Chapter 21
A/N: One of my readers on brung up the fact that the Teen Wolf characters were not making enough appearances in this, so I want to address this. Primarily, TVD characters will be the forerunners in this story, eventually older Stiles will be making his debut and be a part of the primary characters, but I have to build up to that. I'm not one to rush my stories, especially when I have a point to make. Though it is kind of misleading when I have Teen Wolf tags and they're not making a big appearance.
Second, Elena and Stiles or Kat and Stiles will not be pairing. They will more likely be older sisters/mentors more than anything. I don't particularly know if I'll be pairing Stiles with anyone, that is up in the air.
At last, This chapter will open up for the last arc, before having a time jump to Season 1 Episode 1 of Teen Wolf.
Special thanks to everyone that has stuck with me with my erratic schedule. As of right now, I'm trying to finish this story by August. Because I will be starting my Nursing program and trying to juggle writing can be quite exhausting, especially trying to fit work on top of all of that.
Elena's POV
Klaus and I watched as Henrik examined Klaus' cellphone, a childish excitement as he played the different ringtones on it. His wide brown eyes took in the small device, ignoring the audience that he attracted.
"I guess Kol's no longer the adorable one." I said, before sipping on my blood.
Klaus rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Pain in my ass? Yes. Adorable? No. It makes me question where they were keeping Henrik if he is amazed over a cellphone." Klaus said, angrily. A loud shrill ringing came from Klaus' phone, causing a little yelp that came from Henrik as he dropped the phone on the table. He looked with curiosity into the screen, tapping it.
"Hey, how did I get in here?" Henrik said, raising the phone, showing that Elijah was facetiming him.
Klaus took the phone answering it. "Brother." Klaus simply said, his eyes completely on Henrik, who now moved to the stove, turning it on and off.
"Nice to see you alive, Niklaus." I watched with amusement as Klaus hovered over Henrik with panic as he led the curious teen from the fire hazard.
"Sorry, I currently have my hands full." Klaus said, sitting Henrik back down at the table.
"So, I can assume that everything was a success. Is Finn sealed away?" Elijah asked. Klaus sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Am I bothering you, Niklaus?" Elijah said, drily.
"Look, Finn is secured, but I couldn't dagger him. There was a complication." Klaus explained, looking at me, then Henrik.
"Complication? You and that word I don't like together." Elijah said.
Klaus rolled his eyes as rubbed at his temple. "Everything is under control for now, Elijah. I tell you everything when I get back to New Orleans. Bye." Klaus said, hanging up.
I looked at him over the rim of my cup, eyebrow raised in a questioning manner. "Elijah surely will not like that." To prove my point, my phone started to ring. Elijah's name was plastered across the screen. I chose not to answer as my attention went back to Klaus.
"Elijah will live. The last thing I need is the family to come rushing to Beacon Hills." Klaus said, his eyes traced Henrik's movement as he turned the light on and off in the kitchen. The little moment was interrupted by footsteps that were headed our way. My eyes looked to the clock to see that it was approaching 8:30 a.m. as the Winchester brothers came into the kitchen. "Good morning." Sam said, looking more refreshed than the last time I saw him. Dean followed behind, dead on his feet. He made a gruff greeting as he headed over to the freshly brewed coffee.
"Morning. You guys are up early." I commented, hopping up to sit at the counter.
Sam looked up momentarily, passing off a cup of coffee to Dean. "This is late for me, early for Dean. It is best that we start getting a head start since being delayed these last few days. Not only that, Dean has to fix up the Impala and replenish our hunter's stock." Sam explained, leaning against the counter.
Sam looked over to Henrik with a small smile. "Henrik?" Sam said, catching the attention of the young boy along with Klaus. "That's a more fitting name than Gabe."
Henrik beamed a youthful smile at Sam. "I like it as well, but as Gabe I made a friend." Henrik said.
Sam stuck his hand out to the teen. "That doesn't have to change." Sam said, waiting for him to return the greeting.
Henrik looked down at the hand, before sticking his hand and Sam's hand. "Thanks."
"Henrik, we'll be leaving in about thirty minutes. Finish your breakfast while I gather my belongings." Klaus said, before he left the kitchen.
I moved around the kitchen to straighten up my mess as Sam moved around to make a small breakfast for him and Dean. "So, how did you end up like one of them?" I looked over my shoulder to see a more livelier Dean as he looked me over. I was silent as I watched Henrik wander off to the living room, nibbling on a danish.
I smirked as Sam kicked his chair, giving him a look to stop meddling. I turned around to lean once again against the counter. "That is a very complicated story. I fell in with a vampire-"
"That a start to every cliche teen flick." Dean mumbled, causing Sam and I to roll our eyes, but I continued on.
"But the truth is that Stefan isn't the one that put me in danger. I already had a target on my back before Stefan and his brother came into my life. This is not the life I chose for myself, but was forced on me out of revenge. There is blood on my hands and I can't take that back. As right now, I can only continue to do better. That was what you were really asking." I said, staring back at Dean, ignoring the two pairs of eyes that watched us.
Dean sipped at his coffee, looking over the rim of the coffee cup at me. "You have to excuse me, but I ganked monsters for a living." Dean commented, placing his cup on the coffee table.
I huffed with annoyance. "Look, I don't know what you've been through or what you have seen, but you don't get to tell me who I am. I should have graduated college, been married, got the kids thing on lock. Everyone in this house has a tragic story to tell and have grown to be better. Well, Kat is still questionable." I said. I snorted as I heard a distant 'fuck you' from Kat in her room.
Before more words could be spared between the two of us, Sam interrupted us when he sat plates down. "You're from Mystic Falls, right?" Sam asked, taking a seat that faced me.
I nodded, acknowledging his question. "Yeah. Born and raised." I said.
Sam nodded. "I remember an entry in Dad's journal that he was hunting a wendigo back in '95. He mentioned a woman by the name Isobel helped him when he was injured, saving her from the monster." Sam explained, before smacking Dean on the upper arm. "Remember?"
Dean nodded his head. "Yeah, I remember that, but that wasn't the only time he mentioned her. I remember him talking to a Isobel about a year after you left for Stanford, then Dad and I went to Mystic Falls after she went missing." Dean explained.
"Yeah, she wanted to become a vampire, getting her wish to come true. She was Katherine lackey for a while, before she died." I explained, taking a seat at the table.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Sam said, a sorrowful look on his face.
"It's okay, she was never a mom to me. She gave me up to my aunt that I thought for the longest time was my biological mom. Even though we met briefly, I knew she wasn't the woman I wanted to become. Oh the irony." I snorted in amusement. We all fell in a comfortable silence. "What was your Dad's name?" I asked, looking curiously between the brothers. It was weird, but oddly nice to not be alone in this world even though we were total strangers to each other.
"John Winchester." Dean said as Sam followed up with, "A stubborn bastard." He said fondly.
"I can see where Dean gets it from." I snarked, giving him a pointed to look.
"Sam is definitely his father's child. They argued soo much, didn't realize they were arguing with themselves." Dean rolled his eyes.
I went to make a comment, but the moment was ruined when Klaus came back in the room with a duffle bag in his hand. "Ready to leave so soon?" I asked, already knowing the answer. Sam went off to say his goodbyes to Henrik as Klaus pulled me to the side.
"Yes. I need Freya to break whatever spell that Esther has over Henrik, so I can properly put Finn in the ground where he belongs." Klaus said, looking over to Henrik. A worried grimace molded across his face.
My hand laid on his shoulder, catching his attention back. "Everything is going to be fine, Klaus. But do be careful what you guys talk about in front of Henrik until you are absolutely sure that he is okay." I said.
Klaus nodded in agreeance. "And you need to tell Elijah the truth. The magic is slowly killing you." Klaus argued.
I huffed, not wanting to get into this. "Klaus, I have everything under control." I countered.
"Until you don't. I have every right to drag your ass back to New Orleans to get this fixed." Klaus said, giving a look.
"Why are you being so damn persistent?" I said with the utmost frustration.
"No one told you to get your boat rocked by my brother and have his kids. Welcome to the Mikaelson Family." Klaus said sarcastically, not intimidated by my irritation.
"That is why Kol is my favorite brother." I snarked back.
"Because he lets you get away too much, which reminds me to get back home immediately. Last thing I need is Kol influencing Hope. And just for that offending remark, you have before I get to New Orleans to tell Elijah or I will be doing the honors. See, I can be annoying just like Kol." Klaus said, walking away before I could protest. "Henrik, it is time to leave."
Henrik popped up like a meerkat that was on guard, an excitement smile on his face. "Can I drive?!" Henrik asked, wide eyes looking between Klaus and I.
I giggled, because it looked like the blood drained from his face at that thought. "Ummm, let me think about that, but for now I will take the lead." Klaus avoided the question.
"Henrik, ask your big brother Kol to teach you how to drive. He will be delighted." I said, smirking in Klaus direction as he gave a threatening look. He snatched up my throw pillow and lunged it at me, but I caught it as I erupted into uncontained giggles. Henrik just had childish confusion clouding his face, but he nodded anyway.
I looked up to see that Sam and Dean had returned to the living room with a small duffle in their hands. I grabbed the keys to the small tow truck that had the Impala attached to it. "The plates are clean, so it will get you to wherever you need to go." I tossed the keys to Dean, who caught them in mid-air. "Let me see off Klaus and Henrik, before you leave." I said.
The brothers nodded, but they followed me out of the house. I walked over to the sleek, black Porsche truck, watching as Klaus made sure Henrik was strapped in. "I'm scared how you will be when Hope is older." I joked, following Klaus to the driver side.
"Don't remind me." Klaus said, leaning against the opened door. "I'm serious, Elena. Whether you decide to do something or nothing, Elijah deserves to know. He's a big boy, he can handle it." Klaus said. He stared me down, until I gave in. I sighed as nodded just to get him off my back. Klaus got into the truck, closing the door.
"Be careful." I said, moving out of the way.
"You, too." Klaus said, before speeding off down the street. I stood there until I couldn't see him anymore. I looked over to the side to see Sam directing Dean as he backed off into the street with the tow truck. I walked over to Sam as we watched Dean jump down from the truck.
"Did you guys have everything you needed?" I asked.
"We're good. Thanks for coming after us." Sam said, holding his hand out to me. I shook his hand.
"Look, I know we are strangers to each other, but you are my brothers, so if you need anything, you can call me. And you will always be welcome wherever I lay my head." I said.
"I'm sorry for being a prick." Dean said, pulling something out of his pocket. He passed a card over to me. I flipped it over to see 3 phone numbers on it. One was marked 'Bobby Singer'. "If you need us and can't reach us on the burners, Bobby will be able to or help you if it is a supernatural problem." Dean explained.
"Or if you just want to talk. One sibling slipped between our fingers, I wouldn't want that to happen again." Sam said, a sad frown slipping on his face.
I smiled, nodding my head. "I'll like that." I said, causing Dean to groan.
"No chick flick moments Samantha." Dean said sarcastically, but there was a small smile on his face. "Come on Sammy, we have a lot of road ahead of us." Dean said, heading back to the truck.
"Bye, Elena. Stay safe out here and your sentiments are reciprocated." Sam said, before getting into the truck with ease. I waved them off as Dean drove off.
8:00 p.m.
I walked around in the woods, just enjoying the first slice of peace I have experienced this past week. I realized I spoke too soon when I saw off in the distance a house on fire, the smell of smoke enveloping my senses. Using my vampire speed, I ran to the house. I halted in my steps as a wavering heat attacked my skin. I stood in absolute shock as the house was being consumed in the yellow-red flames.
I was broken out of my stupor as I heard a deep scream come from somewhere in the house. I ran closer to the house pinpointing where the screaming was coming from. My eye caught hands slipping from the bars that had led into the basement. I crouched immediately, seeing a silhouette of a person laying on the ground. I sucked in a breath, seeing the person on fire. I used my strength to rip the bars out of the window.
I slipped my slender body in the basement, landing near the man. I pushed aside the burning beam that had him pinned on the ground. Without another thought, I used my jacket to snuff out flames that were burning him. My blurred vision worsened as I hoisted the man over my shoulder. I sped through the house, busting through the door upstairs. The front door was blocked, so I moved towards the back. Finding a nearby window, I used my body to bust through. My lungs sucked in the fresh air as I moved away from the burning house.
Turning attention to the man, I removed my jacket, revealing that the man was severely burned on his right side. He was still conscious as he struggled to take in breaths. His bright blue eye was surrounded by popped blood vessels, but his eye was on me. "You're going to be okay, I promise." My fangs peaked through, before I bit into my wrist. "You have to drink this." I said, before pressing my wrist to the man's mouth. He was too shocked to suckle at my wrist, but I trusted that my blood would slip through.
I looked up startled as I heard two voices scream with horror. My eyes zoomed onto a young boy, who was held by a slightly older woman. I heard the firefighter siren rang through the quiet night. I looked down at the man, who passed out, but his heart was pumping strong. "I'm sorry." I said, before escaping the scene before anyone could see me.
