As the Dark Ocean was ready for a battle of the ages, back in Odaiba, all were still waiting and wondering what would happen next.

The skies suddenly became dark and the sound of waves crashing along a shore could be heard from the station off in the distance.

"Huh? What in the world?"

Tai was the first to notice the change, and as he made his way outside, he was taken back by the appearance of the nighttime sky.

Ripples formed in the sky, and as thought it was ripping open the universe, the sky parted, giving off the illusion of what was happening in the Dark Ocean.

"Guys, come check this out – we can see them fight!"

Tai's hollering reached everyone from inside and as they made their way out, all were left dumbfounded at what occurred.

"This is just like last time," Hiroaki said as Nancy approached him.

"Very similar," she added.

"What is…what's that?"

Matt's question was answered by a bystander in a robe with his hoodie up.

"That, my friends, is Dragomon – the DigiDestined's ultimate test."

With that, the hoodie was removed, revealing the person inside.

"Gennai?" Tai was left flabbergasted.

"What are you doing here?" Sora asked.

"I'd figure I could give some background on what's been occurring. So, the DigiDestined who are there right now just figured out the power of DNA Digivolution – with that, they now have three Ultimate's against one beast."

The sky foretold Gennai's speech as Silphymon, Shakkoumon, and Paildramon all stood in unison, looking at Dragomon, ready for battle.

"Okay, so there's a chance they can win?" Joe asked.

"Anything is possible at this moment in time," Izzy commented.

"They either win or die trying."

"Gennai! You're not serious, are you?" Mimi asked.

"I'm afraid I am; Arukenimon was killed by Dragomon, and Mummymon was moved back to the Digital World away from the action."

"Oh, man…"

The older teens and the parents were all left silenced as they looked upon the sky. Only one thought was running through everyone's mind.

'I hope, then, that they win…'

Back in the Dark Ocean, the DigiDestined were as ready as ever for their battle.

"Okay, guys, this is it – all we have been working towards led us to this moment."

Before Davis could continue on with his pump-up speech, Dragomon let out a laugh that left him quiet.

"Sorry, but I find it cute that you think you can beat me. Even with your DNA Digivolved Digimon, you all don't stand a chance."

Davis shook his fists in anger – there was no way around it, this was going to be a tough battle.

"We got this you guys," Davis said, reassuring the group. "It's a three vs one."

"Davis," Kari said, "I love your enthusiasm, but it's three never trailed Digimon vs a Dark Ocean creature. It's going to be a hard battle."

"Yeah, well we never go down easy, right?"

Davis's question fell on deaf ears.

"Davis," Ken said, "our Digimon may die. This is a battle that we need to take seriously."

Davis turned towards Ken and sighed. "Do you want to take the reins this time?"

"No – you are the leader. You've done well up to this point; who's to say you can't lead us now?"

After Ken spoke, Davis turned towards the Digimon.

"Okay, are you guys ready?"

"I guess so," Paildramon said, "How about you two?"

Silphymon nodded, while Shakkoumon said, "Let's go!"

"Perfect," Dragomon said as he retrieved his trident, "then let's tangle."

Without another second wasted, Dragomon launched his Thousand Whips attack towards the trio.

The trio jumped back into the shallow waters, shielding themselves from the oncoming attack. Thankfully, Dragomon's whips landed only a few feet short.

"Here, let me try that again," Dragomon said as he moved onto the island before releasing his attack once more.

"Look out!" Silphymon said as he moved to the left while Shakkoumon moved to the right.

Paildramon was the first to suffer a blow as the whips landed square on its body.

Dragomon laughed. "This is going to be too easy."

As he readied his whips once more, Silphymon was the first on the offense to attack.

"Astral Laser," he said, duplicating himself and firing it towards Dragomon before it could release his whips.

The attack landed squarely on his right leg, causing the golden bracelets that were holding the tentacles together to break.

"Oh, impressive," Dragomon said as he retreated back into the water, and in a matter of a second, the bracelets were bandaging the legs one more.

Silphymon gasped. "How…how could you…"

"Magic."

"You might want to have some more tricks up your sleeve," Paildramon said, approaching the beast.

He wasted no time in unleashing his Cable Catcher attack, binding the legs of Dragomon together. With a huge tug of the wire, Dragomon fell back into the waters.

"Now it's our turn."

Shakkoumon unleashed his Kachina Bombs attack, sending the disks over to Dragomon's body. The disks collided with the Cthulhu Digimon, effectively cutting off his left leg above the belts.

Just as what happened with the golden bracelets, Dragomon made his way out into the waters and returned fully functional.

"Just…how?" Davis asked, stumped at how to fight the beast.

Dragomon laughed. "This is my domain – there is no way out, and there is no way to win."

"Gennai…what can they do?" asked Tai as he watched the battle; seeing Dragomon reappear unscathed had left the former leader wondering what else could be done.

"That'll have to be for me to decide."

"What do you mean?" asked Matt.

"I have the keys to victory for this battle – nobody is going to truly die. When the time is right, I'll appear by their side, ready to aid."

"…With what, exactly?" Izzy asked.

"That's for only me to know and for you all to find out in a little while."

Joe sighed, lifting his glasses and rubbing his eyes. "This is all a bit too much for any of us to handle."

"Yeah," Mimi said, "Why can't you go in now to stop Dragomon?"

"Because it wouldn't be right to give them the keys to victory when they are still healthy."

"So, what do you propose," Sora asked, "that they are down to their last count before saving the day?"

"Most precisely, maybe a bit before that."

The older DigiDestined groaned, not knowing when that time would pass.

"And you're saying we can't help?" Agumon asked.

"Correct – there is no digivolution you can go up to in order to defeat Dragomon."

The rest of the Digimon sighed, knowing that it'll have to be their friends to finish the battle.

"Okay, you guys…how about we—"

"I don't think that will work."

"You didn't even give me a chance to finish."

"Does it matter – does anything matter?"

"Yolei, stop, please let Davis finish his thought."

Davis sighed. "As I was saying before, how about we try to attack all at once."

"That…won't work," TK said, "we need to figure out a way to win, not prolong this battle any longer."

Dragomon laughed. "I can easily end this battle once and for all."

"Over our dead bodies!"

"…That could be arranged."

Before any more talking could occur, Paildramon summoned his Desperado Blaster attack, shooting bullets from the guns on his hips.

As they landed on the right squid-like arm of Dragomon, it disintegrated into the air.

"How about that for an attack?"

Dragomon sighed as he whirled around in the waters, sinking lower and lower into the abyss. Once his chin hit the waters, he sprung up, revealing his body in perfect condition.

"I'm really getting sick and tired of this," Ken said.

"Same here," Dragomon replied.

Without any more interruption, Dragomon summoned his trident.

"Now, who to take out first."

His smirk grew wider as he adjusted the direction of his trident, moving left to right.

"Ah, found it."

He threw his trident down and it landed a couple of feet short of Noriko.

"Hey, what's that for!" Davis yelled as he rushed towards his friend.

"My apologies, I was a few feet short of connecting. I should go after your Digimon though, right; would that be a better option?"

"Gennai!"

Tai had enough – when he saw the trident barely missing Noriko, he knew this was serious.

"If you cared, you would go in there now and stop this madness of a fight!"

A few seconds of silence lingered before Gennai spoke.

"You're right…you absolutely hit the nail on the head."

"You're glad we're close – otherwise, I'd knock you out."

"…What does that mean?" Matt asked, sounding offended.

"It means that we're…" Tai said but stopped, knowing well what Matt was alluding to.

"Before this gets any more out of hand, I'll go in."

Within a matter of a second, Gennai warped away from the older DigiDestined within a bright ball of white light.

"How about you fight our Digimon instead of killing one of us!"

Davis was engulfed with anger as his body was boiling blood.

"I could but you already know the harm that that could cause."

Dragomon laughed once more, infuriating Davis even more.

Suddenly, a bright ball of white light appeared in front of the DigiDestined, and they were all startled to find out who it was.

"Gennai!" TK cried out, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to provide some aid."

"Well, now would be a great time for that," Yolei said before continuing, "we're helpless against Dragomon. It seems like when we know how to win, he comes back ten times stronger."

"Enough!" Dragomon bellowed, "its time I finish you once and for all!"

As he readied his trident, he flung it towards Paildramon.

"No!"

Silphymon pushed Paildramon out of the way of the trident's projection, and as it landed in the waters, Dragomon screamed once more.

"You guys are making it hard for me to win!"

"What if we don't want that to occur?" Ken asked nonchalantly.

Dragomon sneered, "Keep acting like that, and you'll be the next to go."

"Nobody is going anywhere," Gennai said, "we are all staying in this domain of yours."

Before anyone could speak, Paildramon started to glow.

"Perfect timing," Gennai said as he wrung his hands together.

Paildramon, digivolve to…

As the data started to form an even bigger Digimon, Ken and Davis looked on in excitement.

"This may be the only way to win," Ken said.

Imperialdramon Fighter Mode!

Looking at the newly involved Digimon, the DigiDestined felt ecstatic – they could feel themselves winning this battle now.

"Gennai – was this all your doing?" Davis asked.

"I'll take a little bit of credit," he said with a smile.

"Okay, enough talk – its time to end this!"

Silphymon brought his hands together and formed a small ball of energy between them.

"Static Force!" he cried out, shooting the beam towards Dragomon's left side. The attack collided with his arm, obliterating it altogether.

"You know I could just—"

"Justice Beam!" Shakkoumon cried out as he shot infrared lasers from his eyes, aiming it towards Dragomon's midsection.

"Augh, no!" Dragomon cried as he was hit with the lasers, his torso now showing two holes.

"Time to finish you for good!"

Imperialdramon opened his mouth, allowing dark matter to form within it.

"Mega Crusher!" he cried out as he sprung the attack on Dragomon's body.

The Cthulhu Digimon cried out with a piercing scream as he was engulfed within the dark matter.

"Perfect! Now it's time to head home!"

With that, Gennai made a warp point similar to the way that he came into the Dark Ocean. As all Digimon and DigiDestined made their way into the point, the watched as Dragomon was defeated.

As soon as they were warped out, they didn't stay enough to witness one single eel slipping out from the dark matter and into the waters below.
