Dangerous Liaisons
Chapter 22nd
Alexi continued until finally he reached the duct for where Gibbs was located. He saw him laying in bed asleep assuming he was. Looking through the grate, he loosen it to see if he can move it without making all that much noise without waking him.
He noticed the guards were sitting down unaware with what was going on inside the room. While Special Agent Gibbs was asleep. Alexi moved on down to the floor planting his footing. He decided with his weapon in hand to try and choke him first with a pillow that was sitting on the chair in the corner of the room.
Just when he was going for the kill with the pillow. Gibbs woke quickly knocking the pillow and Alexi to the floor. However he rebounded quickly with his weapon. However both guards heard the noise opening the door. Alexi with his quick reflexes fired his weapon four times hitting them point blank range.
Gibbs using his strength as much as possible was fighting him off as Alexi used brute force hitting him in the head making Gibbs cry out in pain. He finally realized that the sig was under the pillow and grabbed for it. Alexi hit him again throwing Gibbs off balance. He was able to fire three shots in rapid concession with Alexi dropping to the floor and several hospital personal, Fornell and other police authorities.
Gibbs collapsed in his bed in pain while trying to catch his breath. Fornell came in to check the pulse of Alexi while the ICU doctor came in to check the patient showing great signs of distress as with his heart rate and blood pressure.
Gibbs tried to talk when he saw Fornell say the following..."He's alive maybe we will be able to get a statement once his wounds are taken care of." Doctor Jenkins ordered to have the suspect taken to surgery to try and save his life along with the two security officers. Currently it was complete kaos for the time being with trying to have the ICU personal remove the two guards and the suspect to the operating room with all staff to head there.
Catching his breath with Doctor Jenkins checking over him to notice the blood on the side of his head. "What took you so long Tobias?" He says with the doctor placing compression bandage on the wound for now.
"I was in the area Gibbs, but I didn't think that Alexi would be this smart to use the air ducts to get to you this way. If he survives, maybe we will find out just who gave the order to kill you." He stated with rubbing his hand over his almost bald head.
"We know damn well who gave the goddamn order to kill me Tobias!" Gibbs was angry along with his entire body was hurting and including the onset of a wallop of a headache from being knocked around.
"True Gibbs. We will arrest him soon once we are sure about those involved in the operation. I have agents working on that aspect of it along with keeping an eye out on Captain Brighton." Fornell says with watching the doctor check the rest of Gibbs body for any further injuries. "Doctor Talf is going to have a field day with you once he finds out what has happens."
Doctor Jenkins looked up to say the following. "Doctor Talf has already been notified about his patient. He should be here shortly after coming from the safehouse earlier."
Gibbs mumbled under his breath not liking the idea that Doctor Talf will be driving him crazy with questions and of examination of his body as well for which he hates. "Tobias, I don't want you going after Brighton alone." He said to have Fornell's attention.
"I won't be going alone Gibbs, I will have my agents coming with me to the regional office."
"No you won't, I am going Tobias. I will tell you later my plan while I try to convince Doctor Taft to fix me up the best he could so that I can get out of here." Gibbs said.
"Are you out of your mind trying to get out of here in the condition you're in right now?" Fornell was pissed as hell with his long time friend. He wasn't 30 years old any longer trying to play the cowboy once again.
"Try me Tobias! I have a score to settle after what he has done as with all of the others that are either in prison or dead." It was at this particular moment Doctor walked in shaking his head while removing his glasses for a moment.
"I can't take you anywhere Special Agent Gibbs." He joked even though no one was taking it as a joke. "Damn! I need to check you out for any further injuries."
"Doc, I need you to patch me up quickly to get me out of here, I have a date with destiny." He exclaimed with Taft not understanding his meaning for the moment. "I will explain while you're fixing me up along with giving me a stronger pain killer so that I can function."
"You are crazy Gibbs! However I will fix you up, however once this is over with whatever you're going to be doing. I want you to call me right away so that I can get you back into the hospital. Do I make myself clear?" He responded with anger in his tone of voice and the shake of his head.
"Yeah, I do very clear Doc." Taft went to work on his patient, while Fornell went to check for an update on Captain Brighton. He was hoping that he doesn't make a clean getaway with heading for the airport. He was the key man in the operation, even though no doubt he's been in contact with Wynn Crawford in prison.
