Hello everyone! Welcome to the Bloodbath! Please read the chapter and don't skip to the end. I promise it's fairly short. Also, every POV starts at the same time, except for Kalmin's, who has an extra minute before the gong. So lots of stuff is happening at once, and not everyone sees everything.

Kalmin Brykman, 18

District 2 Male

The biting wind stung my eyes, preventing me from getting my first good look at the arena. When the tears cleared, I drank in the landscape. The sky was gray and cloudy, and we were standing in a grove of tall pines, high up on a cliff. The smell of the ocean drifted on the breeze, and I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks.

I craned my neck to look behind me. The landscape sloped down, and the trees were thick in every area except for an opening between two large boulders. The Gamemakers clearly wanted to bottleneck the tributes.

"Welcome tributes, to the 80th Hunger Games. Let the countdown begin!"

A hologram appeared in the air, beginning to count down from 60. I glanced to one side of me, locking eyes with Pascal, the boy from 5. His eyes were wide as he scanned the arena. On my other side was Anastasia, the girl from 8. She was turning to face the other way.

The Cornucopia was dull gray, glinting in the faint sunlight. Weapons were stacked inside, along with a plethora of other devices and supplies. I spotted Lir, a few pedestals down, and he nodded at me. The countdown reached its final stretch.

A loud gong rang out and I threw myself off my pedestal, sprinting towards Pascal. He stumbled off of his, giving me enough time to cut him off. Without thinking, I tackled him to the ground. His head slammed into his pedestal and he went limp under me.

I sat up and poked his cheek. No movement. His chest had stilled. I stood and left him where he was, sprinting towards the Cornucopia.

I stumbled past two fighting figures, not bothering to see who it was, and grabbed the mace that was leaning inside the Cornucopia.

Cloelia dashed past me, charging after Alann. I paused to watch her grab him by the shoulder and slam him to the ground. She kicked her boot into his face until he stopped screaming. I looked away from them as the blood began to pour and scanned the crowd again. Then someone slammed into me from behind.

As soon as the gong rang, I was off. At home, I placed second in nearly every race, but here, I could be faster. My life depended on it. I sprinted across the dewy grass and skidded to a halt by the Cornucopia, grabbing a backpack from the ground and slinging it on.

I grabbed two knives from a weapons rack and turned, sprinting back out. I ducked past Cloelia and whipped around, scanning the clearing for my best exit. I had a clear path, except for Kaysa. Carefully, I raised one of my knives and threw it. It sank into Kaysa's back and she crumpled.

After that, I ran. But I slammed into a short kid. Ceras stumbled away from me, eyes wide. Smirking, I raised my knife.

"Hollie!" Ceras screamed. "Help!" I kicked him in the jaw and pinned him down with my boot when he screamed.

Someone grabbed my backpack and jerked me back. I swung my knife, slashing through fabric but not making contact with skin. Hollie Loveland stood behind me, green eyes burning. Before I could move, she slammed her ax into my chest.

My legs crumpled and I collapsed to the ground, pain blossoming from my chest and filling my body. Hollie stepped past me as my vision faded. A single tea trickled down my cheek.

The gong echoed in my ears as I sprinted for the Cornucopia. A long hunting knife was lying on top of a crate just inside the entrance, and I had my eye on it. Distantly, I noticed Kalmin tackling a tribute to the ground, but my sole focus remained on the knife.

The second I reached the Cornucopia, I grabbed the knife and whirled around. My job was to flank the side, but with only one exit from the clearing, it'd be better to trap the tributes. I raced towards the gap in the rocks.

Wilhelmina stumbled into my path, tears in her eyes. When she saw me she staggered away, but I lunged forward and sank my knife into her chest. A wheezing breath escaped her lungs, and she collapsed.

I continued my sprint for the rocks, but Hollie and Ceras were also approaching. I threw my knife, but it sank into the ground behind Hollie's feet. She and Ceras vanished into the trees.

Cursing, I wrenched my knife out of the earth and spun on my heel, ready to take down another tribute. My eyes scanned the clearing. There. Anastasia was digging through a crate while Hesper kept watch.

I ran towards them and Hesper tapped Anastasia, pulling her back. I grabbed Hesper's hair as she tried to flee. Anastasia stared with wide eyes as Hesper whimpered in my grasp. I slid the blade of the knife across Hesper's throat and her body went limp. Anastasia ran, and I let her go.

Someone screamed and I turned. Seraphine was just drawing her twin sais out of Lir's corpse. Rage flowed through my body and with a howl of fury, I threw myself at Seraphine.

I jumped off my pedestal when the gong rang, but froze in panic as soon as I hit the ground. Where was I supposed to go? I didn't see Oren anywhere. And there was only one exit. Should I just run?

I staggered towards the Cornucopia, and a flash of light hair caught my eye. Oren was dashing in, ready to grab supplies. He ran right into Anastasia and Hesper, who grabbed him. While Hesper held his arms, Anastasia gripped his neck and snapped it.

I barely heard my own scream as Oren crumpled to the ground. I turned and ran, forgetting about supplies. I just needed to get out of here. I skidded to a halt when I saw the Career in front of me. Hiro raised a strange weapon and sank it deep into Tibalt's chest. He groaned as his body collapsed.

I stayed frozen in place until a sharp pain blossomed from my back. Slowly, I looked down. The tip of a sword was poking out of my chest. My eyes rolled back in my head as Maia's face flashed before my eyes. I barely managed to croak out her name.

Author's Note

Here it is. The bloodbath. I know it's not my best work, but I'm still excited to publish it. I'll post eulogies below, but they may be kinda short. I'm sorry if your tribute died, but I wanted a bigger bloodbath this year. I really hope you're not too upset with who died. I'm sorry!

If I could have improved in any way, please tell me in a review! It was hard for me to write it just because of the style I picked.

Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

- Fiona

Eulogies

24th: Pascal Glenn - Killed by Kalmin Brykman (broken skull after having his smashed against his pedestal)

Pascal was originally a finale contender, but I needed someone for Kalmin to kill, and since the Capitol suspected him of rebel activity, there was no way he could win. I'm sorry to Millie, and to Retronymph. I really liked Pascal, but this is where he had to fall.

23rd: Kaysa Baines - Killed by Sasha Macedon (knife thrown into her back)

Kaysa was a submitted bloodbath, and wasn't well-liked. I always knew she'd die early. I loved writing her a lot, and never got to show her full potential. I'm sorry to NessieTheMessy. I should have done better with her.

22nd: Wilhelmina Meyer - Killed by Wavecrest Lore (stabbed in the chest with a knife)

Willa was also a submitted bloodbath, and her death was hotly debated in the reviews. Nevertheless, she was destined to die here. I loved her a lot, and I hope she finds peace.

21st: Oren Fitzpatrick - Killed by Anastasia Valor (neck snapped)

I wanted a big bloodbath, and just didn't have many ideas for Oren, so that's why he had to fall. I loved him a lot, but it was his time to go.

20th: Tibalt Redmond - Killed by Hiro Kuromori (stabbed in the chest with a naginata)

Tibalt was the tribute I struggled to write the most. I knew he was a bloodbath for a while, and Nessie, I'm sorry I killed both your tributes, but you may not even be reading… But anyways, Tibalt was a struggle for me. He had to die here.

19th: Arian Roan - Killed by Lir Thornsen (stabbed in the back with a sword)

Sweet little Arian! I loved him so much, but without Oren, I didn't know what to do with him. I'm sorry matts0688, I really wanted to do better with him. I hope Hollie can still make you proud.

18th: Alann Cabada - Killed by Cloelia Ferro (nose broken into his brain)

Alann was a great tribute, but was not well-liked, and that was his downfall. Thank you for sending him in 20. I really enjoyed him.

17th: Hesper Monad - Killed by Wavecrest Lore (throat slit with a knife)

Hesper was a sweetheart who didn't deserve the Games. I loved writing her, but it was her time to go.

16th: Sasha Macedon - Killed by Hollie Loveland (axed in the chest)

Sasha was a tribute that very few liked. She was originally going to die later on, but it became a little too obvious, and I wanted to give Hollie a kill. At least you're back with your mom.

15th: Lir Thornsen - Killed by Seraphine Devereaux (stabbed in the throat and stomach with twin sais)

Lir's death was an emotional one for me. Dragon was a good friend of mine and I no longer have contact with her. Writing Lir was hard because of the emotional attachment, and I thought it was best to lay him to rest here.
