"Golbat, use sludgebomb!" Kaz commands.
"Dodge and use scratch!" Dillon calls. Persian manages to dodge the attack, but Golbat flies up higher to avoid her attack.
"Air cutter" Kaz counters as Persian is landing. Before the cat can dodge, she is hit by an intense and sharp wind. She staggers weakly.
"Persian!" Dillon clenches his teeth. "Hang in there!"
Kaz laughs. "Finish it off with a wing attack!" He orders. With a cry of his name, Golbat swoops down towards Persian.
Once Golbat is low enough, Dillon commands Persian to jump on his back. "Now fury swipes!" Golbat is hit with an intense pain, but he manages to throw off the large cat. Persian hits the ground hard and is knocked out.
"Persian is unable to battle! Dillon is down to 2 pokemon!" Granite announces.
"Return, Persian. You did great." Dillon tells the pokeball. He looks over at his opponent. "Let's go, Coal!" Out erupts the golden lizard.
"Charrrrr!" he puffs a flamethrower in the air. Kaz seems surprised by the pokemon's strange color, but he shakes his head and refocuses on the battle.
"Begin!" Granite tells them.
"Sludgebomb!"
"Flamethrower!" Coal's flamethrower is strong enough to overpower the sludgebomb and shoot all the way to Golbat's face. The weakened Golbat can't avoid the attack and faints.
"Golbat is out of the battle! Now both trainers are down to 2 pokemon each!" says Granite.
Kaz returns Golbat and throws out a Wartortle. "Go, Tank!" The Wartortle comes out and cries his name. He then glares at Coal.
"Begin!" announces Granite.
"Water pulse!"
"Use dig!" Dillon counters. Coal avoids the attack as he quickly digs a tunnel.
"Water gun on the ground!" Kaz tells Tank. Tank shoots water at the ground and flies up into the air to avoid getting hit by the dig attack.
"Flamethrower!" Since Wartortle can't dodge in the air, he retreats into his shell and the flamethrower does very little damage. He lands and is met with a slash attack from Coal, but this gives him enough to hit Coal with a direct water pulse attack. The fire lizard faints from the intense critical hit, but he did enough damage to Tank. Dillon returns Coal. "Finish it, Pika!" he commands as Pika runs into the field.
Granite tells them to begin and Pika easily knocks out the tired Tank with a thunderbolt. Kaz's final pokemon is a Gloom. Dillon manages to get Pika to dodge all of Gloom's status powders, but electric moves are weak against grass types.
"Headbutt!" Dillon calls.
"Stop it with vine whip!" Kaz tells Gloom. Pika's speed allows him to dodge the vines and hit Gloom with an intense headbutt. While Gloom is fazed, Dillon orders Pika to use a powerful slam with his tail. This knocks Gloom back and weakens her, but she regains her composure enough to shoot razor leafs at Pika. He can't dodge all of them and get hit by a few. This daze results in him not seeing the poison powder from Gloom. Now both pokemon stand tired and weak. "Fuck you, Dillon!" Kaz yells angrily.
Dillon looks at his opponent. "Pika and I aren't giving up to you that easily!" he shouts back.
"Razor leaf!"
"Agility and end it with a quick attack!" Dillon orders the weak Pika. Pika manages to use agility to dodge all the leaves and knocks out Gloom with his attack.
"Gloom is unable to battle! Dillon and Pika win!" Granite announces. Dillon runs into the field and picks up Pika. He sprays him with an Antidote, and Pika nuzzles his hand as thanks.
"Good job." Dillon tells the mouse. Kaz returns Gloom and approaches Dillon.
"Make sure you call my dad." He hisses angrily and then walks towards Celadon City.
Aurora and Granite run up to pat Dillon on the pat and scratch Pika's head. "Good job, you two!" Aurora exclaims. Dillon nods and notices the sun has almost set.
"What time is it, Granite?" he asks.
The man looks at his pokenav. "Uh. 7PM. Oh boy! That battle took a long time!" he says surprised.
"Can we make it to Cerulean City today?" Aurora asks him. Granite checks the map on his pokenav.
"If we skip dinner, we can get there in 4 hours." Granite tells them. Aurora looks at Dillon.
"I'm not that hungry." she lies. "It's up to you, Dilly Boy." She snickers at the nickname.
The boy sighs and glares at her before looking down at Pika. He thinks about how he needs to apologize to Uncle Gary ASAP. "Me neither." he lies.
