Part Twenty Four
The police arrived quickly to the house followed by a worried Kitty and Red,
"Oh my Steven! Wheres the girls?"
"Upstairs. Look officers how long will this take?! You need to catch them!"
"Longer than normal as your mother her won't talk to us" Hyde shakes his head,
"Please you have my statement! And Donna gave you hers you need to find them " Kitty watched as Hyde and red followed the officers outside before glaring over at Mrs Hyde,
"Well well nice to see your still causing problems for your son!"
"Whatever. Everyone blames me well that little shit just grassed me up! I'm as good as dead!"
"Excuse me! Steven has just been through a traumatic experience in his own home thanks to you! Why couldn't you just stay the hell away from that boy! He doesn't need you and the crap you bring with you! " Kitty turns and heads upstairs to find Jackie being comforted by Donna,
"Oh girls thank god your both unharmed!" She hugs them both and kisses the top of their heads,
"Kitty! Where is Steven?! Is he okay?! I should be with him"
"Hey now Shh Steven is okay red is with him now missy you need to rest up this little one needs mommy to be calm" Jackie bursts out crying rubbing her bump,
"Oh honey " Kitty holds her stroking her hair as Jackie cries.
Later that evening Eric was pacing his kitchen looking at the clock,
"Where you been? Uh Jackie? Hyde?" Eric looked confused as everyone entered the house looking serious,
" long story Eric " donna says exhausted while Kitty begins to make tea for everyone,
"Has something happened? You not in labour are you?"
"No. I think I would be screaming eric. We just uh need to stay ..." Jackie begins to cry making hyde pull her into him,
"Okay now I'm freaked whats going on?"
"Earlier Mrs hyde had two men who she owed money to come over to the house...she said Jackie was rich"
"What?! Did they hurt you?!" Eric panicks taking Donna's hand,
"No eric im fine"
"Well glad you are fine donna ! I mean you get to sleep in your own bed not wracked with guilt that it was your own damn mother that put your wife and child in that situation! " Steven stormed off into the sitting room Jackie slowly standing and going after him her eyes watering,
"Steven?" Jackie sat beside him taking his hand watching as he stares ahead deep in thought,
"Oh please talk to me Steven "
"I am sorry. Why are you being nice when I hurt you?!" Steven looked tortured which broke her heart ,
" Steven none of this was your fault! You are not to blame for your parents actions! I am not hurt because you and donna acted calmly and kept me and little Amber safe"
"But I should have known..." he placed his head into his hands ,
" Oh Steven " she snuggles into him as he remained in his position.
The next morning Jackie wakes to find Steven standing by the window ,
"Morning Steven " she says gently making him look over at her smiling slightly,
"Morning Jackie "
"You sleep?" Hyde shakes his head,
"I wanted to watch over you both"
"Oh Steven!" Jackie kisses him resting their foreheads together,
"I need to keep you safe . I cannot lose you "
"I'm not going anywhere Steven. We are here together. You, me and Amber" Steven placed his hands on her bump both caught up in the moment.
Kitty quietly made breakfast as Red sat and watched his wife concerned,
"You okay kitty?" Kitty nods her head placing food into the oven,
"Maybe I should go and check on them?"
"Kitty they will come down when they are ready" kitty sighs her eyes filling with moisture,
"I know. I just keep thinking what if they had gotten hurt...I love Steven like my own!" Red nods quietly when Jackie and Hyde enter the room hand in hand,
"Oh there you both are! Now you both sit down breakfast won't be long "
"Morning kitty. Oh thank you it smells good!" Steven helps Jackie into a chair before sitting down beside her,
" wheres foreman?"
"Over at Donna's. Listen last night Donna did not mean to upset you last night "
"No Mrs foreman I was out of line. I was just annoyed at myself and my mother " Jackie squeezes his hand lightly,
"Ow!" Jackie leans forward grabbing her belly,
"What?!"
"I think I just had a contraction..."
"Did your water break sweetie ?"
"No I don't think so"
"Red get dressed. Sweetheart get yourself sorted and we'll head to hospital. Might be Braxton hicks honey but we will check to be safe" Steven helps her up and walks her upstairs while kitty turned oven off and rushes to get changed.
Jackie lay on the hospital bed as Steven held her hand, whilst kitty and red sat quietly in the room. Jackie was scared and hoped if she was in labour it be over soon, the doctor enters smiling warmly over at Jackie,
"Hello Mrs hyde , how you feeling?"
"Okay the pain is fading slightly "
"Oh that's good. Your not in labour just braxton hicks . Do you know what that is?"
"Kitty told us . So I am not having the baby yet?"
"Afraid not. We will wait until your a bit more comfortable then you are free to go home and rest"
"Thank you doctor " hyde shakes his hand as he strokes her hair ,
"Your welcome. I shall see you when I do!" He smiles leaving the room,
"See sweetie all is fine ! "
"Yeah just really uncomfortable!"
"Oh I remember well!" Kitty takes Jackie's hand both comforting her until she felt more relaxed.
Jackie is fast asleep on Steven's lap as they are in the basement, Eric, Donna and hyde watching telly when Kelso enters wearing his work uniform,
"Hyde your who I have been looking for "
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah I was in work and I overheared my bosses say that they caught the guys that trashed your place. Oh donna they have your card"
"Really? Are the police giving it back?"
"They will be tonight. But listen you act like you don't know i could get in trouble!"
"Thank God! What do you think happened to your mom?" Donna asks tensely,
"Don't know and don't care. She is dead to me " they all looked at the telly awkwardly as hyde looks down at his beautiful sleeping wife that looked peaceful for the first time in weeks.
