Wanheda Part 2
Toby POV
"I'm not leaving you! We aren't tied together. You won't die if we're apart for a few months." Bria shouts at me.
She's leaving for a university course for three months. I cannot believe that she didn't talk to me about it before. She's leaving in two days and only just decided it would be worth mentioning.
I cross my arms angrily. "You have had weeks to tell me about it! Why wouldn't you mention it before now!"
"Because I knew you would react like this! You're such a child!" She puts her hands on her head and turns away from me. "I knew you wouldn't want me to go."
"How could you possibly know that? You didn't bother to find out!" I sit on her bed and stare at the back of her head. "I would have been happy for you! I would have been proud of you!"
"Would have been Tatianna. You're saying would have been." She turns slowly and looks at me out of the corner of her eyes. "That's not the same thing as saying you are proud."
"I don't know what to think! You didn't trust me enough to tell me about it!" I raise my arm as if to reach out to her. "I thought you knew me better."
She sneers. "Don't try to guilt trip me. I knew you would have resented the opportunity I got! Just because you're always going to be stuck in this tiny town, doesn't mean the rest of us have to be!"
My mouth drops open and her eyes go wide when she processes what she said. "Well if that's what you think then maybe I should just go." I say coldly.
"Toby wait-"
I put my hand up to stop her. "No. I'll see you in a few months Bri. If you decide you still want to talk to me."

I toss and turn, kicking the sheets of my sweating body while my fan does it's best to keep me cool in the hot summer air. I finally give up and swing my legs over the edge of the bed. I drop my head into my hands and push my hair up into a bun.
I stand up and quietly open the door to my room, I creep down the hallway to my parents room and slowly open the door. Both my parents are snoring and the oppressive summer heat doesn't seem to bother them. I creep over to my mom and shake her awake. She jolts up and blinks awake as her eyes strain to focus on me in the dark.
"Tati, what's wrong?" She asks groggily.
"I can't sleep." I cross my arms over my chest and look at my feet. "It's too hot and I can't fall asleep."
She shakes her head, frustrated that I woke her up for nothing. "What do you want me to do about it?"
"Do you have anything I can take to make me fall asleep?" I whisper, trying not to wake up my dad.
She stands up and walks to the bathroom. She picks up a bottle and shakes a pill out of it. "Here. You only get one so if it doesn't work then that's your problem." She hands me the pill and gets back into bed. "Now go away."
I thank her quietly and slink back to my room. I grab a cup of water from the bathroom and swallow the pill. I tuck myself back into bed and drop my head on the pillow. Slowly my eyes drop shut and I feel sleep roll over me.
Wish I would have known that was the last time I would be in my normal life.
***Author's note: Hey guys! Hope you're all doing well. I realized rewatching this episode that I wrote myself into a corner by not including her in either of the groups. Rather than having her wander around camp for a few hours I thought I'd give you a brief glimpse into the moments before her old life ended. Sorry it's so short. I'll be back soon with the next chapter.***
