The next day the team sets up to continue working the case. Jane takes the time to call Maura.
"Hey babe" "Hows the case going?" Maura asn excited to hear from her wife. "Its going, but slowly." Jane replys. "How's our little guy doing? Jane ask while picking at the keys on her computer. "Hes great, I think he misses you as much as I do." "I'm sorry Maur I want nothing more then to be home with you two." Jane says sadly Maura catches on. "No Jane honey its alright." "I understand, the team is down a detective." "Dont worry my love Ethan and I will be here when you get home." Maura says with a smile hopeing that it helps Jane feel better. "Do you know if you will be late tonight?" "About that Maur." "Jane sighs it's going to be a late night." "I hate this." Jane says rubbing the back of her neck.
"Its okay Jane I know this is just as hard on you as it is me." "I dont want you wait up for me all night Maur." Jane says firmly. "Jane," Maura says before Jane cuts her off. "No Maur it could be 6am before I able to come home I want you to rest." Maura sighs "Okay love I promise I'll get some rest." "I have to go baby, but I love you and I will call you again before bed." "I love you too Jane please be careful." "Come home as soon as you can baby we miss you." "I miss you too Maur give our boy a kiss for me and tell him I love him." "I will love." They both hang up at the same time.
Jane puts her head down on her desk and groans. "Everything alright at home Jane?" Ask Korsak. "Yeah...yeah everything is fine." Jane says half smiling. "You can go home if you would like." Korsak offers. "No, we are already down a man you guys need all the help I can give." Jane says looking over the files again. Jane, Frankie and Korsak work well passed 11pm. Jane realizes the time and calls her wife again. "Hey Maur, I'm sorry it's so late." "Jane stop apologizing." "I'm just glad that you called." Jane sighs. "I think I'm going to stay a few more hours and then come home." Jane says with a heavy sigh. "That's great love, I'm sure I will hear you come in." I have everything ready for you to shower and get into bed." Maura says with a smile. "You are the best Maur, I love you so much." "I love you too sweetie" "Well this sucks but I have to go we had Frankie pull some more information on the victims." "I will see you in a few hours babe." "I'll be here waiting." Maura says with a slight laugh. " Maur, I love you. Jane says again before they hang up.
A few more hours pass and it's now 1am. "Alright guys I'm going to head home and go spend some time with my wife." Jane says with a smile. "Alright Janie see you tomorrow." Frankie replys.
Jane stopped at the Dirty Robber to grab a bite to eat before heading home. She ran into her cousin Gino and his wife. All Jane wanted to do was get home but she didnt want to seem rude so she stayed and caught up with them. "Shit!" Jane says. "Is it really 3am?" "Yeah I guess it is." Gino says with a grin. "Its been nice catching up with you but I have a wife and son to get home to." Jane says grabbing her jacket. "No worries cuz." Gino says. "Drive safe and kiss that baby for me!" he yells as Jane walks out.
Once home Jane trys to be as quiet as possible hopeing to not wake up her wife and son. She opens the side door slowly not noticing Maura in the kitchen she turns around after closing and locking the door.
"Your finally home" Maur says softly. "Holy hell Maur!" Jane says "You almost scared me to death." "What are you doing awake." Jane ask walking over to her wife wrapping her in a tight hug. "I couldnt sleep and decided to make some tea." "Well I'm glad you are up I've missed you so much." Jane says pushing her hands up her wife's silk shirt to feel her warm skin, planting kisses in all the right places not wanting to let go of her wife. "Well you are home now would you like some tea and then we can go to bed?" Maura ask sweetly. "How about we skip the tea." Jane says smiling pulling her wife into a very heated kiss. Jane melted at the moan her wife let out. "I'll have tea tomorrow." Maura says wrapping her legs around the brunette not wanting any space between them.
The next morning Jane is still asleep when Maura wakes to feed the baby. She slowly slides out of bed then makes her way downstairs with Ethan. She began fixing him a bottle when Jane's text went off. Maura took a look just incase it was one of the guys about the case that needed Jane's attention immediately but instead her heart sank. It was a text from a unknown number.
"Had a great time last night.!" Xx Addie.
Maura knew that there had to be a logical explanation. Once Jane woke and made her way down to the kitchen Maura was playing with Ethan. "Good morning Maur." Jane says giving a kiss to her wife and son. "You two are up early." Jane says smiling at their son. "Yeah." Maura says. "Little man here got hungry." "Jane can I ask you something.?" Maura ask. "Sure babe." "I mean you just asked me something but I suppose you can ask me something else." Jane says with a grin taking a sip of her coffee.
Maura sets Ethan in his bassinet before turning to face Jane. "Where did you go after work last night?" Maura ask. "I went to the Dirty Robber to grab some food I ran Into my cousin Gino and his wife we talked for awhile and then I came straight home." "Why, what's up?" Jane asked now standing infront of Maura. "You swear that's the truth.?" Maura asked with tears in her eyes. "Yes, Maur I sware that's the truth." Jane says looking confused. "Hey" Jane says in a soft voice. "Maur what's wrong?" "Why are you about to burst into tears.?" Maura walks over to Jane's phone opens up the text and shows Jane. Jane mumbled the text and her eyes got huge when she seen who sent it.
"Maur I swear I havent talked to her since that night when you and I got together." "Why would she text you that?" "How did she even get your number.?" Maura ask angrily. "I have no idea." Jane says dumbfounded. "Maur look at me." Jane says putting her coffee down then turning to lift Mauras head so she can look into her hazel eyes. "Maur, I love you I would never in a million years step out on you or our son." "I sware I have no idea what she is talking about or how she got my new number." "You didnt really think I cheated did you?" Jane asked hurt.
"No...I..I dont know Jane." "I seen the text and my heart stopped." "I got scared but after I processed it I knew you would never do that to me or our family." Jane stands still for a second a little hurt but then speaks. "Maur I love you, I dont want another woman." "You are they only woman in the world that I have eyes for." Maura smiles. "Thank you for being honest with me." "Always Maur. "You and Ethan are my life." "And no one will ever, and I mean ever change that." Jane says holding her wife close.
Silence fell between them for a moment. "Shi..oot!" Jane says. "Maur I know who the killer is." "I have to call Frankie and Korsak now!" "Wait Jane! "Who is it.?" Maura ask. "Maura its Addie!" "Are you certain?" Maura ask. "Yes I'm positive." "It all fits" Frankie! Jane says loudly when her brother picks up. "I know who the killer is." "Its Addie Clifton!" "Shes a woman I met years ago in a bar." "I dumped her the night me and Maura got together!" "Yes I'm sure!" "Let Korsak know I will meet you at the station." "Maura I love you but I need to see this through I have to finish this." "I'm done with people fucking up our life!" "Please understand" Jane says holding Maura close. "Jane, go." "Go finish this and come home." Maura says. "I love you Jane please be careful and come home to us." Maura says before Jane kisses her and runs out the door.
Jane rushed into the station to meet with the team. They found out where Addie is staying and are getting ready to head out. "Look guys" Jane says to her brother, Korsak and the other men on S.W.A.T. "We have to do this right." "She has killed 4 people so we know she is armed and dangerous." "Watch your backs and be safe." Jane says while strapping on her vest."Alright let's roll boys." Jane orders while putting on her aviators.
