Chapter 19

Of Traps and Rage

'Im late! Kyoya-senpai is not gonna be happy.' Haruhi briskly walked towards the direction of the third music room, inwardly cursing for not noticing the time. She was doing some homework and lost track of her initial schedule, only to bolt out of her seat when she noticed that club hours had started half an hour ago already.

Falling into a light jog, the brunette turned to a hallway only to crash against someone.

"Oh no! I'm so sorry!" she apologized to the female student she bumped into.

The girl remained on the floor, wincing and softly touching her ankle. "Oh no, I think I might've sprained it."

'Kyoya-senpai will just have to wait.' Haruhi has full intention of helping this unlucky girl and the host club will just have to suck it up. Besides, she's pretty much sure everyone would understand, this is not far from the host club's integrity after all.

"Let me help you." She gave a hand and gently tossed one of the girl's arms over her shoulder, easily letting the student use her as a crutch.

"Should I take you to the infirmary?" she asked.

The girl shook her head, biting her lip. "I need to do something in the auditorium first. Is it okay if you help me go there? It's very urgent." Haruhi obliged and began hobbling down the corridor.

They reached the entrance of the room and haruhi pushed it open, casually peeking inside and squinting at the darkness.

"It's so dark in here. Are you sure you still want to go inside?" The girl was obviously uneasy but she nodded slowly, fingers clenching nervously at her blazer.

"Okay then." The two limped their way in, careful to not hit anything in the middle of the way. The door slammed close and Haruhi yelped.

"Ah- miss!" The body beside her swiftly pulled away and hands were suddenly holding Haruhi down.

"What the- who the hell are you?!" she twisted and yelled, trying to shake off the grip on her person. Their hold on her was strong and it wasn't long before her hands were tied together behind her back.

The lights went on and she clenched her eyes closed with a hiss.

"Nice to see you again Fujioka-san." Haruhi stiffened at the familiar voice and she glared from behind her bangs the moment her eyes adjusted to the sudden influx of light.

"Ayanokoji." She hissed. The red head stood with a smug smile on her face, a decent number of Ouran girls littered all over her sides like loyal soldiers.

The clacking of shoes reached her ears and the small army of females took a step back, forming a misshapen line as an unfamiliar girl walked right in the middle. She reeked of entitlement.

"Good job Seika-san." her voice was odd. It sounds pretty but it oddly grates on Haruhi's nerves. The unknown girl giggled and pinned the host with a wickedly sharp grin.

"Now, let's flush that blasted Higurashi out."

"Hey, you should take a break."

"Eh-?" Kagome turned to Ritsu, a spade in hand and a spritzer on another. "Ah-Thanks Rit-chan!" She took the offered bottle of water and took a big gulp, sighing at the cold liquid.

The sun was particularly harsh and everyone can feel the impending hold of summer grasping in, air humid and sweltering.

"Aren't you supposed to be practicing or something?" Rika asked from the other side of the clearing, digging some potholes for the new seeds.

Kagome stabbed the spade on the dirt and took another swig before answering. "Gin-kun gave me a free day today." She twisted the cap back on and leaned back on her heels. "We'll be continuing our training over the weekend on their family estate anyways so I'd say today is worth it."

"So you guys dating?" Minamoto piped up. Kagome looked at him in a deadpan manner, blue eyes aloof. The Kaisen heir sputtered at her. "What? I was just asking!"

"We're not dating. His adoring fans already have me on their hit list, I might as well sign my own death warrant if I ever try looking at him in that way." She took the potted plant Ritsu passed unto her and tapped the soil after depositing it in, frowning deeply at the thought of said girls.

"How about those group- host club was it? You dating any one of them?"

Kagome huffed and pointed her spade at the yakuza youngling. "What's up with your questions?" She then fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Don't tell me you're jealous Mina-chan?"

Minamoto paled before blanching.

"In your dreams Higurashi! I ain't interested in dating someone who can nag my ear off and kick my ass while at it."

Kagome smiled at him. "Thanks for the compliment!"

"It ain't a compliment!"

"Seriously though, you have your own damn harem." Rika leaned on his shovel and grinned roguishly. "Different guys everyday, - damn living the dream, girl." Kagome narrowed her eyes at him.

"Are you implying that you want your own harem? I'm so telling Yumi-chan." she laughed as Rika visibly stiffened.

"Oi!"

Ritsu rolled his eyes at his club members, lips spread in a small smile. It was nice, having them around.

"If you all must know, I'm not dating anyone and not interested in doing so, thank you very much." Kagome returned to her task, not noticing the shared looks of her three friends.

"So…" Rika began with an uneasy laughter. Minamoto leaned against his best friend, brown eyes sparkling. "What about the Host club? You ain't interested in any of them?"

Kagome huffed. "They're my friends! Of course I love them, but I don't want to date them."

"Any of them?"

"Any of them."

The three boys remained quiet and simply sent a silent prayer above.

Good luck Host club, you're going to need it.

"I'm so gonna watch how everything ends." Rika whispered to Minamoto. The blond delinquent snickered. "Poor bastards. We're in for a real treat." They were already jailed inside the Gardening club so might as well enjoy the ride while at it.

Suddenly, Kagome's phone rang, garnering everyone's attention. The blue eyed hostess took off her gloves and fished her phone out of her apron's pocket, flipping the device open.

"What is it?" Ritsu asked after a while. She turned to him and he shivered at the way her blue eyes were flashing.

"Im sorry Rit-chan but I guess I'll have to leave early after all." Even Rika and Minamoto felt the sudden disturbing aura emanating from their female member and they both straightened up from their relaxed position, suddenly serious.

"Oi, Higurashi- everything okay?" The girl stood up and folded her apron. She smiled at them but it was vicious and deadly.

"Don't mind me everyone." Her tone was low, enigmatic and oozing well controlled anger. "Just need to take care of some pests." She turned to her heel but stopped, one of her wrists caught in Ritsu's gentle grip.

"If you need any help, you know where to find us." He offered. Kagome peeked at him and genuinely smiled, touched at the support from the red head.

"Thanks Ritsu." And she was off.

The rest of the gardening club watched her walk away, silently observing how her form grew smaller and smaller until she vanished around a corner.

The atmosphere was suffocating.

Minamoto jabbed at his friend.

"Dig a deeper hole you bastard-" he dragged his hand across his face. "-someone is so gonna fucking die today."

Auditorium

Kagome looked up at the plaque above and pushed the door open, confidently striding in, not even flinching when the twin set of doors slammed shut from behind her.

"How nice of you to finally join us~" A girl greeted, smiling rancidly at her with rose painted lips.

Kagome flipped a lock of hair over her shoulder. "Don't pull that stunt on me." She walked deeper inside the spacious room, fearlessly approaching the circle of students(four of them) by the stage area- the only place lit with lights. "Where's Haruhi?"

Instead of answering, a slow, clack of heels echoed and Kagome narrowed her eyes at the advancing girl. Beautiful face. Impeccable clothes. Perfect posture.

An obvious heiress.

"Nice to finally meet you Higurashi Kagome."

"Likewise." She curtly replied.

The girl laughed daintily behind a porcelain white hand.

"I'm pretty much sure you're aware of your transgressions?" She circled around the ravenhead like a caged tigress, eyes ridiculing the commoner from head to toe.

Kagome scoffed and the girls around her tensed. "I'm not going to repeat myself." She glowered at the girls, pleased at the amount of steps they took away from her.

"Where's Haruhi?"

Suddenly, something whistled in the air and Kagome's head snapped to the side, ebony hair flying from the impact.

Did she just-?

Snickers erupted from the other students and Kagome licked her lips from behind the curtain of her hair, heart beating wildly at the urge to retaliate. Her fingers clenched together, digging deep against her palms.

"You're in no position to demand answers, Higurashi." Miharu hissed at the girl. She straightened, walking towards the edge of the stage.

"But I suppose I'll humor you." Miharu smirked. "Seika-san? If you please?"

The red headed senior stepped out from the shadows and shoved Haruhi's petite form, the brunette almost tripping from the sudden push. She was blindfolded. And tied.

Kagome took a deep breath, resisting the urge to let loose. Her blue eyes met Seika's steel ones.

The red head smiled.

"K-Kagome?" Haruhi called out.

"I'm here Haruhi." she answered.

Miharu walked closer to the helpless brunette and smiled sweetly at Kagome. "You wouldn't want anything bad to happen to your commoner friend now do you Higurashi?"

"If this is about Gin-kun, leave Haruhi out of this. Your problem is with me." The air shifted, and the girls around the vicinity squirmed, unnerved and more than intimidated.

She hasn't even started yet and they already felt threatened.

Miharu walked back towards her, heels clacking as she raised a hand. She left it hovering in the air however.

"I know you can defend yourself Higurashi-" Kagome stared unblinkingly at Miharu's face, running her tongue along the rows of her teeth. "-but Fujioka can't." Her hand swung down and the cracking sound of flesh striking flesh echoed along the wide space of the auditorium.

"Kagome?!" Haruhi shrieked. Seika held Haruhi down by the shoulders to keep the brunette in place and Haruhi began to struggle.

"I'm fine Haruhi." Kagome called out, thumb idly swiping at the blood that dribbled from the cut on her lip. "Just stay there and don't do anything stupid."

Miharu laughed. "You learn fast Higurashi." Another slap echoed, this time, on the other side of Kagome's face.

"Wait- Kagome, this isnt-!" Haruhi's words got cut off when Seika pressed her palm against the host's lips, muffling the string of protests from the brunette.

"Now, let's play Higurashi~" The group of four circled around the raven head, Miharu leading the entourage. "Normally I won't get my hands dirty, however-" Her fingers lashed out and caught hold of Kagome's thick hair, the smaller girl pulling harshly until some strands snapped at the harsh treatment. "-you really pissed me off. Acting so strong and mighty- you're just a nobody, Higurashi."

With a savage pull, Miharu began jostling the priestess, savagely pulling at the tresses until a disturbing sound of hair tearing violently was heard.

"Oh my, how unfortunate." Thick, uneven coils of raven hair fell slowly from the girl's hand, fluttering down the stage floor.

"You know, you can scream you know~ This place is soundproof after all - very nice choice I must say so, Seika-san."

Seika tipped her head, fingers tightening over Haruhi's desperate mouth. "But of course."

"Pfft-" Everyone swiveled surprised eyes at the hostess, caught off guard by the sound that erupted from bleeding lips.

Something ugly crawled beneath Miharu's beautiful face and she snarled. "What's so funny Higurashi?"

"Nothing, nothing." The wry smile that Kagome had was disquieting. It heavily contradicts the shimmering flecks of spite lighting up her blue eyes. She was in obvious disarray - bruised face, crinkled dress, hair in shambles - but yet, her presence was easily the strongest.

It made Miharu seeth in pure wrath.

"Hold her." She commanded.

Two girls stepped closer and hooked their arms under the Higurashi girl's limbs, holding up the hostess as Miharu advanced to teach the commoner a lesson.

The amount of hits Miharu delivered were unmeasurable, opened palms turning into closed fits until she was panting, sweat dotting along her brow as she stared down at the now heavily bruised priestess.

Still, blue eyes were burning with defiance and Miharu let out a piercing shriek.

"How dare you-" she hissed. "You have no right to look at me like that! I'm a queen! Bow down before me you peasant!"

Kagome turned and spat at Miharu's feet, blood and spittle nearly hitting the heiress' shoes.

"Are you quite done?" she asked with a bored look.

The audacity and sheer confidence Kagome held was enough to drive Miharu up against the wall. How dare this commoner act this way? She has no power! Miharu has all the skills and resources to completely annihilate her - she should be groveling for forgiveness! Not look at her with those stupidly fearless eyes!

Is this what Ginmaru saw in her?! Is this it?!

Is this what caught his attention?!

Miharu let out a vicious snarl. She won't allow this. Ginmaru is hers! Hers! No peasant will ever take him away from her! She's a queen! A perfect pair for someone as exquisite as Ginmaru - not this bitch.

Never.

"Strip her." The command from the heiress caught everyone, -even her own allies, off guard. "I will utterly humiliate you until you beg."

"N-Nakamura-san." One of the females uneasily whispered, her hold over Kagome slackening with shock.

Miharu swerved furious eyes in her direction. "Do you want to take her place Ai-chan?"

"Miharu, come on, I think that's going too far." The other one stated.

The heiress snarled at her. "Shut up or I'll have you both expelled!" Miharu stomped her way and slapped the appendages holding Kagome down.

"I'll do it myself!"

As her hands reached out to tear at Kagome's dress, something barrelled against her back and she shrieked in pain, reaching up at the hand that was suddenly dug deep in her hair.

"Stay away from her!" Haruhi was a flutter of raging browns and flying periwinkle, docile face fashioned in a furious snarl. The petite host pulled the now flailing heiress off her friend and she gripped harder at the curls of hair wrapped around her grip.

"Miharu!" One of the girls rushed in to shove Haruhi away but Kagome was up and in her face in no time. With a swift maneuver, Kagome threw the girl over her shoulders, relishing in the pained squeal and the sound of dislocating joints.

It was chaos from then on and Kagome was more than ready to beat some fear into these entitled little girls.

One of them flew at her, nails out and ready to pull at her hair. The priestess caught the flailing hand and with a ruthless, open mouthed smile, she twisted and allowed the girl to fall in tears. She spread her feet out and pivoted on her heel, the flat of her foot striking another girl right in the stomach.

Come at me! She inwardly crowed.

A shriek came from her left and she gracefully sidestepped the sloppy punch, delivering a solid hit using her elbow at the arm that flew by her. The girl's howl of agony sent her blood singing.

With a smile, she attacked once more.

The whole auditorium was then suddenly alive with the cacophony of pained screams and agonized crying, the girls bellowing out their suffering and some had even started calling out for help.

But no one came.

No one heard.

"Let go of me!" Miharu squirmed and let out a keening yowl of agony as Haruhi continued to bore down on her. The brunette gritted her teeth, eyes wide with unusual fury, fist locked and unrelenting.

"You- you-!" Haruhi felt as if she's going to faint at how fast her heart was beating. Never had she experienced this amount of anger, this feel of potent wrath. Her blood felt too hot for her skin and it feels as if she'd start spitting fire any time soon.

Miharu jerked rabidly and managed to dislodge the host off her. Haruhi let out a frustrated cry. The heiress turned and made a move to charge at the crossdressing student.

"You fucking-" A whistle in the air, a quick jab in the face, and Miharu was down, blood dripping from her now broken nose.

Kagome stood over the sobbing girl, fist bleeding at the amount of force she struck Miharu with. Her blue eyes were aglow with an unworldly light, pupils shrinking and dilating back and forth.

The urge to do more was damn near impossible to hold back.

"Kagome!" Haruhi was quick to get up, running towards her friend.

The priestess returned the desperate embrace Haruhi had hit her with, arms closing in around the petite girl as her blue eyes watched from over the crown of brown hair.

The girls were now clustered near each other, crying and sniffing as their bleeding leader cursed and bawled over her broken nose.

"We're going to sue you!" she heard one of them yell.

Suddenly, the screen behind them, -the one located at the front of the stage, flickered to life, glitching for a moment until the girls were all looking doe eyed at the copy of themselves on the screen.

"W-What-?"

"You're in no position to demand answers, Higurashi." Miharu went rigid at the sound of her own voice coming out from the booming speakers, tear filled eyes growing wider and wider as the scene earlier played before their very eyes.

Everyone watched, stricken with fear as Kagome's maltreatment replayed on the screen.

The equipment of the Ouran facilities were of highest quality, and it showed - their faces and voices were as clear as crystal and no one would be able to deny their identity.

"Five rich students, ganging up on a helpless commoner, even going as far as to take her friend hostage so she wouldn't be able to fight back-" Kagome's voice was a mixture of faux sadness and genuine triumph, lips splitting in a terrifying grin. "They cornered her, beat her, humiliated her-"

Miharu's breathing deepened and became irregular, eyes watching as everything started to fall and crash around her.

"You know, the drama cliches-" she hummed. "People usually eat up these kinds of things."

"You hurt us too! You think you can get away with this?!" One of them snapped despite the wild, helpless look she has on her face.

To their surprise, Kagome's features crumpled and she sobbed, heart wrenching and full of fear. It was a seamless transition from her cold, gloating look and all they could do was watch everything unfold with steadily mounting dread.

"I-it was self defense! They tried to hurt Haruhi and I can't just stay and watch! I need to protect my friend!" She sobbed noisily, tears sliding down in fat drops.

Then suddenly, her expression changed like a flip of a coin, once more composed and in control. "Words like that usually work well."

Kagome jabbed a finger at the screen still playing on repeat, Haruhi under an arm, silently watching with detached, apathetic brown eyes. "Don't worry, I won't show this video to the adults or teachers."

"How much do you want?!" another demanded, willing to pay herself out of the situation.

Kagome let out a peal of laughter, amused and very much entertained.

"Instead, I'll post this online!" she nearly cracked at the bewildered expression on their faces. "By the time it gains enough traffic and attention, then the adults will get involved."

Some of the girls burst out in tears.

"Expulsion, a criminal record, bad publicity - take your pick and Ouran will definitely deliver, now that their name is on the line."

She felt no pity for them.

"After that, people will begin to look every single one of you up! A social manhunt will commence. Then it will reach a point so bad that even your family legacy will be dragged down into the mud, shaming even your parents because a couple of entitled heiresses can't seem to play nice."

"Besides, we have a handful of very, very influential witnesses." Kagome raised her hand and snapped her fingers.

The rest of the lights flickered on.

"I appreciate your patience, everyone." Kagome stated to the group boys seated at the back of the viewing area.

It was the Host club and Ginmaru.

And they all looked livid.

The girls in front of the priestess made varying pitches of crying, clustering piteously together as the feel of sheer anger and disgust came pouring out from all directions.

Miharu remained frozen as everything clicked in place.

"You…" she began, eyes looking at Kagome with fear and pure defeat. "...from the very beginning-"

Kagome slowly smiled.

"She mentioned someone. Someone she made enemies with."

"Higurashi knows how to fight back."

"The Higurashi wretch is helpless as long as you have something important at your disposal."

"I assume you'd want to strike the fear in her yourself?"

"Hold this one over Higurashi's head, you win the game."

"Let's use the auditorium. No one would be able to hear anything. No one will interfere."

Miharu can do nothing but watch as the pawn of her chessboard walked silently until she was by Kagome's side, steel eyes looking down at her with no trace of regret or pity.

"Ayanokoji Seika-chan from class 3-B."
