainly didn't have a tattoo! I defended her from Soru who tried to mug her."

"Oh." Kuboyasu muttered. "Well, you did quite a number on him and your description is known in the world of delinquents. It was said that if anyone came across you, to recruit you."

"What!" She exclaimed. "You guys are crazy. Please choose your friends better."

The boy was quiet for a while. "I left that life. Which is why they're no longer my friends... That's why I transferred to PK."

"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say those hurtful things."

"It's fine, you didn't. This transition to normal life is harder than I thought. Just a while ago I nearly beat up three people. Including that Nendou guy."

"Not Nendou! He's rather endearing when you get used to him. He only means well." She said with a smile.

"I guess. Anyway, did you walk here? Where's your bike?"

"Bike?"

"Yeah, Soru said you a had a red motorcycle with skulls and flames."

"Didn't we just establish that Soru doesn't tell truthful stories?"

"Oh yeah." He said scratching the back of his head. "I don't know how normal people are. I'm worried I won't have friends."

"Well, let me be your first friend. I'm heading to one of my favourite cafes. Maybe I can treat you to something, Kuboyasu?"

"Cafe?" He turned red. "Isn't that just for girls? Where you get massaged and stuff?"

"What? No! You've never-" She stopped herself before she said anything that might offend him "I think you have the wrong idea of what a cafe is. A cafe is where you are served coffee, tea and pastries."

"Well, thanks for allowing me to tag along. No one seemed to like me back in school."

"Give it time." She said with a reassuring smile to which Aren blushed.

"We're here!" She announced as she entered.

She was greeted by Kimiko and Haku who were really happy to see her.

"Well here's our favourite customer! Who's your friend?" Kimiko asked.

"This is Kuboyasu Aren! He's a new transfer to my class and new to the area so I decided to show him to only the best cafe for miles and miles." She said with a wink.

Both siblings blushed with the praise. "Nice to meet you, Kuboyasu-san! Any friend of Emiko's is a friend of ours!"

'She's famous outside of school as well? Just who am I hanging out with?' Aren thought wondering if Emiko was a celebrity that he didn't know about since he was too busy in his gang to know any. 'I mean, she looks like she can be one.'

"What are you going to order?" Emiko asked him.

He looked through the menu and the images there realising that he didn't know a whole bunch of these things. In the end, he settled on this drink that looked like it had some blood prettily smeared on it.

Emiko payed for her cinnamon roll and Kuboyasu's drink even if the siblings kept insisting that she didn't need to pay. She begged them to let it be just this once.

When they got their orders, she watched eagerly as Kuboyasu took a sip of his drink and made a face similar to Saiki's whenever he had coffee Jelly.

"This is so good! What is this?" He asked. He didn't really read what it was as he just pointed to the picture.

"That's a strawberry milkshake!"

"It's delicious! I didn't know things like this existed!" He said happily. "Thank you for this, Hiro-san."

"You're welcome!"

During their short time together, Emiko learned the reason why he was so blown away with his drink.

"...you only drank black coffee and beer. Water when you were feeling like you wanted something different...?"

"Yup! Soru said that beer and coffee were the drinks of men and that they boosted the growth of my hair."

Emiko stroked an imaginary teared and said "This Soru guy, he's not reliable."

"No he wasn't. He was the weakest of us all, but we always thought that he made up for it with his brains."

"Nope, he didn't'." She said with a laugh.

"A-about my secret... You know, being a delinquent and all... You won't tell anyone, right?" He said nervously.

"Not a soul." She smiled. 'I'm pretty sure that Kusuo knows this already though.'

After their short bonding time, each went in their own direction after Emiko insisted that she didn't need to be brought home. Both were happy to have made a new friend.

A week later, he slowly started to make new friends although he was completely ticked off by Saiki who seemed nothing to want to do with him who showed him his annoyed face.

Saiki felt himself get nudged on the side by Emiko who whispered "What was that for?"

'I didn't want to talk to him.' Kusuo said plainly.

"You didn't have to be so rude." She told him.

'Just because you're friends with him, doesn't mean I have to be.' Kusuo said with a shrug.

"I guess so." She said. They later witnessed a strange encounter of Kaido and Kuboyasu. They were talking about two different completely different things. One was a fantasy and one was an actual experience, yet, they were talking. They observed the new students as he went around trying to make friends. The duo poked their head through the door of the classroom to see him shutdown by Toritsuka and how Hairo seemed to be someone he looked up to. He was shocked when he learned that Hairo's rival was Nendou and how everyone converged back to Saiki who had the same look of annoyance when he first tried to talk to him.

'Yare yare.' Saiki thought somehow knowing that the new student is intrigued and will befriend him again one of these days.
