In the shield I could see her eyes, dark with anger, but also confused to why she had doubled over. I gripped my shoulder as I looked inside of her, begging her to tame the beast. Trying to communicate that she needed to stop fighting without using words. The wound bled where the guard had stabbed me, but it didn't hurt nearly as much as the thought of her losing herself completely. She seemed so small and frightened despite the fact she had grown double in size. Her body began to shrink to her regular size, the scales began to fade away as she held my gaze. I could see tears beginning to form as mine had already begun to flow. I reached for her with my mind, praying that she could hear me. Whispering that I was here for her, that I'd get her out of here. It wasn't until I noticed a giant golden sword being raised, with Cage holding it in his blood stained hands, that I reacted.
"Clarke! Look out!" I shouted. Her head whipped around so fast, dodging his deathly blow. Her dress ripped as the sword cut into it. He began saying something to her but it was drowned out by the man charging at me, sword raised, ready to kill. I combated his blow with my own jagged sword, holding him off as best I could before kicking him down, an arrow sailed through the air buzzing behind me. Barely missing my head. I used all of my strength to hurl my lightning sword at the assailant, piercing him through his armor. My breath became labored as I ran to retrieve it. The madness within the throne room raged on, people falling, people fighting, desperation at its worst. As I grabbed it I noticed she had more blood on her, Cage's dagger twisted into her leg, she didn't scream though. She would never give him that gift. She'd deny him until her last breath. He kicked her down, I knew what was coming soon. The final blow. She was yielding, too weak to continue on, blood spread over the floor into massive puddles. I wasn't about to let him win. I wouldn't let him take her from me. I sprinted over to her as fast as my feet would carry me, jumping in front of her just as the sword came down.
