Thomas and Allison wanted to return immediately to their coven to share the good news of their victory.
They have been picked up in Brazil by some other members of the coven who brought them back safely.
Lydia tacked along as she had no idea what do do next. She replayed Stiles' death over and over in her mind and couldn't stop her eyes to tear up everytime she did so.
She couldn't miss the satisfied smiles on Allison's and Thomas' face, however she couldn't bring herself to feel satisfied at all.
"The monsters are dead," she heard all over again, "we have finally destroyed them."
After a few days, Lydia found herself back in the room where it all began. Where Stiles was tied up, bleeding and John came to his rescue. Michendros, Lydia corrected herself. She was looking around, ignoring the conversation happening next to her.
"And so they just simply killed them!" Thomas exclaimed.
His mother looked very pleased and looked at Allison.
"Well, look at you, being not that useless in the end," she laughed and Allison smiled shyly.
"What about your magic, Thomas?"
"I think it might take a while before I reconnect... but I bet it won't take long. The vampire is dead, that means his blood magic has no chance to influence me strongly. I am sure I will be able to get out of it soon."
"Good to hear, Thomas," she said and left the room.
The coven invited them for dinner at the hideout before Lydia would leave home. She wasn't sure where to go. The apartment? Or maybe her father's place? At least for a bit. What would she tell him? That she and Stiles broke up?
Lydia tried to listen to the conversation the rest were having. It seemed to be quite repetitive. The (in Lydia's eyes) weird and slightly mean aunt of Allison's was proudly commenting Thomas' bravery who was restlessly re-telling the story, every time adding some embellishments while Allison was trying to be the dream niece who isn't that wothless in her aunt's eyes.
While Lydia silently observed this, she slowly realized that Stiles was probably right about them. At least to some degree. It was a pitiful show to watch.
Finally, they got to the dessert and Lydia was slowly looking forward to leave this wretched place.
Out of nowhere, though, a young man ran into the dining room, out of his breath.
"What are you doing, George?" The aunt asked, annoyed by his presence.
"You-you gotta go see this. They are here!" he blurted out.
"Who? Who's here? God, George, what are you up to again?" some other magician whom Lydia did not know asked.
"The monster and the vampire! They are here!" he cried out and slided down to the floor and kept sitting there. Allison's eyes regained her previous terror and hopelessness which she had during her involuntary stay at Stiles'.
"That's impossible. You must be mistaken." Thomas almost yelled, his face in disbelief.
"Where are they?" Lydia suddenly asked, standing up from her seat and approaching the man. The man didn't answer her, so she decided to find out on her own.
She heard her name being screamed after her, trying to stop her, but it seemed that nobody had the guts to actually follow her. To find them.
Lydia's first thought went to the room where it all happened.
That's the only logical place, why else would they be here? she thought and caught herself running. She felt good. As if someone lifted up a burden from her. She was glad that he's alive. She needed to see him.
At last, she got to the hall which lead to the room that didn't have a proper door. Only an opening in the stonewall.
At first, she couldn't believe her eyes. Two tall dark figures were standing above something. After Lydia blinked once or twice to bring herself to focus on the object, she recognized human parts laid out on the floor. Her gaze lifted from the obscure sight on the floor to the face who has just turned to her. The familiar hazel eyes met her light green ones and the world stopped for a moment.
