Keytoviktory: Thanks.
Chaos Snow Kitsune : I agree, thank you and yes.
Wizard Eternal : You know I just realised why Dumbledore's disappointed voice is so effective, I mean I felt that, like in my soul. Like I just felt that in my soul and confirmed the existence of the soul. Thanks for reading it means a lot, sorry if I have indeed not review reviewed your reviews in the past. Thanks again. Keep that Hermione away from me.
Hank1967 : Do you know what I love about you? You're just...there...like you're always there and I love you for it. Thank you and I hope you continue to enjoy.
Kragh50 : Pretty much yeah.
"What's happening to her?!" Ron shouted in a worried voice.
"Bloody move yourself." Harry sighed as he pushed Ron out of the way and began waving his wand over Hermione's body several times, eventually she stopped shaking. "Well...she will live." Harry said before he got up and picked up his grimoire. "We are going to want to take her to a hospital to see a healer." Harry said.
Harry felt like hitting a wall at this point, the one time he forgot to place some protective charms and wards on his room was the one time someone actually tried to come in. Of course Harry was not so much bothered by the fact that Hermione did it, he was more bothered by what could have happened if Sirius or Ginny came in and picked up his book and opened it without realising what it was.
"What happened to her?" Tonks asked.
"She activated the magical defences on the grimoire." Harry explained as Arthur levitated Hermione out.
"Will she be alright?" Fleur asked Harry as everyone followed after Arthur.
"She will live if that is what you mean." Harry responded.
Harry sat outside a hospital room along with Sirius, Fleur, Tonks and the Weasley's. Inside the room the healers were working on Hermione. Harry looked calm though internally he was upset about how Granger had just cost him hours of his life with a single act and was now tempted to just go and punch her unconscious face. If it was up to Harry then he would let her suffer but he doubted that Sirius, Ginny, Tonks and Fleur would be happy with that. They might not like Hermione but they were not yet at the point where they would leave her to Azkaban or death, which is why they simply told the healers that Hermione had unintentionally come across a dark artifact.
Plus Harry knew that there were other people who would suffer because of Hermione's actions that did not deserve to suffer, namely the muggleborns who were hated enough as it is without it being posted in the news that one of them tried to mess with a family grimoire.
"We can't tell anybody about this you know." Tonks said.
"Why not?" Ginny asked.
"Because she would get a straight trip to Azkaban if not a dementors kiss or a shove through the veil." Tonks answered, causing many of the Weasley's to pale.
"For trying to read a book?" Fred and George blurted out with shock.
"For trying to read a family grimoire," Tonks corrected. "it is bad enough that she tried to take something that is not hers but the fact that it was a family grimoire is going to piss a lot of people off."
"A lot of purebloods bigots would claim that muggleborns will try and steal our magic and knowledge, imagine what they would do if they heard about this." Sirius said. "Besides stealing is a crime, stealing a family grimoire is one of the biggest crimes of all. It gives you access to a family's history, personal history and personal things that the family would not want to reveal plus a bunch of other stuff including family magic. She is lucky all things considered."
"Lucky?! The poor girl is in hospital, how is she lucky?!" Mrs Weasley demanded.
"Do not speak like she was just an innocent victim," Sirius replied. "besides she is lucky. If Harry wanted to charge her then Azkaban or death, besides she is lucky that she didn't try and open a grimoire from a darker family. Some families like the Bones or Longbottom's would probably have a simple defence that would not create lasting harm, darker families like the Lestrange's would have deadly defences on theirs, if she had tried to do the same thing with them then the book would have killed them or hurt her worse if the family members did not do it themselves."
"Well the Potter family is a light family so..."
"No they are not," Harry cut Mrs Weasley off. "I have checked, my family has historically been a grey family."
"Excuse me," The healer's exited the room with the lead healer walking up to them. "we've done all we can to help her, but I am afraid that she has lost the use of her right arm, she will never be able to use it again." Mrs Weasley along with many gasped at that.
"Can we go and see her?" Arthur asked.
"Yes, of course." The healer replied. "I will be back in half an hour, do call me immediately if anything bad happens." He said before walking off. Everyone walked into the room to find Hermione sitting on a hospital bed, her right arm in a sling with her right hand looking thinner and paler than usual.
"Hermione!" Ron said as he rushed to her side along with all the Weasley's, Harry had instead closed the door and placed some locking and privacy charms on it. "Are you alright?"
"What do you last remember dear?" Mrs Weasley asked.
"I..." Hermione shook her head slightly. "I picked up the...the..."
"The Potter family grimoire," Harry cut her off, she and everyone in the room turned to look at him. "you know...my family book."
"It...it hurt me."
"It was meant to," Harry said in an unsympathetic voice. "you are not a Potter and therefore you were not allowed to read it. Tell me did the thought of there being magical consequences ever come into your head when you tried to read my family book?"
"I didn't know it was going to hurt me! All I did was pick it up and..."
"Do not bullshit me Granger," Harry cut her off in a deceptively calm voice. "the defences do not activate if someone merely picks the book up, it activates when someone tried to open it and read it. And I know you enough to know that you always read the titles of each book before you open them."
"Harry, she didn't know." Arthur said in soft voice, while he understood where Harry was coming from he still thought that Hermione had suffered enough.
"Does it matter? What matters to me is the fact that she entered my room without permission and read the one thing I told her not to read." Harry said, glaring at Hermione.
"Back off," Ron said, glaring at Harry. "you weren't like this when Ginny got possessed."
"If you are idiotic enough to compare an elven year old girl getting possessed by the worst dark lord of the centaury to a fifteen year old, nearly sixteen, girl with a reading obsession who willingly broke the law then fine but do not infect the rest of us with your stupidity." Harry said, though he did not look at Ron and instead chose to glare at Hermione the whole time.
"You owe Harry big time, you know that?" Tonks said to Hermione.
"What?! Are you kidding me?!" Hermione demanded with disbelief and a large amount of anger. "I can't use my right arm anymore! I am a right handed girl who can't use her right hand!"
"And you are lucky that you did not lose that arm," Tonks responded, unfazed by the girl's anger. "there are some darker families with much worse defences on their grimoires. Also you do owe Harry, first of all he and his godfather let you into their home and you repaid them by breaking into Harry's room and reading his family grimoire, something that is personal, the equivalent of killing a puppy as far as the wizarding world is concerned and a death sentence worthy crime as far as the law is concerned."
"D...death sentence?!" Hermione paled.
"Purebloods would not hesitate to vote for you being given a dementors kiss or tossed through the veil of death if they weren't going to send you to Azkaban for life." Tonks replied. "Like Sirius said to us outside, a lot of purebloods are of the opinion that muggleborns are trying to steal magic and knowledge from wizard kind, do you realise the backlash that would occur if people found out? Any efforts to help muggleborns would have likely gone down the drain if people learnt that a muggleborn who was graciously invited into a pureblood home decided to read the family grimoire of the boy-who-lived?"
"You don't realise how personal family grimoires are," Sirius said. "they are important to us for a large amount of reasons and it is considered one of the most heinous crimes to attempt to read a family grimoire. I am sorry Miss Granger but I can no longer have you in my home, when you are out of here I will pay for a room in the leaky cauldron if you need but you cannot stay under my roof." Sirius said, earning gasps and surprised looks from everyone. Harry managed to hide his enough to fit it under a raised eyebrow.
"But...but you can't!" Hermione said, tears in her eyes.
"I am sorry but I have to." Sirius said in an apologetic manner. "Ever since I have let you come into my house you have done nothing but complain and try and order me around, that was bad enough but you have also been bothering Harry and then you tried to read his family grimoire. I can't trust you in my house, what if you steal something? What if you try and read one of my family books and they are much less forgiving than Harry's book? I cannot watch you 24/7 and I am not having someone die or get injured again in my house. If you need help finding somewhere to stay for the summer or if you need someone to pay for a place for you to stay then I will help you."
"But you can't do that!" Ron protested.
"Well...it is his house." Harry pointed out, "as far as I am concerned Granger should be bending on her knees and thanking us both." Ron growled at Harry and moved forward to attack him only to be held back by Arthur.
"Calm down son." Arthur said, they're right." Arthur said, shocking Ron out of his anger which in most of the room's opinion was a good thing as Harry would have utterly destroyed Ron the second he got his wand out. "The Weasley family don't have a grimoire but if we did and somebody tried to read it then I would be demanding their arrest. Hermione is quite lucky that Harry is not pressing charges and that Sirius is still willing to help her find a place to go."
"Arthur you can't be serious!" Molly Weasley said and it was only the seriousness of the situation that stopped Sirius or Harry from making a 'Sirius-Serious' joke.
"Molly, blood feuds have been started for less." Arthur pointed out calmly. "Hermione lost the use of her arm because she did not listen, she is staying out of Azkaban and staying alive because Harry is not pressing charges and she will have a roof over her head when she leaves this place because Sirius is willing to help her. If we had a family grimoire and someone tried to read it then I would spit on their face, kick them out to never come back and then press charges. Quite honestly we should be thanking Sirius and Harry, most people would be as calm and nice as these two are being." Arthur pointed out, his face suddenly turning hard as he gave each member of his family a look that said 'don't argue'.
"Emotions seem a bit thick here," Harry commented. "perhaps me and Sirius should leave." Harry suggested
"Probably best." Tonks agreed. "You two go and take Fleur with you, I will stay here in case an auror presence is needed and I'll come and see you guys later."
"Okay," Sirius sighed. "come on guys." He said before he walked out with Harry and Fleur following behind him.
"Goddamn it." Sirius said as he flopped into a seat when the trio arrived back at Grimmauld place.
"Come on Sirius," Harry said. "it's not like it's your fault."
"It's my house Harry, I..."
"Your house yes, but it was my room and my family book." Harry pointed out. "I mean the one time I forget to put any magical locking charms on there and she goes in and try's to read my family grimoire."
"No, you told her not to mess with it and she did so..."
"So let's agree that it's her fault," Harry cut him off. "now you relax, get Dobby to make you some tea or whatever. I am going to go take Fleur on the tour of the house." Harry said before he turned to Fleur and offered her a hand. "My lady." Harry said, Fleur took his hand and allowed him to guide her upstairs and into his room.
"So...this is your room?" Fleur asked once she was inside.
"Yeah." Harry nodded. "I only moved in this house this recently so haven't really hand a chance to decorate it or anything." Harry said as he closed and locked the door before putting some silencing and privacy charms on it. "I really am sorry that the first time I brought you here was ruined." Harry said as the two sat on his bed.
"It was not your fault Arry," Fleur said, waving off his apology. "you did not ask her to read your grimoire and from what I understand you had already told her not to." She said as she placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, it's a powerful book." Harry replied. "If you're not a Potter and try to summon or levitate it or move it by magic then the built in portkey activates and it takes it straight to the Potter family vault, if you're not a Potter and read it then you...well you saw what happens." Harry said, all the while he could not help but thank his stars for the fact that he kept his other dark books in the Chamber of secrets, Gringotts and other places where Dobby fetched them for him instead of in his room.
"Quite interesting, thought today has been a hard day for you," Fleur said as she squeezed his shoulder slightly before her hand trailed down to his chest. "perhaps I can help brighten it up?" She said in a low voice.
"Oh," Harry said as his body shivered slightly. "how do you plan that?"
"Well," Fleur pushed him down so he was lying on the bed, she straddled him, taking her time as she did so. "like this." She whispered before their lips met in a passionate kiss.
A.N: Hi guys, short chapter I know but I promise next one will be longer. Also in the next chapter we will have Harry talking with Dumbledore, also I will either make him go back to Hogwarts in the same chapter or the one after, I have not decided yet. Also...yes I am going with Harry forgetting to lock his door, I think that is something that could genuinely happen. Remember that, yes Harry is a smart badass, but he is also still a teenager and it is possible for him to forget something like this, or at least it is in my opinion.
As for my update schedule, after this chapter will be damaged raven followed by one more for mm and Apex and then Trickshot. Thanks for reading and feel free to leave a review.
