Auditorium
The teens filed into the auditorium for their first challenge as individual contestants, something they had been looking forward to since the beginning of the game. As they didn't want to show who their alliance was with, the teens made a conscious effort of sitting away from each other, spaced out by a few people in a few rows at a time.
Dustin was the last one to enter the room, and he sat on the end seat of the fifth row, a few seats away from Xavier. Once Chris saw everyone was here, he began the challenge and stood up at the stage.
"Welcome, campers!" He said.
"We're not campers!" Dustin yelled.
"Force of habit." He said unapologetically. "Anyway, you were given the task of finding a song or monologue that features a word you chose randomly out of a hat. Some of my best work, if I do say so myself. Today, we have some guest stars from our last season acting as judges to determine who gets immunity from this challenge. Please welcome our final three from season one, Neveah, Brandon, and Annalisia!"
Sami's eyes widened as everyone clapped and welcomed the three, who walked over to the stage, waving and sitting down at a judges table.
"Anything you'd like to say?" Chris asked them. Annalisia grabbed the mic on their judges table that was facing the stage, and looked behind her, facing the remaining teens.
"I'm really excited to be here! Total Drama Arts saved me in so many ways and the least I can do is come and be a guest judge." She said, smiling, looking back at all the good times she had.
"I can credit Total Drama Arts for changing my life, too. I gained some of my best friends and," Brandon grabbed Neveah's hand next to his, kissing it. "The love of my life. For that I am eternally grateful." Neveah blushed.
"I can't wait to see everyone perform in person! We have been watching every week and I was so honored Chris asked us to come and judge." Neveah said.
"Chris?" Naomi asked, raising her hand. "I'm sorry, I mean absolutely no offense, but why do they get to be judges when alumni are still here, some who were close to the three of them? Wouldn't you say it's biased if they choose one of them to win?"
Sami looked around, getting nervous as others began to nod in agreement with them.
"Fine. Sami, Shawn, Piper, no immunity consideration." Piper and Shawn's eyes widened. Chris didn't want to argue, and he didn't want to question her, he just wanted to move on.
"I wasn't even friends with them." Shawn said, pointing to the three alums.
"My show, my rules, and the rules can change at any moment." He said, getting back to business. "So, who wants to go first? Remember, your song cannot have the name you pulled out randomly in the title. Doing this is an automatic disqualification from the challenge."
Confessional Cam
Shawn: FUCK. Why did she have to say something? But you know, it's cool. I'm working with both sides. Nobody would want to vote me out, right?
Sami: I feel safe with Lizzy and Piper, but who knows, anyone can be after me or Piper, especially now that we're merged. *sighs*
Mickey: You mean I can't have the word love in my song title? Oh shit. I must have missed that. *laughs nervously*
Mickey raised his hand. "I will go first." He began walking up to the stage, ready to perform. He wanted to get the first performance over with so he wouldn't worry anymore, as he knew now he'd be disqualified. He got up to the mic, and began to sing.
"Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Someone to love
Somebody new
Someone to love
Someone like you
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Yeah, love me do
Whoa, oh, love me do"
Mickey smiled embarrassingly, looking at Shawn as he facepalmed, but took a bow as the teens clapped for him.
Chris cleared his throat. "Dude, the song is called Love Me Do. Sorry, man. You've been taken out of consideration for immunity."
Mickey walked back down to the audience, dejected and not wanting to hear it. As he walked down, Dustin walked up, and almost immediately, began to sing at the mic.
"Well I can see that you and yoga will never do
Yoga is as yoga does there's no in-between
Your either with it on the ball or you've blown the scene
I can see lookin' at you, you just can't get settled
How can I even move, twistin' like a pretzel
Or you've blown the scene
Come on come on, untwist my legs
Pull my arms a lot
How did I get so tied up
In this yoga knot
You tell me just how I can take this yoga serious
When all it ever gives to me is a pain in my posteriors
Or you've blown the scene
Stand upside down on your head, feet against the wall
A simple yoga exercise done by one and all
Now cross your eyes and hold your breath, look just like a clown
Yoga's sure to catch you if you come falling down
Or you've blown the scene
Or you've blown the scene"
The audience clapped for Dustin as he stood and took a bow, proud of how he performed. He would never say it, but he was glad he finally had a chance to make some friends on this show and was looking forward to his partnership in the all-guys alliance. Back home, he didn't have friends and would normally be seen alone. He walked off the stage, and Piper came up. She got set up and the track began to play for her song.
"Mama, I could use some help here
Tired of talking to myself here
Back at home, you don't exist
So here I am in the abyss
Are you really in this place?
It's like the emptiness of space
I could search for all eternity
And never see your face
Help me out
I'm lost without you
Standing
Stuck on this impossible road
No idea which way to go
Whichever path I choose
I lose, you know
And I don't know which way's home
I don't know which way's home
You always saw life as a game
But since you left, it sucks to play
I'm beaten up and bruised
Confused by rules that alter every day
Where to next?
You left but I'm still standing
Spinning on this infinite road
Terrified of letting you go
No light above and there's no hope below
And I don't know which way's home
Mom, I've got my heart in my hand
Speak to me and I'll understand
One little word to know I'm not alone
And show me the way back home
Is there a way back home?
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
The nothingness ahead of me
Is this the end you meant for me?
Every living minute
There's no home without you in it
I'm falling
Quit stalling
Your daughter is calling your name
I've burned all my bridges and games
(spoken) Mom?
I don't wanna forget you
I promise
I'm never gonna forget you
I'm gonna go back home
Adam, Barbara, Delia and Dad
It's messy but they're all that I have
I'll make the best of being flesh and bone
Mama, I'm going home
Yeah
Mama, I'm going home
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'm going home...
Mama, I'm going home"
The teens applauded Piper for her commendable performance, not used to seeing her in this light. Piper was a much better performer when she was genuine. She walked off the stage, and Xavier followed behind her. He was doing a monologue, so he set himself up at the mic and began speaking almost immediately.
"You wouldn't understand yet, son, but your daddy's gonna make a transaction…a business transaction that's going to change our lives…That's how come one day when you 'bout seventeen years old I'll come home and I'll be pretty tired, you know what I mean, after a day of conferences and secretaries getting things wrong the way they do…'cause an executive's life is hell, man–And I'll pull the car up on the driveway…just a plain black Chrysler, I think, with white walls–no–black tires. More elegant. Rich people don't have to be flashy…though I'll have to get something a little sportier for Ruth–maybe a Cadillac convertible to do her shopping in…And I'll come up the steps to the house and the gardener will be clipping away at the hedges and he'll say, "Good evening, Mr. Younger." And I'll say, "Hello, Jefferson, how are you this evening?" And I'll go inside and Ruth will come downstairs and meet me at the door and we'll kiss each other and she'll take my are and we'll go up to your room to see you sitting on the floor with the catalogues of all the great schools in America around you…All the great schools in the world! And–and I'll say, all right son–it's your seventeenth birthday, what is it you've decided?…just tell me where you want to go to school and you'll go. Just tell me, what it is you want to be==Yessir! You just name it, son…and I hand you the world!"
As he finished, he nodded to indicate it, and the teens clapped for him. He smiled as he began to feel proud for getting this far and for his performance today, hoping Janice was out there somewhere watching him perform and was proud of him. He stepped off the stage, and Naomi stepped up, getting the mic ready, and beginning her song.
"I'm closer to the Golden Dawn
Immersed in Crowley's uniform of imagery
I'm living in a silent film
Portraying Himmler's sacred realm of dream reality
I'm frightened by the total goal
Drawing to the ragged hole
And I ain't got the power anymore
No I ain't got the power anymore
I'm the twisted name in Goebbel's eyes
Living proof of Churchill's lies, I'm destiny
I'm torn between the light and dark
Where others see their targets in divine symmetry
Should I kiss the viper's fang
Or herald in the death of Man
I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore
Don't believe in yourself
Don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah
I'm not a prophet or a stone age man
Just a mortal with potential of a superman, I'm living on
I'm tethered to the logic of homo sapien
Can't take my eyes from the great salvation of bullshit faith
If I don't explain what you ought to know
You can tell me all about it on the next Bardo
I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore
Don't believe in yourself
Don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah
Don't believe in yourself
Don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah"
The teens applauded for her as she gave a curtsy, not being used to this kind of style for her singing range, but liking what they heard. She smiled as she walked back down to the seats, and Lizzy came up on the stage. She was doing a monologue and adjusted the mic to her height, then began speaking.
"Don't you think I can stand the sight of blood? You think I am weak. Oh, I should like to see your blood flowing—to see your brain on the chopping block, all your sex swimming in a sea of blood. I believe I could drink out of your skull, bathe my feet in your breast and eat your heart cooked whole. You think I am weak; you believe that I love you because my life has mingled with yours; you think that I would carry your offspring under my heart, and nourish it with my blood—give birth to your child and take your name! Hear, you, what are you called, what is your family name? But I'm sure you have none. I should be "Mrs. Gate-Keeper," perhaps, or "Madame Dumpheap." You dog with my collar on, you lackey with my father's hallmark on your buttons. I play rival to my cook—oh—oh—oh! You believe that I am cowardly and want to run away. No, now I shall stay. The thunder may roll. My father will return—and find his desk broken into—his money gone! Then he will ring—that bell. A scuffle with his servant—then sends for the police—and then I tell all—everything! Oh, it will be beautiful to have it all over with—if only that were the end! And my father—he'll have a shock and die, and then that will be the end. Then they will place his swords across the coffin—and the Count's line is extinct. The serf's line will continue in an orphanage, win honors in the gutter and end in prison."
Lizzy gave her nice-girl smile as everyone clapped for her, proud of being able to show off her acting skills for once. She left the stage, and Lila came up, ready to sing.
"You walk into the room with your pencil in your hand
You see somebody naked and you say, 'Who is that man?'
You try so hard but you don't understand
Just what you will say when you get home
Because something is happening here but you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
You raise up your head and you ask, 'Is this where it is?'
And somebody points to you and says, 'It's his'
And you say, 'What's mine?' and somebody else says, 'Well, what is?'
And you say, 'Oh my God, am I here all alone?'
But something is happening and you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
You hand in your ticket and you go watch the geek
Who immediately walks up to you when he hears you speak
And says, "How does it feel to be such a freak?"
And you say, "Impossible!" as he hands you a bone
And something is happening here but you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
You have many contacts among the lumberjacks
To get you facts when someone attacks your imagination
But nobody has any respect, anyway they already expect you to all give a check
To tax-deductible charity organizations
Ah, you've been with the professors and they've all liked your looks
With great lawyers you have discussed lepers and crooks
You've been through all of F. Scott Fitzgerald's books
You're very well-read, it's well-known
But something is happening here and you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
Well, the sword swallower, he comes up to you and then he kneels
He crosses himself and then he clicks his high heels
And without further notice, he asks you how it feels
And he says, "Here is your throat back, thanks for the loan"
And you know something is happening but you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
Now, you see this one-eyed midget shouting the word 'Now'
And you say, 'For what reason?' and he says, 'How'
And you say, 'What does this mean?' and he screams back, 'You're a cow!
Give me some milk or else go home'
And you know something's happening but you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
Well, you walk into the room like a camel, and then you frown
You put your eyes in your pocket and your nose on the ground
There ought to be a law against you comin' around
You should be made to wear earphones
'Cause something is happening and you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?"
Lila smiled as she gave a curtsy, lifting her skirt as she curtised, and watched as everyone clapped for her. She left the stage as Sami came onstage, and started singing.
"Please sit down, just talk to me
We'll see if we can talk this through
I've tried so hard to understand it
Just tell me something that's close to the truth
I'd rather you were cruel than kind
Is all that I'm demanding
I've given up on peace of mind
For the open wound of understanding
You can't be here and someplace else
If your mind is in that other place
You're trying to convince yourself
But you're lying in my face
I've listened 'til my head would spin
I don't want half of anything
The sand sits in the hourglass
Time slips through our fingers fast
Your counterfeits deceived me
If you can't love me this way
Then you must leave me
Tell me how it came to this
Just don't think to spare me this
Perhaps the truth can set us free
From the half truths ensnaring you and me
This black hole of intensity
Collapses on its density
And sucks me to a darker place
That hides behind a broken face
Keep up appearances as they say
And all those reasons you might stay
Ring hollow in my mind today
I've listened 'til my head would spin
I don't want half of anything
I don't want half of anything
The fields are sown with seeds of doubt
The wine is warm, you spit it out
This drinking won't relieve me
If you can't love me this way
If you can't love me this way
If you can't love me this way
Then you must leave me
The patterns in the distant stars
Our fates upon a loom
The changes in the temperature
When you walked into a room
The smell of your perfume
The taste of your skin
All those bitter reminders
Of the failed state I'm in
How do I breathe now, how do I inhale?
I'm a diver on the seabed, my oxygen's failed
How do I wake up, how do I sleep?
How do I laugh now, I can't even weep?
Where do I run to, where do I hide?
An insect preserved in formaldehyde
Yesterday's paper, its pages curled
How can I live in this broken world?
Keep up appearances as they say
But all those reasons you might stay
Ring hollow in my mind today
I've listened 'til my head would spin
I don't want half of anything
I don't want half of anything
The sand, it falls in the hour glass
And time slips through our fingers fast
And nothing that you say relieves me
If you can't love me this way
If you can't love me this way
If you can't love me this way
Then you must leave me"
She finished her song, looking down at the teens as she curtsied and saw them clapping for her. She smiled, leaving the stage as Shawn came up to sing the last song of the night.
"If you been out messin' and actin' a fool
You best be confessin' hey, don't be cruel.
Just callin' attention you probably know
Don't hold on to nuthin', it's time to let go.
Lay baby I want 'cha, I'm hurtin' so big.
Take out some insurance, and cover your rig.
We talkin' resurrection to shred your head.
That certain possession you keep in yo' shed.
Don't want to confuse you, muddy up yo' mind.
Let nothing abuse you or come from behind.
Say baby I want 'cha, I'm hurtin' so big.
Take out some insurance, and cover your rig.
If there's ever a question, take care of yourself.
Use your protection, be respecting yo'self.
Make no obligations, you can throw 'em to the wind.
Blind infatuations, the means to an end.
Say baby I want ya, I'm hurtin' so big
Take out some insurance, and cover your rig."
The audience clapped for Shawn as he nodded his head, then he walked off the stage. As he walked off the stage, Chris came up on the stage as the judges began whispering to each other who they believed should win.
"All right, the judges are currently speaking of who they'd like to win, so give them just a moment to make their choice." The contestants sat in silence, thinking about who they thought gave the best performance. After what felt like an eternity, Annalisia came up to the microphone on stage, ready to reveal the winner. He smiled and took a breath in and out, looking around at the stage.
"Wow, it feels really great to be back on the stage." Analisia said to herself. "Anyway, everyone did such a great job. It was hard to pick a winner, but it had to be done. Today's winner is…" She paused for suspense before announcing. "Dustin, congratulations! You are today's winner and now you have immunity."
Dustin stood up as the contestants clapped for him, happy that he's finally been recognized for his singing abilities. He felt really good about it, and working with an alliance made him feel invincible.
"Thank you guys so much for welcoming us back." Annalisia said. "And good luck to the rest of you all!" She looked at the camera. "I've always wanted to do this… Join us next time on Total Drama Arts!"
A/N: Thanks for sticking around while I figured stuff out! I just started school back and have been busy. It's just a five week session for class so I'll have a few weeks before I go back for the fall. Challenges are just a little difficult too, as I tend to lose motivation for awhile. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Please leave a review, and if you're an OC creator, who you would like to vote out. You can vote out anyone but Dustin. :)
