The next morning, Sarah Jane and Lynda were having breakfast in the hotel restaurant (all the stuff came from the grails, but everyone just pretended otherwise). "So, Sarah, did you see what happened yesterday evening?" Lynda asked.

'No, I didn't. What is it?"

"I saw Garth walk Olga to her room." Lynda said with a mischievous smile. "Funny thing is that, I don't he came out."

"I don't mean..." Sarah Jane said with astonishment.

"I do mean it, Sarah."

Olga and Eckersley? They did it? Sarah Jane thought. She looked up and saw Garth and Olga approaching the table with their food. Speak of the devil.

"Good morning, ladies," Garth said as he and Olga joined them at the table.

"Well, well, well, look at the two of you," Sarah Jane said, grinning.

"Have fun last night," Lynda asked and then tittered like a schoolgirl.

"Okay, what's going on here!?" Garth asked as he looked from Sarah Jane to Lynda and back again.

"I think they know about last night," Olga said. "About us."

"Ah..." Garth said, looking like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

"It's all right," Lynda said, coming to the rescue. "We're happy for both of you."

"Hope you used protection," Sarah Jane added.

"Nyet, is not necessary," Olga said. "Women can't get pregnant here."

"You sure?" Lynda asked.

"Da."

Makes sense, Sarah Jane thought. Since all who are brought here are immortal, no children would prevent the population from getting too big. She filed the information away in her mind, along with everything else she had learned about this place.

"Those Ethicals thought of everything," Garth said.

"So it would seem," Lynda said. "How's the sonic lance coming?"

"Great," Garth said. "The new prototype is almost complete. In a few days, we'll start the trial runs. If those go well, soon whatever is behind those mountains will give up their secrets."

And what will those secrets be? Sarah Jane couldn't help but think. What will they be?
