Note: This is the final chapter of Changing the Past. I would like to take this time to thank all my reviewers and readers. It has been a long road all the way from 2009 to get this done but finally I did it. Thanks everyone!

Chapter 25: Chapter 25

It had been four months since Jake's paternity was finally settled and he was returned to Lucky, things were finally calming down. Liz still tried to talk to Jason whenever she saw him, but each, and every time she was left with a cold stare and deadly silence as he just walked away, not once did he even speak to her. He had seen Lucky around town with Jake and the pain was of losing him was just now becoming bearable. For the first month, Jason had thrown himself into work and his life with Sam and their daughter. They had even made a small trip back to California to keep his promise of baptizing their daughter by the man who had married Sam and him. Filling his days with loving his small family had made losing Jake less crushing. But he would never forget the little boy that had once occupied his life as his son.

"Jason, are you, all right?" Sam asked. He had been sitting on the couch quietly playing with their daughter for some time and he seemed to be lost in his thoughts. Sam was concerned; when he wasn't spending time with their daughter, he was working.

Jason looked over at her with a small smile, "Yeah, I was just thinking about Jake. I saw him with Lucky a few days ago. And for the first time in months it didn't hurt so much. We talked for a bit. Lucky told me that Liz was trying to get the boys back with Ric's help. I guess she married him again, in hopes that would help her chances for custody. But so far, all her plans to get the kids back have failed. He said she stopped going to her therapy sessions and now he has restricted her visitation even more, only letting her see the kids every other week for an hour. Seems she broke into his house and tried to take boys, so he had her arrested for breaking and entering. But that's all going to change now, Carly told me this morning Lucky filed for a restraining order when she they released her yesterday."

He leaned forward and lightly kissed Sam, "I'm so grateful that Spinelli found you, that you still loved me, fought for me and our daughter. I don't know what I would do without you, but I do know that I wouldn't be the same man that is before you right now." He wrapped his arm around her, looking down at their daughter, and pulled Sam close.

"I love you, Jason. And we will have our ups and downs, but nothing will change the fact that the love between us is stronger than anything anyone can throw at us. You will always miss that little boy, but one day Liz will have to accept that her lies and schemes are what destroyed her life. She did this to herself and if you even think of helping her after all she's done to us, I will shoot you with your own gun and make you sleep on the couch." Sam gave him a serious look and when his eyes got wide and his eyebrows went into his hairline, she started laughing.

"You wouldn't really use my own gun against me, would you Sam?" She just took their daughter into her arms, got up and walked away, making no response. Jason called after her, "Sam? Baby? Come on, really!?"

Kelly's Dinner= 2 Days later

The little Morgan family was at Kelly's eating breakfast, when the door opened admitting Ric and Liz, who were arguing. When Ric saw them, he tried to guide Liz back out, but he appeared to be having little luck in doing so now that she noticed Jason. Once she escaped his efforts, she made a beeline for their table.

"Great here comes trouble, if she starts something, I'm going to hit her again." Sam told Jason, as she glared at the nurse heading their way. Liz was still poking her annoying self into Jason's business every chance she got, it was tiring.

Liz came to an abrupt halt before Jason, "You have to talk to me sometime. We're friends and if Sam had never come back, it could have been you I married not Ric. I know you must be upset that I turned to Ric, but that's no reason to stop talking to me altogether." Wow, Sam thought, she was even more delusional than usual.

Jason clenched his jaw, "I don't care. I'm glad I went after Sam if the consequences were marriage to you." Liz gasped, hurt flashed in her eyes, but Jason didn't stop there, "I told you Jake was the last thing connecting us and now he's not even my son anymore. I have asked you to leave me alone and if you continue to disrespect my wishes, Lucky won't be the only one with a restraining order. We have nothing more to say to each other. You mean nothing to me." He turned away from her and went back to his meal as if nothing had happened.

Liz was frozen, how dare he say they were nothing! After all the work she put in to make him hers, how could he just sit there and treat her that way? This was all Sam's fault; her anger got the best of her and she raged at him. "How can you treat me this way, Jason? After everything I did for you, for us and you just turn your back on me. All my hard work was for nothing, making you think we slept together and conceived a child that night... "her words cut off when Jason's chair clattered to the ground. His icy blue gaze pierced hers and she finally realized what she'd just said.

Sam picked up Emma from her highchair and went to the counter. "Mike would you mind watching her for a minute, take her somewhere out of sight and earshot, please. I don't want her to hear this."

"Sure thing Sam. I'll take her into the back." With that Mike was gone. Sam went back to the table where a confrontation was taking place. She wanted to slap the taste out of Liz's mouth but had decided that her husband had been holding his anger in for far too long and he needed to have his say. She would stand back for once and just give him her silent support. She glanced over at Ric who was just standing there, slack jawed.

Jason felt his anger climbing. Finally, it sunk in just how far Liz would go, everything from the last two years was a lie. Who was this woman, when did she become this person? Or had she always been this way? He stalked over to her and said in a cold voice, "You let me think we'd been together hoping I would start a relationship with you but when I didn't you changed you game plan. You plotted from the beginning to make me think Jake was mine, didn't you? Were you already pregnant or was it just luck on your part?" he asked her.

Liz cringed back from him stuttering in her fear, "I-I was, I just didn't know it. I ju-just wanted you to lo-love me and I know how much you wanted a child. T-this was our chance and I had to take it. Don't you see I-I-I did this for you!"

Ric knew he should step in and protect Liz, but maybe this is what she needed to snap her out of her obsession of Jason Morgan, so he remained quiet, but watchful. He didn't think Jason would hurt her, he wasn't that type of man, but he was ready to jump in if need be.

"No, you did it for yourself." He shouted at her, he reached out and griped her upper arms like a vice, yanking her closer to him, "I'm only going to say this once so listen up. You see me or Sam, you cross the street, you don't talk to me and you don't talk to Sam. We are nothing to you. You stay away from my family or I make you. Do you understand?" he asked her, his voice dripping ice.

"Ye-Yes" Liz trembled, now she knew how people he viewed as threats felt. For the first time, she was truly frightened of Jason. Tears pooled in her eyes and fell down her cheeks. Jason released his hold on her, pinning her with one last cold look, he walked away. She watched as he went to Sam, took her into his arms and together they walked off towards the back of Kelly's to retrieve their daughter. Ric finally moved forward. She looked over at him, her face tearstained, and quietly told him, "I want to go home, I'm not hungry anymore." Liz left Kelly's feeling adrift and broken. Jason like Lucky had finally had enough. She knew now that there was no way that he would look at her the same ever again.

Penthouse

The entered the penthouse, Jason hadn't spoken the whole way home, she could feel the anger and rage just below his silent surface. What Liz had let slip today was racing though her thoughts. Jason never slept with her, but she used his drunkenness against him to make him believe it and then tried to trap him with a baby that she knew wasn't his. Just when she thought that Liz couldn't sink any lower, she hit them with something new. Sam carried Emma up to the nursery and set her in her crib, it was a little early for her nap but she knew that Jason would need to talk, and she didn't want Emma to hear her father's anger.

Sam went back down the stairs and saw that Jason was on the couch, head bent forward. She went to him, sat down, and offered comfort to her beloved. "Jason, are you, all right?

He raised his head slowly, "Yeah, I'm just thinking about all the times I took her side over yours and how unworthy she was of my loyalty. I placed her before you because she was the mother of my child but now, I know the truth. Elizabeth Webber Spencer is nothing but a devil in disguise. She used what she knew of me to torment you and try to bring me to her side. I'm so sorry, Sam." She watched as a lone tear fell from the simmering blue eyes she loved so much, she reached out and wiped it away.

"I love you and if its forgiveness you think you need; I give it freely. You thought she was your friend and that you were doing the right thing, you hurt me, but it wasn't all your fault, she manipulated the whole situation to benefit herself. Its over, Jason. We have a good life, don't let her take anything more from us. We weathered the storm and came out the other side, a little damaged but better for it. We have a beautiful daughter and our possibilities are endless. We corrected our path and came back to each other and nothing Liz has done changed the fact that we love one another." Sam kissed him, showering him with her love.

He pulled back and gazed at her, "How did I get so lucky to have someone like you love me?" He asked, brushing her bangs away from her face.

"You stepped up to take care of me when everyone else had abandoned me, loved my baby as if she were your own and believed in me when no one else would. I'm the lucky one." With that said, Sam once again leaned in for a kiss.

As they held each other in a heated embrace, both thought about how far they had come. Jason was once alone and detached, but now he had a family. Sam had drifted from port to port, ever searching for something unnamed, her only companion, her brother Danny. Now both had a family that they never expected and a happiness that surprised them all. Sure, they suffered pain and loss along the way but that was life and now that everything was out in the open, life was good.

In the many years to come there would be more losses to suffer and gains to value. They would have more children to love, from their own twin boys Daniel Edward and Alan Anthony Morgan, Carly's daughter, Joss to nieces, Kathrine Clare and Sarah Ann and their nephews, Paul Lucas and Nathan James Zacchara, provided by Johnny and his wife Maxie. There would be new marriages and divorces for Sonny, but never for Jason and Sam. And when Jax finally breaks Carly's heart, a reconciliation between her and Sonny suddenly becomes a reality. As the years pass, they would all make new friends but never abandon the old, there'd be new enemies to fight and allies to be made, but one thing would always remain the same, Sam loved Jason and Jason loved Sam.
