Chapter 19:

Percy's P.O.V

Jason was obviously pranking him.

"Umm.." Percy laughed nervously. "What?!"

"I said...Annabeth is dead," Jason said, looking dead serious.

Percy felt a pang hit his heart. Jason had to be kidding. "Y-you're kidding, right?!"

Jason sighed sadly. "No, bro, I'm really not."

Percy's heart fell as he realized that Jason wasn't pranking him. But how…? How could Annabeth possibly be dead?

Jason's P.O.V

"Zeus..umm, killed her. Sh-she was the waffle thief all along," Jason wildly invented. Jason couldn't even describe how bad he felt for hurting Percy like that. He knew that Annabeth meant everything to Percy, and even more than everything.

Percy looked like he was on the verge of tears. "J-Jason, if this is a prank, please-"

"It's not a prank," Jason had to force out every single word he was saying.

A tear rolled down Percy's cheek. "I..NO!"

"Yes," Jason put a comforting hand on Percy's shoulder. Percy slapped his hand away and glared at him.

Jason was taken aback. "What did I do?"

"YOU'RE LYING!" Percy screamed, positively crying now. "Annabeth would never steal a waffle!"

"Isn't that what we all thought?" Jason sighed.

"But-that means," he stuttered, unable to grasp the next words.

"Yeah, we can go back home!" Jason said brightly.

"NO!" Percy yelled. "It means we have to find Zeus and give him a piece of out mind-"

Jason sighed. "Percy, look I know your angry, but we can't just-"

"YES, WE CAN!" he shouted. "EVEN IF SHE DID STEAL THE WAFFLE, ZEUS CAN'T JUST KILL HER!"

"Look-" he started gently.

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!" Percy cried. "AND TO THINK THE LAST THING I SAID TO HER WAS THAT-THAT-" Percy burst into tears.

"Sorry," he said quietly.

"What are YOU sorry for?" he blurted out, his face stained red.

"I-" Jason hesitated. "Never mind, I just can't imagine what it feels like for you!"

"JASON I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT HER!" he burst. "I'D RATHER DIE."

"I know you don't mean that literally, bro," Jason said gently.

"I DO!" he cried harder than ever.

Suddenly, before Jason could stop him, Percy pushed him aside and ran into his room.

"WAIT, DON'T GO TO THE CLOSET!" Jason yelled in panic.

Then he covered his mouth in horror, realizing what he'd just said. Thank the gods (well all of them except certain ones) that Percy was too occupied to listen. Apparently he hadn't heard.

But a wave of shock coursed through him as he realized where Percy was heading. Percy was running to the balcony at the corner of his room.

He called out a second too late, realizing what Percy was about to do. "PERCY, NO!"

Percy looked back at him one more time and managed a sad, watery smile. "I'm sorry bro. But if she can't live, then I won't either."

"PERCY, NO!" Jason sprinted towards him. But he was too late.

Percy jumped.

"START BROME FOR THE HONOR OF ME!" he called as he fell. Jason watched in horror as the remains of his bro disappeared forever.

And that was the last of Percy Jackson.

Jason was having a mental panic attack. And also a physical one.

How the heck was he supposed to explain this to his friends? Percy and Annabeth both dead in one day?

Jason remembered Percy's last words and tears started to form in his eyes. Brome…

He and Percy were hyped about Brome. And now he would have to start it by himself, without his bro beside him.

He slowly walked out of his room and down the hall. On the way, he ran into Piper.

"Aa!" he yelped in surprise. Then he blinked and sighed in relief. "Oh, it's just you."

Piper raised her eyebrows. "Are you okay?"

"Y-yeah," he lied. Piper clearly didn't believe him, but decided to let it go.

They walked to the dining hall together, Jason saying silent or just shrugging in response to whatever Piper said.

After the tenth shrug, Piper stopped walking and stared at him."Hey, what's wrong with you?" she asked, a concerned look on her face.

"Nothing," he lied, walking into the dining hall, Piper following behind, still looking confused.

He gulped. He had been dreading this. It was time to tell everyone the news.

"Hey, where are Percy and Annabeth?" asked Frank, making Jason jump.

Piper narrowed her eyes. "What's wrong, Jason?"

He swallowed the lump in his throat. It was now or never.

If Annabeth dies, Percy dies with her! Thats what I learnt from the House of Hades. anyways, don't kill me (lol) and please review :D
