Alex's P.O.V

I was sitting in the library, drinking some bourbon while scrolling through my phone. I heard the front door close and looked up from my phone to see Damon, Stefan, and a middle-aged man, whose face was filled with determination and anger. I stood up and looked at the man in confusion. He seemed familiar, but I couldn't figure out where I had since him before.

"Who's this?" I asked my brothers. Damon smirked as he walked towards the alcohol tray that was behind me.

"This, little sister, is Mikael." I froze once those words left Damon's mouth. I could understand why Klaus and his siblings were afraid of him now. Stefan walked towards the couch and sat down, but my eyes stayed fixed on Mikael. I didn't trust him. I mean how couldn't Damon and Stefan not see the resemblance to our father by Mikael's demeanor alone.

"There's no need to be frightened, Alex was it?" I nodded in confirmation, not trusting my voice. "I hear you want Klaus dead as well," Mikael said as he walked down the steps, towards us. I looked at Damon.

"Can I talk to you in private for a minute?" I asked him and nodded in the direction of the kitchen. I walked around Mikael staring at him and quickly walked into the kitchen with Damon.

Damon held up his arms in confusion, "What?".

"I don't trust Mikael," I told him.

"What do you mean?" Damon asked. "He wants Klaus dead, and so do we. It's a win-win situation here."

"No, Damon, he can't be trusted," I told him. "Everything about him reminds me of our father. His demeanor, the way he talks..." I trailed off and crossed my arms over my chest, while checking to make sure Mikael wasn't in the hallway, listening in. "I don't like it."

"Mikael isn't like our father." Damon scoffed, and I turned to him surprised.

"And what? You think I bring up our father for no reason?" I asked him.

"No," Damon answered quickly. "But I also think Klaus has gotten into your head."

"Klaus hasn't gotten into my head, Damon; I'm telling you to trust me not to trust him ." I insisted. I heard the front door open and saw Elena walk towards the library. I turned back to Damon, and he sighed.

"Fine, if it means anything I'll sleep with one eye open tonight, ok?" He asked, and when I was about to answer, he cut me off. "Great. Now let's go make a plan to kill an Original."

Damon walked out of the kitchen, and I stood there for a few moments. Unbelievable. Damon's so caught up in keeping Elena safe that he doesn't even see what's right in front of him. I walked out of the kitchen and into the library. Elena turned to see it was me before turning back to Mikael. Mikael looked at me, and I leaned against a pillar in the back of the room while squinting my eyes at him. I could see Damon giving me a stern look from behind Mikael, but I didn't give a shit because I didn't trust Mikael.

"Shall we get on with the plan, now that everybody is here?" Mikael asked us.

"Well, that's simple," I said. "All I have to do is call Klaus and tell him I'm in trouble."

"And according to Klaus you will be, but I'll be the one who is making the phone call," Stefan added on.

"Explain." I snapped.

"Aye, let's say Mikael followed Alex back home. He tried to grab her so that he could use her as bait." Stefan proposed.

"And you what? Vervain him?" Elena asked.

"No, we vervain him!" Damon exclaimed. "This guy is an Original. We have to make it realistic." He told her.

"Okay, fine. Damon and I come home in time to vervain him to keep Alex safe, and in the process, we discovered that he had a dagger." Stefan said. I noticed that Mikael had walked out of the room while we continued to make our plan. What is he up to?

"Which he planned to use on Rebekah, but instead…" Elena started.

"We drove it through his heart," Stefan said, finishing her sentence.

"And what happens when he asks to see Mikael's body?" Elena asked us. Stefan looked at Damon and me, having forgotten about that.

"That's right! You, brother, have been compelled to do whatever Klaus says." I said to him. "So the best idea to lure him back here to kill him is still to let me call him because the last thing we need is for you getting tripped up and tongue-tied."

"I'm in charge of getting him back here because he will easily be able to tell if you're lying, Alexandria," Stefan said, and I flashed my golden eyes at him when he said my name.

"Ok, fine," I growled. "You're right, Klaus is smart, and he'll be able to tell if I'm lying to him. And if we tell him that Mikael's dead, he'll still want proof."

"Then I shall be dead," Mikael said to us as he walked back into the room with a brown piece of cloth in his hand. He started to unwrap the fabric and revealed a silver dagger.

"What if he wants to see you in person?" Elena asked him.

"Well, that means our plan is working. Klaus will absolutely want to see my body. You lure him here, and I will use his love for you, Alex, against him to kill him." Mikael explained to us all. I saw Damon confusion out of the corner of my eye and chose to ignore it.

"With what? Those daggers won't work on him." I told him.

"Well, I'm in possession of a stake fashioned from the wood of the ancient white oak tree. The one that left these ashes when it burned." Mikael explained as he showed us a small jar of grey ashes.

"Where is it?" Stefan asked as Mikael is dipping a dagger into the jar.

"Not here. The knowing of its location is my insurance policy." He said.

"Against what?" I asked, I mean he doesn't have anything to fear from us. He could kill all of us in the blink of an eye.

"You leaving this in my heart." He stated. "You see, a vampire can't dagger an original without dying. So…" Mikeal turned to Elena and held it out to her. "It falls to you."

"Y-You want me actually to dagger you?" Elena asked, her voice shaking in fear.

"Klaus will leave nothing to chance - especially when it comes to trust," Mikael said, and Elena gave Damon and I a look, unsure of what to do.

Damon nodded in agreement with Mikael whereas I just stared at Mikael. She then takes the dagger from Mikael and sticks it in his heart. We watched as Mikael falls to the ground on his back. I then walked towards the stairs to get Rebekah.

"Where are you going?" Damon asked me, and I turned to him.

"Klaus isn't going to believe us immediately when we tell him our story. He'll want to hear it from someone he trusts, i.e., Rebekah." I explained and sped upstairs to the room she was staying in. I hadn't spoken to her since last night and sighed at the thought. I hesitated to knock on the bedroom door.

After I ended my phone call with Klaus last night, I went downstairs and saw Rebekah on her knees crying in front of the fire. She noticed me and tried to cover up the fact she was crying and got defensive. A few minutes later, I asked her why she was crying. She explained how Elena came back with some photos of the cave drawing and revealed to her that Klaus had been the one who killed their mother and not Mikeal.

Since then I felt like an idiot. I opened up to Klaus last night, gave him a bit of my trust, but now I just wished I had waited for the other shoe to drop. Of course, this didn't change how I saw Mikael. He was a monster, even before he started hunting his children, but I should have known better to open up to Klaus so quickly.

I knocked on the door softly, "Rebekah?" I asked through the door. "It's Alex." She didn't respond. "Look, I just came to tell you that your father is daggered downstairs." I took a step back when the door opened to reveal her. I spotted the dry tear stains on her eyes and how messed up her hair was. I felt pity for her. If I found out that Damon or Stefan every killed my mom after years of thinking it was a disease that killed her...I would be a mess.

"What?" Rebekah asked.

"Yeah, it's part of a plan to get Klaus back to Mystic Falls." I started to explain.

"So you can kill him," Rebekah said, and I nodded while looking at my feet.

"We need you to be downstairs in case he asks for you to confirm that Mikael is daggered," I explained and looked to see Rebekah walking back into her room.

I walked in slightly to see her brushing her hair. She then turned and walked out of the room, without saying a word to me. I followed her after closing her bedroom door. My little brother was sitting in a chair when I came back down with Rebekah. We all watched him call Klaus, but I decided to listen in on what Klaus was saying.

" Portland is fantastic. Once you get over all the whiny music and healthy-looking people, it is literally a breeding ground for werewolves. " Klaus said.

"Your father is dead," Stefan said. Wow, way to break the news Stef.

" What did you say to me? " Klaus asked, begin astonished by Stefan just said.

"Oh, my mistake. Not your actual father and not dead. Mikael. Daggered. What do you want me to do with the body?" Stefan asked emotionless as he looked at Mikael.

" Well, first I want you to explain to me exactly what happened, " Klaus demanded.

"Mikael followed Alex home to draw you back into town." Stefan started.

" Is she ok? " Klaus asked, and I saw Damon look at me. He gave me another confused look at why Klaus cared so much about me, but I didn't meet his eye.

"She's alive. Lucky for her, Damon and I arrived in time to vervain him. In the process, we found out he had a dagger in his possession and used it on him." Stefan explained as he looked at Mikaels' body. Klaus stayed quiet for a few seconds before responding.

" I wanna see him. I want to see his rotting body for myself. " Klaus said.

"Well, he's here. Come by whenever." Stefan told him.

" If you are lying to me Stefan, your compulsion will expose you. So, answer with your life: Is what you are saying the truth? " Klaus asked. I looked down at Mikael's body and nodded at Stefan.

"It's true. I saw it with my own eyes." Stefan confirmed.

" I wanna talk to Rebekah, " Klaus said.

"That's not a problem. Rebekah's right here." Stefan said and stood up to hand the phone over to Rebekah.

"Hello, Nik." She said to him.

" Rebekah, love. What's this I hear about Mikael's tragic run-in with the dagger? " Klaus asked, and she stared at Mikael.

"It's true. Mikael's finally out of our lives for good. I miss you. I'm miserable here." Rebekah said.

" I'll be home soon, " Klaus said.

"Good. I'll see you then, brother." Rebekah said. She hangs up the phone and turns to us. "He bought it. He's coming home."

"Now- was that easy or what?" Damon said as if it's over.

"It's not over yet Damon," I said to him and looked at Elena.

"Let's just get this over with," Elena said and pulled the dagger out of Mikael's chest.

I walked into my room and sat down on my bed. I ran my hand through my hair before covering my face with my hands as I thought about everything that was about to going down tomorrow. There was something about siding with Mikael that made me uneasy. Maybe it's the fact that he reminded me of my father and I never thought I would side with a monster like that. I heard my phone vibrate and snapped out of my thoughts. I looked and saw that Klaus was calling me.

" Hello, sweetheart, " Klaus said to me. " Stefan called and told me about your little run-in with Mikael. "

"Well, I wouldn't call it little, he tried to kidnap me," I told him.

" Are you ok? " He asked, and I heard the concern in his voice.

"Yeah, I'm just trying to remember the last time I felt like this," I told him.

" Felt like what? " He asked.

"Afraid," I answered. "Let's just say the interaction I had with your dad is giving me a lot of flashbacks, that I'd rather forget."

" Well, I'll be there soon, and then you'll never have to see him again, " Klaus said, and I nodded to myself. " Goodbye, Alex. "

"Goodbye, Klaus," I said and placed my phone on the table next to me after he hung up. I sat alone for a little while and decided to talk to Damon. Anything was better than sitting alone with my thoughts. I walk out of my room to go to Damon's. I saw Elena standing in his bathroom while they filled up vervain grenades and placed them on Damon's bed.

"Hey, Alex," Damon said.

"Hey," I responded.

"Are you going to Homecoming?" Elena asked, and I looked at her confused.

"Why would I go to a high school dance for no reason?" I asked her.

"Because that's where the Klaus-Mikael-Showdown is happening," Damon said as he walked over to his bed to place three more grenades down. I groaned, and Stefan popped his head into Damon's room.

"I need to borrow a tie," Stefan told him.

"You have your own ties," Damon said as he walked back to the bathroom. A fight about ties, let's see who wins.

"Hm...I'm 162 years old, and I'm going to a Homecoming Dance. I need better ties." Stefan said, and I turned to Damon to see his response.

"You could not go," Elena suggested.

"Good point, Elena," I stated.

"I'm compelled to protect you and Alex. And if I look at your track record, Elena, at high school dances - it's pretty tragic. With my luck, you'll go and get yourself murdered by the Homecoming Queen…" Stefan said and walked away after taking one of Damon's ties for his closet. Elena looks at me as I walk over to the grenades on the bed. I saw they had both wolfsbane and vervain in them. I also saw Elena's necklace on the bed. I grabbed and stuck it in my pocket when no one was looking, then held up the grenade to Elena and Damon confused.

"Plan on killing me too?" I asked them.

"Nope, just Klaus," Elena said and I put the grenade on the bed.

"Well, I'm pretty sure Mikael might kill me in order to spite Klaus," I stated.

"What is Klaus's deal with you?" Damon asked me and I shrugged.

"Every time I ask him, he just responded with 'Because you're mine' and then never explains," I explained to my older brother.

"You really know how to pick them, don't you?" Damon mocked and I rolled my eyes before walking out of his room.
