'Be more Cal'. That was what he had said to his brother. He was going to be more like him. Diving head on into situations, no matter what the consequences. He even got a tattoo of the saying plastered on his leg. Something Cal would definitely do. He even got drunk. Again that was something Cal did all the time. Although, Ethan did end up regretting it later when he woke up on the day of Charlie and Duffy's wedding with a splitting headache. That was also the day when his brother said to him; "You got me for life, Nibbles" A saying that has haunted him ever since Cal was brutally murdered. Because now, Ethan didn't have him for life. He would never have his big brother in his life ever again. All because Cal died protecting him. Charged into a situation without thinking about what would happen. Until the very end, Cal was Cal. Definitely living up to the Knight name.

'Be more Cal'. That was what he started doing in the months following Cal's death. He didn't fully intend to be actually like Cal when it came to some of the more questionable scenarios Cal was famous for. But, shockingly Ethan did. He did something that Cal did all the time. Well, when he was drunk and before he met Taylor. Ethan had a one night stand. To make matters worse, not only did he have a one night stand, something that Ethan would never do, it was the person he had a one night stand with that made the whole situation a lot worse. Ethan had slept with the girlfriend of the man who had killed his brother. Indeed, he had slept with Scott's partner, Leigh-Ann.

How he got tangled up in the situation with Leigh-Ann was complicated. Or so Ethan told himself on many occasions. The start of the fling began when Leigh-Ann was admitted to hospital, in labour. At that time, Ethan assumed that she was just another patient, unaware of who she was. When Leigh-Ann refused to give birth in the hospital, Ethan questioned why. It was when she told him that the baby's father and grandfather had died at the hospital that triggered something in Ethan's conscience. Of course, it could have been any two of the thousands of patients who came through their doors, but her answer got Ethan worried. With his worry building, he pushed further by asking her the name of her partner. Something that he wished he hadn't had done. The guilt and anger Ethan felt when she uttered Scott's name came rushing back. Anger because he wanted to let her know what Scott had done to his brother but, then guilty because he knew that he had caused a baby to grow up without a father.

Realising the baby he had delivered was Scott's baby, he wanted to tell Leigh-Ann he had been responsible for Scott's death. However, he didn't. The guilt over what he had done to Scott forced him to believe the only way to amend his actions was to be there for both Leigh-Ann and the baby. A bond of losing someone they loved began to develop between them. At first Ethan thought he was just being a good friend. Helping her settling in a new place, helping her take care of Keegan. But, as time went on, Ethan felt a stronger connection between them. And he could feel that Leigh-Ann was starting to feel it too. The moment her lips touched his, Ethan knew it was wrong, but at the same time it felt so right. He knew he should have stopped her, knew he shouldn't have kissed her back. Nevertheless, he didn't. Consumed with guilt, he got lost in the moment and carried on. He told himself, what she didn't know couldn't hurt her. He was determined to make sure that Leigh-Ann never found out what he had done.
